Barbie, Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo all won multiple awards at the 2024 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which were held at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion on Saturday (July 13).
Barbie won favorite movie, favorite movie actress (Margot Robbie), favorite song (Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”) and favorite music collaboration (“Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice with Aqua).
Swift won three awards — favorite female artist (for the third time), favorite global music star (also for the third time) and favorite ticket of the year for The Eras Tour. In addition, her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, won favorite male sports star.
Trending on Billboard
Rodrigo won favorite album for GUTS (beating Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, among others) and also favorite female TV star (kids) for her role as Nini on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
Post Malone, who collaborated with Swift on “Fortnight,” a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, won favorite male artist for the first time. Imagine Dragons took favorite music group for the first time.
Reneé Rapp won favorite breakout artist. Four of the last five winners in this category identify as LGBTQ. Eilish won in 2019, followed by Lil Nas X in 2020 and Dove Cameron in 2023. The winner in 2022 was the straight-identifying Rodrigo. The category wasn’t presented in 2021.
Eilish’s win for favorite song is her third in that category, following wins for “Bad Guy” and “Happier Than Ever.” This puts Eilish in a tie with Harry Styles for the most wins in the category. Styles’ tally includes two hits with One Direction — “What Makes You Beautiful” and “Story of My Life.” Styles won as a solo artist last year for “As It Was.”
Sabrina Carpenter took favorite viral song for “Espresso.” Bella Poarch won favorite social music star.
The show was hosted by SpongeBob SquarePants (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Patrick Star (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke). The show recreated the undersea home of Bikini Bottom, the setting of SpongeBob SquarePants. Unsurprisingly, the show won favorite cartoon. This year marks the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants, which first aired on Nickelodeon as a sneak peek after the Kids’ Choice Awards on May 1, 1999, and officially premiered on July 17 of that year.
Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 was simulcast live on the east coast at 8 p.m. ET, and on tape delay on the west coast, across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, the Nick Jr. channel, TV Land, CMT and MTV2.
Show highlights include an opening dance number, with Paul Russell performing his hit “Lil Boo Thang;” a medley performance by The Kid LAROI of “Nights Like This,” his current single “Girls” and his Hot 100-topping “Stay”; Serena Williams being honored with the Legend Gold Blimp, presented by Kelly Rowland; a halftime show moment featuring Jelly Roll, Heidi Klum and a marching band; and underwater scuba divers revealing Jack Black as favorite villain.
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 will encore on Sunday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon, and 9 a.m. on Nicktoons, and on Monday, July 15, at 9 p.m. on TeenNick. All times shown are ET/PT. The show will also be available to stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, July 14.

The Kid Laroi is set to perform at the 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards, which will be simulcast live on the East Coast on Saturday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET/PT across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, the Nick Jr. channel, TV Land, CMT and MTV2.
The Australian pop star will perform a medley that will include “Nights Like This,” a track from his debut studio album The First Time; “Stay,” his 2021 global smash that led the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks; and a non-album single “Girls.” Nickelodeon promises that his performance “will conclude with an epic sliming.”
Justin Bieber, The Kid Laroi’s partner-in-slime on “Stay,” performed at the 2021 Kids’ Choice Awards. The Bieb performed “Intentions” (with Quavo), “Hold On” and “Anyone.” Jack Harlow and Kid Cudi performed on the show in 2022. Lil Uzi Vert, Bebe Rexha and Lil Baby were among the performers on last year’s show.

The 2024 show will be hosted by SpongeBob SquarePants (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Patrick Star (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke). This marks the first time that the show has been hosted by virtual characters. This year marks the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants, which first aired on Nickelodeon as a sneak peek after the Kids’ Choice Awards on May 1, 1999, and officially premiered on July 17 of that year.
Taylor Swift is the leading individual nominee for the 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards, with six nods. She is followed in the nominations by Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo and Justin Timberlake, with four nods each.
Barbie also scored heavily in the nominations, with eight total nods. The box-office juggernaut has four nods in film categories (favorite movie, favorite movie actor for Ryan Gosling and favorite movie actress for both Margot Robbie and America Ferrera) and four in music categories (favorite album, favorite song for both Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” and favorite music collaboration for Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” with Aqua).
The Kids’ Choice Awards, complete with green slime and Nick’s signature orange blimp award, has long been a top attraction for young viewers. This year’s show will be held at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion for the first time since 2010 and the 11th time overall.
Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 is produced by Nickelodeon Productions and overseen by Ashley Kaplan, executive vice president, Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Unscripted & Digital Franchise Studio; Paul J Medford, vice president, unscripted current series; Luke Wahl, vice president, unscripted creative; Jennifer Bryson, vice president, production, tentpoles, events & music & specials; and Ellen Rydzewski, senior vice president, celebrity, events & talent relations. Guy Carrington & Kevin Hermanson of Done and Dusted serve as executive producers, with Rob Paine serving as co-executive producer. The show is directed by James Merryman.
Women have dominated the pop scene in recent years, so it’s fitting that they dominate the nominations for favorite song at the 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards too, filling six of the eight slots, Billboard can exclusively reveal. Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Doja Cat, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande are vying for the award, along with Luke Combs and Justin Timberlake.
Beyoncé, Grande and Eilish have each won in this category twice in the past. If any of them wins again this year, they will tie Harry Styles as the only three-time winner in the history of the category (which dates to 1988). Styles won twice with One Direction and once on his own, with “As It Was” at last year’s show.

In other nomination news, America’s kids still consider Justin Timberlake to be slime-worthy. The pop veteran received nominations for favorite male artist (a category he won in 2007 and 2014), favorite song for “Selfish” and, with *NSYNC, favorite music group (a category the boy band won in 1999).
Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 will be simulcast live on the East Coast on Saturday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET/PT across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, the Nick Jr. channel, TV Land, CMT and MTV2. The 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards will re-create the undersea home of Bikini Bottom, the setting of SpongeBob SquarePants.
The Kids’ Choice Awards, complete with green slime and Nick’s signature orange blimp award, has long been a top attraction for young viewers. (O.G. fans of the show who were, say, 8 when the show debuted in 1987 are now 45. Time marches on, even when you’re being slimed.)
The show will be held at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion for the first time since 2010 and the 11th time overall.
Beginning Monday (June 3), fans in the U.S. can cast their votes across 33 categories on the official Kids’ Choice Awards website, KidsChoiceAwards.com. International markets will also open voting today, including additional regional categories.
Here are the nominees in five music categories. (The full list of nominations will be announced at 9:15 a.m. ET. This post will be updated with the full nominations list at that time.)

Katy Perry couldn’t help but relate after Bebe Rexha got slimed at the 2023 Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday.
Rexha — who performed her top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hit “I’m Good (Blue)” sans collaborator David Guetta during the family-friendly awards show — shared the moment she got slimed on social media, writing, “Kids choice awards before and after..” The “When I’m Gone” singer jumped into the comments section of the Instagram post, quipping, “They were kind to you sis.”
Of course, Perry seems to be referencing her own epic appearance at the Kids’ Choice Awards during her Teenage Dream era back in 2010, in which she was quite literally knocked to the ground by her surprise sliming. Several fans also reminisced about the moment after seeing Perry’s comment on social media, with one tweeting, “They tried to take her out fr… all she did was wear a blue wig & make pop hits.”
Another pronounced, “Katy Perry is never going back to the kids choice awards after that,” and a third joked, “no forreal cuz this is an attempted mur-der,” with a crying emoji
Rexha, meanwhile, released her latest single “Heart Wants What It Wants” in mid-February as a precursor to her forthcoming, yet-untitled third album. The upcoming record will be a follow-up to 2021’s Better Mistakes, which contained the singles “Baby I’m Jealous,” featuring Doja Cat; “Sacrifice”; “Sabotage”; and the Lil Uzi Vert collab “Die for a Man.”
Check out Perry’s comment on Rexha’s Kids’ Choice Awards post, as well as some of the best fan reactions, below.

Gen X and Millennials hold a special place in their heart for ’80s cartoons such as Thundercats, Transformers and Voltron, so when fan favorite Autobot, Optimus Prime, received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Kids’ Choice Awards over the weekend, everyone over the age of 40 certainly approved.
According to Variety, the star of the Transformers franchise was bestowed with the lifetime honor Saturday night (March 4), for giving children and adults a lifetime of memories both in cartoon and CGI form as the Transformers film franchise has been churning out movies for the past decade and change (for better and worse). Introduced by Pete Davidson, Optimus Prime appeared on the Jumbotron to thank his fans and called for unity during his acceptance speech.
