Sabrina Carpenter Makes Waves During Her Runway Debut at Vogue World 2024: Watch

Please, please, please give fans more! Sabrina Carpenter stunned when she made her runway debut at the Vogue World 2024: Paris on Sunday (June 23). The “Espresso” singer added a jolt of joie de vivre she walked the fashion event held at the Place Vendôme.

Dressed in a red-and-white striped bathing suit with a matching kerchief and sarong by Jacquemus, paired with bright red shoes, the singer gave off perfect beachy vibes as men on either side of her waved billowing blue fabric to mimic ocean waves around her.

“Vogue asked me to reinterpret my show «LES PARASOLS DE MARSEILLE » and custom pieces for the VOGUE WORLD SHOW!” the French fashion designer shared in an Instagram post featuring video of the artist walking in his creation. “This part was dedicated to the 40´s and swimwear !”

The 25-year-old singer — who is set to kick off her Short n Sweet Tour in September — was not the only musician in the show. Also making appearances on the runway were Ciara in custom Givenchy during the section of the event dedicated to the 1970s; Colombian superstar Maluma, who looked dapper while walking the 1930s portion of the show in a sleek Thom Browne dinner jacket; Katy Perry, who modeled a revealing cutout dress by Noir Kei Ninomiya during the ’80s portion; Bad Bunny, who showed off a sleek gray pinstriped suit and fiery red shoes during his performance during the portion dedicated to the ’90s; and more.

This year’s event focused on the decades of French fashion, going back to the 1920s. Model and actress Cara Delevingne hosted the livestream of the event.

Cardi B Promises a Spanish-Language Album Is Coming After Release of Upcoming Sophomore LP

Cardi B is already making plans for her third album, even before her highly anticipated years-in-the-making sophomore LP is out.

The Bronx bombshell took a poll seeking fan responses to the idea of her dropping a Spanish album on Sunday night (June 23), and a large majority seemed to be in favor of Cardi getting back to her roots. She took to her Instagram Story and posted the poll while in the car singing along to her Peso Pluma collaboration “Put Em in the Fridge.”

With almost 480,000 votes tallied, the results were positive, as 79 percent of the Bardi Gang want to see a full Spanish LP from the Grammy winner.

“OK AFTER MY ENGLISH ALBUM,” she wrote on Monday morning (June 24).

Billboard has reached out to Cardi’s reps for comment.

Cardi is no stranger to rapping in Spanish, as she’s dished out bilingual bars on tracks such as Ozuna’s “La Modelo” and Shakira’s “Punteria.”

It remains to be seen what this means for Cardi B’s long-awaited sophomore album. In May, she tweeted that there would be no project from her. “Anyway NO album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing this year .. Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer,” she wrote at the time. However, reps for the rapper disputed that in her Rolling Stone cover story days later.

On June 20, she teased fans by having them guess the album title of her sophomore LP, which gave the Bardi Gang hope for legitimate traction on the project.

Cardi B set the bar extremely high with her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, which she celebrated turning six years old in April.

“6 years ago I released my first album and it broke so many records GAH LEE!!” she tweeted at the time. “6 years later I’m preparing to drop the next one this year.. it’s so different from what everyone is expecting and I’m sooo excited.”

IOP debuted atop the Billboard 200 and every song on the project is at least certified platinum. She took home best rap album honors at the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Charli XCX Tells Fans to Quit Screaming ‘Taylor Swift Is Dead’ at Her Shows: ‘I Will Not Tolerate It’

There’s nothing fancy about this request. Charli XCX is asking fans to be civil when it comes to Taylor Swift after the “Boom Clap” singer’s sold-out Partygirl DJ set Friday (June 21) at Club Zig in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

After seeing online that attendees at the show were chanting “Taylor is dead,” the Grammy nominee told her fans that such behavior is not acceptable. “can the people who do this please stop. online or at my shows,” she wrote in an Instagram Story Sunday (June 23) over a message informing her of the “toxic behavior” of some people at her events. “it is the opposite of what i want and it disturbs me that anyone would think there is room for this in this community.”

She concluded, “i will not tolerate it.”

