According to Deadline, Jimin is “currently participating in his mandatory military service in South Korea, having enlisted in December 2023. His appearance was filmed before his enlistment.”

The high-energy performance aired on Fallon features Jimin and a group of dancers in an artfully staged abandoned building. It begins with Jimin’s emotive vocals, accompanied by intricate choreography that complemented the song’s longing lyrics.

“We never met, but she’s all I see at night/Never mеt but she’s always on my mind,” confessed Jimin in the video, before singing: “Wanna give her thе world and so much more/Who is my heart waiting for?”

It’s not the first time Jimin has appeared on the late night show. In March last year, he made his U.S. solo debut performance of his ’80s-inspired song “Like Crazy.” He also sat down with Fallon to discuss a range of topics, including meeting President Joe Biden and keeping in touch with his BTS bandmates.

Jimin first announced his second solo album Muse back in June, with BigHit Music writing in a statement that the album would showcase his “expanded musical spectrum.”

“Following his first solo album, Face, where he sought to explore his true identity, ‘Muse’ documents his journey in search of the source of his inspiration,” the release continued.

The album also features collaborations with Loco and Sofia Carson.

Earlier this week, Jimin‘s Muse topped this week’s new music poll that features artists in various genres of music. Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (July 19) on Billboard, choosing the BTS star’s second solo album as their favorite new music release of the past week.

Muse brought in 68% of the vote on the poll, securing a notable edge ahead of new releases from Stray Kids (Ate), Joe Jonas (“Work It Out”), JADE (“Angel of My Dreams”), Childish Gambino (Bando Stone & The New World), and others.

Following 2023’s Face, which hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200, Muse continues Jimin’s experimentation. Jimin debuted solo in 2018 with “Promise” and became the first South Korean soloist to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Like Crazy” in 2023. He’s also set to release a docu-series, Are You Sure?!, with Jung Kook, chronicling their travels.

Sabrina Carpenter is in the midst of a major battle, and her fiercest competitor is none other than herself.
As the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart reaches its midweek point, Carpenter’s smash hit “Espresso” remains piping hot and is neck-and-neck with “Please Please Please” (both via Island Records) as both singles vie for the coveted No. 1 spot.

“Espresso” debuted straight in at No. 6 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart upon its release, and on May 3, 2024, it became Carpenter’s very first U.K. leader. It also marked the highest-charting U.K. No. 1 about caffeine in 24 years, since All Saints’ 2000 hit “Black Coffee.”

Meanwhile “Please Please Please,” the second single from Carpenter’s sixth studio album Short ‘n’ Sweet, toppled Eminem‘s “Houdini” back in late June to secure Sabrina her second U.K. No. 1 single in less than two months, while “Espresso” stayed at No. 2. In doing so, Sabrina set a new Official Chart record, becoming the youngest female artist in history to hold the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the Official Singles Chart in the same week.

In other U.K. singles chart news, rising star Chappell Roan is also making waves. Her catchy and heartfelt single “Good Luck, Babe!” (via Island) is poised to hit a new peak at No. 4, up from its debut in the top 10 last week.

Based on midweek sales and streaming data published by the Official Charts Company, Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” (via EMI) is expected to re-enter the top 10 at No. 10, riding the wave of excitement from her The Eras Tour. Swift’s ability to keep her music relevant and engaging is once again on full display, as fans continue to support her timeless hits.

Dua Lipa, fresh off her headline performance at Glastonbury Festival, is seeing her track “Illusion” (via Warner Records) re-enter the top 20, currently at No. 13. The festival’s influence is also boosting Coldplay, with their new song “feelslikeimfallinginlove” (via Atlantic) set to reach a new peak at No. 21. Both acts have clearly benefited from their standout performances, drawing renewed attention to their latest releases.

BTS icon Jimin is aiming for his third top 40 U.K. single with “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” (via Big Hit Music) featuring rapper Loco, with the track projected to land at No. 18. Inspired by The Beatles‘ iconic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the K-Pop star’s latest solo effort sees him once again collaborate with renowned producers Pdogg, GHSTLOOP, and EVAN, who previously worked on his debut solo album, FACE.

Stay tuned for the final chart results at the end of the week to see which tracks secure their positions.

BTS is celebrating 10 years since their debut, and Jimin took some time on Wednesday (June 7) to show his appreciation for fans with a sweet live performance of “Dear ARMY.” Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news The track is a hidden song found on the CD version […]

When Jimin touched down in New York City to promote his solo debut album FACE, Vogue caught it all on video. The fashion magazine released a day-in-the-life video with the BTS singer in which he gets ready to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The video kicks off with the K-pop star taking a look through his wardrobe for his upcoming television performance. “I’ll be performing at the Jimmy Fallon show tomorrow. The vibe of this outfit is a bit like I’ve become the star in the club, this sparkling outfit,” he excitedly tells the camera.

