Justin Timberlake Stops Austin Show to Check on Distressed Fan: ‘Are We Okay?’

Justin Timberlake was in the middle of a hyped up run through his signature 2002 solo hit “Cry Me a River” on Saturday night at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas when he spotted someone in the audience who appeared to be in distress. As the band continued to play, a TikTok video of the moment showed JT repeatedly looking to the side and pointing with urgency to a spot on the floor as audience members motioned to someone about 25 feet from the stage who was seemingly in need of help.

As the band kept vamping, security waded into the crowd and Timberlake requested that the house lights be brought up so they could see where the issue was. “House lights up, thank you. Sorry everybody, one second, one second. We need some assistance here about five rows back,” Timberlake said looking concerned.

“Are we okay?” he asked after a brief pause before giving a thumbs up and saying, “no, no problem” and clapping it up for a crisis seemingly averted. The TikTok of the moment featured a note that read, “do you have the full video? That was the lady in front of me. She is okay. Thankfully ppl near to us were drs and attended to her while we got Justin’s attention.”

Timberlake launched the Forget Tomorrow 2024 world tour in Vancouver on April 29 and has played 14 more dates so far, with the next scheduled show slate to take place tonight (June 4) at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Cardi B Thanks Fan for Defending Her ‘Multimillion Dollar Accent’: ‘I Will Never Change the Way I Talk’

Cardi B has always been her most authentic self since bursting onto the rap scene in 2017 with “Bodak Yellow.” She quickly was able to ingratiate herself to the Bardi Gang, and it’s a testament as to why her fans ride so hard for her.

One fan came to Cardi’s defense on X when wondering whether the continuous bashing of the rapper’s speech patterns could be deemed racist.

“At what point does making fun of cardi b’s speech patterns become racist,” they asked on Sunday (June 2).

Cardi B appreciated the sentiment and thanked the fan for defending her on Monday (June 3), while explaining that she’s not changing for anybody.

“wwwww thanks for defending me FCK THEM I will never change the way I talk… I became famous from that just being myself! Then I started making music and became a millionaire out of it,” she wrote. “THIS IS A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR ACCENT BABBYY OKKKKRRR.”

The heartfelt exchange seemed to be in response to bars sniping Cardi B from Bia on her “Sue Meee?” diss track taking aim at The Bronx native, which arrived over the weekend.

“You should be home with your kids ’cause b—h, you speak like second grade,” she raps while jabbing Cardi’s speech.

The Cardi-Bia feud ratcheted up a few levels in the last week when Cardi put the rapper on blast in an Instagram Live and threatened to file a lawsuit against her if she keeps allegedly slandering the Grammy winner.

“You could come at me at any angle. You gonna lie on my f–kingg pussy. B—h, you lying on my f–king p—y. When you lie about my p—y, I’ma sue you and you better come with receipts,” Cardi said.

She seemed to also subliminally diss Bia with her verse on Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla’s “Wanna Be (Remix),” which was released on Friday (May 31).

Bia didn’t waste much time when firing back with “Sue Meee?” over the weekend. In the track she accused Offset of cheating on Cardi, called out the “WAP” rapper for allegedly having ghostwriters and dissed her body.

Jamie xx Announces His First New Album In 9 Years: ‘I Am So Unbelievably Happy’

The long-awaited followup to Jamie xx‘s debut album is now a reality. On Tuesday (June 4), the British producer announced that his sophomore studio LP, In Waves, will be released via his own Young label on Sept. 20.

The 12-track album will follow xx’s debut solo album, In Colour, which was released in May of 2015 to broad critical acclaim. Containing classics including the Young Thug and Popcaan collab “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” and “Loud Places” with his bandmate from The xx, Romy, the album spent five weeks on the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 21 in June of 2015.

The album announcement comes in tandem with a new single, “Treat Each Other Right.” The cerebral dance-floor heater comes with a music video directed by Rosie Marks. This is the second single from In Waves, following May’s “Baddy on the Floor” with Honey Dijon.

