Kid Cudi Apologizes to Fans For Cutting Coachella Set Short After Breaking Foot on Stage: ‘This Is All a Bit Crazy’

Kid Cudi was super keyed-up to play Coachella for the first time since 2019 when he took the Sahara tent stage on Sunday (April 21). But his joy was short-lived, because during the set Cudi spontaneously hopped down off the stage in an attempt to get close to his fans, a sweet gesture that turned sour when Mr. Solo Dolo seriously injured his foot on the way down.

“Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show [forehead smack emoji]. just leavin the hospital,” he wrote a bit after midnight on Sunday after incurring the injury during a performance of “Memories” and getting carried off. “Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy. I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big.”

In a video of the incident, Cudi gingerly steps over the lip of the stage before jumping down into the photo pit, immediately crumpling to the ground and grimacing as he lays down in the dirt. Cudi was added to the second weekend of the Indio, CA festival, and performed two new songs live for the first time during his foreshortened set, “MOON MAN SHIT” and “BLUE SKY,” according to setlist, as well as “Tequila Shots,” “Sad People,” “Up Up & Away,” “Superboy” and “Electrowavebaby 2.0” before the injury during a cover of David Guetta’s remix of “Memories.”

At press time the extent of the injury was unknown, but Cudder will seemingly have plenty of time to heal and rest up before the kick-off of his upcoming Insano world tour. The 43-date outing with Pusha T, EARTHGANG, Jaden Smith, Chelsea Pastel and Siena Bella is slated to launch on June 28 with a show at the Moody Center in Austin, TX.

Future & Metro Boomin’s ‘We Still Don’t Trust You’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Future and Metro Boomin’s second collaborative album, We Still Don’t Trust You, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart (dated April 27), with 127,500 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending April 18, according to Luminate. It’s the sequel project to the pair’s We Don’t Trust You, which opened at No. 1 on the April 6-dated chart (with 251,000 units in its first week).

With We Still Don’t Trust You arriving atop the Billboard 200 only three weeks after We Don’t Trust You debuted at No. 1, that marks the shortest gap between new No. 1s by an artist since Future replaced himself at No. 1 in 2017 in successive weeks with his self-titled album (March 11, 2017, chart) and HNDRXX (March 18, 2017), both of which debuted at No. 1.

On the latest Billboard 200, We Don’t Trust You rises 4-3 with 83,000 equivalent album units earned (down 17%). In the last 20 years, there have only been seven instances of acts charting two albums in the top three at the same time. Prince did it twice following his death in 2016 (The Very Best of Prince and the Purple Rain soundtrack on the May 7-14, 2016 charts), Future did so once in 2017 with his back-to-back No. 1s (Future and HNDRXX on the March 18, 2017, chart), Taylor Swift achieved the feat three times (Dec. 26, 2020, with Evermore and Folklore; and Dec. 9 and 23, 2023, with 1989 [Taylor’s Version] and Midnights) and now Future and Metro Boomin on the latest chart with We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You.

Future’s total No. 1 count on the Billboard 200 now rises to 10, while Metro Boomin collects his fifth leader. Only 10 acts have earned at least 10 No. 1s: The Beatles (a record 19), Jay-Z (14), Drake and Swift (13 each), Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand and Ye (formerly Kanye West) (11 each), Eminem, Future and Elvis Presley (10 each).

Also in the top 10 of the new Billboard 200, Linkin Park’s first hits compilation, Papercuts, debuts at No. 6, marking the 11th top 10-charting effort for the rock band.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new April 27, 2024-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on April 23. Of We Still Don’t Trust You’s first-week unit sum of 127,500, SEA units comprise 124,500 (equaling 162.57 million on-demand official streams of the set’s 25 tracks), traditional album sales comprise 2,500 (the album was only available to purchase as a digital download) and TEA units comprise 500.

A CD configuration of We Still Don’t Trust You is due for release on April 26, while its vinyl is scheduled to drop in July. We Don’t Trust You, meanwhile, was issued on CD on April 19, while its vinyl is also due in July.

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter slips to No. 2 after spending its first two weeks atop the Billboard 200. It earned 98,000 equivalent album units in its third week (down 24%). Morgan Wallen’s former No. 1 One Thing at a Time rises 5-4 with 71,000 (down 1%). Noah Kahan’s Stick Season jumps 8-5 with 51,000 (up 14%), following the release of the Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever) deluxe edition across four vinyl variants and on CD. The deluxe set was originally released on June 9, 2023, as a digital download and streaming album.

