It’s Fuerza Regida’s Turn: ‘Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada’ Hits No. 1 on Top Latin Albums

Fuerza Regida celebrates its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums, as its seventh studio release Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada, climbs 2-1 to lead the April 27-dated ranking.

Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada ascends to No. 1 with 24,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending April 18 (up 17%), according to Luminate, almost entirely driven by streaming activity (up 17% in streaming equivalent album units, equaling 36.06 million on-demand official streams for the set’s songs during the tracking week).

Top Latin Albums ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week by multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each units equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.

Trending on Billboard

The 30-track set, released via Oct. 20 via Street Mob/Rancho Humilde/Sony Music Latin, visits the penthouse for the first time on Top Latin Albums in its 26th week. That is the longest climb to No. 1 since the Oct. 10, 2015-dated chart, when Juan Gabriel’s Mis Numero 1… 40 Aniversario rose 4-1 in its 60th week. Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada debuted at No. 2 on the Nov. 4, 2023, chart and has never departed the top five.

Notably, Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada becomes only the fifth regional Mexican album to lead Top Latin Albums this decade; all one-week rulers except for Peso Pluma’s Génesis, which has dominated for 28 non-consecutive weeks. Let’s look at those No. 1 albums since 2020:

Artist, Title, Peak Date, Weeks at No. 1
Alejandro Fernández, Hecho En México, Feb. 2020, one
Eslabon Armado, Vibras de Noche, Aug. 1, 2020, one
Eslabon Armado, Desvelado, May 13, 2023, one
Peso Pluma, Génesis, July 8, 2023, 28
Fuerza Regida, Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada, April 27

Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada also rebounds to No. 1 for its second week atop Regional Mexican Albums, where it launched at the summit last November.

Fuerza Regida’s new Top Latin Albums coronation arrives a week after the group announced its 37-date U.S. and Mexico summer arena tour, Pero No Te Enamores, will kick off June 6 in Austin, Texas.

The news perhaps ignited similar gains for two other Fuerza Regida efforts on Top Latin Albums: streaming activity drives Dolido Pero No Arrepentido (EP) to its No. 5 peak with an 18% gain, to 13,000 units (essentially all from SEA units), a figure that equates to 19.35 million on-demand official streams registered for its songs during the same period. Pa Que Hablen.: I., meanwhile, jumps 22-20 — after its No. 3 peak in April 2023 — likewise through streaming movement. The album generated 5,000 units (effectively all from streams), up 9%, which equals to 8.4 million streams in the U.S.

Beyond this weekly slate of Fuerza Regida’s albums gains, the San Bernardino, Calif. group, also expands on a song level. Eight entries on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, which combines airplay, streams, and downloads, move ahead boosted by streaming growth, starting with “Tu Name” which rises 4-3, led by with 8.8 million on-demand official streams, up 14%.

“Crazyz,” meanwhile, logs the biggest streaming percentage gain out of the eight, with a 44% growth, to 4.5 million.

Katy Perry Shows Off All Her Roles While Lip Syncing to Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Espresso’

Katy Perry is working late… with all her roles!

The superstar took to Instagram to share a sweet video lip syncing along to Sabrina Carpenter’s summery new single, “Espresso,” while she changes from a casual outfit on the set of American Idol into a stunning purple leather dress ready for the taping. “I’m a singerrrr (and a mother, and a judge, and a…),” she captioned the post in reference to the track’s viral lyrics: “I’m working late ’cause I’m a singer / Oh, he looks so cute wrapped ’round my finger.”

Carpenter released “Espresso” right before she took the stage at Coachella earlier this month. The track launched to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart dated April 27, 2024.

“Weirdly enough, ended up writing this song in France, and I think that that probably had a little bit of inspiration to how the song ended up feeling,” the pop star told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe of the track. “It just had that excitement and that energy of almost kind of traveling the world. We wrote it in France and I remember it being a very, very quick process. I mean, from start to finish I think that’s why you can kind of feel how fun it is. And I think for me, there was something really exciting about the fact that there was so much personality throughout the entire song, because those are the ones that are really, really fun to sing live with a crowd. Those are the ones that people, I think when they don’t know my music or who I am or anything, they can just tune in to a single song and kind of leave with a better idea of my sense of humor.”

Hayley Williams Is ‘So Ready’ to Tour With Taylor Swift

Hayley Williams is loving this new Taylor Swift era.

