Chris Brown will be at the center of a new documentary to be released later this month with a focus on some of the R&B singer’s legal troubles over the years. Via the Investigation Discovery channel, Chris Brown: A History of Violence was announced with a new accuser coming forward in a trailer for the documentary.
As reported by Variety, the ID channel is launching its third annual No Excuse for Abuse campaign with the release of the Chris Brown: A History of Violence documentary. ID also released the explosive Nickelodeon documentary, Quiet on Set.

The documentary will examine the legal issues attached to Brown, which naturally will zero in on the domestic violence incident between him and his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Brown has also faced allegations of sexual assault, assault, and other charges.
More from Variety:
According to the logline, “Chris Brown: A History of Violence” will chart “Chris Brown’s past all the way back to his troubled childhood, explores the lasting impact of the cycle of abuse, and poses the question: how does a man with such a violent public record maintain his superstar status? With expert and cultural commentary layered throughout, the documentary provides thoughtful reflections into each survivor’s experience and the psychological destruction in the aftermath of their abuse.”
As revealed in the trailer, a new accuser, whose identity is hidden, comes forward with allegations against Brown. “I have not spoken about this matter publicly, but that’s the only way he can be stopped,” the accuser says in the trailer.
Chris Brown: A History of Violence will be released on October 27 with The View co-host Sunny Hostin taking the lead in a conversation regarding intimate partner violence following the documentary.

One of the culture’s most vocal domestic abuse victims is speaking out again. Dee Barnes says the video of Diddy assaulting Cassie is triggering.

As reported by News One the former music television personality has also shared her disappointment in the Bad Boy Entertainment mogul. On Friday, May 17 she took to social media and not only voiced her displeasure on in the video that shows Diddy beating his former love interest but also shared that it brought back flashbacks to the violent attack she suffered at the hands of Dr. Dre.

“Seeing that video is extremely triggering. #DrDre punched, slammed, kicked and stomped me out. #Concussion” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. She would go on to also say “I’m disgusted and disappointed with Sean Combs. I stand with #Cassie, #KimPorter and all the other victims of his violent abuse.” in a separate post.

On January 27, 1991 Dee Barnes claims Dr. Dre approached her at a record release party in Hollywood, California. According to Rolling Stones Magazine she states that he “began slamming her head and the right side of her body repeatedly against a brick wall near the stairway” while his bodyguard was said to hold off a crowd with a gun. But the attack didn’t stop there as the N.W.A. founding member began kicking her after failing to throw her down the stairs. She was able to escape to a women’s bathroom but was unfortunately followed by the producer and then “grabbed her from behind by the hair again and proceeded to punch her in the back of the head”. He and his bodyguard shortly fled the scene shortly thereafter.
Dee Barnes claims that incident stemmed from an interview she conducted with Ice Cube on Pump It Up where the Don Mega made fun of D.O.C.’s voice after he almost lost his life in a car accident. She later on filed a lawsuit against Dr. Dre for $22.75 million dollars that was privately settled out of court.

