Host Drew Afualo gives flowers to Billboard‘s Women in Music 2025 presenters and honorees, including aespa, Ángela Aguilar, Doechii and more. She also asks them who they give their flowers to, shares fun facts, and so much more!
Who do you give your flowers to? Let us know in the comments below!
Drew Afualo:
Hey y’all it’s Drew Afualo and I am back, yet again, hosting, but this time for 2025 Billboard Women in Music Awards and we are backstage. I am inside the belly of the beast team. Here I’m talking to all of the award winners, the presenters, the performers, everyone and anyone and I’m going to be falling in love with many tonight, and I will catch you in a little. Bye! Here we are again, backstage with the iconic, the legendary Ángela Aguilar. Honored to have you, queen. How are you feeling tonight?
Ángela Aguilar:
I’m so happy. No more nerves. Tequila hit and the speech was good. I feel good.
Period. I could hear the mariachis in the air.
I know!
Stunning and gorgeous. And when they walked out, I said, ‘Period, period, period,’ as they were walking past. ‘Yes, thank you. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Work, it, work, it.’ Love that. I think you’re stunning and amazing. So actually, first I want to ask you, how does it feel celebrating other women in music tonight?
It feels amazing. You know, I’m very happy to be here, because my mom has always been behind the scenes, and she was always my momager, she was like, helping me since I was very little with like my dress and stuff,
That’s cute.
And they’re honoring her tonight as well.
Oh my gosh, how amazing.
The first awards ceremony that they honor me and my mom, and she deserves it more than I do.
Oh my gosh, that’s so sweet and amazing. What a milestone. Incredible. So for some fun things, I actually am going to give you some flowers tonight.
Keep watching for more!
All Swiftie eyes will be turned toward the 2025 American Music Awards later this month, as fans are absolutely convinced that Taylor Swift is planning to announce something major at this year’s ceremony.
There are several reasons for the detective-like fanbase’s latest hunch. Two of the biggest ones tie back to the pop superstar’s online store, which fans noticed now covertly spells out “AMAs” via the first letters of each word in a prominent four-option menu: Apparel, Music, Accessories and Sale.
Additionally, Swift’s site currently has exactly 12 items up for sale at 26% off, which fans have pointed out as two significant numbers. First, the 14-time Grammy winner’s last album — the 17-week Billboard 200-topping Tortured Poets Department — was her 11th studio LP, meaning her next project would be her 12th. Second, the date of the 2025 AMAs is May 26.
Trending on Billboard
That, of course, isn’t all. Taylor Nation recently reshared a fan’s post on X about voting for Swift at this year’s AMAs (she’s nominated in six categories in 2025) and wrote, “And our town, it looks so sMall from wAy up here.”
“Screamed, ‘vote for the chairman’ at the night sky!” Swift’s team added in the May 6 post.
On the surface, those lines appear to be a simple play on a lyric from Swift’s track “thanK you aIMee.” But you also might notice the randomly capitalized letters in the sentence; put them together, and what do they spell? “AMAs.”
With all of that in mind, Swifties are sure the “Fortnight” singer has something special planned for the 2025 awards. The repetition of the number 12 in her potential Easter eggs has a lot of people thinking that an announcement pertaining to her next proper album is in the cards, but some are holding out hope that she’ll actually reveal something about her long-anticipated Reputation or Taylor Swift re-records.
“Her store spelling out AMAS, 12 items on sale for 26% (the amas are on the 26th), TN capitalizing a caption to spell out AMAS…. guys… THESE ARE EASTER EGGS,” one fan wrote on X.
Another person added, “i think this enough reasonable clown material.”
If Swift does unveil something album-related at the AMAs, it would be far from the first time she’s used an award show for that purpose. It was at the 2022 VMAs that she announced Midnights, and while accepting best pop vocal album for that same LP at the 2024 Grammys, she announced Tortured Poets.
The Eras headliner also has a special history with the AMAs in particular. In 2019, she was declared the show’s second-ever artist of the decade, performing a medley of her biggest hits before accepting the honor on stage. She’s also the most-decorated artist in AMAs history, boasting 40 awards in her collection total.
Airing live on Memorial Day, or May 26, the AMAs will be available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. The upcoming show comes after Swift was recently spotted out and about with boyfriend Travis Kelce for the first time in months, dining at a Philadelphia restaurant on Mother’s Day (May 11) after mostly lying low following the conclusion of the Eras Tour in December.
See what Swifties are saying about the possibility of a big AMAs announcement below.

Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” spends a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. A week earlier, the song became the singer-songwriter’s first leader on the chart.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” scores a 17th week atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. survey. The ballad first hit No. 1 on the list last September.
The Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, which began in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States.
Trending on Billboard
Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.
“Ordinary” leads the Global 200 with 65.9 million streams (essentially even week-over-week) and 11,000 sold (down 9%) worldwide May 2-8.