The Paramore frontwoman took to her Instagram Stories following the release of her longtime pal Swift’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, to name the project as one of her favorites in honor of Record Store Day. “Had me from the storytelling alone, my friend,” Williams wrote alongside the cover art. “Every one of us knows this kind of grief! It’s so impressive to me how specific and colorful Taylor’s words get without ever losing the universal thread. I’m so ready to be tour-mates.”

Paramore is set to serve as Swift’s opening act on the sprawling Eras Tour when it resumes on May 9 in Paris, France. The band will remain on the tour throughout its international dates.

Watch ‘Masked Singer’ Judges Perform Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ in Honor of Girl Group Night

Rita Ora, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg just really, really, really wanna zigazig-ah.

In honor of The Masked Singer‘s “Girl Group Night” episode, airing Wednesday (April 24), the four judges banded together to deliver an energetic performance of the Spice Girls ’90s hit “Wannabe,” as shared exclusively with Billboard ahead of time.

In the clip, the more experienced vocalists on the panel — Ora and Thicke — took on most of the singing, while McCarthy-Wahlberg and Jeong made for the perfect hype-people to deliver the track’s repeated Ha! Ha! Ha!s. “I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want/ So tell me what you want, what you really, really want,” the group belted, starting the song in separate areas of the stage and coming together as one by the end as dancers in flashy bird costumes performed behind them.

Released in 1996, “Wannabe” was the perfect track for the judges to perform in honor of Masked Singer‘s girl group-themed episode. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1997 and, almost exactly one month later, peaked at No. 1, where it stayed for four weeks.

Wednesday’s episode follows one week after Masked Singer‘s Queen Night episode, which saw the unmasking of Ugly Sweater, aka Charlie Wilson, and Starfish, The Office‘s Kate Flannery. Past season 11 contestants whose identities have been revealed include Kevin Hart (Book); restauranteur Joe Bastianich (Spaghetti & Meatballs); TV personalities Savannah Chrisley (Afghan Hound), Billy Bush (Sir Lion) and Colton Underwood (Lovebird); NFL hall of famer DeMarcus Ware (Koala); and singer Sisqó (Lizard).

YOASOBI Deliver ‘Our Music’ to Mojave Stage Crowd at Memorable Coachella Set

YOASOBI hit the Mojave Stage on Day 1 (April 12) of opening weekend of the 2024 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, taking part in the annual desert music festival featuring headliners Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator and Doja Cat. A correspondent for Billboard Japan was on site at the Indio, Calif., stage to witness the J-pop duo’s first-ever Coachella set.

Ayase and ikura have been expanding their reach outside Japan, performing in the U.S. for the first time last August at 88rising’s Head in the Clouds Los Angeles event. At the Mojave Stage on Friday, some fans eagerly waited at the very front from the preceding act’s set to see YOASOBI up close, suggesting that the J-pop stars have been gaining recognition Stateside as well. The front row was packed with fans of various ethnic backgrounds — from local fans, to Asian fans, including those who traveled from Japan and Japanese residents in the U.S., and Latino fans, with conversations in languages other than English being heard all around during the change-over between acts. The common denominator was that they were all young and excited about the upcoming performance.

The “Idol” duo’s set was downsized and simplified compared to their usual concert production, due to the nature of music festivals and the limited space onstage. But it also proved to be a fan-friendly environment where the distance between the audience and artists was close.

The lights went dark at 8:20 p.m., the scheduled time of YOASOBI’s set, and the bandmembers got into their respective positions as lasers flashed from the stage and visuals shot across the screens. Ayase and ikura then appeared together on the approximately 6-foot-high platform with a screen in the center of the stage, and after the vocalist introduced themselves by simply saying, “We are YOASOBI,” the band kicked off the set with the duo’s breakout hit “Yoru ni Kakeru” (“Into the Night”). The voltage of the audience was high from the beginning, and Ayase couldn’t seem to hold back his joy as he smiled and waved to the crowd through dark shades.

For the next song, “The Blessing,” ikura got off the platform and stood in the center of the stage, which underscored the closeness between the audience and the stage. Shouts of “I love you!” and “YOASOBI!” flew from the crowd, as well as heartfelt calls of “Aishiteru!” (“I love you” in Japanese) from fans who probably memorized the phrase for the occasion.