Appearing on Fallon was a major full-circle moment for Jimin. “The place I’m shooting at tomorrow, right around that located is where I first performed in the U.S., for 20,000 to 30,000 people,” he explained. “ARMY is the name of our BTS fanbase. ARMY would translate all our songs in English for us and keep sending them to America. Then, thanks to our American fans, we could get played on the radio. That’s how I was able to come here. This time, I’m releasing my first solo album.”

The K-pop vocalist then caught up with record producer Pdogg, who played a crucial role in helping craft FACE. “Last time I was in the States, I spoke with the other BTS members about how I wanted to make an album, so I called Pdogg right away and he immediately told me to come over,” Jimin said. “So we met up and talked about what kind of songs I wanted to make.”

After a brief stop to go record shopping, Jimin heads to the studio to perfect his dance moves before appearing on television.

HYBE shares rocketed up 14.9% this week after the K-pop company reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Like Crazy” by Jimin, a member of the group BTS. Investors could also rejoice that Jimin’s album, FACE, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. HYBE shares spiked 7.5% on Thursday (April 5) following Jimin’s U.S. chart success and rose another 5.9% on Friday, closing at 217,000 won ($164.85).

“Like Crazy” is an encouraging success for HYBE’s Big Hit Music imprint and the first track by a BTS member’s solo project to top the Hot 100. In fact, Jimin is the first South Korean solo artist with a No. 1 hit on the chart in the U.S. That’s good news for a company that will be without its biggest act for the foreseeable future and which needs to create additional chart successes outside of its home market. News of BTS’s hiatus sent HYBE’s share price down TK% from June TK to TK. Since then, HYBE has reached No. 51 with JIN’s “The Astronaut” and No. 30 with Jimin’s “Set Me Free, Pt. 2.” It has had more success outside of BTS members’ solo projects. Tomorrow X Together’s The Name Chapter: Temptation (EP) reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 while Seventeen reached No. 4 on the chart with 4th Album Repackage: Sector 17.

HYBE’s share price is up 25.1% year to date.

HYBE was the only stock in the Billboard Global Music Index to see a double-digit increase this week and one of just eight companies to finish in positive territory. Overall, the 20-company index declined 3.1% to 1,224.34 this week. (Year to date, the Billboard Global Music Index is up 4.8%.) On Wall Street, the S&P 500 declined 0.1% to 4,105.02 while the Nasdaq composite dropped 1.1% to 12,087.96.

The index’s most valuable company, Universal Music Group, declined 8.2% to 21.40 euros ($23.53) and is down 5% year to date. Spotify, the second-largest contributor to the index, declined just 0.9% to $132.48 and is up 61% year to date.

Jimin made history on Monday (April 3) when his new single “Like Crazy” scored the BTS singer his very first solo No. 1 on the Hot 100, marking the first solo South Korean artist to reach the summit.

The superstar took to Instagram following the news to thank his fans, sharing a screenshot of the latest Hot 100 top 10. “Love u all,” he captioned the post with purple heart emojis.

The Hot 100 start for “Like Crazy” was largely driven by sales, with five versions available during the chart’s tracking week. The song was released March 24 on Jimin’s debut solo set FACE, which enters at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The six-track project was preceded by the pre-release single “Set Me Free, Pt. 2.” With production by Pdogg, Ghstloop, Supreme Boi, BLVSH and Evan, the project also features songwriting credits on three tracks from bandmate RM.

Jimin and the rest of BTS previously became the first all-South Korean group to lead the Hot 100, with “Dynamite” in 2020.

In an interview with Consequence previewing FACE, Jimin admitted each of his bandmates have been anxious over going solo as they focused on individual projects, but “their results were absolutely great.” (Recent solo efforts have included J-Hope’s old-school hip-hop-leaning Jack in the Box, RM’s eclectic, collab-packed Indigo and Jin’s single “The Astronaut,” which was co-written by Coldplay and released before he started his mandatory enlistment in the Korean military.)

Jimin‘s debut solo album, Face, has topped this week’s new music poll.
Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (March 24) on Billboard, choosing the BTS member’s six-track project as their favorite new music release of the past week.

Face, which arrived on March 24 via HYBE LABELS, brought in 74% of the vote, beating out new music from Lana Del Rey (Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd), Ed Sheeran (“Eyes Closed”), Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro (RR), Luke Combs (Gettin’ Old), and others.

Face was preceded by pre-release single “Set Me Free, Pt.2” and its dance-heavy music video. The new album also contains “Like Crazy,” album opener “Face-Off,” and more. In addition to production from the likes of Pdogg, Ghstloop and Evan, Jimin’s BTS bandmate RM also has songwriting credits on three songs on the tracklist.