From Variety:
Optimus Prime accepted his award via prerecorded statement, presumably because the Microsoft Theater does not have doors big enough to accommodate him. “Let this award seal the bond between humans, Maximals, and Autobots,” he said, “as we fight together to protect the planet.” Celebs always go political with their speeches. It’s the Stranger Things SAG win all over again.
That’s so Optimus Prime.
Check out the pretty cool moment below and let us know if you’re still a Transformers fan or if the film series done tired you out at this point in the comments section below.
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards know their audience. They know that their fans love nothing more than to see their favorite stars get slimed. And they know that kids don’t have long attention spans, so they brought the show in at a taut 90 minutes.
This year’s installment of the Kids’ Choice Awards that dates back to 1987 (Madonna and Phil Collins were the inaugural winners of favorite female and male artist, respectively) was held on Saturday (March 4) at 7 p.m. (ET/PT), live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by Nate Burleson and Charli D’Amelio, the show featured performances by Bebe Rexha, Lil Baby and Young Dylan, the star of Nickelodeon’s Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan.
Special honors were given to “King of Comedy” Adam Sandler and Transformers’ Optimus Prime. The latter award was presented by Pete Davidson, Dominique Fishback and Anthony Ramos, cast members from the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
A few artists turned their appearances into family affairs. Lil Baby’s kids joined him for a performance of his hit “California Breeze.” And hosts Burleson and D’Amelio were joined by their families on stage for a grand finale sliming.
Lil Uzi Vert also upped the kid appeal of his appearance by engaging in a drum-off with 8-year-old drumming prodigy, Justin Wilson II.
Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2023 will encore on Sunday (March 5) at 6 p.m. on Nickelodeon; Monday (March 6) at 7 p.m. on TeenNick; and Tuesday (March 7) at 8 p.m. on Nicktoons. The show will also be available on Nickelodeon on Demand beginning Sunday (March 5).
Here are the eight best moments from the 2023 Kids’ Choice Awards.
Rule 1: There’s No Such Thing as Too Much Slime
Sandler capped his acceptance speech by saying “Thank you for not sliming me tonight. I can’t stand that stuff.” He fooled no one with that remark. The sliming commenced right on cue. Chris Pine, slimed while presenting a clip from Dungeons & Dragons, said “You know, it doesn’t taste too bad, I got to say.” Melissa McCarthy was slimed by her The Little Mermaid co-stars Awkwafina and Halle Bailey, in a dunk tank filled with over 1,500 gallons of the green goo.
Snub: Avatar: The Way of Water and Top Gun: Maverick
Both of those sequels received Oscar nominations for best picture, but they lost favorite movie here to another sequel with bigger kid appeal, Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Surprise: Joshua Bassett, Dove Cameron Go Deep in Acceptance Speeches
You tune into the Kids’ Choice Awards for epic slimings, not for meaningful acceptance speeches, but sometimes you get them anyway. Bassett spoke at length about his Christian faith and how it has changed his life. Cameron spoke about how she grew up feeling she was an outsider. She told her young fans that if they too are sensitive and have deep, complicated feelings, “You just might be an artist in the making.”
Snub: Harry Styles’ Harry’s House
Harry’s House won album of the year at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 28 and at the Grammys on Feb. 5. It also took best British album at the Brits six days later, but it lost favorite album here to Taylor Swift’s Midnights (3am edition). Harry’s House and Midnights were released in different Grammy eligibility years. Swift’s album will probably be a major Grammy player next year.
Not Really a Surprise, but Noteworthy
Several of this year’s winners are probably older than the kids’ parents. It’s noteworthy that these performers and athletes have such strong support from kids even as they move through middle age. Sandler, who received a special King of Comedy award, is 56; The Rock, who won both favorite movie actor and favorite voice from an animated movie (male), is 50; Serena Williams, who took favorite female sports star, is 41; LeBron James, who took favorite male sports star, is 38. Even Swift is 33.
Not a Surprise, but Nice to See: Dove Cameron Gets Her Due
Dove Cameron won favorite breakout artist. She also won new artist of the year at the American Music Awards and best new artist at the MTV Video Music Awards. These awards make up for the fact that she was passed over for a best new artist nod at the Grammys. None of the other nominees here were Grammy-nominated for best new artist, either. They were: Devon Cole, GAYLE, Joji, Lauren Spencer-Smith and Nicky Youre.