The vocalist used English to address fans throughout the show, starting off by saying, “Good evening everyone, we are YOASOBI from Japan” and introducing herself and music producer Ayase. “Honestly, we’ve been waiting to meet you all. Being here at Coachella is so unreal. Oh my gosh,” she continued. “It’s honestly a big dream come true for us, wow! Thank you for being here as part of a magical moment. What an honor.”

“We came ready to rock the stage. Coachella! Get ready to groove!” she then hyped up the audience. “Are you ready to dance? Are you ready to sing with us? OK, come on Coachella, make some noise!” The band launched into “Seventeen” and the audience shouted “Oi! Oi!” along to the hard-hitting rock track. The keyboardist Misohagi Zakuro danced to the song, highlighting her versatility as well as the band’s ability to deliver.

Midway through the set, ikura said, “For the next song, I want to feel a sense of unity” and requested fans to turn on the light on their phones. The crowd was quick to react as the slow-tempo intro to “Probably” began, indicating their dedication to the hitmakers. During the next number, “The Brave,” some fans were jumping and headbanging along to the beat, each enjoying themselves to their heart’s content.

“So, Coachella, we’re getting close to the end. Let me see your energy! More!” ikura said before performing their hit “Monster,” then on to “Gunjo,” where she switched the lyrics that mean “I’m irreplaceable” to “you’re all irreplaceable.” The band closed its hit-filled set with “Idol,” Billboard Japan’s song of the year for 2023 that topped the Japan Hot 100 for a record 22 weeks.

While ikura used English to speak to the crowd during the 9-song, 45-minute performance, the set list featured songs performed in their original Japanese. As the singer explained during the set that the duo is “trying to bring our music from Japan to the world,” this was a memorable live performance that effectively delivered “our music” with Japanese lyrics to the audience gathered at the world-famous Coachella music festival and to listeners all over the world through livestream.

YOASOBI also took the stage at the 88RISING FUTURES showcase on day three. The duo appeared after Tiger JK and Yoonmirae opened the set, and ikura again addressed the crowd in English before the duo first performed “Probably” for the Mojave Stage crowd. “I love you all so much. Thank you. Let’s sing together,” she said, and the intro to “Idol” followed. After ikura sang, “What type of guy do you like? / Who’s your partner? / Come on, answer me,” she called out, “Welcome, ATARASHII GAKKO!” and invited the four members of the group onstage. The alternative J-pop girl group joined in to add some flair to the show, performing what’s known in Japan as “otagei” (geek dance moves) during the chorus. The audience enthusiastically responded, “Hey! Hey!” in time to the music, bringing the euphoric moment to a climax.

Post Malone Is Teaming Up With Michael Bay & Brad Fuller’s Platinum Dunes to Create a New IP Universe

Post Malone is expanding his creative bandwidth.

The “Sunflower” singer is teaming up with Vault Comics as well as Michael Bay and Brad Fuller’s Platinum Dunes to create a brand new IP universe based on an original story by Malone. The story is inspired by elements of “road thrillers like Mad Max: Fury Road and demonic horror like Evil Dead,” per a press release and will take place in medieval Europe, “where the only thing standing in the way of the horde of demons infesting the continent is a mysterious armored 18-wheeler seemingly sent back from the heavens.”

“I’m so pumped to share this badass story with the world, and I couldn’t ask for better partners than Michael Bay and Vault to help bring this story to life,” Post said in a press statement.

Rick Ross Eats Edibles & Teases New Album on Final Episode of Mike Tyson’s ‘Hotboxin” Podcast

Mike Tyson might appear on Rick Ross‘ new album. Or maybe that was just the weed talking.

The Miami rapper made an appearance on the very last episode of Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin’ podcast. The former heavyweight champion announced he would be moving on from the popular podcast in March, but didn’t give any particular reasons why. Whatever the reason, Tyson seems like he’s looking forward to his next chapter in life, whatever that may be.

But back to the podcast. This episode was jokes immediately. Tyson’s business partner and co-host Fred “Frenchy” Madzimba tried to conduct a real interview, but it went off the rails from the start. Tyson makes fun of Frenchy for trying to sound like a serious journalist when he asks Rick Ross about the beautiful relationship he has with Meek Mill. Instead, Ross — impressed with the three zippers Madzimba has on his shirt — pleads with him to ask him another good question, saying, “Give me another question, give me a good one. … Come on, you got three zippers on yo’ chest.”