The entire Global 200’s top five holds in place from a week earlier: “Die With a Smile” at No. 2, after 18 weeks at No. 1 beginning last September (second only to the 19 weeks at No. 1 for Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” since the chart began); ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” at No. 3, after 12 weeks at No. 1 starting in November; Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” at No. 4, following three weeks at No. 1 last August; and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” at No. 5, after it logged seven weeks on top in February-April 2024.
“Die With a Smile” adds a 17th week at No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S., with 64.8 million streams (down 3%) and 3,000 sold (down 5%) outside the U.S. The song holds the second-longest rule in the chart’s archives:
19 weeks at No. 1, “APT.,” ROSÉ & Bruno Mars (2024-25)
17 weeks, “Die With a Smile,” Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars (2024-25)
14 weeks, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Mariah Carey (2021-25)
13 weeks, “Flowers,” Miley Cyrus (2023)
13 weeks, “As It Was,” Harry Styles (2022)
“Ordinary” rises 3-2 for a new Global Excl. U.S. best; “APT.” drops 2-3; JENNIE’s “like JENNIE” keeps at No. 4, after hitting No. 3; and “Birds of a Feather” repeats at No. 5, following three weeks at No. 1 last August.
The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated May 17, 2025) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, May 13. For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboard’s subscription-based service. Justin Bieber made sure Hailey Bieber felt extra appreciated on her very first Mother’s Day as a parent, giving his famous wife a lavish celebration that he shared on Instagram Sunday (May 11).
In one video shared by the pop star, Justin films Hailey while sitting next to her at an outdoor poolside dinner table decked out with flowers, candles and a bowl of tortilla chips as a mariachi quartet enters the frame. As the musicians play their instruments, the Rhode founder covers her mouth with surprise, periodically looking back at her husband and smiling lovingly.
Also on Mother’s Day, Justin shared a carousel of photos of Hailey hanging out in a living room area as hockey plays on the TV. In one shot, the back of 9-month-old Jack Blues’ head is visible in the bottom right corner of the frame.

“Best mommy day gurlie,” the “Yummy” singer captioned the post.
The holiday marked the Biebers’ first time celebrating Mother’s Day since welcoming baby Jack in August, becoming parents six years after tying the knot in 2018. On her own Instagram page, Hailey shared photos from her pregnancy in 2024 as well as more recent snaps of her son’s tiny hands and feet, writing, “i love being your mommy Jack Blues. Happy Mothers Day.”
The couple has deliberately refrained from sharing their child’s face online, but they do keep fans in the loop by sometimes posting photos of Jack that don’t show defining features. In April, the “Peaches” artist uploaded a photo of his son perched on his belly, seemingly ready to start crawling.
Justin and Hailey’s Mother’s Day posts come a few weeks after they attended Coachella together. After returning home to Los Angeles, Justin called out the city’s paparazzi by posting a video of a flock of photographers blocking his path outside as he walked to his car.
“This has to stop,” he captioned the clip, later writing in a follow-up post, “IM CURRENTLY ASKING [GOD] TO HELP ME WITH PATIENCE BECAUSE It CAN BE REALLY HARD TO NOT RIP THESE F–KIN GUYS HEADS OFF.”

The 2025 senior class of Northeastern University is moving up in the world, but not before getting a proper sendoff from Cardi B, ROSÉ and Ed Sheeran at their commencement ceremony on Sunday (May 11).
As captured in clips filmed by this year’s graduates of the private Boston institution, the three musical superstars all appeared in a pre-taped montage that played on the screens at Fenway Park to congratulate the students on their shared achievement. Waving at the camera as the crowd erupted with surprised cheers, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper said in the video, “I hope whatever you studied for and worked for, it pays off.”
“I hope you guys now enjoy the real world, because college and the real world is very different,” Cardi added, smiling.

For her part, the BLACKPINK star told the graduates, “Wishing everyone the best as you guys start this next chapter,” while Sheeran said, “Congratulations, I hope everyone’s having a good time there.”
All three of the stars are signed to Atlantic Records, whose CEO, Elliot Grainge, delivered this year’s commencement address at the ceremony. A Northeastern alum, the label boss told the class of 2025 that they represent, “a future we haven’t seen, a future we can’t fully imagine, and won’t truly understand, until you build it,” according to Northeastern Global News.
“Each and every one of you were raised on speed, technology and constant evolution,” he added from the podium. “You’ll shape culture, technology, business and politics in ways we can’t yet fathom.”
Grainge is just one of many high-profile music industry figures speaking at graduation ceremonies this year. As previously announced, Usher will deliver the address at Emory University’s commencement on Monday (May 12), while Snoop Dogg is set to do the honors at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business celebration on May 17.