In an interview on The Defiant Ones, Dr. Dre discussed the event in detail and expressed his remorse. “There is absolutely no excuse for it. No woman should ever be treated this way” he said. “Any man that puts his hands on a female is a f***ing idiot. He is out of his f***ing mind and I was out of my f***ing mind at the time. I f***ed up. I paid for it. I’m sorry for it and I apologized for it.”
Dee Barnes accepted Dr. Dre’s apology and saluted his taking accountability, but she did question its timing.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has a lot of explaining to do. In hotel surveillance footage obtained by CNN, a man who allegedly looks like Diddy is seen hitting, kicking and dragging who is reportedly Cassie Ventura in a hotel hallway.
Trigger Warning.
According to CNN, the footage is from 2016. What is seen in the video reportedly lines up with what Cassie recounted in her initial lawsuit against Diddy in late 2023, where she accused him of years of domestic violence and sexual assault. Diddy infamously quickly settled the case a day after the lawsuit was filed.
Reports CNN:
The footage, compiled from multiple camera angles dated March 5, 2016, appears to show the rapper, producer and business mogul during an incident that, according to Ventura’s complaint, occurred at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. CNN verified the location based on publicly available photos of the former hotel’s interior.
In the video, Ventura exits a hotel room and walks to a bank of elevators. Combs, holding a towel around his waist, runs down a hall after Ventura. He grabs her by the back of the neck and throws her to the floor. Still holding his towel closed with one hand, he then turns to kick her, the video shows.
As Ventura is on the ground, Combs retrieves a purse and suitcase from the floor near the elevators. He turns around and kicks Ventura again as she lies motionless on the floor. About four seconds transpire between the two kicks, according to the video. He then briefly drags Ventura by her sweatshirt toward a room before walking away.
But the altercation doesn’t stop there.
Ventura is then seen slowly standing up. She gathers items from the floor and moves to pick up a phone on the hallway wall near the elevators. Combs, still in a towel and socks, returns. A mirror directly across from the security camera shows Combs appearing to shove Ventura.
Seconds later, he sits down on a chair, grabs an object off a table and forcefully throws it toward Ventura. Combs is seen walking away, then turns toward Ventura once again when an elevator door opens and someone appears to exit.
The incident reportedly occurred at the since-shuttered InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. Cassie has reportedly declined to comment about the release of the footage.
The reaction on social media has been swift, and the consensus seems to be that Diddy is a monster. See for yourself in the gallery.

We know you care. The Jeezy and Jeannie Mai saga continues.
*Trigger warning: this story contains incidents of domestic violence.*
Just a week ago, word on the street was that Jeezy was no longer seeking primary care for his daughter Monaco; instead, he wanted to ensure that his ex, former host of The Real, Jeannie Mai, had equal parenting time.
Then, a bomb was dropped on Thursday, April 25, by Mai in the form of domestic abuse allegations, along with some photo evidence per TMZ’s reporting.
Per TMZ:

In her filing, Jeannie outlines a few different instances of alleged abuse — including claims that Jeezy is prone to explosive outbursts, excessive drinking, and domestic violence.

Jeannie cites one alleged incident from April 2022, when she says they were at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco, and claims Jeezy choked her from behind while she was going up some stairs, and alleges he even pushed her down those same stairs.

Jeezy Denies Jeannie Mai’s Claims, Provides Receipts
It didn’t take long, but Jeezy immediately shot down those claims and had receipts in the form of text messages and photos provided to the blog, The Jasmine Brand.
In one of her claims, Mai points to an incident involving a golf cart in April 2022. In the photos provided by the “Put On” crafter, he alleges the golf cart incident was nothing but a mere accident, no one was to blame, and they both suffered injuries, adding it took place in June 2022.

Instead of being civil, this situation continues to get ugly. Social media, of course, has thoughts on the matter.
“Jeezy a black man in America and thought he was getting joint custody of an Asian lady baby. They must’ve never sold common sense at his trap house,” one user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote.
Another X user wrote, “seeing straight black men pretend to care about being fetishized by women to help protect jeezy from abuse allegations is so funny. they’re so see-thru.”
We sincerely hope these two can be civil for the sake of their daughter.

Jill Scott might be a beloved vocalist but she is currently catching the wrath of X, formerly Twitter, after taking a moment to show love to Chris Brown. When challenged about Brown’s history of domestic violence, Jill Scott doubled down and seemingly defended her abusive stepfather because he happened to be an expert at laying concrete foundations.
On Sunday (April 21) in the wee hours, Jill Scott posted a tweet praising Chris Brown, who is currently having a war of words with Quavo of Migos fame.
From X:
@chrisbrown is amazing. How does ANYBODY sing like THAT? Dance, look, Act and Rap… like THAT? Beyond gifted. It appears, exceptional people have to go through exceptional [fire emoji]. There’s nothing to debate.
The Philadelphia songstress was challenged by an X user who wrote, “I think the women he’s abused would disagree,” to which Scott answered, “I doubt it. My Mother’s ex husband was a mean, violent human AND he could lay foundation better than anyone in my city. What he did with cement was awe inspiring. We got away. He got a raise and praise for his ability. God dealt with the rest.”
Scott’s words sparked a flurry of criticism from fans on X who pointed out that her praise of Brown and the attempt to humanize her stepfather was a slap in the face of victims of domestic violence.

