The world will have the chance to own a piece of fashion history. Some of André Leon Talley’s prized items are going to auction.

As per High Snobiety, the late great’s fashion collection is going under the hammer. This February, Christie’s is proud to present the collection of the legendary fashion editor André Leon Talley. As the first Black man to hold the title Creative Director of American Vogue, Mr. Talley held a rarefied status in the fashion industry.

His discerning taste extended well beyond fashion and his personal collection encompasses haute couture, handbags, jewelry, fine art, literature and decorative arts. As a whole, the collection is both glamourous and intimate, reflecting his decades-long relationships with icons including Karl Lagerfeld, Diane von Furstenberg , Ralph Rucci, Tom Ford, Diana Vreeland and Anna Wintour.

The Collection of André Leon Talley features a selection of custom couture, personalized handbags and artwork. The sale features a Set of Two: a Personalized Brown Monogram Canvas Hardsided Train Case & a Brown Monogram Canvas Hardside Train Case which were featured in the Sex and the City movie, A Gold Brocade Caftan by Dapper Dan and Mr. Talley’s iconic Straw Boater Hats. The Collection of André Leon Talley is also highlighted by Andy Warhol’s Candy Box (True Love) painting; a personal gift from the artist to Mr. Talley.
Proceeds from the live and online auctions will benefit the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York and Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church  in Durham, North Carolina; both of which were close to Mr. Talley’s heart. The Collection of André Leon Talley will be auctioned Wednesday, Feb. 15. You can sign up to bid here.

Glitter in her eyes, glitter in the sky, Dua Lipa will be shining just the way she likes at this year’s Met Gala. As announced by Vogue on Wednesday (Jan. 18), the 27-year-old pop star has signed on to be one of four 2023 co-chairs for the A-list fashion event that comes around every first Monday in May.

Joining the pop star as fellow co-chairs are Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel and Roger Federer, a lineup that spans “every realm of popular culture,” according to Vogue. The four of them will assist Anna Wintour in planning a night based around this year’s theme — Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty — which pays tribute to the late German fashion designer.

The “Levitating” singer posted the news on her Instagram account, writing, “Excited to announce that I am one of the #MetGala 2023 Co-Chairs… See you for the First Monday in May #CostumeInstitute Benefit 🌹”

As explained by Dua further down in her post, this year’s gala will celebrate the May 5 opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” exhibit. Every year, the exclusive event also provides the museum’s Costume Institute with its primary source of annual funding.

“Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” will showcase more than 150 original looks designed by Lagerfeld, who died at 85 years old in 2019, delving into the former Chanel creative director’s expansive seven-decade career. Many of his original sketches are also set to appear alongside the objects on display.

Last year’s Met Gala, themed “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” was co-chaired by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda. So far, Dua has attended the event just once, making her Met Gala debut in 2019 dressed in Versace for that year’s theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”

Just when you thought luxury fashion could not get any more irrational Yves Saint Laurent is about to release a leftover box inspired bag priced at around $2,000.

As spotted on Hypebeast the French label is challenging the norm when it comes to accessory innovation. Officially billed as the “Take-Away Box In Vegetable-Tanned Leather,” this piece mirrors the standard shape of a to-go box you would get at chain restaurant (think Outback Steakhouse or Chili’s). Naturally the brand sought out to advance it with premium materials namely the calfskin leather and suede lining interior. As expected we get their signature logo placed boldly in the center for all the designer emblem feels.

While the Yves Saint Laurent “Take-Away Box” is sure to inspire some double takes and random questions from strangers, that added attention won’t coe cheap. This piece is priced at a cool $1,890.
Mind you it’s only seven inches tall and eight inches wide. But if you feel inclined to shop you can buy it here.

Vivienne Westwood died on Thursday (Dec. 29) at the age of 81, and the music community flocked to social media to pay tribute to the fashion icon.

“Viv! My friend, my idol, my icon. There is not enough time or space in this format to appropriately describe the ways you impacted music, fashion, culture, and the like,” Halsey captioned a photo of herself and Westwood seated together in the front row of a fashion show. “Your legacy is immortal and eternal. I hope we will all continue to break boundaries and question institutions in your example and memory. I will cherish all of our conversations and teas (and *tea*! you had the best stories). Love always, and long live Queen Viv.”

