It was Grammy Weekend in Los Angeles, which in some circles means an event even more anticipated than the actual Grammy Awards, the Roc Nation Brunch. The annual event went down at a private residence in Bel Air on Saturday, February 4, and once again it featured a who’s who of industry movers and shakers, and the occasional clout chasers who finessed their way in.
Some of the A-listers in attendance, besides Beyonce and Jay-Z, of course, included Lil’ Kim, DJ Khaled, Lil Uzi Vert, Tyler the Creator, Benny The Butcher, Victor Cruz, Kelly Rowland and many, many more
Scoring an invite to The Brunch also means stepping out in your best attire because everyone is going to be watching, snapping photos and taking footage for the ‘Gram. That is, if you’re allowed to.
And from the looks of the pics, there are some dastardly stylists out in these Hip-Hop streets, respectfully.
Also, where is the food, bruv?
As for the brunch itself, peep some of the yays and occasional nays from the 2023 Roc Nation Brunch in the gallery.

Smokey Robinson is an amazing talent and still going strong as he approaches the age of 83 later this month. However, the legendary singer and songwriter got some folks scratching their heads after prepping a new album titled GASMS and the song titles alone truly has Twitter saying Robinson is deep in his nasty bag.
Smokey Robinson, 82, hasn’t dropped a new project in nearly a decade according to a press release and GASMS is definitely not an acronym as far as we can tell. We’re petty certain the name is short for orgasms based on the aforementioned titles that we’re about to share below.
TRACKLIST:
01. Gasms02. How You Make Me Feel03. I Wanna Know Your Body04. I Keep Callin’ You05. Roll Around06. Besides07. If We Don’t Have Each Other08. You Fill Me Up09. I Fit In There
Currently, one of GASM’s tamer song titles, “If We Don’t Have Each Other,” is the current single ahead of the nine-track LP’s release on April 28. We don’t need to do any guesswork on songs like “I Fit In There” and “Roll Around” but we’re not mad at the living legend for getting his sexy man swag all the way up.
On Twitter, folks aren’t trying to let Smokey Robinson live and have lots to say about the upcoming GASMS and the song titles. Check out those reactions and the single, “If We Don’t Have Each Other,” below.

Maxine Waters, a battle-tested member of Congress, has long been a fierce champion for the American people while representing California and other members of the Democratic Party. During a House Rules Committee hearing, Waters handled the false accusations from Republican Party opponents that she embraces socialism, doing so with expert ease.
Rep. Maxine Waters of California was present at the Tuesday (Jan. 31) hearing for a debate to sign a resolution against socialism, a long-running crusade for conservative members of Congress still worshipping at the feet of McCarthyism and threats of the “Red Scare.”
Waters, who sits as a ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, pushed back at the charges of socialism levied against her by Rep. Nick Langworthy of New York, after the congressman asked Waters to address a 2019 declaration issued by former President Doandl Trump that America will never fall under socialist rule.
“One of the problems I have with this resolution is, I don’t know everything that you’re talking about when you talk about socialism,” Water fired back. “There are things that you embrace that fall within that so-called socialism definition.”
Rep. Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania then went on a half-baked attack against Waters in demanding she condemns socialism, but it failed spectacularly.
“The American public is going to wonder why Republicans are wasting our time today with this divisive resolution instead of focusing on the real threats to our economy and democracy,” Waters said. “What is this all about? Is it about saying you want to cut Social Security? You want to cut Medicare? You don’t care about the debt ceiling? Please.”
Rep. Reschenthaler then stepped in a steaming pile of horse puckey of his party’s own doing.
“You can’t condemn socialism?” Reschenthaler asked. “In your opening remarks, you were talking about Putin, Kim Jong Un and Xi. You know what they all have in common, right?”
Waters simply fired back, “Trump.”
Classic Auntie Maxine.