Frenchy’s three zippers becomes a running joke for Ross. Of course, Frenchy doesn’t get to ask a question and the convo moves on to Tyson’s line of infused edible ears. When Ross asks what they taste like, Tyson says that Evander Holyfield’s ear tastes like a—.

The shenanigans didn’t stop there. Apparently, Mike’s Bites are strong enough to make Rick Ross’ feet tingle and, even crazier, made him high enough to make fun of an old photo of Tyson at Sammy Davis Jr.’s birthday.

“That n—a that cut your hair ain’t give you no blend,” Ross said jokingly before Iron Mike confirms that he was sporting a “soup bowl” haircut.

Things do come back to Earth for a bit, though, when Ross mentions he’s working on his third book and alludes to The Zenith being the title of his next album. The episode is wildly entertaining and is the perfect sendoff for Tyson’s foray into the competitive podcast market.

Post Malone Takes Part in Taylor Swift’s ‘Fortnight’ Challenge With Tour Montage

Post Malone has entered the #FortnightChallenge!

The superstar took to YouTube Shorts to share a montage of himself on tour, meeting fans, playing onstage, having fun after the show and everything in between — all soundtracked by his contribution to Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, “Fortnight.”

Earlier in the day, Swift launched the #FortnightChallenge with her own video, in which she gave fans a glimpse into her recording process with a montage of footage featuring the singer in the studio, posing for promotional photos and overall enjoying the album-making process.

The duo released their music video for “Fortnight” on Friday (April 19), and the clip features Post’s tattoos on Taylor’s face as she appears to wipe her face clean, only to reveal a face full of ink instead. In a series of flashback scenes, both of the musicians are fresh-faced, as Swift runs into the arms of a tattoo-free Malone.

Swift took to her social media accounts after the video’s release to marvel at the finished product and the collaborators who helped her achieve it.

“When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music,” she wrote. “Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it. Post Malone blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I’m so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration. I’m still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth, Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets). I still can’t believe I get to work with the unfathomably brilliant Rodrigo Prieto on cinematography and my team of dream collaborators: Ethan Tobman (production design), Chancler Haynes (editor), Anthony Dimino (1st AD), Jil Hardin (producer) and Dom Thomas (executive producer). Parliament aced the VFX as always. Joseph Cassell, Lorrie Turk and Jemma Muradian made these tortured looks come to life. The entire crew made this a dream to shoot. Thank you to everyone involved and everyone who has watched it!!”

‘The Tortured Poets Department’: All the Records Taylor Swift’s New Album Has Broken (So Far)

The 31-track LP sold 1.4 million copies in its first day.

Taylor Swift was gunning for a truly epic release week long before The Tortured Poets Department actually dropped, with the pop star surprising fans by unleashing 31 new songs — as opposed to the previously confirmed 16 main and four bonus tracks — in the span of two hours April 19.

She’d been crafting the sprawling, Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner-produced project for about two years before it finally arrived, with the singer telling fans at a February Eras Tour show that she’d been working on it since the moment she submitted the Billboard 200-topping Midnights to her label some time in 2022. The unavoidable news cycle about her breakups from longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn and The 1975’s Matty Healy, as well as her blossoming romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, only added fuel to the fire of hype leading up to Tortured Poets, which Swift further stoked by saying at another Eras concert, “I’ve never had an album where I needed songwriting more.”

Come April 19, and her inimitable lyricism, discourse-provoking songwriting and apparent allusions to the aforementioned relationships proved to be more than enough to make millions of listeners tune in, the 14-time Grammy winner smashing records left and right in the process. Before Tortured Poets even hit the Billboard charts, it was doing unprecedented numbers in streaming, sales and vinyl — not to mention selling 1.4 million copies in its first day on the market, according to Luminate — giving Swift’s peers a run for their money in more ways than one.

On Friday (April 19), what was originally slated to be a standard 16-track album turned into a 31-song anthology when Swift surprised fans just hours after release with an additional second half of the project. “It’s a 2am surprise: The Tortured Poets Department is a secret DOUBLE album,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn’t mine anymore… it’s all yours.”

Following its release, The Tortured Poets Department sold 1.4 million copies in traditional album sales on its first day, according to initial reports to data tracking firm Luminate. That marks Swift’s biggest sales week ever for any album in the U.S. (Luminate’s sales, streaming and airplay data powers Billboard’s charts. All numbers in this story are for the U.S. only.)

The pop superstar’s latest release also became the first album in the streaming service’s history to have more than 300 million streams in a single day.
