The Wendy Williams saga continues. Her representatives claim she was only paid $82,000 for the controversial documentary on her life.
As spotted on Huffington Post the media mogul’s caretakers are taking action against the production company who developed the Lifetime series Where Is Wendy Williams?. Released earlier this year the four part project gave her fans a behind the scenes look into the rollercoaster life of the former talk show host. The footage showed that the Ocean Township, New Jersey native was dealing with mental health issues, alcohol abuse as well as being placed under guardianship. Ultimately a large portion of her fanbase felt that the documentary showed her in a poor light.
Earlier this week Wendy Williams’ legal team filed a suit against the state the procedures alleging they “viciously and shamelessly exploited” her and depicted her “in a highly demeaning and embarrassing manner. According to court documents she was only paid $82,000 for her participation and her rights. “This is a paltry sum for the use of highly invasive, humiliating footage that portrayed her in the confusing throes of dementia, while Defendants, who have profited on the streaming of the Program have likely already earned millions,” the filing reads. “As our complaint shows in painful and excruciating detail, A&E, Lifetime and Mark Ford viciously and shamelessly exploited Wendy Williams for their own profit while she was obviously incapacitated and suffering from dementia,” said Kaplan Martin LLP and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP in an exclusive statement.
In turn her team is looking for the production company to forfeit all earnings on the project to cover her medical expenses. The defendants have yet to formally respond.

Not that we needed confirmation that Tyre Nichols, the victim of arguably one of the most vicious police brutality attacks ever recorded, wasn’t a threat to the five Memphis police officers who allegedly beat him to death during a January 2023 stop, but one of the officers testified Monday that Nochols’ killing didn’t need to happen because, in fact, he “wasn’t a threat.”
According to the Associated Press, ex-officer Emmitt Martin III — who pleaded guilty last month to using excessive force and failing to intervene in the unlawful assault, as well as conspiracy to cover up his use of unlawful force — took the stand in the federal trial of his former co-workers, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley and Justin Smith, all of whom have pleaded not guilty to charges accusing them of depriving Nichols of his civil rights through excessive force and failure to intervene, and obstructed justice through witness tampering. The fifth former officer, Desmond Mills Jr., also took a plea deal in exchange for testimony against Bean, Haley and Smith.
From AP:
For the first time in the trial, jurors heard from one of the officers who beat Nichols. Martin said he and his former colleagues — members of the Scorpion Unit, a Memphis police team that looked for drugs, illegal guns and violent criminals — would justify the force they used against a person by exaggerating the person’s actions against them. The unit was disbanded shortly after Nichols’ death.
Martin said he saw Nichols speed up to beat a red light and then change lanes without signaling, leading Martin to follow Nichols with his police car lights on. Haley eventually stopped Nichols’ Nissan, pulled out his gun and snatched Nichols from his vehicle without telling Nichols why he was stopped.
Martin also had his gun out, and joined Haley in trying to restrain Nichols while yelling various conflicting commands, such as telling Nichols to give the officers his hands, turn on his stomach and put his hands behind his back.
Meanwhile, Nichols was passively resisting the officers in a non-aggressive manner — by pulling his hands away from the officers, who were trying to handcuff him without telling him why, Martin said.
Cops always seem to be surprised and offended when a citizen, especially a Black citizen, wants to know why they’re being arrested before they just surrender willingly. It’s almost as if a police officer’s ego just can’t take their authority being challenged even when the challenge is reasonable. Nichols wanted to know why he was being taken in during a routine traffic stop, and he was killed for it.
“He wasn’t a threat,” Martin testified. “He was helpless.”
According to the New York Times, Martin also admitted that he punched and kicked the 29-year-old during the altercation, and he lied about it, confident that his fellow officers would back him up.
“I knew they weren’t going to tell on me,” Martin said. “And I wasn’t going to tell on them.”
A lot of “back the blue” advocates might be surprised to learn how often the “blue wall of silence” is all that separates police officers from common criminals. Of course, the streets has its own no-snitch policy, but no one on those streets committing violent crimes has the backing of a police union and a “justice” system that they can almost always count on to give them the benefit of the doubt.
“These are criminal defendants, they just happen to be police officers,” Kami N. Chavis, a law professor at the College of William & Mary and director of the school’s criminal justice program, told the Times. “The fact that they are testifying against their fellow officers says nothing about the code of silence. It says the code of silence is so strong it took a criminal proceeding in order for these officers to finally tell the truth.”
Martin acknowledged to prosecutors that he was testifying in hopes of receiving a more lenient prison sentence, but he also claimed he was turning on his fellow officers “just get this off of me.”
“I can’t sit here and live with a lie — the truth needs to come out,” he said. “It was eating me up inside to live with a lie.”
But if this case had just been a drop in a sea of police brutality cases that get swept under the rug regularly, would he still have been so guilt-ridden? Would he have offered up this mea culpa if he wasn’t facing any prison time at all?
All five ex-officers have been charged with second-degree murder in state court, and all of them pleaded not guilty, including Martin. AP noted that Martin and Mills are expected to change their pleas. A court date for their state trial has not yet been scheduled.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ interview with the National Association of Black Journalists highlighted key points of her proposed presidential policy.
On Tuesday (Sept. 17), Vice President Kamala Harris sat down with a panel of members from the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Democratic presidential nominee answered questions from Gerren Keith Gaynor of theGrio, Politico contributor Eugene Daniels, and NPR Fresh Air co-host Tonya Mosley at public radio station WHHY’s headquarters. The interview was held in front of a live audience, similar to the appearance by former President Donald Trump last month at the NABJ convention in Chicago, Illinois.
Harris got the opportunity to again address Trump’s repeating of false claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, eating dogs and cats, which he did at their presidential debate in that city last week. “It’s a crying shame, what’s happening to those families, those children in that community,” she said, adding: “I know that people are deeply troubled by what is happening to that community in Springfield, Ohio, and it’s got to stop. And we’ve got to say that you cannot be entrusted with standing behind the seal of the president of the United States of America, engaging in that hateful rhetoric that, as usual, is designed to divide us as a country.”
Harris was also asked about her support for reparations for Black Americans, asking if she would take executive action to create a commission on the subject or leave the process to Congress. “I’m not discounting the importance of any executive action,” she said. “But ultimately Congress, because if you’re going to talk about it in any substantial way, there will be hearings, there will be a level of public education and dialogue.” Harris previously backed the Senate version of H.R. 40, a bill introduced by the late Representative John Conyers of Michigan to establish that federal commission.
The vice president also tackled questions on gun control and abortion and shared her thoughts about questions from some Black men about her trying to get their vote. “I think it’s very important to not operate from the assumption that Black men are in anybody’s pocket,” she said. “Black men are like any other voting group. You gotta earn their vote. So I’m working to earn the vote, not assuming I’m going to have it because I am Black.”