The chants come after Swift released U.K.-only versions of her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, with exclusive tracks on June 13, just days after Charli’s latest set, Brat, arrived June 7. Fans theorized online that the move by the pop superstar was to block Brat from reaching No. 1. Taylor Nation tweeted that the new, limited U.K. version of TTPD was to celebrate the 14-time Grammy winner’s Eras Tour arriving in the U.K. for a series of shows.

Charli is also engaged to George Daniel, who is the drummer for The 1975; she announced their engagement in late November. And on June 11, frontman Matty Healy — who was romantically linked to Swift just prior to her beginning her romance with NFL star Travis Kelce — announced that he is engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel, who is mentioned in opening seconds of Brat‘s lead track, “360.”

The “Speed Driver” singer is currently touring in support of her new album. The trek will arrive in North America with a Sept. 14 show at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena, before hitting New York City’s Madison Square Garden for a sold-out show later that month, Nashville in October, and more before wrapping up the leg at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena Oct. 23. She finishes up with four shows currently scheduled in the U.K. for late November through early December.

Post Malone currently continues his reign atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with his Morgan Wallen duet “I Had Some Help,” and from the sound of his new party-ready Blake Shelton collaboration, he looks ready to repeat his chart-topping trajectory. This radio-friendly track finds him ready to shrug off various tribulations, from work stresses to speeding tickets, in favor of Friday night plans with a barstool and a stiff drink. Their voices pair mightily, and it doesn’t hurt that, amid country music’s current nostalgia tilt, the song feels reminiscent of Shelton’s mid-aughts songs that lit up country radio. “Pour Me a Drink” is from Post Malone’s debut country album, F-1 Trillion, out Aug. 16.

Kashus Culpepper, “After Me?”

Newly signed to Big Loud Records, this Alabama native meshes blistering guitar and eruptive vocal talent on this bruising testimonial, as he sings of helplessly watching his ex-lover wed someone else. He inhabits a country-blues amalgam in similar musical terrain as country/Americana stalwarts such as Marcus King and Chris Stapleton, while infusing his work with his signature muscular, sandpapery growl. In the process, he towers in a lengthy list of artists finding enduring success with sounds expanding beyond the boundaries of mainstream country.

Ella Langley and Riley Green, “You Look Like You Love Me”

Langley takes the lead on this flirtatious barroom situation, launching into a spoken-word verse about spotting a potential lover on the dance floor and boldly stepping up to him and making a coquettish offer. Green follows by eying the situation from a male perspective, before Langley takes the lead again, advising listeners to take their own romantic risks. Winding guitar and saloon-tinged piano further fuel the song’s barroom vibe, while Langley and Green’s country drawls, confidence and humor make for an ace pairing. Green and Langley also wrote this country ditty with Aaron Raitiere.

Chase Rice, “Go Down Singin’”

In 2023, Rice reminded listeners that his songwriting capabilities extend beyond penning massive radio hits such as the Florida Georgia Line hit “Cruise” or his own “Eyes on You” when he released his remarkably introspective project I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go to Hell. Now newly independent after previously being signed with BBR Music Group, he distills his journey from his early days in Nashville, to finding success, to setting out on his own, into just over three minutes of detailed story arc. He traces his journey and the years he “left blood and sweat and tears up and down 16th Avenue,” before turning to his decision to strike out on his own as an independent artist, offering a clear-eye comprehension of the risks and rewards, but as he sings, “If I go down, at least I go down singin’.”

Tina Adair, “Let It Fall”

Following her time spent as part of bluegrass family band The Adairs, in addition to issuing solo albums and previously co-founding bluegrass group Sister Sadie, Tina Adair returns with her latest from her upcoming solo set. This Sarah Siskind-written song showcases Adair’s dynamic, gospel-soaked vocal inflections, while underpinning her versatile, powerful vocals with churning instrumentation from guitarists Cody Kilby and Pat McGrath, banjoist Scott Vestal, mandolinist Seth Taylor, fiddler Ron Stewart, reso-guitarist Rob Ickes and bassist Byron House, along with tightly-woven harmonies from Wes Hightower. Her upcoming album follows 2023’s Here Within My Heart.

