Zach Bryan Charts 17 Songs From ‘The Great American Bar Scene’ on Hot 100

Zach Bryan has a huge week on Billboard’s charts (dated July 20), thanks to the arrival of his new album, The Great American Bar Scene.

Released July 4 on Belting Bronco/Warner Records, the set debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart (dated July 13) after just one day of activity. Following its first full week, it jumps to No. 2 with 137,000 equivalent album units earned, according to Luminate. Nearly all of that sum is from streaming, as the album is slated to be released on CD and vinyl on Oct. 11.

The album earns Bryan his fourth top 10 on the Billboard 200, after American Heartbreak (No. 5 peak in June 2022); Zach Bryan (No. 1, September 2023); and his EP Boys of Faith (No. 8, October 2023).

Of Bryan’s 18 entries on the Hot 100, 15 are debuts, upping his career total to 42 career titles. Of those, 19 have reached the top 40 and three have hit the top 10.

Thanks to his featured appearance on the new LP, John Mayer returns to the Hot 100 for the first time since “Outta My Head” with Khalid reached No. 58 in April 2019. He logs his highest rank since “Shadow Days” reached No. 42 in 2012.

Plus, Bruce Springsteen earns his 27th career Hot 100 hit, and first since “Working on a Dream” (No. 95 peak, February 2009). He earns his highest placement on the chart since “The Rising” reached No. 52 in 2002.

Meanwhile, John Moreland achieves his first career Hot 100 entry thanks to his featured appearance on “Memphis, The Blues.” The singer-songwriter, from Tulsa, Okla., has been releasing music for nearly two decades, including 10 studio albums. He has charted three collections on the Americana/Folk Albums chart: High on Tulsa Heat (No. 14 peak in 2016); Big Bad Luv (No. 18, 2017); and LP5 (No. 17, 2020).

Musicians Who’ve Carried the Olympic Torch: BTS’ Jin, John Legend & More

Over the decades, tens of thousands of people have served as torchbearers ahead of the biennial Olympic Games. And many of those carefully selected participants have been some of the world’s biggest musicians, from BTS’ Jin in 2024 to John Legend in 2012.  

In the past, Olivia Newton-John, Will.i.am, Loretta Lynn, Lance Bass, Mel C and more have all also accepted the honor of representing their countries by helping to transport the Olympic flame in an on-foot relay from Greece to the site of each Games, a practice that dates back to the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. The weather-resistant torches that carry the blaze look different each, boasting unique designs that represent the host country of any given year. At the end of the relay – which has included anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand torchbearers through the years – one final person lights the Olympic cauldron to signify the beginning of the historic contest, not to be extinguished until the Games have ended. 

“A modern invention inspired by practices from ancient Greece, the Olympic Torch Relay heralds the start of the Olympic Games and transmits a message of peace and friendship along its route,” reads the Olympics’ website.

Morgan Wallen Returns to Instagram, Announces Hometown Stadium Show in Knoxville

Morgan Wallen will soon have a triumphant homecoming when he performs at the University of Tennessee (UT)’s Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. later this year as part of his One Night at a Time Tour.

Wallen is bringing the tour to his hometown show at Neyland Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 22. He’ll be joined by HARDY and his fellow Tennessee native Ernest.

Wallen, an 11-time Billboard Music Award winner, grew up in Sneedville, Tennessee and then moved to Knoxville as a teen. In 2011, he graduated from Gibbs High School, located just outside of Knoxville, and has often nodded to his love of UT’s Tennessee Vols in songs including “Had Me By Halftime” and “Tennessee Fan.”

Wallen — who deleted his Instagram account back in June — reinstated his account just before revealing the news of the upcoming Neyland Stadium show.

“I’m coming home,” Wallen wrote on Instagram, the text accompanying a video that featured the song “Rocky Top” (one of Tennessee’s state songs, which has also been associated with UT since the 1970s) as well as footage of Neyland Stadium, performance shots of Wallen and images of Wallen wearing an orange Tennessee Vols jersey.

