Shut up and … sing? The lovable paranormal beings and the “livings” of CBS’ Ghosts may not be trapped in a car like Sasappis’ ex-girlfriend Jessica, nor have they belted out Rihanna’s 2007 hit “Shut Up and Drive” on the sitcom, but they — or at least, the actors portraying them — did leave Woodstone […]

From Disney classics to Billboard chart-toppers, the most popular karaoke songs these days span ages, genres and singing styles.
Our Billboard survey ranked a popular Shania Twain hit as the best karaoke song of all time, followed closely by a Backstreet Boys classic and Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.”

Karaoke company Singing Machine, meantime, released its list of the most popular karaoke songs, based on tracks selected by its users. “Let It Go,” from Disney’s Frozen, tops the list, followed by Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey,” and Lil Nas X’s Billboard record-breaking hit, “Old Town Road.”

Singing Machine, whose SDL2093 STUDIO is one of the best all-in-one karaoke machines around ($249, SingingMachine.com), is also the company behind the official Carpool Karaoke Mic ($49.99), based on the popular Carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

While a karaoke microphone is great for solo singing or a casual session, you’ll want to pick up a karaoke machine to really turn the party up.

If you’re looking to host a karaoke night at home, a number of brands are making high-end karaoke machines that you can find online. Unlike a basic karaoke mic, the best karaoke machines include not only a microphone, but a stand, speaker and all the cables and accessories you need to replicate a full-scale karaoke setup too. Here are some of our favorite karaoke machines to shop now.

It’s never surprising to hear one of Kelly Clarkson‘s many hits sung at any given karaoke party — but it is rather rare that Kelly Clarkson herself joins you onstage to sing them. Dozens of unsuspecting fans’ wildest dreams came true Thursday night (June 22) at Sid Gold’s Request Room in New York City, where […]

The characters of HBO’s The White Lotus might be a bit unhinged on the show, but off set, the stars behind them are down to have fun and partake in now-infamous karaoke sessions with each other. According to Haley Lu Richardson, who plays Portia in the anthology series’ second season, classic tracks from movie musical Grease and the Spice Girls are favorites, she revealed in a Tuesday (Feb. 21) interview with InStyle.

When asked about the cast’s karaoke hangout sessions, Richardson stated that she often stepped up to the mic for the sing-alongs. “I did a lot of Spice Girls. I did duet songs from Grease with Adam [DiMarco], like ‘Summer Lovin’ [Nights],’” the 27-year-old shared.

Richardson and DiMarco’s rendition of the Grease track was apparently so good, it ended up being a favorite of fellow cast member Meghann Fahy, who plays Daphne. “My favorite song was not a song that I did, but it was “Summer Lovin’ [Nights],” the actress said in an October interview with Vulture. “Hayley and Adam did it together, and that really brought the house down. Total banger.”

While Richardson did not identify which Spice Girls tracks she liked to sing to, the girl group’s signature hit “Wannabe” could be among the mix. After all, the song spent four weeks at No. 1 and a total of 23 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart following its release in 1996. The song also ranked at No. 43 on Billboard‘s 100 Greatest Karaoke Songs of All Time list. And while Grease‘s “Summer Nights” did not make the tally, the movie’s upbeat John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John duet “You’re the One That I Want” landed at No. 45 on the chart.

Apple Music users will soon be able to sing along to their favorite hits right inside the app.

On Tuesday (Dec. 6), Apple announced the launch of a built-in karaoke function on the streaming service, which will be available to all Apple Music subscribers worldwide later this month. Dubbed Apple Music Sing, the feature will be accessible on iPhone, iPad and the newest model of the Apple TV 4K, with tens of millions of songs available at launch.

Apple Music Sing is similar to a typical karaoke player, highlighting the streamer’s onscreen lyrics beat by beat. Additional functionality includes the option to adjust a song’s vocal levels; the separation of background vocals from main vocals to make the lyrics easier to follow; and a “duet view” that places lyrics from multiple vocalists on opposite sides of the screen to make multi-singer tracks easier to navigate.

Along with the new feature, Apple Music will additionally be launching a suite of more than 50 thematic Apple Music Sing playlists grouping songs together by genre, decade and more.

“Apple Music’s lyrics experience is consistently one of the most popular features on our service,” said Oliver Schusser, vp of Apple Music and Beats, in a statement on the launch. “We already know our users all over the world love to follow along to their favorite songs, so we wanted to evolve this offering even further to enable even more engagement around music through singing. It’s really a lot of fun, our customers are going to love it.”

Victoria Beckham joined Anne Hathaway as a guest on the latest episode of Watch What Happens Live, and host Andy Cohen treated fans to a fun little Q&A with Posh Spice.

After dishing on her first concert, favorite part of her skincare routine and favorite romantic comedy, Beckham was asked what her favorite karaoke song is.

While the star initially opted for the Spice Girls‘ classic “Spice Up Your Life,” she immediately changed her mind and decided on the girl group’s 1997 hit, “Stop.” “It’s got a really great little dance routine that goes down a storm when doing karaoke,” Beckham explained.

When Hathaway asked if the Spice Girl could show off her iconic girl group moves, Posh declined. “Oh, come on, no!” she playfully said.

While Beckham had her own favorite Spice Girls hits to take the karaoke stage with, Billboard ranked “Wannabe” as No. 43 on our greatest karaoke songs of all time list. “I think most people love that song. It doesn’t matter the age. It’s one of those the energy is up there. And it’s repetitive, so everybody knows the word,” said KJ Danny, former karaoke operator of Melody Bar in Westchester, Calif., and The Shack in Playa del Rey, Calif.
