Kamala Harris’ love of Doritos has right-wing supporters of Donald Trump highly upset, leaving many on social media noting how weird that is.As Kamala Harris is out on the campaign trail as the Democratic nominee for president, the latest attack on her by Republicans is focusing on her choice of snack food – Doritos. The attacks came over the weekend, as Vice President Harris made a stop at a Sheetz gas station and convenience store in Pennsylvania. She was accompanied by Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. When Emhoff handed her a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos, Harris was delighted which prompted a reporter to ask if they were her favorite. This is my go-to. The original, nacho cheese,” Harris replied.

The road trip moment didn’t seem to go over well with pundits on the right. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the former Survivor cast member and co-host of The View, appeared on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program on Friday (August 16) to express her disdain. “You just talked about Kamala Harris supposedly eating a bag of Doritos,” she began, “That’s potentially your commander-in-chief. That’s the emotional response of the leader of the free world is to binge-eat a bag of Doritos? Can you imagine Putin chugging down a bag of Sour Patch Kids?”

Others online chimed in, saying the moments felt “forced” as an attack on Harris’ appeal to the public. But many others called out how nonsensical those attacks were, and wondered why right-wingers were still supporting Donald Trump with his abundance of flaws as a candidate. “But Donald munching down KFC and mainlining Ketchup is ok?”, wrote Eddie Pierce in a post on X, formerly Twitter. Another X user wrote, “What are they even complaining about anymore? These aren’t normal or serious people.” Walz’s campaign team also responded with a sly jab in a post, showing Walz handing Harris a bag of Doritos during a visit to another Sheetz in Moon Township, Pennsylvania on Sunday (August 18).

Dr. Michael Eric Dyson swiftly rebuked a Republican congresswoman for being racist toward  Kamala Harris, and social media took note of it.A panel discussion on CNN’s NewsNight got chaotic as a Republican member of the House of Representatives vehemently denied being racist while attacking Kamala Harris as guest speakers on the panel called her out. The Thursday night episode hosted by Abby Phillip featured a discussion on Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and the correct pronunciation of her name. Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, the noted author and professor of African-American Studies at Vanderbilt University addressed Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina’s behavior to that point, beginning by saying she was a” wonderful human being” but that she was being disrespectful by mispronouncing Harris’ name. “I know you don’t intend it to be that way, that’s the history and legacy of white disregard for the humanity of Black people,” he stated.

“Oh, so now you’re calling me a racist? That is b.s. That is complete b.s.,” Mace fired back. The two began to argue and talk over each other, as Dyson replied, “you don’t have to intend racism to accomplish it. Your disrespect of Kamala Harris is part of a tradition of disrespect.” Mace began to talk over him again. “You are intending that I am racist and that is offensive and it’s wrong,” she said. Dyson insisted that he wasn’t calling her a racist but she wouldn’t back down: “You are. You absolutely are and that is disgusting.” Dyson would then insist that she pronounce the Vice President’s name right, to which Mace then pronounced it wrong saying “I can say it however I want!” Democratic strategist Keith Boykin shouted at her, “You’re doing this on purpose congresswoman!”
Many on social media caught wind of the chaotic situation, immediately noting how Mace’s behavior was in line with her support of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. One user called her out for claiming she’s never heard Trump attacking Harris’ racial identity. and another said that she was doing it for “a Cabinet position. It’s giving Jeff Sessions 2016 energy.” Others on social media applauded Dyson’s willingness to hold Mace accountable for her words as well as Boykin and Phillips chiming in.

With the presidential elections approaching, the Democratic ticket is helping voters get to know them on a personal level.
Kamala Harris and her selected Vice President, Minnesota governor Tim Walz, sat down for a wide-ranging chat uploaded to YouTube on Thursday (Aug. 15), where the duo discuss topics including their childhoods, taco recipes and their hope for the future of America.

They also share a love for music, and the conversation led to each politician sharing the music that shaped them throughout their lives. For Walz, it started with Bruce Springsteen’s 1980 album The River, which he called a “transformational piece of music” for him. He also shared his love for Bob Seger. “My first car, it was the summer of 1980 and I’d been saving up. I buy a 1973 orange Chevy Camaro,” he recalled. “Got an eight-track player in it. The previous owner left Bob Seger’s Night Moves in there. I listened to it, and it’s kind of the soundtrack of my life. […] What’s really great about it is I’ve got a ’79 international that’s my car and it’s got an eight-track player in it. I have the very eight-track to this day.”

For Harris, Aretha Franklin was a major part of her childhood. “My mother had every Aretha album and our Christmas gift to my mother, her birthday gift was always like, what’s the latest Aretha Franklin record?” she explained.

Harris added that while Stevie Wonde, Miles Davis and John Coltrane were also fixtures within her family home, one of her “personal favorite musicians” was Minnesota’s own Prince. “My husband Doug and I — I’m more of a hip-hop girl, and he’s more Depeche Mode,” she shared. “However, in the Venn diagram of things, Prince he and I love the same. Talk about how Prince was with that guitar, man. I almost know by heart every one of those songs.”