“I’ve had the honor of playing in a lot of college, MLB and NFL stadiums the past two years, but getting to play to my hometown at Neyland Stadium, nothing tops this for a boy from East Tennessee,” he further added in a statement.

Wallen’s collaboration with Post Malone, “I Had Some Help,” is currently at No. 3 on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100, and previously spent six weeks at the chart’s pinnacle.

Tickets for Wallen’s Neyland Stadium show will go on sale at 11 a.m. ET starting Wednesday, July 17 on the singer’s website.

As heat wave after heat wave continues to pummel the country, so does the world of politics, which feels suspiciously written by Shonda Rhimes at this point. With the attempted assassination of former President Trump thrusting debate over President Biden’s viability as a 2024 candidate out of the picture, naturally, 50 Cent has found himself in the eye of the storm. The Grammy-winner’s classic “Many Men” has emerged as a semi-ironic anthem of the assassination attempt, earning an acknowledgment from the man himself.

“Trump gets shot and now I’m trending,” he captioned a meme of Trump’s face superimposed over his iconic album artwork for 2003’s Billboard 200-topping Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which landed at No. 11 on Billboard’s Greatest Rap Albums of All Time ranking.

Freshest Find: Camper feat. Ari Lennox & Jeremih, “War”

Last year, with Coco Jones’ “ICU” and Maeta & Free Nationals’ “Through the Night,” Darhyl “DJ” Camper scored a pair of chart-topping R&B hits that played to the genre’s traditional elements of evocative, soulful balladry. For “War,” his new single with Grammy-nominated R&B stars Ari Lennox and Jeremih, Camper continues to play on those fundamentals. “I ain’t got time to lose with you/ All I know is that I miss you/ Bring grenades to your door/ For your love I’ll go to/ For your love I’ll go to war,” Jeremih sings over Camper’s amalgamation of warbling, gospel-inflected chords and a ’70s soul-evoking bass section. With both singer’s verses playing on the classic benchmarks of romance (“Kept you past your curfew/ Bought you your first of Nikes/ Heard your Daddy don’t like me/ Brother wanna fight me”), these three R&B heavyweights have crafted a song whose reverence for the classics permeates both their lyrics and instrumentation, ultimately making for a song that harkens to the past while feeling distinctly modern by way of their stylish vocal deliveries.

Lexa Gates & Billy Lemos, “I Just Can’t Be Alone”

Lexa Gates is one of the can’t-miss emerging artists coming out of NYC. With an aesthetic as refreshing as she is unique, the Queens-bred singer-rapper blends the adjacent worlds in poetic fashion. On her latest single, “I Just Can’t Be Alone,” Gates vulnerably grapples with a yearning for romance and isolation. “Should I really be a douchebag? I’m indifferent, ha, you mad,” she intones to start the jazzy tune. West Coast fans can hear the soulful track’s live debut when Lex takes the Echoplex stage in Los Angeles on Aug. 14.

310babii, “Pink Whitney”

As the West Coast continues to bask in their summer on top, 310babii is keeping the hits coming. After scoring a topline breakthrough moment with “Soak City (Do It)” and a follow-up hit in “Rock Yo Hips,” the recent high school graduate is ready for a few sips of “Pink Whitney.” “Pink Whitney, said she don’t drink Casa’/ Baby bad, p—y good, put her in Prada/ Bae, I gotta buy you YSL, it’s only right/ She got designer p—y, only right I bought her flight,” he spits over Beatsbyturk’s bouncy production. Less focused on packing the dancefloor with bodies and more occupied with lauding the girl with the “bеst head in the city,” “Pink Whitney” marks a slightly different direction for the rising star — but it still hits.

SoFaygo feat. Don Toliver, “Precision”

Don’t try to play games with SoFaygo because he’ll call out the “bulls–t with precision.” Lil Tecca hops behind the boards to serve up the blistering production that lives in the realm of Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red. “I never ate at Denny’s, I hate to shop at Lenox/ I’m picky with my women,” FayGo rambles. The Cactus Jack artist lets the ladies know anyone riding with him doesn’t need to turn to having an OnlyFans since he’s got the finances taken care of. Fellow Cactus Jack running mate Don Toliver invades the scene and gives a NSFW shout-out to his wifey. “Damn, she got a big booty/ Kali Uchis, I’ma stuff my face in her coochie,” he promises on the raunchy assist. Hopefully, it isn’t the last time this trio joins forces. 