Jamie xx shared on Instagram Tuesday the indeed very wavy album artwork and wrote, “My new album, In Waves will be out on September 20th. I am so unbelievably happy. It’s been a while…and a lot has happened in that time. Ups and downs, growing up, figuring stuff out and then forgetting it all many times over. Life changing events and world changing events. These waves that we have all experienced together and alone.

“I wanted to make something fun, joyful and introspective all at once. The best moments on a dance floor are usually that for me. I can’t wait to share it with you.”

To that end, the producer’s summer and fall tour schedule includes festival sets at Glastonbury, Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, HARD Summer in Los Angeles, Portola in San Francisco and III Points in Miami.

Travis Kelce’s Barber Says Taylor Swift Is a ‘Good Girlfriend’ To His Pal and ‘Just a Really Nice Person’

The drive is a bit longer, but Travis Kelce’s longtime barber, Patty Cuts’ Patrick Regan, said that he has nothing but good things to say about his pal’s relationship with Taylor Swift. During this week’s episode of the Your Day Off hair industry podcast, Regan talked about dealing with the insane amount of attention he’s gotten since the singer began dating his now most-famous client and what it’s been like to be pulled into the Traylor orbit.

“I know her as a person and she’s just a really nice person,” Regan said of the pop icon in describing what it’s like to swept up in Swift’s A-list world. “She’s very interested in what you’re saying. She doesn’t act like the most famous celebrity in the world.”

Regan noted that he’s been giving the Super Bowl champ Kansas City Chiefs tight end the “same exact fade” for the past six years, but that it appears to be catching on in a major way lately because, well, Taylor, or course. “She’s a very nice person and she’s a good girlfriend to my friend, so it’s pretty cool,” Regan said of the singer he met during last year’s NFL season when Swift and Kelce went public with their romance in Septembrer. In December, Regan posted a pic in which he was giving Kelce a game day hair tune-up, with a photo credit to Swift for capturing the moment.

And while the romance between the two high-profile celebs doesn’t strike Regan as “too crazy, he did mention that Travis had to “change houses,” which was not that big a deal. “Now I have to drive further, and there’s more security usually, you know,” Regan said of the intensified scrutiny and safety measures surrounding the relationship.

“Travis is one of my bros, so it’s easy. I used to just go sleep at his house every weekend,” he added. “So now things have changed a little bit, but it’s cool to see… I’m happy for him to see the stardom that he’s getting. Because he’s just a normal guy too.” In addition, Regan said it’s been a blast to attend games with Taylor, especially since, “we get a whole separate box now, we’re like right in the middle of the field… She’s a football fan now, which is really cool.”

And though neither Swift nor Kelce have intimated that there is any next step on the horizon, the show’s hosts, of course, had to ask “so, when’s the wedding?” Regan laughed nervously and joked, “hopefully soon. That would be fun!”

Kany García Announces García Tour 2024 in North America: Here Are the Dates

Kany García is set to hit the road with her García Tour 2024 in North America, which will kick off Oct. 9 in Dallas’ Majestic Theatre. In support of her latest album, García, the Live Nation-produced trek will visit major U.S. markets including Chicago, New York and Atlanta before wrapping up Dec. 1 in Miami’s Kaseya Center.

“I am very excited to be able to bring my music to wonderful cities across the U.S. and share García, my most recent album, which has been received with so much giant love from my people,” the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter said in a statement. “Every concert is an opportunity to connect with my audience, to share stories, and create unforgettable moments together. I cannot wait to see you, to sing along, to celebrate life and music with you.”

The tour announcement comes on the heels of Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024, where García is among this year’s honorees. She will receive the Spirit of Change Award, which recognizes an artist who “drives positive change within music, society and beyond entertainment.”