“I feel like a trip to Paisley Park is going to happen here,” Walz said of the late icon’s beloved Minnesota estate, to which Harris happily replied, “It’s on my bucket list.”

Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance was the subject of a comical jab by Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz during a vibrant speech with Kamala Harris in Philadelphia.

On Tuesday (August 6), before a packed auditorium at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris officially introduced her running mate, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota. He demonstrated how effective he was with his messaging as he attacked JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate. “Like all regular people I grew up with in the heartland,” Walz began. “JD studied at Yale, had his career funded by Silicon Valley billionaires, and then wrote a best seller trashing that community. Come on. That’s not what middle America is. And I gotta tell you. I can’t wait to debate the guy.” As the crowd roared, Walz then quipped: “That is if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up.”

The reference to an alleged passage from the first edition of Vance’s book Hillbilly Elegy made the crowd raucous, and Walz immediately acknowledged it. “You see what I did there?” he said, briefly touching his ear as he laughed. But Walz’s speech also had jabs for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as well. “Make no mistake, violent crime was up under Donald Trump,” Walz stated, “and that’s not even counting the crimes he committed.” He also added: “He doesn’t know the first thing about service – because he’s too busy serving himself.” Harris spent her speech highlighting Walz’s accomplishments, which include his decades-long career as a teacher in high school and defensive coordinator for the school’s team as well as his 24 years serving in the Army National Guard. “My promise to you is this: Our campaign will reach out to everyone, from red states to blue states, from the heartland to the coast, in rural, urban, suburban, and tribal communities,” she said to the crowd.
Walz was one of two remaining candidates to be Harris’ running mate – the other was Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who pledged his support for the ticket at the rally. Walz has proven to be a highly effective communicator so far for the Democrats, having been the figure who first described the Republican candidates and their supporters as “weird,” which has become virally affixed to them in the last couple of weeks.

The gworls are mad, and no I am not referring to the ones we love.

On Tuesday (July 30), after breaking the internet with an overwhelming amount of support following President Biden’s nomination, vice president and presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, held her first presidential rally in Atlanta with the support of an array of artists including Quavo, Beyoncé and Megan Thee Stallion alongside lawmakers Stacey Abrams and Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.

Megan Thee Stallion brought the heat to Vice President Kamala Harris’ first presidential campaign rally, coining the slogan “Hotties for Harris” and sending conservatives into a meltdown. Her performance at the Georgia State Convocation Center was a far cry from her headlining set at State Farm Arena earlier this month. This time, she traded her shimmering leotard for a sleek blue pantsuit, dialed down the twerking, and censored her lyrics. Despite these adjustments, she still had her back-up dancers and a setlist featuring hits like “Savage,” “Girls in the Hood,” and “Body.”

“We’re about to make history!” shouted Megan Thee Stallion while rapping her Grammy-winning hit “Savage,” wearing a Democrat blue suit and a tie with a cropped white shirt revealing her midriff. Visible from the stage was also a sign that read “Hotties For Harris.”

Despite her conservative approach, the haters took to the internet to share their unsolicited opinions, with one right-wing commentator taking to X (formerly Twitter) to label the left-wing movement as “pure ghetto trash.” He continued with a list of derogatory movements supposedly supporting the presumptive Democratic nominee: “H*es for Harris, Hoodrats for Harris, Single Black Momalas for Kamala, White Dudes for Harris.”

The responses were swift and scathing, rightly calling out the racism and hypocrisy in his tone. “Trump has Kid Rock,” one reply noted. “What’s the difference?” Another chimed in, “Using racist inflammatory language to get attention as a grown man is WEIRD.” The misogyny and double standards couldn’t be more glaring.

Trump took a moment from berating his supporters and dodging court dates to chime into the conversation, further spurring his supporters, saying: “Crazy Kamala Harris, voted the WORST Vice President in American history, needed a concert to bring people into the Atlanta arena, and they started leaving 5 minutes into her speech,” the former president wrote on TruthSocial. “I don’t need concerts or entertainers, I just have to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
While this is expected from the weirdos on the right, what was alarming was the continued disrespect towards both Meg Thee Stallion and VP Harris by Black men. The rolled-up edge community and yellow-teethed brothers united and stepped out of their mother’s basements to join the pathetic party of men throwing vitriol at two successful Black women at the top of their field. From slut-shaming to their continued troll method of writing “Free Tory,” the misogynoir hate train was in full swing.

It’s time to address the pervasive misogyny and misogynoir targeting Megan Thee Stallion, Vice President Kamala Harris, and countless other women. Malcolm X once said, “The most disrespected person in America is the Black woman.” This stark reality is evident in the disdain aimed at these prominent figures. The statistics are equally alarming: According to the CDC, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience physical violence by an intimate partner at some point in their lives. African American women are disproportionately affected by intimate partner violence, facing rates significantly higher than their white counterparts proving that this abuse isn’t just a personal issue—it’s a societal failure.