BLK ODYSSY, “Changes”

Ahead of his third studio album — 1-800-FANTASY (due July 19) — BLK ODYSSY has unveiled another single from the project. “Changes,” a jaunty pop-rock-infused jam that evokes the freewheeling feel of Steve Lacy’s Gemini LP, finds BLK ODYSSY lamenting over the different ways love can warp your sense of routine and normalcy. “Can’t take all these changes, thought it would be painless,” he sing-chants, effortlessly capturing the emotional turbulence of heartbreak and how life-altering the end of a relationship can be. With percussion and guitars holding down the rock ‘n’ roll vibes, it’s his melancholy timbre that keeps the soul front and center.

Veeze feat. Rylo Rodriguez, “F****d A Fan”

Someone could write a fascinating book about rappers and their romantic fan escapades. Rylo opens up about having a girl with him at a five-star hotel while Veeze leans on his designer addiction and letting his partner run up unlimited shopping spree tabs with ease. Although, the Detroit rapper knows his luxury taste and spending habits could catch up with him if he doesn’t continue to level up. “My jacket, my pants, it cost me a dime/ I need to go get an endorsement with Sprite,” he admits with some sound financial advice. As for the 4PF rhymer, Rylo doesn’t believe the ride-or-die women are out there for him. “If I had a dollar for every faithful b—h in the world, my account would be empty,” he raps before painting the bizarre visual of a girl wanting him to autograph a Trojan condom. Just press play and enjoy the journey.

‘Jersey Shore’ Stars Jenni Farley & Mike Sorrentino Travel to Italy for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

Gym, tan, Taylor! Jersey Shore stars Jenni “JWOWW” Farley and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino had an adorable family outing in Milan, Italy, over the weekend to catch Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour show.

The Situation was joined by his wife, Lauren — and the reality TV star commemorated the sweet couple’s night out with a social media photo, in which the duo is seen smiling from their seats at San Siro Stadium. “The Situations are in the building #TaylorSwiftErasTourMilan,” he captioned the post.

Farley, meanwhile, treated her 10-year-old daughter Meilani to the ultimate birthday gift at the show. “The swifties have arrived,” she captioned a group photo from dinner, in which her daughter is seen rocking a “22” music video inspired outfit.

In planned surprises from Milan that had fans chatting over the weekend, Swift debuted three Eras Tour costumes: new dresses for her Fearless and Tortured Poets eras of the concert on Saturday, and a new gown for the show’s Speak Now moment on Sunday.

Next up on the hitmaker’s Europe itinerary, she’ll get to visit Germany, bringing the summer Eras Tour to the cities of Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich.

Last month, Swift revealed that she has a planned date for her record-breaking Eras Tour to end. “You know, this is actually the 100th show of the tour,” Swift told the crowd in Liverpool, England. “That blows my mind. That doesn’t feel like a real statistic to me, because this has definitely been the most exhausting, all-encompassing, but most joyful, most rewarding, most wonderful thing that has ever happened in my life, this tour, these moments with you.

“You know, a lot of you were like, ‘Well, how are you going to celebrate the 100th show?’” Swift continued. “And for me, the celebration of the 100th show means this is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December. Like, that’s it.”

The Eras Tour kicked off at Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium on March 17, 2023, and the final scheduled concert — which will be the 152nd show, if no new dates are added — is set for Dec. 8 at Vancouver, Canada’s BC Arena.

Swedish House Mafia to Perform at Will Ferrell’s Ultimate DJ House Party

We are all in a glass case of emotion over the announcement that Swedish House Mafia will perform at a charity show hosted by Will Ferrell this fall. Called Will Ferrell’s Ultimate DJ House Party, the Oct. 26 event will feature a performance by the electronic trio and be hosted by the comedy legend.