Throughout her career, García has used her platform to advocate for meaningful social causes, including support for LGBTQ+ rights, gender equality and social justice. The ceremony will air exclusively on Telemundo Sunday, June 9, at 9 p.m. ET, and will also be available on the Telemundo app and on Peacock.

Kim Petras Encourages Fans to ‘Accept Yourself’ This Pride Season — But Only on Their Own Terms

Among the platitudes that are shared every Pride Month, “accept yourself” is one of the most common — but pop star Kim Petras wants to examine the actual meaning behind that phrase.

In a post to her Instagram Stories on Monday (June 3), the pop singer shared a “lil pride message for anyone who needs it,” and revealed how she has encountered the common phrase often in her own life. “Accept yourself was something doctors and psychologists would frequently tell me when I went to see them at 8, at 10, at 12, and at 16,” she wrote. “As in ‘you can still wear makeup and present as whatever, but why would you need to go so far’ … Why can’t you just accept yourself?”

The singer continued, saying that those doctors refused to understand that the self they were asking her to accept was not her true self. “They couldn’t fathom that I had accepted myself since I can remember and accepted everything I knew I needed to do to be myself,” she wrote.

Petras then reminded readers that intention is important, especially when it comes to a loaded phrase like this one. “Accept yourself can be a pretty sh—y thing to say to someone,” she wrote. “Some nerd online has said it to me every day of my life since I can remember … and their dads are probably obsessed w me.” She signed off her note with one final message to her fans: “That being said … accept yourself and happy pride.”

The new post comes after Petras announced that she would be canceling all summer festival appearances in 2024 — including sets at Primavera Sound, Mighty Hoopla and a headlining gig at LadyLand — to focus on her health. “I’m going through some health issues and under medical advice I have had to make the hard decision to not perform at festivals this summer,” she wrote in an update. “I love u so much and I’ll make it up to you and be back better than ever very soon.”

Sean Kingston Booked Into Florida Jail After Arrest on $1M Fraud Charges

Last week, Sean Kingston was arrested in California and signed papers waving his right to fight extradition to Florida. On Sunday, he was booked into Broward County jail, according to the Associated Press. Both the singer and his mother are charged with committing more than $1 million worth of fraud in his home state. Kingston was taken into custody on May 23 after performing at Fort Irwin, an Army training base in California’s Mojave Desert. His mother, 61-year-old Janice Turner, was arrested the same day when the Fort Lauderdale mansion he rents was raided by Broward County Sheriff’s deputies and the Davie Police SWAT team.

According to NBC News, the warrants say that from October to March the pair allegedly stole almost $500,000 in jewelry, more than $200,000 from Bank of America, $160,000 from an Escalade dealer, more than $100,000 from First Republic Bank and $86,000 from a customized beds manufacturer.

The singer is already serving a two-year probation sentence for trafficking stolen property and his mother, according to federal court records, pleaded guilty in 2006 to bank fraud for stealing over $160,000 and served nearly 1.5 years in prison.

Kingston, born Kisean Anderson, posted a message on his Instagram Story saying, “People love negative energy! I am good, and so is my mother! … My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”

The duo’s attorney Robert Rosenblatt, previously expressed confidence to news outlets, saying: “We look forward to addressing these [charges] in court and are confident of a successful resolution for Shawn and his mother.”

Take That Lenny Kravitz! Miley Cyrus Says She Works Out in Heels: ‘Practice How You Perform’

Forget about that old joke about how Fred Astaire was great but that his dance partner Ginger Rogers did everything he did, but “backwards and in high heels.” And, if you can, put those recent videos of 60-year-old Lenny Kravitz working out in Jeans and boots out of your head too, because Miley Cyrus just revealed that she’s got them both beat.

“My mantra is, like any athlete, ‘Practice how you perform,’” Cyrus told W Magazine in its current cover story. “So that’s why I practice in my heels. The gym looks really tough, but then I’ve got my ivory Gucci slingbacks because they remind me of Marilyn ­Monroe. I train in heels, mostly.”

