Recently, it was reported that a court-ordered Dame Dashās share of Roc-A-Fella records to be auctioned off to satisfy his mounting debt. Now, Jay-Z is hitting potential bidders with a āBuyer Bewareā notice as his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, is the crown jewel of Dashās stake in the record label.
According to TMZ, Jay-Z is taking legal action regarding the auction of Dame Dashās 33.3% ownership of Roc-A-Fella Records, which will begin with a starting bid of $1.2 million. While we assumed Jay-Z would just participate in the auction and put up whatever amount of money is needed to get back the majority of his old record label, it seems like heās going a different route and letting potential buyers know that Reasonable Doubt will be his in just a few years regardless of who ends up with Dame Dashās share of the label.
Per TMZ:
While Roc-A-Fella currently holds the copyright on the record and all its tracks ā¦ Jayās attorneys have now filed notice that those rights will revert to one Shawn Carter/āJay-Zā in 2031.
Even though Jay and Dame aināt exactly vibing these days, this legal move isnāt about revenge, itās just biz ā the rights would have gone back to Jay 35 years after the record was released, anyway. His lawyers have just filed the paperwork to make it official.
So, what does this mean for the August 29 auction? Whoever ends up winning Dameās shares ā minimum bid is $1.2 million ā will enjoy one-third of all āReasonable Doubtā revenues ā¦ but only for about the next 6 years and change. Then itās all Jayās.
Well, that certainly wonāt sit well with anyone bidding on Roc-A-Fellaās illustrious catalog.
How will this affect the auction remains to be seen but putting down more than $1.2 million on something thatās going to have its biggest asset removed in six years doesnāt seem like a sound investment. Just saying.

Just a week ago it was reported that Dame Dash was about to sell his stake in Jay-Zās classic debut album, Reasonable Doubt. But now, it seems like Dash will be forced to sell much more than he originally intended.
According to TMZ, a court has just ruled that Dame Dash will have to sell his entire share of Roc-A-Fella Records as his money woes continue to pile up. According to the report, Dash will have his 33.3% in the iconic record label auctioned off by a U.S. Marshall on Aug. 29. For serious bidders who plan on getting in on the action, theyāll have to send an email to attorney Christopher Brown in order to register for the upcoming event.
Naturally, the biggest gem here is Dashās share of Reasonable Doubt. With rumors having swirled that Jay-Z had been trying to get that back from Dame for a while now, we wouldnāt be surprised if a representative for Hova ends up with the winning bid for Dameās share of Roc-A-Fella Records.
TMZ reports:
Brown, as you may know, represents film director Josh Webber, who secured an $800K-plus civil judgment against Dash for copyright infringement and defamation two years ago.
Webber and Muddy Water Pictures produced āDear Frankā and filed suit against Dash after claiming he went around and told people he owned the rights to the movie even after he was dropped from the project.
The court docs specify the purpose of the auction is to collect on the judgment. The docs also note Jay Zās album āReasonable Doubtā is the biggest asset Roc-A-Fella owns.
It will be quite the pricey entrance fee for anyone interested in the auction as the starting bid will be $1.2 million, with the winning bid having to put down 20% of the final tally as soon as the auction ends. We all know thatās pocket change to someone like Jay. Just sayinā.

It seems Dame Dash is very serious about letting his share ofĀ Reasonable Doubt go. He announced it is for sale.
As reported byĀ HotNewHip-Hop, the Harlem, New York, native recently took to social media to let the world know that his piece of Jay-Zās debut is available for a price. On Friday, July 19, he posted the album artwork with a rather undiplomatic caption stating he is taking offers. āThis sh*t is for sale 1/3 ā¦ only real inquiries only,ā he wrote. The second photograph on the Instagram post is a visual of Jay-Z, Damon Dash and Kareem āBiggsā Burke from the projectās original CD booklet.
Naturally, the post quickly went viral and received over 10,000 comments within 24 hours. Lupe Fiasco left a comment, which has since been deleted, urging Drake to buy it. ā@champagnepapi will keep it safe for generations to come. This is grail and influenced an innumerable amount of rappers to see it peddle such a lack of grace genuinely hurts my feelings a little bit.ā Lupe went on to recommend that Dash hold on to his share saying, āOr just keep the s**t OG you should be infinitely proud of this. Without it there is no me as I am and Iām sure other MCs will agree.ā
This is not the first time the former Cakeaholic has tried to sell his 33% ownership in the 1996 effort. During an appearance on the Veuit podcast, Dash revealed that Jay-Z offered him $1.5 million dollars for his stake but he told his former partner no. Earlier this year, Camāron and Mase alluded to buying Dameās share, but the transaction was never confirmed.
Last month, he reached out to Kendrick Lamar via IG after he unearthed an old social post from K Dot from 2010. āIām sorry, Reasonable Doubt is better than Illmaticā¦. #youcanunfollowmenowā it read to which Dame posted, ā@kendricklamar my 3rd is for sale if you want to buy it.ā Kendrick never publicly responded to Dame Dashās offer.