In an interview with Consequence previewing Face, Jimin admitted each of his bandmates have been anxious over going solo as they focused on individual projects, but “their results were absolutely great.” (Recent solo efforts have included J-Hope’s old-school hip-hop-leaning Jack in the Box, RM’s eclectic, collab-packed Indigo, and Jin’s single “The Astronaut,” which was co-written by Coldplay and released before he started his mandatory enlistment in the Korean military.)

Jimin himself was also nervous for his solo debut before its grand unveiling, explaining, “I don’t want to be an embarrassment to my members. I want to be a proud member of BTS” before hinting that the album will explore “how I overcame… If people understand the emotions I’m trying to express, I’ll consider the album a success.”

Trailing behind Jimin on the fan-voted poll was Del Rey’s ninth album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, with 21% of the vote. In the set, the songstress muses on sex, devotion, family and American decay, but this time with a series of guests — including Tommy Genesis, Jon Batiste and Bleachers — providing an assist. The set shows once again that Del Rey is trying to challenge herself in ways she previously hasn’t.

South Korean singer-songwriters TAEYANG and Jimin each make their first solo visit to the Billboard Hot 100, as their new collaboration “Vibe” debuts at No. 76 on the chart dated Jan. 28.
“Vibe,” released Jan. 13 via THE BLACK LABEL/Interscope Records, opens with 4.2 million official streams and 20,000 downloads sold in the United States in the week ending Jan. 19, according to Luminate. It debuts at No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales and No. 2 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart, as well as in the top 10 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. survey.

TAEYANG (real name: Dong Young-bae) and Jimin (Park Ji-min) are both longstanding hitmakers on Billboard’s charts. TAEYANG, also a member of the K-pop group BIG BANG, notched his first solo entry in July 2010, when “Wedding Dress” debuted on World Digital Song Sales (before peaking at No. 3). He’s scored 14 total solo tracks on World Digital Song Sales, including 10 top 10s and two No. 1s: “Good Boy,” with GD, in 2014, and now “Vibe.” He’s also sent three albums onto the World Albums chart: Solar (No. 14 peak in 2010), Rise (No. 1, 2014) and White Night (No. 1, 2017). Rise also reached No. 112 on the Billboard 200.

BIG BANG, with TAEYANG as a member, has charted 31 songs on World Digital Song Sales, including 26 top 10s and five No. 1s: “Loser” (2015), “Bang Bang Bang” (2015), “Let’s Not Fall in Love” (2015), “Flower Road” (2018) and “Still Life” (2022). BIG BANG has posted four titles on World Albums: Tonight (No. 3, 2011), Alive (No. 4, 2012), Special Edition ‘Still Alive’ (No. 3, 2012) and Made (No. 1, 2016). Alive also reached No. 150 on the Billboard 200, while Made peaked at No. 172. Tonight earned BIG BANG its first chart appearance when it debuted at No. 3 on World Albums and No. 7 on Heatseekers Albums in March 2011.

As for Jimin, “Vibe” earns the BTS member his first career solo Hot 100 hit. BTS has tallied 26 entries, since 2017, including 10 top 10s and six No. 1s: “Dynamite” (2020), “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat),” with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo (2020), “Life Goes On” (2020), “Butter” (2021), “Permission To Dance” (2021) and “My Universe,” with Coldplay (2021). BTS also amassed 15 albums on the Billboard 200, including six No. 1s: Love Yourself: Tear (2018), Love Yourself: Answer (2018), Map of the Soul: Persona (2019), Map of the Soul: 7 (2020), Be (2020) and Proof (2022).

BTS made its first Billboard chart appearance in 2013, when “No More Dreams” debuted at No. 14 on World Digital Song Sales (before climbing to No. 2 seven years later). Since then, the group has broken numerous records, including the most Hot 100 No. 1 debuts among groups (five) and the most top 10 debuts among groups (nine). BTS notched its six Hot 100 leaders to-date over just a year and a month in 2020-21, the quickest accumulation of six since The Beatles earned six over a year and two weeks in 1964-66.

Outside BTS, Jimin has tallied one solo entry on Billboard’s charts: his collaboration with HA SUNG WOON, “With You,” spent a week at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales last May. It also reached No. 14 on Global Excl. U.S. and No. 19 on the Billboard Global 200.

Jimin is now the seventh member of BTS – encompassing all the group’s members – to score a solo entry on the Hot 100. J-Hope first earned the honor in October 2019 with “Chicken Noodle Soup,” featuring Becky G (No. 81 peak), and Suga, V, Jung Kook, JIN, RM and now Jimin have all since followed.