Priscilla Block, “Bad Guy”

“Just About Over You” hitmaker Block turns the tables on typical heartbreak anthems with this new song, acknowledging that sometimes, “the dagger gets thrown by painted nails.” Block has a flair for a well-crafted turn of a phrase, and here she muses that there are times when the relational offender “is a bombshell blue-eyed, do you dirty blonde.” This uptempo track also makes use of Block’s polished yet conversational vocal tone. Block teamed with David Garcia, Cole Taylor and Trannie Anderson on the song, which is from Block’s new five-song EP, PB2.

Will Smith Set to Perform on 2024 BET Awards

Will Smith is just two years into a 10-year suspension from attending Academy Award events, a penalty for his well-documented behavior at the 2022 Oscars, but he’s being welcomed back to the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, June 30, where he is set to debut a new original song.

Smith, 55, has a long history with the BET Awards. He and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, hosted the show in 2005. Smith is also a three-time BET winner for best actor — for Ali (2001), Hancock/Seven Pounds (a dual entry in 2009) and King Richard (2022).

“From his start as a rapper to The Fresh Prince to being a box office king as one of the Bad Boys, Will Smith is truly a global icon, and we are honored to welcome him back to grace the BET Awards stage,” Connie Orlando, EVP specials, music programming & music strategy at BET, said in a statement. “We look forward to Will adding to yet another defining night for the culture that is not to be missed.”

This won’t be Smith’s first major TV appearance since the 2022 Oscars debacle. He and Jeff Townes, his partner in DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, reunited to perform on A Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop, a two-hour CBS special which aired on Dec. 10.

Moviegoing audiences have also welcomed Smith back to their good graces. Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth installment in the Bad Boys franchise, in which Smith stars with Martin Lawrence, has grossed nearly $147 million in the U.S. and Canada since its release on June 7, making it the sixth-highest-grossing film so far in 2024.

BET touts Smith’s performance as an “exclusive” and “a major addition to Culture’s Biggest Night.”

Previously announced performers are GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Ms. Lauryn Hill & YG Marley, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Tyla and Victoria Monét. Additionally, Tanner Adell will perform on the BET Amplified stage.

Taraji P. Henson will host the show for the third year. Usher will receive BET’s lifetime achievement award — an award Smith has inexplicably yet to receive. The 2024 BET Awards will air live on Sunday, June 30 on BET at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

BET touts its annual awards show, which dates to 2001, as “the ultimate platform to showcase the best, brightest and most beautiful aspects of the Black experience — honoring the present and future of Black music, creativit and sportsmanship, by celebrating the culture and being a driving force for social change.”

Drake leads the 2024 nominations with seven nods. He is followed by Nicki Minaj with six; J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, Victoria Monét, and Beyoncé with five each; and 21 Savage, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Tyla and Usher with four each.

Voting for the 2024 Viewer’s Choice Award ends June 30 at 6:30 p.m. PT/ 9:30 p.m. ET.

Orlando will oversee and executive produce the annual show, with Jamal Noisette, SVP of tentpoles & music community engagement, to also executive produce for BET. Jesse Collins Entertainment is the production company for the show, with Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay also serving as executive producers.

On April 8, 2022, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced that Smith will not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs for the next 10 years in the wake of his conduct at the 94th annual Oscars ceremony on March 27 of that year.

In one of the most infamous episodes in Oscars history, Smith rose from his seat and slapped presenter Chris Rock following a joke the comedian made about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. (Pinkett Smith suffers from alopecia, which causes hair loss, though it’s unclear if Rock was aware of her condition.) After returning to his seat, Smith twice yelled at Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out your f—in’ mouth.”

Compounding the strangeness, Smith received a standing ovation when he subsequently won best actor. And he was allowed to give a nearly six-minute acceptance speech.

On April 1, 2022, just five days after receiving the biggest accolade in his profession, Smith resigned from the Academy.

“My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful and inexcusable,” Smith said in a statement. “The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film.”

Carín León Partners With Virgin Music Group and Island Records in Double Whammy Deal

Carín León, the soulful yet big-voiced regional Mexican singer who ended 2023 as the 10th highest-grossing Latin touring act of the year on Billboard’s Boxscore charts, has announced a new partnership between his label, Socios Music, and Virgin Music Group and Island Records.  