Linkin Park’s first hits compilation album, Papercuts, debuts at No. 6 with 44,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, SEA units comprise 23,000 (equaling 32.04 million on-demand official streams of the set’s 20 songs), album sales comprise 20,500 and TEA units comprise 500. The album’s sales were bolstered by its availability across eight vinyl variants, as well as a CD, cassette and digital download.

Papercuts boasts 14 of the band’s 19 top 10s on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, including 10 of its 12 No. 1s on the list.

In total, Link Park has achieved 11 top 10s on the Billboard 200 albums chart: Hybrid Theory (No. 2 in 2002), Reanimation (No. 2, 2002), Meteora (No. 1, 2003), MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups Presents: Collision Course (with Jay-Z, No. 1 in 2004), Minutes to Midnight (No. 1, 2007), A Thousand Suns (No. 1, 2010), Living Things (No. 1, 2012), Recharged (No. 10, 2013), The Hunting Party (No. 3, 2014), One More Light (No. 1, 2017) and Papercuts (No. 6, 2024).

Benson Boone’s Fireworks & Rollerblades skates 6-7 in its second week with 43,000 equivalent album units earned (down 25%). Three former No. 1s round out the top 10, as SZA’s chart-topping SOS rises 10-8 with just over 40,000 (up 1%), Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album climbs 11-9 with 40,000 (up 1%) and Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine falls 7-10 with nearly 40,000 (down 17%).

Ye Takes Shots at Drake and J. Cole on Fiery ‘Like That’ Remix

Ye is teasing his remix of Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar‘s “Like That” diss track.

The superstar rapper, formerly known as Kanye West, stopped by Justin LaBoy’s The Download podcast to premiere his fiery verse on the “Like That” remix, where he takes shots at Drake and J. Cole.

In a clip shared by Ye through Instagram on Saturday (April 20), the 46-year-old rapper is all smiles as he shares a portion of his scorching remix with LaBoy. The track opens with Ye referencing Lamar’s beef with Drake, saying, “You know we had to get the hooligans up here to get these p—y n—as out/ Yo Dot, I got you.”

From there, Ye takes direct hits at both Drake and J. Cole. “Y’all so out of sight, out of mind/ I can’t even think of a Drake line/ Play J. Cole, get the p—y dry/ Play this s— back 130 times.”

The full version of Ye’s “Like That” remix had not officially surfaced on streaming services at press time on Sunday.

Lamar and Drake’s beef ignited with the Compton rapper’s explosive “Like That” verse that set the rap game on fire and remains at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. On the track — which appears on Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You album — K. Dot throws several volleys, suggestively targeting Drizzy and J. Cole.

“Yeah, get up with me, f— sneak dissing/ ‘First Person Shooter,’ I hope they came with three switches,” Lamar aggressively spews on his guest verse.

“First Person Shooter” was the joint song Drake and Cole released last year on which the latter boasted, “Love when they argue the hardest MC/ Is it K. Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?/ We the big three like we started a league.”

Ye’s “Like That” remix follows two recent responses from Drake, who officially dropped his “Push Ups” diss track through steaming services on Friday (April 19) and followed later that evening with “Taylor Made Freestyle” on social media. On “Taylor Made,” the 6 God uses AI verses in the style of Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg to further taunt Lamar, who has not yet responded to his “Push Ups” diss.

Drake Takes Aim at Kendrick Lamar With AI Tupac & Snoop Dogg Vocals on ‘Taylor Made Freestyle’ Diss Track

Drake has dropped another diss tracking taking aim at Kendrick Lamar.

On Friday (April 19), the same day his “Push Ups” diss officially arrived on streaming services, the superstar rapper shared another fiery song through social media. On “Taylor Made Freestyle,” the 6 God uses AI verses in the style of West Coast hip-hop icons Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg to further taunt Lamar, who has not yet responded to his “Push Ups” diss.

“While we wait on you I guess,” Drake captioned the clip on Instagram.

“Taylor Made” opens with an artificial Shakur addressing the beef between K. Dot and Drizzy, which ignited with the Compton rapper’s scorching “Like That” verse that set the rap game on fire and remains at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Kendrick, we need ya, the West Coast savior/ Engraving your name in some hip-hop history/ If you deal with this viciously/ You seem a little nervous about all the publicity/ F— this Canadian lightskin, Dot/ We need a no-debated West Coast victory, man/ Call him a b—- for me,” the AI Pac raps.