The event happens at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena. The party’s website states that the night will be “a unique and wild celebration of house music featuring some of the biggest DJs in the world along with unique performances and special guests all hosted by America’s Sweetheart, Will Ferrell.”

General tickets go on sale this Thursday, July 18, with VIP passes available now. The arena has a capacity of approximately 10,400. The performance happens amid the group’s fall residency at XS in Las Vegas, which begins on Aug. 31 and extends through late November.

The performance was teased by a video posted to Swedish House Mafia’s social accounts that features Ferrell at the decks of a studio blasting the group’s 2010 classic “One (Your Name),” then announcing that he’ll be playing the show “with my band, Swedish House Mafia.”

Ferrell, wearing the de facto DJ uniform of dark sunglasses and a black T-shirt, then ushers the trio into the room and concludes with “Chicago. Be there. Don’t p–s these guys off.”

All proceeds from the event will go to Ferrell’s charity Cancer For College, which gives college scholarships to cancer survivors. The organization was formed 30 years ago by Ferrell’s college friend and three time survivor, Craig Pollard.

Don Toliver Announces 2024 Psycho Tour: See the Dates

Don Toliver will be hitting the road with his Hardstone Psycho album on his biggest North American headlining tour to date this fall, the Psycho Tour, Live Nation announced Monday (July 15).

Teezo Touchdown will join as a special guest, while Monaleo will serve as the opening act. The 25-date jaunt will begin on Oct. 10 at Portland’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum and go through major cities including L.A., his Houston hometown, Atlanta and Chicago before wrapping on Nov. 21 at Denver’s Ball Arena.

Artist presales begin Wednesday, July 17, at 10 a.m. local time, while Live Nation and Ticketmaster presales begin Thursday, July 18, at 10 a.m. local time. Lil Wayne Appears to Support Drake With ‘Not Like Us’ Lyric Tweak During Las Vegas Show: Watch

Lil Wayne remained quiet for much of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake feud, but appeared to break his silence and throw his support behind the 6 God over the weekend.

The Young Money family bond between Young Angel and Young Lion is still going strong. During his performance at Zouk Nightclub in Las Vegas on Saturday night (July 13), Wayne took the intro of “The Motto” and tweaked lyrics to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” while briefly flashing his OVO owl pendant chain.

“They don’t like us,” Wayne can be heard rapping to the T-Minus instrumental while dancing on stage. It appeared to draw some confusion from the audience, as some thought he was saying, “They not like us.”

“Not Wayne being an instigator Him and Ab Soul are trying to reignite the beef, I guess lol,” one person tweeted.

Lil Wayne is actually name-dropped on “Not Like Us” when Kendrick raps, “F—-d on Wayne girl while he was in jail, that’s connivin’/ Then get his face tatted like a b—h apologizing.”

The lyric appears to reference when Weezy was behind bars on gun charges in NYC and Drake allegedly got romantically involved with Wayne’s then-girlfriend Tammy Torres. The New Orleans rapper addressed the rumored fling in his Gone’ Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island prison journal. “I woke up still feeling f–ked up about the f–ked-up day that I had. Hell is what it was! I’m used to arguing with my girl [daily], but finding out that she f–ked Drake was the absolute worst thing I could’ve found out,” he wrote.

Thanks to a boost from the release of the official music video on July 4, Lamar’s “Not Like Us” returned to the No. 1 slot on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart, and the Drake diss track’s momentum doesn’t appear to be slowing. Even though the dust is settling on the Drake and Lamar feud, “Not Like Us” continues to be a force in pop-culture and churns out headlines. Serena Williams even Crip walked to the song and mocked Drake while on stage at the ESPY Awards, which Wayne attended.

As for the Weezy and Kendrick Lamar relationship, the pair of hip-hop titans teamed up in the past on Tha Carter V‘s “Mona Lisa,” and fans have requested Weezy perform the 2018 record at concerts, but Wayne revealed in June he doesn’t remember the lyrics to it. “This is the second time I’ve seen this within my last three shows. Somebody had a sign that said, ‘Mona Lisa’… If y’all real Lil Wayne fans, you know I don’t know the lyrics to my s-t,” he said on stage.