Gamers tend to agree that Netflix’s Castlevania animated series is arguably the best video game adapted feature since 1995’s Mortal Kombat. So it shouldn’t be surprising that Netflix continue to keep the franchise going as fans can’t seem to get enough of the animated undead.
This past Monday (Sep. 16) Netflix released their first teaser trailer for the second season of Castlevania: Nocturne which promises more bloody vampire violence and according to Deadline, will pick up 300 years after the events of the original series.
Per Deadline:
Season 1 took place in France in 1792 — the height of the French Revolution. Here’s the synopsis: In a remote part of western France, the counter-revolutionary aristocracy has forged an alliance with a terrifying Vampire Messiah, who promises to ‘eat the sun’ and unleash an army of vampires and nightcreatures to crush the revolution and enslave humanity. Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance.
In Season 2 , now joined by the legendary Alucard, Richter Belmont and his band of vampire hunters are in a desperate race against time. Erzsebet Báthory, the Vampire Messiah, who already seems invincible, seeks the full power of the goddess Sekhmet so she can plunge the world into endless darkness and terror.
Too bad there’s no way Castlevania could ever crossover with Blade or Vampire Hunter D or something. Just sayin.’
Castlevania: Nocturne season 2 is set to premier on Netflix this coming January of 2025. Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the comments section below.

Clearly Donald Trump isn’t tapped into Reggaeton culture. During a rally he referred to Nicky Jam as a “hot” woman.
As spotted on Raw Story, the presidential nominee is trying his best to gather support from the Latino community. On Friday, Sept. 13, he hosted a campaign rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the World Market Center. The politician announced that the “Baby” singer would be endorsing him but made it clear he had no idea who he was. “Do you know Nicky?” he asked rhetorically. “She’s hot,” he added asking “Where’s Nicky?” as he looked for the star to join him at the podium. Upon walking up Donald Trump realized he is not a she and said, “Oh, look, I’m glad he came up.”
The moment was super awkward, but Nicky Jam still tried to make the best out of the situation. “It’s an honor to meet you, Mr. President. People that come from where I come from, they don’t meet the president. So I’m lucky,” he said. “We need you. We need you back, right? We need you to be the president.” As expected the clip soon went viral, and Nicky Jam was faced with incessant ridicule online. “Trump thought you were a girl! He didn’t even take the time to look you up, and you’re here kissing his toes,” one user wrote.
He tried to make fun of the moment with an Instagram post where he referred to himself as a “hot” woman and several laughing emojis in the caption. It seems the joke was no longer funny to him as Nicky has since deleted this post and his endorsement of Donald Trump for president. You can view the rally footage below.