The deal is unique in that both Virgin and Island will distribute and market León’s product under Socios Music, the label León formed in partnership with his manager, Jorge Juárez. Virgin will distribute and market everywhere for the U.S. Latin market as well as global markets, while Island will work the U.S. mainstream market. The agreement encompasses parts of León’s back catalog as well as new material, including León’s most recent album, Boca Chueca, Vol. 1 (released May 30), which debuted at No. 5 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Albums chart and No. 8 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.

To date, León has placed 16 songs on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, including three in the top 10, and six No. 1s on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart. The hits include numerous collaborations with major Mexican music acts like Grupo Firme, as well as pop acts like Maluma, Camilo and Kany García. León has also raised eyebrows (in a good way) with his forays into the country music market. “The One (Pero No Como Yo),” his bilingual collab with country star Kane Brown, peaked at No. 46 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, and he played Stagecoach this spring in addition to making his debut at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

“Carín León has established himself as one of the most exciting and creative artists in the world today,” said JT Myers and Nat Pastor, co-CEOs of Virgin Music Group, in a statement. “He has also assembled around him a world-class team and together we are already building upon the amazing work they’ve done throughout Carín’s incredible career.”

“Carín León is a true outlier,” said Justin Eshak and Imran Majid, Co-CEOs of Island Records.  “He transcends not only stylistic and sonic boundaries, but also cultural boundaries. We’re thrilled to work with Carín and manager Jorge Juarez via this new partnership with Virgin Music Group and Socios Music.”

León first appeared on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart as a soloist in 2019 with “Me la aventé” and, during the pandemic, scored a major hit with his cover of Latin pop song “Tu,” recorded as a live session during lockdown. Initially signed to indie Tamarindo Rekordsz, in December 2022 he began working with Juárez, a veteran concert promoter and manager.

Juárez negotiated last year’s tour with AEG Live and León’s publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group, as well as the new deal with Virgin and Island.

“We are proud to have assembled an incredibly collaborative team at both Virgin Music Group and Island Records to work alongside us to take Carín’s career to even greater heights,” said Jorge Juarez, Leon’s manager and business partner at Socios Music. “We are already seeing huge benefits from this new partnership and are excited for the future.”

In support of the new music, Carín’s forthcoming Boca Chueca Tour 2024 kicks off July 22 in Paso Robles, California, with stops in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Nashville, Houston and Toronto, as well as a landmark performance at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Paul McCartney Dances to ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ With Taylor Swift Fans in London: Watch

“But Daddy I Love Him,” the big song that kicks off Taylor Swift‘s Tortured Poets Department set on The Eras Tour, had Paul McCartney dancing with fans at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday (June 23).

The Beatles legend, who just turned 82, was a VIP guest at Swift’s third concert at Wembley this weekend. Videos showed his arrival at the stadium, but one clip in particular is quite special, capturing an experience that would be priceless to any McCartney/Swift fan.

As Swift sang the “But Daddy I Love Him” lyric about how cynics and saboteurs can’t “counteract chemistry, undo the destiny” of her relationship with the song’s muse, a group of fans simply basking in the moment caught McCartney’s attention.

McCartney took note of the concertgoers’ dance moves and joined in.

“You ain’t gotta pray for me/ Me and my wild boy, and all this wild joy,” Swift is heard singing in the video embedded below. McCartney sways and seems to sing along to some of the lyrics, alongside a number of wonderstruck concertgoers who couldn’t have guessed this encounter would happen.

Snapshots from Wembley Stadium on social media showed McCartney was approachable earlier in the day, too, partaking in the Eras Tour tradition of trading friendship bracelets.

Also spotted with friendship bracelets at Swift’s Sunday show in London was Jon Bon Jovi, and among the many other famous faces seen during her three-night takeover at Wembley were Prince William on Friday and Tom Cruise on Saturday. Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce was in town for the London gigs, and unexpectedly made his Eras Tour stage debut during Tortured Poets‘ “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” in costume.