In addition to squatting in slingbacks, Cyrus said she also works out in her more glamorous stage attire because she wants to bring some feminine energy to the typically grimy, bro-ish gym experience. The singer — who said her sobriety is a big part of her “extremely clean” lifestyle — further explained, “I’m interested in feminizing the workout space, because so much of the workout equipment is ugly.”

In addition to revealing how she ended up on old friend Beyoncé’s “II Most Wanted” Cowboy Carter track earlier this year, Miley also dove into how the two women have been had mothers who’ve been involved in their careers over the years.

Demi Lovato Says She ‘Definitely Felt Different’ After 5th In-Patient Mental Health Stay: ‘I Started to Find the Light Again’

Demi Lovato has been an open book when it comes to her struggles with mental health. The 31-year-old singer spoke about the hard work of finding balance during a chat with Dr. Charlie Shaffer on Monday night at the Center for Youth Mental Health at New York Presbyterian’s annual benefit according to People.

“I have been to inpatient treatment five times, and it has something that every single time I walked back into a treatment center, I felt defeated,” Lovato said. “And I know that experience firsthand, but I think the glimmer of hope was when I started putting in the work and I started to, whether it was work, a program, or talk to my treatment team and build relationships there.”

Lovato said she began to get a “glimmer of hope” when she started to find joy in the little things in life, an experience that used to be foreign to her because, she said, she was so used to “not seeing hope…. It felt like I had hit rock bottom and I just knew what I needed to do, which was to live a life in recovery. And that was something that I pushed off for so long,” she added, referring to her fifth trip to in-patient mental health treatement.

Another key, she added, was finally finding the right mix of medication, which Lovato said “helped me tremendously… And I think I had hit another low, and I was like, ‘what am I doing wrong?’ I felt defeated. But then, when all of the key parts started to fit into place like a perfect puzzle, I started to find the light again.” The singer/actress also said that her treatment taught her that her mental health is not her “identity.”

In 2011, Lovato, then 18, revealed in an interview with Robin Roberts that she’d been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Then, in her 2021 docuseries Dancing With the Devil, she revealed that she’d been misdiagnosed.

“It wasn’t until I went into treatment for the first time that I realized this isn’t who I am,” she said at Monday’s event. “It’s just a part of what makes me me, meaning my struggles have shaped me into the pottery that you see today, but it’s never become my identity since then. It’s just become something about me that makes me a little interesting, I guess you could say.” That said, as difficult as it’s been, Lovato said she’s grateful for what she’s been through and what she’s overcome.

Shania Twain Sticks It to Herself After Hilarious Mic Mix-Up Goes Viral: ‘Really Glad Someone Captured This Moment’

Shania Twain knows the No. 1 rule of live performance: if you can laugh at yourself, everyone else can too. The singer learned that lesson all over again recently during a show in which she was singing her 1995 The Woman in Me single “(If You’re Not in It For Love() I’m Outta Here!” while holding her mic in her right hand and a white and pink drumstick in the other.

At one point, Twain did a shimmy and — after tucking it under her arm just moments before — pulled out the stick and sang into it momentarily. After just a few seconds, her eyes got wide as the singer appeared to realize her mic mess-up and quickly switched while laughing and saying, “oh my God! That was hilarious!”

Proving she’s a good sport, Twain, 51, then held both up to her mouth, sang into the stick one more time for good luck and then pushed on through the rest of the performance flawlessly. Shania posted a video of the incident taken by a fan on her X account on Monday and hilariously copped to the mic mix-up. “I’m really glad somebody captured this moment, it’s made me laugh all over again,” she wrote.

Twain’s Come on Over Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood’s Bakkt Theater launched on May 10 and the singer will spend June and July performing headlining and festival gigs in the UK before returning to Strip on August 23 for shows that run through mid-December.