Dame Dash will have to seek new legal representation. His lawyers have served him resignation papers due to unpaid fees.
HotNewHipHop is reporting that the Harlem, New York, nativeās debts continue to increase. Last week, Felton T. Newell and Justin H. Sanders, Esqs., of Sanders Roberts LLP formally abandoned their positions as the lawyers on record for the media mogul. The reasons they cited included ābreach of contractual obligations to the firmā and claimed Dame Dash āfailed to fulfill their financial obligations under their retainer agreement, resulting in the firm initiating an enforcement action against them.ā
The firm was representing Dame Dash in his court battle against Monique Bunn. Back in 2023, the photographer claimed he sexually assaulted her but he was eventually cleared of any wrong doing.Ā According to documents obtained by HipHopDX, she has since requested that the case be reopened citing the jury did not understand the gravity of the damages she suffered. Bunn also states that she was not compensated for her work and that Dame Dash.
āThe evidence at trial ā which was uncontroverted ā established that each photo was worth $1,500, which should have resulted in a verdict for at least $384,750,000,ā the 285-page document read. āIt is well known that professional photographers earn much of their income through licensing their portfolio of photographs, and Defendantsā actions destroyed Ms. Bunnās economic prospects. The jury ignored the valuation evidence and awarded zero to Ms. Bunn.ā
Dame Dash has yet to formally respond to the matter. You can read through the lawyerās notice of resignation below.

Camāron and Dame Dash have had a tight relationship for decades, which many felt mightāve played a part in the downfall of Roc-A-Fella Records. So when OG Hip-Hop exec Steve Stoute put the blame of the Rocās breakup squarely on the shoulders of Dame, Cam and Mase came to the defense of Jay-Zās former business partner.
In a recent interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Steve Stoute suggested that Jay-Z outgrew Dame Dashās ācrazyā antics while they were working together at Roc-A-Fella and wanted to pursue bigger and better things. Taking issue with Stouteās perspective on the matter, Camāron and Mase stood up for Dame on their show, It Is What It Is. Cam and Mase talked about how Dame put a lot of people in a position to win in life and even inspired Cam to take his career more seriously than he was at the time.
After Mase reminded everyone that Dame gave a lot of Harlemites jobs in the music industry, Cam chimed in. āOh, absolutely. Itās a bunch of people outside of me that are still in prominent positions now,ā Cam said.
āDame gets perceived the wrong way because of his attitude. Heās very arrogant but heās very smart. But the thing about it is, Dame is going to do what works for Dame and at this point you got to accept him,ā Cam said. āEither love him or hate him for who he is ācause heās not changing, and heās been successful at helping build $100 million companies ā not just one, but multiple,ā the āOh Boyā rapper continued.
āAnd some people are never going to see $100 million in they life, so I think heās capable of doing anything in the world. But sometimes to me, to Cam, the way he presents himself to other people is a turn off. Heās an acquired taste, pause.ā

Dame for his part didnāt take kindly to Steve Stouteās take on the Rocās downfall. He took to IG to express his feelings on the matter by posting a clip of Stouteās interview with a caption that read, āThis is the reason I had to smack the shit out of @stevestoute a couple years agoā¦because heās always speaking on other menās business good thing Iāve evolved #staytunedā
Steve Stoute got slapped up by Dame Dash and Diddy (allegedly) on separate occasions?! That man gotta stop messing around with dudes who got the letter āDā in their names or something.
What do yāall think of the situation? Was Dame to blame for Roc-A-Fella breaking up? Should Stoute be throwing his 2 cents in on the matter? Let us know in the comments section below.

One specifically was his opinion on Young Thugās current legal issues.
āFor me, if I see a kid thatās making music about sh*t thatās gonna get him killed because heās really doing it, I donāt think Iām putting they records out. Iām not going [to] enable that childā Dash said. āWhen I look at Young Thug, Iām like, Lyor and them just made a big check and heās going to jail. They made money off his music.ā Dash went on to further detail why he thinks Cohen is doing bad business. āSo if they made money off that music and heās in jail for that, then all that money they made off the music should not go to them. How do they get to get all that money and he has to get a jail cell?ā
While Dame Dash continues to champion for the artist, it seems heās still dealing with some finance issues. Hip Hop DX is also reporting his legal team has filed documentation to formally sever ties with their client over unpaid services. Dame Dash might have just cracked the code on Kanye Westās unique fashion sense, He says Yeezy is on a troll assignment.
HipHopDX is reporting that the serial entrepreneur was the latest guest on Willie Dās podcast. The Harlem, New York native discussed a variety of topics ranging from Lyor Cohen to his newest business ventures. When asked about his former recording artist he reasoned that Kanyeās behavior in recent years should not be a surprise to anyone who is familiar with the MCās history.
āHeās a person that pulls triggers,ā Dame Dash explained. āLook at his career. [He said] āGeorge Bush doesnāt like Black people,ā ran up on Taylor Swift. Itās one publicity stunt after another. Thatās his model is triggering you. Just like Trump ā every time Trump says something racist and we hate it, somebody loves it. Heās not talking for us. Heās talking for the ones that love it, Trump. So itās the same thing.ā
Dame went on further urge every one not to blink when it comes to Kanyeās at times bizarre modus operandi. āThatās why I donāt pay him no mind. Heās a troll. He got everybody dressing like a crackhead, bro. Heās doing this sh*t on purposeā he said. āI know what youāre doing, youāre trolling. He walk around barefoot, heās trolling. āWatch this I can get dudes to wear tights and barefoot!ā Iām not saying we had that convo. When I see it Iām like, āYo, he bugging,ā but I know heās playing. You know? He wants you to get at him. Why would he do the things he does if he doesnāt want the reaction?ā