Scott continued to try and explain that she wasn’t making an excuse for her stepfather nor was she attempting to shift blame. Her stance, from what we gathered, is to note that terrible people often do terrible things but they’re also capable of change.
“Look. Years of prayer, therapy, self reflection, & making every effort to keep my feet on the ground has made me compassionate for other human beings. People go through [poop emoji] and do terrible [poop emoji]. We say we believe in God ; pray for enlightenment. We ARE a living testimony,” Scott wrote hours after her initial comment.
On X, the reactions to Jill Scott bigging up Chris Brown and pushing back against the critique had her trending near the top of the list on the social media network. We’ve got reactions from all sides below.

Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi had his baby mama locked up after he told the cops she punched him in the face.
TMZ exclusively reports the Rae Sremmurd member and mother of his child, Kiara Danielson, got into some physical altercation, and Jxmmi was the victim, according to a police report obtained by the celebrity gossip site.

Per TMZ:

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, cops were called to the “Black Beatles” rapper’s Doral, FL home on January 22 for a domestic disturbance … and that’s when Slim told them Kiara Danielson hit him.

Officers say Slim told them the dispute started with an argument over social media, with Slim trying to get Kiara to leave his place … but things allegedly spiraled from there.

Slim told cops he threw Kiara’s belongings into the yard, and that’s when she got aggressive … punching him in the face 3 times.
Of course, Danielson is singing a different tune. The celebrity gossip site claims that she scratched his eye while struggling for her phone after she whipped it out to record him.
Law enforcement claims that Danielson was grabbed by Slim during the fight but determined she was the aggressor after seeing no visible wounds on her but on the “No Flex Zone” rapper and booked on misdemeanor battery.

A History of Domestic Violence
The kerfuffle between Jxmmi and his child’s mother went down just one day after the two argued at Danielson’s Miami apartment.
TMZ obtained footage of that incident where Slim Jxmmi can be seen leaving the apartment. Two years ago, the former couple got into a physical altercation that led to the arrest of Jxmmi after being hit with a battery charge.
Like this most recent incident, the fight was over social media.
Sounds like a toxic mess to us.

Authorities in the Dominican Republic have arrested U.S. rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, who is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday on charges of domestic violence. The criminal trial against Jonathan Majors for alleged assault began with intense opening statements from both legal teams.
On Monday (December 4), opening statements in the trial against actor Jonathan Majors were delivered at New York Criminal Court. Majors has been accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari after being arrested on March 25 after a domestic dispute with Jabbari. Majors was present in the courtroom with family members including his mother and his current partner, actress Meagan Good.

Prosecutor Michael Perez began by detailing the relationship between the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star and Jabbari, disclosing that they had met on the film set in 2021 and were together in “a serious relationship,” even discussing marriage. Perez then detailed the dispute that took place on March 25, which occurred after the couple attended a party in Brooklyn where a text from another woman sparked an argument where Majors allegedly injured Jabbari once they reached their Manhattan apartment.

The prosecution would go on to paint Jonathan Majors as an abuser with Perez stating: “He began to snap at, manipulate and strategically withhold affection from [Jabbari].” “This affected their entire relationship and how she reacted on March 25,” he said. In a recording of a fight that prosecutors plan to play for the jury, it’s alleged that Majors told Jabbari, who is white, that she should be more like Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama and “to conform to the plan and make sacrifices for him” saying it’s because “I am a great man, a great man.”
Majors’ lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, contended in her opening statement that the previous relationship had “nothing to do with what happened in the car.” Chaudhry told jurors it was Jabbari who attacked Majors physically first, telling police who arrived at the Manhattan residence the two shared that he assaulted her. In previous interrogations, Majors told the NYPD that he had called them since Jabbari was “suicidal” in her texts.
The defense would state that the allegations were born out of Jabbari’s revenge against Majors. Mr. Majors’ lifetime of hard work was coming to fruition and his career seemed unstoppable until […] he ended his relationship with Jabbari and she made these false allegations,” Chaudhry stated. Jabbari is expected to testify during the two weeks of the trial. Majors, who has pleaded not guilty, faces a year in jail if convicted.

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley got straight to the point and asked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver about the league’s stance on domestic violence.