It’s not “So Long, London” for Swift yet. The Eras Tour revisits Wembley for five more nights in August, due to demand, but heads to several other cities before then, including Dublin, Amsterdam, Zurich and Milan over the next few weeks.

The Tortured Poets Department is currently spending its ninth consecutive and total week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Taylor Swift in London: Travis Kelce Makes Eras Stage Debut, ‘Us’ With Gracie Abrams Has Live Premiere

Taylor Swift‘s Wembley Stadium show got silly Sunday night (June 23) when Travis Kelce made an unexpected appearance on the London stage during the singer’s Tortured Poets Department set. Plus, the tour date marked the live debut of Swift’s newest song.

The couple had some fun at the third of a trio of Swift’s concerts at Wembley this weekend. Kelce, after watching the show among friends, family and celebrities all three evenings in London, made his Eras Tour stage debut at the start of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.” The Kansas City Chiefs tight end carried an exhausted Swift to the couch on set in the over-the-top final act of her Tortured Poets extravaganza.

The audience whooped in surprise at the sight of the NFL player on Swift’s stage; he’s been spotted at a handful of Eras concerts, but usually as a VIP spectator who’s trading friendship bracelets or vibing to songs like “Blank Space,” “Karma” and “So High School.” Among those watching at Wembley Sunday night was Paul McCartney.

Kelce played along with Swift’s dancers, in character to get the star ready to “fake it ’til you make it” for the crowd and smile, “even when you wanna die” — as the song goes.

“I was grinnin’ like I’m winnin’/ I was hittin’ my marks/ ‘Cause I can do it with a broken heart,” Swift sings on the pop track with a cheeky chorus: “I’m so depressed, I act like it’s my birthday every day/ I’m so obsessed with him, but he avoids me like the plague/ I cry a lot, but I am so productive, it’s an art/ You know you’re good when you can even do it with a broken heart.”

When The Tortured Poets Department era of the show ended, the pop star began her acoustic set, which typically features one guitar and one piano performance of songs she hasn’t ever, or doesn’t often, play live. Lately, she’s been presenting many of her surprise song picks as mashups.

On Sunday, she told the stadium that “if you know the words to this one, you get extra credit points ‘cause it’s only been out for like two days.”

“It’s my friend Gracie’s,” she added, speaking of Gracie Abrams, who just released the album The Secret of Us, which includes a duet with Swift. (The night they wrote the duet “us.” will be hard to forget, as the songwriting session wound up in flames: a candle caused a small kitchen fire that Swift managed to put out herself with a fire extinguisher.)

Swift performed “us.” live for the first time, beginning on guitar and joined by Abrams on piano when she arrived on stage alongside her.

“I just love this girl so much,” Swift said at one point.

She also praised her as a collaborator: “Writing with her, she’s just so badass. That’s a writer.”

The two hugged as the song concluded, and then Swift offered London a medley of some 1989-era fan favorites: “Out of the Woods,” “Is It Over Now?” and “Clean.”

Peso Pluma‘s Éxodo has topped this week’s new music poll that features artists in various genres of music.

Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (June 21) on Billboard, choosing the Mexican star’s highly anticipated new album as their favorite new music release of the past week.

Peso’s two-disc set brought nearly 52% of the vote on the poll, securing an edge ahead of new releases from Post Malone featuring Blake Shelton (“Pour Me a Drink”), Ariana Grande featuring Brandy and Monica (“The Boy Is Mine”), Gracie Abrams (The Secret of Us), Coldplay (“feelslikeimfallinginlove”), and others.

Éxodo follows Peso’s massive year in 2023, which included the release of his history-making Génesis. The album debuted and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, earning the highest ranking for a Mexican music album on the tally. Earlier this year, the set won the Grammy for best música mexicana album (including tejano).

Peso Pluma, Billboard‘s 2023 Rookie of the Year, catapulted to stardom last year placing more than 20 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in a span of months. The hitmaker is currently on his Éxodo Tour, which includes upcoming stops in Miami, Dallas, Nashville and Atlanta.

Trailing behind Éxodo on this week’s poll is Post Malone and Blake Shelton’s “Pour Me a Drink,” with 17% of the vote. The party song is the latest track from Malone’s forthcoming country album, F-1 Trillion.