The imagined Makaveli then offers Lamar advice on how to best approach a diss response.

“Talk about him liking young girls, that’s a gift from me/ Heard it on the Budden Podcast, it’s gotta be true,” the AI Shakur raps. “They told me the spirit of Makaveli is alive/ In the n—- under 5’5″, so it’s gotta be you/ I would beef the whole f—ing game.”

An artificial Snoop comes in on the second verse to further push K. Dot into firing back and Drake.

“You gotta show this f—ing owl who’s boss on the West/ Now’s a time to really make a power move/ ‘Cause right now it’s looking like you writing out the game plan on how to lose,” he raps. “World is watching this chess game, but are you out of moves?/ Dot, you know that the D-O-G never f—ing doubted you/ But right now it seem like you posted up without a clue of what the f— you ’bout to do.”

Drizzy saves the last verse for himself, claiming that his “Push Ups” diss “really only took me an hour or two” to write and “the next one is really ’bout to bring out the coward in you.” The 6 God then references Taylor Swift‘s just-released new album, The Tortured Poets Department, suggesting that Lamar’s lack of a response is due to the overwhelming press surrounding her latest project.

“But now we gotta wait a f—ing week ’cause Taylor Swift is your new Top/ And if you ’bout to drop, she gotta approve/ This girl really ’bout to make you act like you not in a feud/ She tailor made your schedule with Ant, you out of the loop,” Drake raps.

“Taylor Made Freestyle” is the follow-up to the Toronto MC’s “Push Ups” diss track, which surfaced online in mid-April and takes aim at Lamar, Future, Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, Rick Ross.

Lil Wayne Makes Hilarious Cameo in Chris Rock-Narrated NBA Playoffs Ad

NBA superfan Lil Wayne makes a surprise cameo in a new Chris Rock-narrated ad for the 2024 NBA playoffs. The one-minute spot that dropped a day before the play-in tournament round kicked off is premised on the notion that most A-list NBA players don’t even think the playoffs are “a thing.”

It opens with a reporter asking Jayson Tatum if “playoff Jayson” is a thing, with the Celtics forward dropping his head and saying, “nah,” as an on-screen headline reads: “Tatum denies ‘Playoff Jayson’ is a thing” in the spot titled “Playoff Mode.”

“Playoff Jayson is not a thing,” he says sternly at a fake press conference. “Okay, Tatum, we all know it’s a thing,” Rock interjects in his patented clipped delivery over a shot of Tatum throwing down a monster dunk. “Just ask Playoff Spida,” Rock says as Cavs shooting guard Donovan “Spida” Mitchell drops his head and denies it’s a thing.

Similarly, Rock gets a “not a thing” from Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, Bucks guard Damian Lillard, Nuggets Center Nikola Jokić and Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards, who denies the playoffs’ existence while doing pull-ups with a ridiculously heavy weight vest. Lillard is so annoyed at Rock’s suggestion that it’s time to finally see “Playoff Giannis [Antetokounmpo] play with Playoff Dame,” that Lillard angrily rips off the “Playoff” tag slapped up over his locker.

“Not a thing,” Lillard says.

And finally, Rock goes to the man who would know the best if it is playoff season: Lil Wayne. “Playoff Tunechi knows it’s a thing,” the comedian says over a shot of glasses-wearing Weezy concentrating really hard at a claw machine game. “It’s game time!” Wayne says as he tries, and fails, to grab an NBA player plushy from the machine. The camera then swings to a front-row shot of some celebs taking in a playoff game, including chef Guy Fieri and Puerto Rican superstar Anuel AA.

But when Rock says “even Chuck’s playoff jokes are funnier,” NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal shuts that down quickly, as he scribbles a mustache and glasses on a headshot of fellow hall of famer and broadcaster Charles Barkley. “No they are not,” Shaq says pointedly.

The playoffs, a real thing, continue on Friday (April 19) with Chicago vs. Miami at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN and Sacramento vs. New Orleans at 9:30 p.m. ET on TNT, with the first round of the playoffs scheduled to kick off on Saturday (April 20).