Surprise: Harry Styles and Taylor Swift
To be clear, it was not a surprise that these megastars each won multiple awards. But it was a surprise that they didn’t accept their awards, even virtually. Kids are a big part of both of their fanbases. Sending a video wouldn’t have killed them. Styles won favorite song for “As It Was.” He’s the first three-time winner in that category, counting two earlier wins with One Direction (for “What Makes You Beautiful” and “Story of My Life.” BTS also could have sent in a video. They became the first four-time winners of favorite group. (They moved ahead of three-time category champs Black Eyed Peas, One Direction and Fifth Harmony.)
No Surprise: Olivia Benson Smith
Kids’ Choice voters are so fond of Swift they even gave an award to her cat. Olivia Benson Swift won favorite celebrity pet, beating out Dodger Evans, Gino Chopra Jonas, Noon Coleman, Piggy Lou Bieber and Toulouse Grande. That would have been a charming and very relatable moment on the show.
Taylor Swift & Harry Styles lead the music winners, while BTS scores favorite music group.
Lil Baby will perform his hit “California Breeze” on the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. The show will air live on Saturday at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
“California Breeze” debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October. It’s drawn from the rapper’s third studio album, It’s Only Me, which was his third album to top the Billboard 200.
Dove Cameron, Miranda Cosgrove, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), Jenna Ortega, Olivia Rodrigo and Kelly Rowland will also appear on the show. Optimus Prime, Transformers’ heroic leader of the Autobots, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Previously announced participants on the show, which is being hosted by Nate Burleson and Charli D’Amelio, include Bebe Rexha, who will perform her top five Hot 100 hit “I’m Good (Blue)”; Adam Sander, who will receive the King of Comedy award; as well as Awkwafina, Halle Bailey, Pete Davidson, Peyton List, Melissa McCarthy, MrBeast, Chris Pine, Anthony Ramos, Michelle Rodriguez, Seth Rogen, Michael Le, Bella Poarch and Lil Uzi Vert.
The show will simulcast across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., TV Land, CMT and MTV2, and livestream on Nick.com and the Nick App.
Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2023 is produced by Nickelodeon Productions and overseen by Ashley Kaplan, executive vice president, Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Unscripted & Digital Franchise Studio; Paul J Medford, vice president, Unscripted Current Series; Luke Wahl, vice president, Unscripted Creative; Jennifer Bryson, vice president, production, tentpoles, events & music & specials; and Ellen Rydzewski, senior vice president, celebrity, events & talent relations. Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager, and Barb Bialkowski serve as executive producers, with Harriet Cuddeford and Andria Parides serving as co-executive producers.
All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, Billboard may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.
The 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards will air live from Los Angeles on Saturday (March 4) at 7 p.m. ET/PT. Social media influencer and Dancing with the Stars winner, Charli D’Amelio, will co-host the ceremony with CBS This Morning host Nate Burleson.
Bebe Rexha is slated to perform her David Guetta collab, “I’m Good,” which peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100.
The Kids’ Choice Awards will feature appearances from Halle Bailey, Pete Davidson, Michael Le, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Melissa McCarthy, MrBeast, Chris Pine, Bella Poarch, Awkwafina, Anthony Ramos, Michelle Rodriguez, Seth Rogen, That Girl Lay Lay and Adam Sandler who will receive the King of Comedy Award.
Adele, Billie Eilish, Rihanna, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lizzo, Jack Harlow, Selena Gomez, Paramore, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd and BLACKPINK are among the music star’s nominated this year.
Jenna Ortega, Jack Harlow, GAYLE, Joji, Nicky Youre and Letitia Wright are among the first-time nominees. Netflix’s Stranger Things leads the pack with six nods while Nickelodeon’s That Girl Lay Lay, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder and the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder snagged four nods each.
“I got slimed at the KCAs in 2021, saw my sister get slimed at last year’s show and now, no one is safe with me as co-host,” D’Amelio said in a news release. “Nate and I will make sure this year’s show is full of unexpected Slime shots, impressive dances and surprise tricks along the way!”
Added Burleson, “Hosting NFL Slimetime is always a blast, and I can’t wait to bring that same energy and Slime as co-host of the iconic Kids’ Choice Awards! I grew up on Nickelodeon and my kids still love watching, so we’re all ready for the stunts, surprises and superstars that await us at this year’s show.”