Sean Combs, otherwise known as Diddy, was arrested earlier this week and formally charged in New York with sex trafficking, racketeering, and other charges. Diddy is currently serving out his pre-trial detention at a notorious Brooklyn detention center known for the poor state of its facility, violence, and being understaffed among other issues.
Diddy, who was denied bail and will remain housed until his sentencing, is being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. As seen in The Daily Beast, the conditions of the Metropolitan Detention Center, largely known as the MDC, have been fodder for discussion in particular since the closing of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan. As the outlet noted, the MCC is where Jeffrey Epstein died under what some say were mysterious circumstances.
Combs’ legal team, Marc Agnifilo, and Teny R. Geragos, noted the poor state of the MDC in the filing of a motion for bail on Tuesday (September 17), it was mentioned that housing their client in a place that is “not fit for pre-trial detention” should be out of the question.
Throughout the Daily Beast, several instances are mentioned regarding the MDC’s deterioration, and the critiques levied upon the facility by judges and other officials date back several years. In January 2019, the MDC lost power, leaving the inmates inside suffering from the cold conditions without relief. As a result, a class action lawsuit was brought against the MDC and was settled for $10 million.
The MDC has previously housed other high-profile figures such as R. Kelly, Martin Shkreli, and Sam Bankman-Fried among others.
Agnifilo said on Tuesday after the hearing where charges were read that his team plans to appeal the $50 million bail decision.

Pras Michel sought a retrial in connection to his conspiracy case after noting that his former legal team used AI to offer a closing statement in the matter ahead of his 2023 conviction. A federal judge has since ruled that Pras Michel will not receive a retrial, despite findings that suggested errors were made.
As reported by The Haitian Times, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly decided on August 30 that Pras Michel’s request for a retrial would not move forward. In 2023, Michel was convicted on several charges and sought to have a new trial due to his former attorney, David Kenner, employing AI to write a closing statement but later discovering the mistakes the program made. One of those mistakes includes an incorrect attribution of Michel’s lyrics given to Sean “Diddy” Combs.
In the motion filed by Michel’s attorneys, the rapper’s legal team uncovered 14 errors that were made during Michel’s time and court thus the filing of the motion for retrial. The legal team additionally argued that the jury overseeing the matter was influenced by statements made by two federal judges that named Michel as a co-conspirator in the crimes he was charged with.
The judge in the case did note the errors raised by Michel’s team and three of them were considered according to accounts. However, the judge decided that the issues raised were not enough to overturn the jury’s initial ruling.
Pras Michel faces a potential sentence that could land him 20 years in prison. He is currently free on bond. A date for his sentencing has not been announced.

Republican Senator and vice presidential nominee JD Vance added to a racist smear on Vice President Kamala Harris‘ heritage in an interview.
On Sunday (September 15), Republican Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance was being interviewed by Kristin Welker of NBC’s Meet The Press when he doubled down on a racist smear of Vice President Kamala Harris. Welker asked Vance about the initial comment made by far-right figure Laura Loomer in a post on X, formerly Twitter last week where she said if Harris was elected, the White House “will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center.” Vance took on a dismissive tone and said he had just seen them that morning: “I knew that you’d ask me about it.”
He continued: “I make a mean chicken curry, I don’t think that it’s insulting for anybody to talk about their dietary preferences or what they want to do in the White House. Do I agree with what Laura Loomer said about Kamala Harris? No, I don’t. I also don’t think that this is actually an issue of national import. Is Laura Loomer running for president? No. Kamala Harris is running for president, and whether you’re eating curry at your dinner table or fried chicken, things have gotten more expensive thanks to her policies.”
“Senator, were you and your wife offended, and do you disavow those comments that even some Trump allies say are blatantly racist?” Welker followed up, referring to Usha Vance, who is Indian-American. “Kristen, I just told you, I don’t like those comments,” Vance replied. “I also don’t look at the internet for every single thing to get offended by.” Online commenters such as former FBI attorney Asha Rangappa were aghast, writing: “Curry or…fried chicken? Good lord, he’s like the KKK whisperer.” Others noted his avoidance of explicitly defending his wife.
As for Loomer, she posted support for Vance’s comments. “Donald Trump and JD Vance are giving those people a voice to tell the TRUTH about how they are being replaced by Kamala Harris’s invaders,” she wrote in another post on X, formerly Twitter, adding: “PS: I hope I can try the Senator’s chicken curry one of these days.” Loomer has been a fixture by former Donald Trump’s side within the past two weeks, with speculation that the two are intimately involved.