Jason Whitlock doesn’t deserve a bit of our attention but we can’t stand by and ignore his latest head-scratching statement in the name of free thought. The sportscaster and political commentator called into question the various protests cropping up in the wake of a video going wide showing the murder of Tyre Nichols at the hands of five Black Memphis police officers.
Jason Whitlock, 55, tweeted out a question Friday night (Jan. 27) regarding the reaction to the footage of the five officers beating Nichols after a traffic stop, who later succumbed to his injuries on Jan 10. The city of Memphis continually urged its residents and outside observers to show restraint once the footage of the encounter went wide.
While the Memphis Police Department promptly fired and changed the five officers, most took note of the fact that action was swift when it came to these officers which stand in contrast to actions handed down to their white counterparts involved in similar incidents nationwide.
That fact was seemingly lost on Whitlock, and his tweet displayed his seemingly feigned curiosity as to why people are angered.
“Five police officers in Memphis appear to have committed a violent homicide. They’ve been fired and charged with second-degree murder. What is the protest about? What hasn’t happened?” Whitlock tweeted.
Shortly after that tweet, Whitlock shared a promo for his Blaze TV show, Fearless, which was centered around respecting law enforcement officers and the like. It was a clear shot at the encounter Nichols had with the elite SCORPION police unit in Memphis just mere yards from his home.
One of the most outlandish comments to come from Whitlock came from his appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show discussing the video and the passing of Nichols. While Whitlock was clear in calling the acts of the officers a crime, something he’s never done so swiftly in the past it seems, there was one point of contention that journalist Gretchen Carlson noted in a tweet.
Whitlock quote-tweeted with a response, writing, “What was crazy about my comment, Gretchen? What are the benefits of communities/neighborhoods run by matriarchal, baby-mama culture? You planning to relocate your intact nuclear family into one?”
There is no changing the sturdy, ham-fisted mind of Jason Whitlock and we’ll spare readers more of his asinine commentary. However, what we will share is how Twitter is cooking him and his ashy sew-in alive. Keep scrolling.

Chef Way, the TikTok chef who came under fire for his past tweets targeting Black women, also worked as a Texas prosecutor. In the wake of the massive controversy surrounding his social media presence, Chef Way resigned from the job after apologizing for his past actions.
Chef Way, real name Waymond Wesley, found fame on TikTok by way of his cooking prowess and seemingly positive attitude. However, some observers noted that in a former life, Wesley was known as @WaymoTheGod on Twitter back in 2015 and he often engaged in measured attacks on Black women, especially those of darker hues. In some instances, the tweets were relentless and shamelessly vicious and the harm caused lived with those who had the misfortune of witnessing the acts.
Fast forward to now, Wesley emerged as a chef and quickly amassed brand deals and a large following. However, the past tweets found their way into the spotlight with Wesley scrambling earnestly to apologize and move on beyond the fracas. A half-baked apology ensued and it then came out that Wesley earned a role at the Harris County District Attorney’s office in Texas. Harris County officials were swiftly made aware of Wesley’s old tweets and were willing to extend a second chance to him.
The weight of the issue proved to be too much to overcome and Chef Way issued a lengthy post to Instagram expressing remorse for his actions.
From IG:
Seven years ago, in my early twenties, from a place of pain fueled by alcoholism, I would lash out at people on Twitter to seek attention, including Black women. I deeply regret and am sorry for my tweets. To be fully transparent, at the time, I was severely addicted to alcohol, underweight, sleep deprived, and in and out of rehab and sober living facilities. By God’s grace, I’ve been sober for more than 6 years now. In total, I spent around 19 months in inpatient and residential facilities to treat my alcoholism. Alcoholism is a disease. It nearly killed me. I am not the man I was [in] 2015.
The apology builds upon an earlier apology that Wesley posted on January 9 when all of the older tweets came to light. Wesley says that he hopes to redeem himself through acts of service and faith but the comments on Instagram are especially unforgiving.
We’ve gathered some reactions from Twitter below.