Hardy Serves Up A Cover of Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre’s ‘Gin and Juice’: Stream It Now

Why take your gin straight when you can have it with a side of Hardy? In honor of Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre‘s new Gin & Juice canned cocktail venture, the country-rock star released a cover of the hip-hop duo’s classic “Gin and Juice” on Friday (April 19), with a music video to follow next month.

“A while back, I got a phone call saying that Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg would like for me to record my own version of ‘Gin and Juice’ for the launch of their new drink, Gin&Juice,” Hardy revealed in a press release. “I’m still in disbelief, but I am so stoked that I’m dropping my version of ‘Gin and Juice’ with the blessing of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg themselves. Thankful for the opportunity.”

The “Give Heaven Some Hell” singer first teased the cover on Thursday (April 18) with an Instagram post featuring a flick of him posing with the two hip-hop legends. The three artists appeared to be on the set of a forthcoming “short film” tied to Gin & Juice.

Hardy’s “Gin and Juice” cover comes after a string of hits for the CMA-nominated star. In 2023, he notched his first No. 1 title on Top Country Albums with The Mockingbird & the Crow, which housed “Truck Bed,” his first unaccompanied Country Airplay chart-topper. This year, Hardy turned his attention to the rock scene with recent releases “Quit!!” and “Rockstar” peaking at No. 2 and No. 1 on Hot Hard Rock Songs, respectively. Both tracks are set to appear on his upcoming rock album.

Snoop Dogg’s original Dr. Dre-produced version of “Gin and Juice” reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994 (chart dated March 26, 1994). The track — which earned a Grammy nod for best rap solo performance — served as the second single from Snoop’s Billboard 200-topping debut studio album, Doggystyle.

Lil Nas X Finally Drops Swaggering ‘Lean On My Body’ Two Years After Teasing Track

Lil Nas X keeps talking about the backlog of songs he’s sitting on, so Wednesday night (April 17) the MC snuck out a track that has been floating around for several years in snippet form, the punchy “Lean On My Body.”

“I know I’m 10 years late but I’m dropping lean on my body in a couple minutes,” he tweeted around dinnertime in a post that also included the original minute-long March 2022 in which Montero rapped a verse from the song while walking on a treadmill.

“You know I love you, so I say this s–t with love/ But please tell your fans they need to shut the f–k up/ I’m doin’ real s–t, some never-worry-’bout-a-bill s–t/ Some build a house on the hill, s–t/ The money’s gravy, it’s coming crazy,” he raps, adding the swaggy lines, “My big sis just had another baby, popped ’em out the labia/ My other nephew sittin’ in the class with a broken knuckle/ He had to beat a ni–a ass for talkin’ ’bout his uncle.”

Now, Lil Nas continues, he doesn’t condone that kind of violent behavior, then quickly changes his mind, counseling, “F–k it, yeah, I said it, I condone thats–t/ Choke that ni–a out/ Go corona on that b–ch/ Walk that ni–a like a dog, nephew own that b–ch.” The chorus leans into a gospel vibe with a heavenly choir of Monteros singing, “Lean on my body, Lord (Amen, amen, amen) Bring blessings on my soul (Amen, amen, amen)/ And when the war is over (Thank you)/ See it’s time to tell the world the war is won.”

Lil Nas has been teasing that his upcoming mixtape, Nasarati 2, is just around the corner, but at press time there was no firm release date for the follow-up to the 2018 original. Last week he posted the hard-hitting “Right There,” which he first previewed in an Instagram Story in February.

Lil Nas has been candid about the struggle to choose songs for the tape amid concerns over his fans’ perceptions of his music. Earlier this year, he wrote on Instagram, “Been hoarding music for years smh i hate my relationship with fear of my songs not doing well and perception. i wish i could just release music and not give af.” That said, he has also dumped a handful of snippets on fans to see what their reaction is in an apparent effort to aid in his track-picking.

After posting “Lean,” a fan named Mya commented, “these songs are literally hits it’s insane he’s not putting them on all streaming platforms…,” to which Lil Nas responded, “I just want yall to enjoy the music for now. We gone get to that!”

GloRilla Arrested for DUI in Georgia: Report

On Tuesday morning (April 16), GloRilla was reportedly arrested on suspicion of DUI in Georgia.

According to TMZ, which first reported the arrest, the rapper (real name: Gloria Hallelujah Woods) was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, consuming/possessing an open alcoholic beverage container and a separate traffic charge in Suwanee, Georgia, a suburb about a half-hour outside Atlanta.