On Tuesday (Oct. 24), Charles Barkley and the rest of the Inside The NBA crew were holding court before the first game of the season between the visiting Los Angeles Lakers and the recent champions, the Denver Nuggets. They were joined by the league’s commissioner, Adam Silver. After a few questions about other issues impacting the league, Barkley made his last question an impactful one.
[embedded content]

“I got a serious question – they’re telling me to go to commercial, but I don’t care,” Charles Barkley began. “There’s a couple of disturbing incidents of domestic violence in the NBA right now. What are we doing to address that? Because you can’t put your hands on women, man. And we should be at the forefront in sports. … So what are we as a league going to do about that?”
The NBA is currently dealing with two highly prominent cases of players alleged to have committed acts of domestic violence. Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested and charged with assaulting his girlfriend, Kyrse Gondrezick in New York last month. After pleading not guilty, Porter was traded by the Houston Rockets to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who released him. Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets is serving a 10-game suspension after pleading no contest to a felony domestic violence charge in June 2022.  Originally given a 30-game suspension by the NBA, 20 games were chopped off as Bridges did not play the entire 2022-2023 season.
Silver responded with a bit of cautious language at first. “Well again, we’re not trying to compete with other leagues when you say “forefront” as I feel that all the other leagues are trying to confront this issue.” He credited the players’ association for their efforts and attention to the issue before continuing with his response to Barkley’s question.
“We put in place a new program for how we deal with, first of all, accusations of domestic violence even before they’re prosecuted,” Silver said. “Part of it goes to training of our players, counseling of our players to make sure they understand during high-stress situations that, obviously, never resort to violence against anyone. So we’re addressing it. We have, you know, state-of-the-art counseling professionals dealing with our players, but of course, if a guy you know does cross the line, the consequences are enormous.”

According to prosecutors, there’s a new development in the domestic violence against embattled TV and movie star Jonathan Majors, who was arrested in Manhattan earlier this year after being accused of assault and aggravated harassment of his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.

In a 115-page filing obtained by Variety, prosecutors claim Majors was involved in another incident involving Jabbari, a U.K. citizen, that allegedly occurred in London in September of last year. It’s unclear what happened exactly, but prosecutors are reportedly attempting to get a copy of a London Metropolitan Police report that includes references to medical care that Jabbari received at the time. The legal officials say that whatever is in that file is relevant to their current domestic violence case against Majors, who was in London at the time of the alleged incident filming season two of the Disney+ Marvel series Loki.
From Variety:

This development comes a day before Majors has to return to court for his domestic violence case. Wednesday’s court appearance is expected to be one of the final pre-trial hearings before the judge rules on whether to proceed with or dismiss the case.
The lengthy filing from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office is in response to the actor’s motion to dismiss the case. It does not entirely lay out the D.A.’s case, though it is intended to provide enough detail to move the case toward trial.

The DA’s office is also claiming Majors’ lawyers leaked and misrepresented court evidence, and that they even tried to get the police to create a wanted poster with Jabbari’s photo. The filing also shows prosecutors are not launching a case against Jabbari, who Majors’ legal team claimed actually physically abused their client, not the other way around.
Furthermore, while it’s been reported that the March 25 incident began when Jabbari read a text on Majors’ phone that indicated he was cheating, so she took his phone, the filing gets a little more detailed in regards to what the DA says took place.
More from Variety:
She allegedly took the phone out of his hands to see who sent the message. Majors then “began grabbing the right side of Ms. Jabbari’s body and prying Ms. Jabbari’s right middle finger off the phone, causing bruising, swelling, and substantial pain.” The filing continues that Majors “then grabbed Ms. Jabbari’s arm and right hand and proceeded to twist Ms. Jabbari’s forearm, causing substantial pain to her finger and arm. The defendant then struck Ms. Jabbari’s right ear, causing a laceration to the back of her ear and substantial pain.”

After he retrieved his phone, Majors exited the vehicle and Jabbari attempted to follow the actor. That’s when “the defendant grabbed her, picked her up, and threw her back inside … [and] sustained substantial pain, including a fractured finger, bruising about her body, a laceration behind her right ear, and a bump on her head,” according to the filing.

Prosecutors also denied that there’s any video evidence clearing Majors and implicating Jabbari.