Maggie Rogers also recently shared that she’ll be speaking at the May 16 commencement ceremony for her alma mater, New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
Their video appearance at Northeastern’s commencement comes as both ROSÉ and Sheeran are gearing up for the release of Atlantic’s F1 film soundtrack, on which they will appear alongside Tate McRae, RAYE, Burna Boy, Roddy Rich, Dom Dolla, Chris Stapleton, Tiësto, Sexyy Red and more. The K-pop performer’s single for the project, “Messy,” dropped Friday (May 8).
Cardi has long been working on her highly anticipated sophomore album, about which she recently gave fans an update. Revealing that the LP has been slowed by its featured artists delaying their contributions, the “WAP” musician said on X Spaces, “I need y’all to hurry up.”
Kelly Clarkson is getting candid with fans about why she hasn’t been hitting the road lately.
During her concert in Atlantic City, N.J., on Friday (May 9), the 43-year-old pop star and TV personality told the crowd that touring isn’t realistic right now due to the demanding schedule of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
“We haven’t done a show in a while, y’all, ’cause I have a talk show. It’s like a whole other job,” Clarkson said, referencing her band, according to Page Six. The Grammy winner also noted that being a single mother takes up much of her time.
Still, Clarkson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform two nights at Atlantic City’s Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena — her first live shows in nearly six months.
“We are bummed ’cause we love doing shows, and it’s hard to fit it in, so it’s cool when it does work out with the schedule,” the American Idol alum told the audience. “And it’s cool to get to see your faces and feed off y’all. Thank you so much for having so much energy.”
Trending on Billboard
Her 90-minute set included fan-favorite hits such as “My Life Would Suck Without You,” “Because of You,” “Breakaway,” “Miss Independent,” “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and “Since U Been Gone.” It marked her first full-length concert since November 2024.
Clarkson hasn’t embarked on a full tour since 2019. In the years since, she has booked Las Vegas residencies — including shows at PH Live at Planet Hollywood in 2023 and 2024. Earlier this year, she announced a new Vegas residency, Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The show opens July 4 and runs through July and August, with additional dates scheduled for November.
In March, Clarkson celebrated the milestone 1,000th episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. The daytime program, which launched in 2019, was renewed by NBC Owned Television Stations for a seventh season in December 2024. Her contract is set to expire next year, Page Six reports.
The show has earned 22 Daytime Emmy Awards, including eight individual wins for Clarkson herself. Most recently, it won outstanding daytime talk series for the fourth consecutive year at the 2024 Daytime Emmys.
Now in its sixth season, The Kelly Clarkson Show averages 1.2 million viewers per day and remains one of the top syndicated talk shows in the country, airing on more than 200 stations nationwide.
Miley Cyrus is putting family first. On the heels of dropping her new single, the ballad “More to Lose,” the singer released a statement on Saturday (May 10) in response to rumors of a rift with parents Tish and Billy Ray.
“I rarely comment on rumors,” Miley noted in an update shared via Instagram Story on her official account. “But my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us. She’s my best friend.”
“Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me–simple, coincidental, and uninteresting,” she said, in reference to murmurs that Tish had reportedly unfollowed her on the social media app earlier this week.
Trending on Billboard
Her statement continued: “My dad and I have had our challenges over the years. Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.”
“Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family,” Miley concluded her message.
Fans had expressed concern about the alleged unfollowing in various comments on Tish’s recent Instagram posts, to which she responded that she didn’t know she’d apparently unfollowed her daughter. “have no idea how that happened but it’s fixed now!” read Tish’s reply to one of those comments on Wednesday, May 7. (At press time on Saturday, she follows Miley on Instagram.)
On Wednesday, Billy Ray had posted a video clip with Miley performing at the piano, along with the caption, “Can’t wait to see this young lady. Crazy how time flies.”
On Friday, he uploaded a snapshot of himself with his son Braison, plus Miley and her boyfriend Maxx Morando, all together in celebration of Braison’s birthday.
Miley’s new song “More to Lose” is off of the imminent album Something Beautiful, a 13-track collection due out on May 30. It’ll be the follow-up to 2023’s Endless Summer Vacation, which was led by the Grammy-winning, Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single “Flowers”; Endless Summer Vacation reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
“I tried to keep it a singular take,” she shared with fans about recording the emotional track “More to Lose.” “It’s really a song that’s more of a story, and I never want that to be interrupted or overthought or chasing perfection. I never wanted ‘More to Lose’ to be perfect, I wanted it to sound beautiful and emotional.”
During a special evening with Spotify last week, Cyrus gave more insight into Something Beautiful, revealing the album’s overarching theme as “beauty, but not what beauty represents by a standard of someone else’s idea.” In another sound-bite from the event, she said — to cheers from the audience — “On a scale of, I think, one to gay, how gay is this album? It’s not only my best album, but also my gayest.”