Megan and VP Harris symbolize resilience and success, yet they are subjected to demeaning rhetoric that seeks to undermine their achievements and humanity. This behavior perpetuates a toxic culture that devalues all women, especially Black women. To create a more equitable society, we must stand against these injustices by elevating women’s voices, celebrating their accomplishments, and confronting discriminatory attitudes.
By stopping misogyny and misogynoir, we not only protect and honor the dignity of women like Megan Thee Stallion and VP Kamala Harris, but we also create a more just and equitable society for all women. The fight against these harmful biases is not just a women’s issue; it’s a human rights imperative.

Social media users had a field day mocking Donald Trump after his slur against  Kamala Harris’ racial identity during an NABJ panel. On Wednesday (July 31), Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump took part in a contentious interview at the National Association for Black Journalists convention. Trump disparaged Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris by questioning her racial identity. “She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black,” he said.

The comment stunned those present and sparked a major backlash among those online who watched the live stream of the event, which ended a half-hour earlier than expected due to Trump’s aggressive behavior toward ABC News’ Rachel Scott, one of the moderators of the interview along with Fox News’s Harris Faulkner and Semafor’s Kadia Goba. But comedian and former Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr. seized the opportunity to mock Donald Trump in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “We now know Kamala’s brave story. When did the rest of you “turn” black? How old were you? Where were you when the blackness finally took over your body? Share your stories. This is a safe space,” Wood wrote, using the hashtag #WhenITurnedBlack.

Other users on the platform ran to roast Trump for his racism. One X user, IamRanaTerrell, wrote: “I turned Black when I opened a cookie tin and saw barrettes, rollers, and Bobby pins.” Another user, n16thekid, wrote: “I transferred to a predominantly white middle school, and one day my less-educated caucasian compatriots asked me to, “Stop speaking hood,” because they didn’t know words like “convection” (which were on the worksheet) My melanin truly ascended that day!”
The fallout from Trump’s comments about the vice president hasn’t stopped him and other Republicans from attacking her about her racial identity. She acknowledged them while speaking at the Sigma Gamma Rho’s 60th International Biennial Boulé in Houston, Texas later that day. “This afternoon, Donald Trump spoke at the annual meeting of the National Association of Black Journalists.” Harris said, pausing as the crowd booed before continuing:  “And it was the same old show: the divisiveness and the disrespect. And let me just say, the American people deserve better. The American people deserve a leader who tells the truth.”

John Farnham‘s classic Australian anthem “You’re The Voice” has become the centerpiece of a viral video supporting Kamala Harris‘s presidential campaign.
The stirring track, which has been a staple of Australian culture since its release in 1986, is now resonating with American voters as Harris steps into the spotlight as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.

While Harris’s official campaign released its first video on July 25 featuring Beyoncé’s 2016 song “Freedom,” it’s the unofficial clip set to Farnham’s inspirational anthem that has social media talking.

Trending on Billboard

The video, created by the social media user @politicsusa46, has garnered over 140,000 views at the time of writing. It begins with a montage of Donald Trump’s most controversial moments before transitioning to uplifting footage of Harris, accompanied by Farnham’s powerful vocals.

Australians quickly took to the comments of the video. “As an Aussie, it’s brilliant to see John Farnham and ‘You’re the Voice’ being used in Kamala’s ads. Fits perfectly,” one person wrote on X, while another added, “Wow! This song is practically our second national anthem Down Under.”

This isn’t the first time “You’re the Voice” has been used in a political context.

The song was notably used to advocate for the “Yes” campaign in the 2023 Australian Indigenous Voice referendum, with Farnham’s full support. However, it was also unofficially played at anti-lockdown protests in Melbourne, Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic, a use that Farnham’s manager publicly condemned.

Meanwhile, the singer has kept a low profile following his cancer diagnosis in 2022, during which he underwent an 11-and-a-half-hour surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his mouth. The procedure was followed by eight weeks of radiation therapy.

One year after the marathon surgery, Farnham received the all-clear from his doctors and described himself as “the luckiest man alive.” “I’m home now, and I’m a very grateful and happy man,” he shared. In March 2023, the singer was hospitalized again for treatment of a respiratory infection, from which he recovered two months later.

John Farnham’s “You’re The Voice” was an international hit upon its release in 1986.

It reached No. 1 in Australia and performed well across Europe, including No. 6 in the U.K., No. 3 in Ireland, No. 1 in Sweden, No. 6 in Switzerland, No. 4 in Austria, No. 9 in Denmark, and No. 10 in West Germany.

It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on Feb. 10, 1990, peaking at No. 82 on March 3, 1990, and spending eight weeks on the chart. The song also reached No. 13 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. Heart’s 1991 cover version of the track reached No. 20 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
