Espolòn Tequila, an award-winning brand operated by the stellar Campari Group, joined forces with streetwear brand PAISABOYS and famed street artist SentRock for a month-long celebration they’re calling Cinco Para Todos. Simply put, the brands want folks to celebrate Cinco de Mayo all month long via Cinco Para Todos with the release of a fashion collection and pop-ups throughout the nation.

We’re late getting this story up as the brand launched officially on Cinco de Mayo (May 5) and that’s on us. That said, let’s get more into what Cinco Para Todos is all about.

The line features artwork that depicts the artists’ Mexican heritage and pride, and there are planned pop-ups in Chicago, New York City, Miami, Chicago, Austin, and Phoenix all month long.
In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, cult-favorite streetwear brand, PAISABOYS, as well as notable street artist Sentrock (presented by Stadium Goods), have partnered with Espolòn Tequila to launch the Cinco Para Todos collection, which celebrates modern Mexican culture. Espolòn will be operating tortilleria parties in the aforementioned cities where fans can get their hands on the exclusive drop.

“Some of the best music, food and innovations have come from Mexico, so Espolòn continues to celebrate this culture year round. As a tequila made in the heart of Jalisco, Espolòn Tequila proudly celebrates the impact of the rich culture of modern Mexican creatives and game changers, and want to encourage others to do the same,” Sean Yelle, Senior Category Marketing Director, White Spirits at Campari America, shared in a statement. “Cinco Para Todos was created to extend celebrations and highlight creators who are changing culture and delivering authentic experiences, to keep the spirit of Mexico alive all season long.”
“As first generation Mexican-Americans and Los Angeles natives, our background and community have inspired some of our most successful designs,” Javier Bandera and Joey Barba, Co-Founders of the streetwear brand, PAISABOYS, added in a statement. “For this collection, we wanted to create something that was inspired by Espolòn Tequila as well as the vibrant Mexican culture that’s so prevalent in LA and bring that distinctive vibe to streetwear fanatics across the country.”
“Espolòn Tequila and I share a passion for freedom and expression, which is why the design I created for the line pairs my trademark symbol – the bird-mask – with theirs – Ramón the Rooster – to show our shared values while also paying homage to our rich culture,” Sentrock shared.

As a side note, fans of Lupe Fiasco might know that the artist has a song named after him that just dropped from his fellow Chicago native.

John Legend isn’t holding back. After Megyn Kelly ripped into the outfit Chrissy Teigen wore for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last weekend, the “All Of Me” singer had some choice words for the polarizing conservative commentator.

Speaking to TMZ on Thursday (May 4), Legend theorized that Kelly chose to attack his wife in an attempt to get back into the Republican party’s good graces. “Megyn, she likes attention,” said the 12-time Grammy winner. “She needs it after getting fired from Fox, so she has to do what she can do to get attention.” [Editor’s note: Kelly chose to leave the cable news network in 2017 to join NBC News.]

“She pissed all the conservatives off when she asked Trump a tough question, so now she’s trying to figure out a way to win them back,” Legend added. “She’s desperate.”

Indeed, Kelly has clashed with Trump and his followers ever since she asked the former president point-blank about his track record of calling women “fat pigs” and “slobs” during a Republican debate in 2015. Eight years later, Teigen attends President Biden’s 2023 WHCD in a leggy gown and a few assistants there to help carry her train — and Kelly takes issue.

“I see Chrissy Tiegen’s underpants,” the former Fox News host tweeted Monday (May 1). “And her smug elitism.”

In her SiriusXM show, Kelly also blasted Teigen for having “minions” carry the train of her “nonexistent” dress. But Legend told TMZ of the commentator, “She can just shut up.”

As for whether his wife actually deserves to be called “elitist,” Legend said that Teigen is actually “very kind, very loving, very down to earth.” And as to whether she feel bad for having helpers on hand to make sure her dress didn’t drag on the ground?

“No, why should she?” replied the musician, who agreed that getting help from assistants just comes with the territory of making public appearances as a celebrity.