The rapper continued: “You know how hard that f–king song is, girl… You know what I mean? I don’t like to rap the words, but I’m going to learn that s–t. I’m going to learn it. I got you.”

Dave Free Credits ‘No Yapping’ Policy for Kendrick Lamar & pgLang Success

Kendrick Lamar‘s business partner and creative collaborator Dave Free sat down with Elephant last week and spoke on pgLang’s formula for success.

“Here’s the whole process,” the former TDE executive began. “Kendrick or I will dream something up, although the idea could come from staff members too, and we’ll come into the office, and we’ll figure out how to create a system around the idea to make it self-sufficient. We make sure it’s going to be impactful, influential, financially stable, it’s going to shake people up, and it’s going to tell a story.”

He added, “When it’s developed, we ask, ‘Does it move you?’ Eventually, after repeating that process enough times, we get to a place where we can’t poke any more holes. That’s what we call ‘break and repeat.’ Once there are no more holes to poke, I feel comfortable putting it into the universe. So that’s the process. We apply that to everything that we do.”

Free also talked about the creative agency’s “No Yapping” policy. “We want to treat artists like they’re start-ups. We want them to take ownership of their brand, which is really taking ownership of themselves.”

He continued, “You always hear people talking about all these elements of the business that they don’t like, but it’s not like there are a lot of active participants putting their money where their mouth is. We were like, ‘Let’s not talk about what we want to see from the industry — let’s just do it.’”

When asked about the company’s website use of only “action words,” Dave Free answered simply, “That’s the ‘no-yapping’ rule we have around here. We don’t do the yapping. Ain’t got time for all that yapping.”

Dave Free found him in the center of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake feud that has dominated much of the conversation surrounding rap music this summer. The duo squashed any rumors of any rifts between them, with Free not only making a cameo, but also directing the “Not Like Us” video alongside Lamar.

As a music video director, Free has won three MTV Video Music awards, two BET Video Director of the Year awards, and has a Grammy for best music video.

pgLang was launched in March of 2020, with Lamar officially ending his tenure with longtime label TDE with his 2022 album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.

Buju Banton Mounts Dynamic U.S. Return with ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ New York Concerts: 5 Best Moments

It’s been 13 years since reggae and dancehall legend Buju Banton last performed in the U.S. Watching the icon dance and belt his way through a 90-minute set at New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday night (July 14), it was nearly impossible to believe that much time has passed.

Buju’s Sunday night show — his second of two back-to-back sold-out performances over the weekend — activated one of the cultural backbones of New York City with a combination of dynamic staging, enrapturing musical arrangements and an unmatched passion for the power of love, music and togetherness.

Decked out in a lily-white blazer and plants combo — which he transformed into just a white short-sleeve button-up midway through the opening song — Gargamel took the stage with an unmistakable expression of gratitude on his face. The two New York shows marked the singer’s first U.S. concerts since his 2011 incarceration for a slew of convictions, including conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five or more kilograms of cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking offense and using communication wires to facilitate a drug-trafficking offense

As he ripped through his sprawling setlist, Buju showed love to nearly every era of his four-decade career. Timeless anthems like “Champion” and “Wanna Be Loved” reverberated across the arena with the packed venue shouting the lyrics back at him at every chance, while more evocative moments like “Murderer” and “Psalm 23” highlighted the vulnerability and raw emotion that have helped Buju become one of the most venerated musical acts across genres.

During a summer in which the New York block party has shifted from beloved tradition to one of the most pressing topics of boneheaded social media discourse, Buju’s New York shows served as much-needed reminders of the true energy of such gatherings. The crowd that packed out Long Island’s UBS Arena mirrored a proper Brooklyn block party in ways that their facsimiles never could. Not only was every generation represented, it felt as if all of Flatbush was in the building. Countless flags decorated the crowd — Jamaica, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago had particularly strong delegations present — and over 18,000 people had their finger guns up in celebration of a legend.

Of course, Buju shared the stage with some of his closest friends in the business, bringing out Gramps Morgan, Fat Joe and Remy Ma to surprise the crowd.