Courtney Love, meanwhile, paid tribute to the designer on her Instagram Stories, writing, “I am so very sorry she has left & so very glad that she lived. & her message always will. Xxx.”&

Cyndi Lauper reminisced about Westwood’s vibrant fashion shows from the 1990s and legacy as a pioneer in “punk couture,” while Annie Lennox memorialized the designer’s longstanding commitment to activism. “Her life force simply blew definitions out of the water,” the Eurythmics singer shared, “far more an eighteen year old than eighty – one in human years – A fearless, formidable force of nature who turned everything upside down – inside out and back to front, both ‘literally’ and figuratively! Britain’s version of ‘Frida Kahlo’… Not ‘gone’ – She’s just moved elsewhere…”

RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. winner The Vivienne, whose drag name was inspired by the designer, also paid tribute on Twitter. “Vivienne Westwood is the woman that showed me I could do anything, I could wear what I wanted, she was an ICON and I lived my life through hers in some sorts of way,” the reality contestant tweeted. “There will never be another, but we’ll continue your fight.”

R.I.P to the great and inspiring Vivienne Westwood who lead us through punk and beyond. Laughed at by the fashion industry but without question she is the undisputed Queen of British fashion. I love you! Oh bondage up yours! pic.twitter.com/O6RZqpEVLq— Boy George (@BoyGeorge) December 29, 2022

Beloved British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood died on Thursday (Dec. 29). She was 81 years old.
The style icon’s fashion house shared the news via Twitter, revealing that Westwood died “peacefully and surrounded by her family, in Clapham, South London.” The statement added, “The world needs people like Vivienne to make a change for the better.”
The designer rose to prominence in the fashion world in the 1970s, thanks to her anti-establishment punk styles and controversial, androgynous designs. The new wave style icon was also a passionate activist, and frequently channeled issues like climate change into her runway looks.
Over the years, Westwood has been the go-to designer for a number of stars, who have turned to her funky, daring collections for their red carpet appearances, magazine covers and more.
To honor the late fashion legend, we’ve compiled some of our favorite photos of musicians wearing Vivienne Westwood, from Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo and Halsey to Lady Gaga and Adele. See below.

Baby, this is what you came for. In a saucy Thursday (Nov. 17) Instagram video, Rihanna showed off both her Savage X Fenty lingerie line and her bare booty — and it’s definitely not safe for work.

In the video, the nine-time Grammy winner stands alone in a room as she models her clothing company’s Renaissance Rose Corset Dress, currently on sale on the Savage X Fenty website. Blowing kisses, staring down the camera and turning around to show how little the dress covers, Ri completed the look with a messy updo, fingerless gloves, leathery black stockings and pumps with heels made to look like rose flowers.

Probably knowing that her video very much speaks for itself, the “Stay” singer simply directed followers to where they can steal her style in her caption. “Savagex.com,” she wrote.

The steamy post comes just over a week after Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 fashion show premiered on Prime Video Nov. 9. The fluorescent, surrealistic visual experience debuted new pieces in the Fenty Beauty founder’s apparel collections and featured performances from Anitta, Burna Boy, Don Toliver and Maxwell.

Rihanna is still fresh off releasing her first pieces of new music in six years, earlier this month dropping “Lift Me Up,” which debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100, and “Born Again” as part of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. Come February of next year, she’ll perform as the headliner at Super Bowl LVII.

Beyoncé has been working with her stylist Ty Hunter for years, and the two of them have worked together to come up with some of her most iconic looks throughout her career. One of them — her show-stopping beaded black dress and veil combo worn at the 2014 Met Gala — was the topic of conversation Thursday (Nov. 10) in a People Every Day interview with the fashion expert, who revealed that a certain soul music icon had actually been the inspiration behind it.

Hunter first spoke about how the Givenchy look, created for that year’s gala theme “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” was designed by Riccardo Tisci. “He just gets it,” he said of the designer. “Not too many people that can bring the sketch to life and look exactly like the photo. He just did a great job.”

The celebrity stylist then shared that it was none other than the queen leader of The Supremes whose essence he, Bey and Tisci strove to emulate with the gown. “It was like [an] homage to Diana Ross, which is my favorite,” Hunter said.

Hunter is fresh off the release of his new memoir, Makeover From Within: Lessons in Hardship, Acceptance, and Self-Discovery, for which he asked the “Break My Soul” singer to write the foreword. “When I asked Bey, she was like, ‘I’d be honored. Of course I’ll do that,’” he told People. “The words that she wrote just touched me. I tear up every time I read it.”