It’s an accomplishment for an artist to partner with a swanky fashion house, yet a next-level achievement is unlocked by designing a collection one’s self, from inspiration to garment. For Steven Zhu, better known as Grammy-nominated producer ZHU, the feat has been reached with the debut of his rave culture-inspired NIGHTDAY fashion line.

This past March, ZHU hosted a private preview to those in the merchandising world in his showroom at the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles. This past Friday, he opened this same showroom to fans for the first public viewing of the line. The entirely self-funded collection is designed by ZHU himself, in collaboration with his former creative director and fashion designer Emmy Slattery, who’s also worked with electronic-centric artists and brands including Monolink, Lightning In a Bottle and Production Club.

Soon, the collection will be sold through select boutiques and retailers. While pricing is not yet set, tags will be high-end, in line with other luxury brands. (You can see exclusive images of NIGHTDAY below.)

Though the NIGHTDAY collection was previewed at his 2022 EDC Las Vegas – where ZHU performed while hosting a live fashion show on a specially constructed runway – it’s been a project at least seven years in the making.

“I’m a pretty visual person. I’m very inspired by rave culture; this is something that I’ve been a part of, I’m embedded in,” says the L.A.-based multi-hyphenate. “I feel like my style has just now become influential in a way where I’ve been finally able to get the ideas from my head to a pen to silhouettes to being on a body to those bodies being in person and people seeing them.”

The NIGHTDAY line is named after his 2014 debut EP, The Nightday. ZHU says at the time of the project’s release, “Nobody knew who I was, and it was very much about the club and dance floor.” This underground essence still plays a significant factor in his artistry – from music to clothing. Nodding at underground club culture, the NIGHTDAY collection is comprised of mostly all-black fits — from logo-free tees and hoodies to luxe leather duffles. The line focuses on the intersection of functionality and style, a flex as neither component is compromised on the dance floor.

“It’s about paying homage to the club. I’m an artist who came through the club originally by being a producer and DJ and making people dance, to evolving into somebody who is writing music and now playing at festivals and arenas,” he says. “As I’m taking this little piece of the club culture into a larger audience, I don’t want those people to forget where the fundamental origins came from — and what I’m doing with fashion is another way to tell that story.”

He cites Yohji Yamamoto, Rick Owens and Alexander McQueen as the designers and fashion houses he most admires, with the understated designs of Bottega Veneta and Prada also serving as inspiration. True to ZHU’s aesthetic, NIGHTDAY is the epitome of minimalist chic meets gritty nightlife with clean hemlines juxtaposed with glitzy fabrication.

ZHU recalls witnessing the fusion of dance music with high fashion over five years ago at the Kris Van Assche Dior Homme Autumn/Winter 2017 show and seeing a way he could elevate the effort.

“It was all rave inspired, but they weren’t booking the DJs or taking parts of the culture and putting it into their plan. I was frustrated,” ZHU says. “In hip-hop, you have artists and designers coming together in fashion and people sitting there at shows, and culturally, it’s integrating. But I feel like that’s not the case with dance music and fashion. So, a big part of this is that I can bring a bit of the culture into fashion. Hopefully, both sides can play off each other and create something exciting beyond just me.”

Bucking the cycles and seasons customary to the fashion world, ZHU aims to bend the rules by adopting a more spontaneous approach with NIGHTDAY. He mentions timing as a critical component of his decision to pursue fashion.

“You could have the best thing, but it is at the wrong time, and no one will care. Then, you could have the wrong thing, but if it’s at the right time, everybody will care,” he says. “So, I try to stay tapped into what I’m feeling on the ground level and what the streets are feeling, then move in that way.”

Music fans and fashion spectators alike were stunned by Doja Cat‘s high fashion take on Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette, at the Met Gala on Monday (May 1), and the pop star is clearly still feline fine in new photos she posted to Instagram on Wednesday (May 3).

The “Need to Know” rapper donned an ensemble very similar to her Oscar de la Renta Met Gala red carpet outfit. Doja is seen in the photo lying on a bed fitted in cream-colored sheets and a two-piece set consisting of a dazzling beaded top complete with a cat ear hood and a matching skirt in a blush pink shade.