In the police report obtained by TMZ, the officer says he smelled marijuana and alcohol from the car during a traffic stop just after 4 a.m. ET Tuesday and that GloRilla admitted to drinking that evening, though she said she was good to drive. Another detail from the report, according to TMZ, is that GloRilla’s breast was exposed at some point during the exchange and officers had to inform the rapper.

The Memphis rapper was taken into jail just after 6 a.m. ET on Tuesday and released on bond hours later, TMZ reports.

Billboard has reached out to the Suwanee Police Department and a rep for GloRilla for confirmation of the arrest and further comment.

Though GloRilla was very active on her socials Wednesday (April 17) — mostly promoting her new song “Wanna Be,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, from Glo’s new Ehhthang Ehhthang mixtape — she has yet to address the arrest news. Glo will join Meg on the Hot Girl Summer Tour, which kicks off next month in Minneapolis.

Glo has also been in the headlines for her heated back-and-forth with City Girls rapper JT after name-dropping her in the lyrics of the Ehhthang Ehhthang track “Aite.” In an interview with Billboard News on the 2024 CMT Music Awards red carpet last week, GloRilla brushed off the drama. “Everything just always everything,” she said when asked about JT. “At the end of the day, that day gon’ motherf—in’ end. Everything is everything. That day gotta end.”

“INSANO BOY IS COMIN,” Cudi posted Tuesday night along with a picture of himself looking pensive along with the updated schedule for the final day of this year’s festival, along with the tease, “Who’s coming?? @coachella.” The day’s lineup will also include headlining sets from Doja Cat, Lil Yachty, Jhené Aiko and J Balvin, as well as spots from Reneé Rapp, Bebe Rexha, The Rose, Victoria Monét, Diplo and Tems.

Cudi last performed at Coachella in 2019, during which he ended his set with a run through the 2009 Man on the Moon: The End of Day track “Pursuit of Happiness,” which he dedicated to Mac Miller and Nipsey Hussle. That year’s set also included some of Cudi’s most beloved hits, including “Up Up & Away,” “Erase Me,” “Memories,” “Day ‘N’ Night” and “Mr. Rager.” Not for nothing, in announcing this weekend’s lineup, the official Coachella Instagram account captioned their post, “On the pursuit of happiness.”

Jessica Chastain Recalls Her Beyoncé & Jay-Z Music Video Cameo: ‘I Would Always Work With The Carters’

Not many people can say they’ve won an Oscar and worked with Beyoncé — but Jessica Chastain can.

In a conversaition with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at the 10th Breakthrough Prize Awards on Saturday, the Eyes of Tammy Faye actress reflected on working with Queen Bey and Jay-Z back in 2017.

“I would always work with The Carters. There’s no , like, yeah of course,” she said. “That’s why the second I got the call about their music video that I did, ‘Family Feud,’ [I said] ‘This is not even a question, you don’t even need to ask this question.’”

In 2017, Chastain starred in a music video for “Family Feud” — a track from Jay-Z’s Billboard 200-topping 4:44. The visual, helmed by Oscar nominee Ava DuVernay, featured an eye-popping cast of film and television stars, including Michael B. Jordan, Rosario Dawson, Brie Larson, Thandiwe Newton, Trevante Rhodes, Omari Hardwick, Niecy Nash, Janet Mock and Mindy Kaling. The cinematic clip begins in the year 2050 with a grown-up Blue Ivy Carter leading a convention of the Founding Mothers of a fictional nation.

DuVernay won the 2018 BET Award for video director of the year for the “Family Feud” music video, and the song peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy nomination for best rap/sung performance.

Recently, Chastain showed her love for the “II Most Wanted” singer by using the Hot 100-topping “Texas Hold ‘Em” in a video of her getting ready for an awards show. “Whenever she needs me, I’m there,” added the Oscar winner, who picked up her leading actress statuette for 2022’s The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

While fans continue to wait on the Renaissance and Cowboy Carter visuals, they can see their fellow Beyhive member Chastain in the recently released psychological thriller Mothers’ Instinct. The Benoît Delhomme-helmed flick, which co-stars Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, is a 1960s-set remake of Olivier Masset-Depasse’s 2018 French-language film same of the name. Masset-Depasse’s film is adapted from Barbra Abel’s 2012 novel.