Dame Dash is looking for some leniency regarding his child support payments to Rachel Roy. He says he is struggling and can no longer afford to pay her the current amount.
TMZ is reporting that the Harlem, New York native is no longer claiming to be a Cake-A-Holic. This week he filed a formal request asking that his monthly agreement with former wife Rachel Roy be significantly lowered. The business mogul states that he has yet to recover from the pandemic and has been struggling from mid 2020. Dame Dash alleges many of his businesses have yet to take off causing him to only earn an alarmingly low $5,140 dollars for all of 2023. His previous child support agreement required him to pay her $5,000 dollars a month.
Rachel is not buying the his poor manās story and says he is hiding his income. She says he still receives revenue from his piece of Roc-A-Fella Records which includes some of Kanye Westās and Jay-Zās best work. Additionally, she says he has other ventures that generate him money which include a streaming service, a spirits company, a clothing brand and more.
During a segment from The CEO SHOW back in October he openly discussed his entrepreneurial struggles. āIāve had to start [a] new company from scratch, without any money to start it with,ā he said. āI had to do it [by] rubbing two sticks together. So I canāt pay out three or four hundred thousand a year in child support, ācause I aināt making that. But Iām not ashamed of that because I have things to show for it, but it hasnāt profited yet. Iām like a proud broke, but it aināt broke, because I have things to show for it.ā
A judge has yet to rule on Dame Dashās request for a lower child support payment agreement.

Dame Dash is still talking Roc-A-Fella and not everyone agrees with his history of things. Young Guru has refuted his claims that Jay-Z stole songs from his artists.
XXL Magazine is reporting that the acclaimed engineer has spoken out against his at one time label CEO. Recently Dame Dash was a guest on Ray Danielsā The Gauds Show podcast. While the former Cake-A-Holic discussed a variety of topics relating to his career and current ventures, the subject of Jay-Z being an alleged opportunist. āJay has a record of getting on a record after it gets hot and now he can perform that record and now it sounds like he made that record. But it already was hot. That was a model he didā Dame said.
Dash would also go on to say that Jay-Z stole some of his biggest songs. āJa Ruleās record āCan I Get Aā¦,ā that was Ja Ruleās record. āIām a hustler, baby!ā [āI Just Wanna Love Uā], that was [Omillio] Sparksā recordā he added. āThatās the only reason why Sparks is on there, ācause it was his record. So he does this thing where he says itās your record, Iāll jump on and now itās my record. Itās almost extortion.ā
The clip soon went viral and Young Guru corrected Dame Dash on Twitter. āCAP on this narrative that jay STEALS songsā he wrote. Guru would explain how both records came to be saying āI Just Wanna Love Uā was given to HOV directly by Pharrell Williams and that Irv Gotti gave Jay-Z āCan I Get Aā¦ā.

During the newest episode of The CEO Show he and acclaimed Hip-Hop journalist Datwon Thomas talked the fall of Roc-A-Fella Records in relation to him and Hov. āWhen I look at what happened between me and Jay itās like I blame Jay for letting it happen but all the people that really made it happen are the ones that areā¦benefiting from him the most now,ā he explained. āI was stopping them from getting money. My friendship comes before the business. Either way unless he [Jay-Z] was down with it then it wouldnāt [have] happened.ā
The former cake-a-holic went on to make it clear that he is willing to have a sit down with Jay-Z to discuss what went wrong. āWhere Iām at now is that if Roc-A-Fella and the ones that werenāt billionaires want to get money on the right terms Iām down,ā he said. āIām telling you publicly I will [have the conversation]. And Iāve never not said that. But Jayās never had that accountability to have that real conversation with me.ā Dame Dash went on to add āI always said as a man that we could always talk it up. Men should always be able to talk things up, but Iām really happy with my life right now.ā
While he is hopeful that the two can move on from the past donāt expect him to be doing his signature dance at any Jay-Z concert. āI know the world would love to see it and Iām down for it.