Doja ditched the facial prosthetics she wore to the Met Gala and instead opted for intense black eyeliner, lashes and pink lipstick. One fan in the comments section remarked that she is a “literal doja cat,” while another Instagram user joked, “Absolutely puuurfect … get it??? I’ll see myself out.”

The star detailed her inspiration for her ensemble at this year’s Met Gala — which marked her first time ever attending the annual fundraising event — in a “get ready with me” interview with Vogue. “When this opportunity was even mentioned I thought about Carl and his cat and I was like, ‘I wanna be a cat,’” she recalled, adding, “I was trying to see if I could scare my cat with it, but he was just looking at me like ‘You look weird today, mom.’”

See Doja Cat’s new cat ensemble in the Instagram post below.

Dua Lipa‘s fashion endeavors are expanding. Just days after hosting the Met Gala, the “Levitating” singer and Donatella Versace announced on Thursday (May 4) they have collaborated on a women’s collection for Versace, which will make its formal debut in Cannes, France.

“The news is out! We are excited to announce the Versace ‘La Vacanza’ women’s collection, which we have co-designed,” the pair wrote in a joint Instagram post. “We will be showing the collection on Tuesday 23rd May in Cannes, France. We cannot wait to show you what we have created! #VersaceLaVacanza.”

“I am absolutely thrilled to have co-designed the women’s ‘La Vacanza’ collection for Versace with Donatella. She and I have formed such a strong bond over the years, and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received from her and the whole team since the very beginning of my career,” the 27-year-old shared in a quote posted to Versace’s official Instagram account. “For her to give me the honor of co-designing this collection and letting all my summer inspirations go wild has been a dream. I am so very proud of this collection and cannot wait to debut it in Cannes.”

The Italian fashion designer added, “I have always been inspired by a collaborative design process. Working with Dua on this collection has been very exciting and I love the dynamic between us. Dua is strong, fearless and free and her creative vision is exceptional. Summer is a magical time. We will capture this feeling and the colors of that time of the year with a truly special and intimate fashion show in Cannes.”

Lipa and Versace’s partnership isn’t a big surprise. Throughout the years, the pop star has worn many of the luxury brand’s looks on the red carpet, notably at the 2022 Grammy Awards and the 2019 Met Gala.

Another Met Gala has gone down in the history books! Musicians and celebrities alike descended upon New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 1) for the institution’s annual fundraising event, which also doubles as one of fashion’s biggest nights.

As always, the Met Gala follows a different theme each year, with 2023’s being “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” to honor the late designer who passed away in 2019; the theme followed in the footsteps of previous designer tributes, much like 2017’s “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” and 2011’s “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.”

With the event honoring Lagerfeld’s legacy in the fashion world, musicians in attendance could pull inspiration or from Lagerfeld’s designs for Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel and his eponymous brand, which resulted in the events attendees either dressing like the icon — see: Cardi B, Pusha T and Conan Gray — or going the more daring route by dressing like Lagerfeld’s famous feline Choupette

Doja Cat was the talk of the town, as she elegantly arrived in a backless hand-beaded white gown by Oscar de la Renta a fitted hood punctuated by glittering cat ears and forehead jewels. In a clear homage to Choupette, Doja accessorized the look with facial prosthetics to make her look even more catlike.

Bad Bunny made a splash in the menswear department by showing up in a fitted, cream colored suits decorated with fabric rosettes. The look was business in the front, and a party in the back, as his suit jacket was backless.

The 2023 Met Gala kicked off on the first Monday of May (May 1), and saw musicians, actresses and other celebrities dressed up in the most fashionable and head-turning garments while descending upon New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and more offered stunning looks, while Doja Cat, Jared Leto and Lil Nas X went the daring route with cat ensembles on the beige carpet, but some spectators were left wondering how feline costuming fit in line with the gala’s theme this year.

In line with previous themes such as 2017’s “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” and 2011’s “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” the 2023 Met Gala’s theme was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” to honor the late designer, who passed away in 2019. Attendees could pull from Lagerfeld’s designs for Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel and his eponymous brand for inspiration or archival looks, but in the case of Doja, Leto and Lil Nas X, they chose to pay homage to designer’s beloved cat, Choupette.

To pay tribute to Lagerfeld and his relationship with the Birman, Doja gave a high-fashion take on the famous feline, opting for a backless hand-beaded white gown by Oscar de la Renta (the designer also had a close relationship with Lagerfeld) with a fitted hood punctuated by glittering cat ears and forehead jewels. The rapper accessorized the look with facial prosthetics to make her look even more catlike.

Lil Nas X left little to the imagination with his crystal outfit, donning silver full-body glitter and matching sparkling underwear and platform shoes in collaboration with makeup artist Pat McGrath and Dior Men. For his face, Lil Nas was decorated with glittering whiskers, as well as pearls, appliqué, rhinestones and more. Cat-winged eyeliner and sharp claws (nails by Temeka Jackson) completed the “Call Me By Your Name (Montero)” rapper’s look.

Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto, meanwhile, wore a literal Choupette costume that looked just like Lagerfeld’s famous feline companion. As the singer-actor progressed on the carpet, he removed his cat head to reveal intense, glittering eye makeup, and later removed the body of the costume to show an all-black ensemble consisting of a bedazzled cape, shirt and trousers.

The annual Met Gala went down in New York City on Monday (May 1) and the fits did not disappoint. Actually, many of the Hip-Hop representing attendees understood the assignment, while some need to question the motivations of their stylists.
Touted as fashion’s biggest night, the 2023 edition of the Met Gala—officially known as the Costume Institute Benefit—served as a tribute to the late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld. Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art red carpet was littered celebs and would be style legends getting their best fits off.

Some, like Dwyane Wade, Rihanna (and her boyfriend/baby daddy A$AP Rocky) and Bad Bunny succeeded, others…well…they don’t give out participation trophies.
Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky got his fit off, but why’d he have to do this?

The culture was in there deep with Cardi B, Ice Spice, Lizzo and more hitting the red carpet. Also worth noting, Rih Rih and Pretty Flacko were so late the carpet was actually finished, but an exception was made. Check out the best, and worst, fits of the night that were rocked by some of your Hip-Hop representing (and adjacent) attendees in the building.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were last but certainly not least.

Diddy and City Girls‘ Yung Miami attended the 2023 Met Gala together Monday night (May 1), but once they arrived at the top of the famed stairs, host La La Anthony asked the “million-dollar question:” “Do y’all officially go together real bad?”
Diddy dodged the question by attempting to deflect to Yung Miami, whom he called by her first name Caresha. But once La La applied pressure, he finally responded. “We definitely go together real bad!” he said before clarifying, “She’s my date for the night. … We don’t put titles on it. Everybody wants us to put a title on it, we don’t put titles. This like my best friend in the world, one of the most beautiful people God has blessed me with. And I’m blessed that she’s my date tonight.”

Caresha chimed in by agreeing, “Yeah, it’s just a good date night.”

Puff Daddy couldn’t stop sweating during the red-carpet interview, desperately needing the assistance of a powder puff and mini portable fan to keep him cool. But the pressing questions about Love’s love life weren’t the only reason he was perspiring: Diddy showed up in an all-black ensemble from his fashion brand Sean John, which he bought back at the end of 2021 for $7.5 million, and his original black rose-adorned puffer cape got him real hot.

“I got a chance to spend time with Karl [Lagerfeld] when I was designing Sean John, just as a fellow designer. And he was so creative, and he had so much attention to detail,” he told Anthony about honoring this year’s theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” He also thanked June Ambrose, the renowned creative director and costume designer who helped him create some of the music mogul’s most iconic looks, for helping him with the first Sean John collection.

And for Caresha, at least one thing about the evening was official official: her Met Gala debut. “It feels like a dream come true,” said the City Girls MC. “I’m like, ‘OK, you got through it.’ It was good, it was perfect! It was everything.” Diddy then cut in to give his date for the evening her flowers. “You were perfect. She’s gorgeous, stunning, incredible,” he mused.

“Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” will showcase more than 150 original looks designed by Lagerfeld, who died at 85 years old in 2019, delving into the former Chanel creative director’s expansive seven-decade career. Many of his original sketches are also set to appear alongside the objects on display.
