Pedro Pascal is the star of two of TV’s biggest hits at the moment. But The Mandalorian and The Last of Us star will be a first-time Saturday Night Live host tomorrow (Feb. 4), and judging by this week’s promo things are not going great so far.

“Little Pedro Pascal from Santiago, Chile hosting Saturday Night Live,” the actor says to himself proudly as he wanders around the silent stage of fame studio 8H in the minute-long clip. “Wild,” he muses as he hears a strange sound from somewhere off stage and sees the shadow of someone running in the distance.

Curious, Pascal goes in search of the disruption because by now he’s an expert at busting out his flashlight and looking for potentially lethal things that go click in the night thanks to his role as Last of Us apocalypse survivor Joel; the hit HBO drama is based on the video game of the same name is set in 2023, 20 years after a mass fungal infection wiped out most of the planet’s population and clicking zombies are in search of the remaining humans.

When Pascal’s light beam catches one of the show’s signature clickers — wearing a trench coat for some reason — lurking in the dark, the actor grabs a hammer and prepares to brain the undead mutant before cast members Sarah Sherman and Molly Kearney jump in to stop the carnage.

“What are you doing you psycho?,” Sherman shrieks as the lights flick on. “What do you mean? That’s…” says a surprised Pascal. “… our brand new cast member?” Sherman explains to the embarrassed host. “Not cool, Mr. Pascal,” Kearney scolds him. “Listen, I know it’s your first time hosting, but a little advice: don’t hit the cast members with a hammer you maniac!” Sherman offers.

As Sherman walks off arm-in-arm with “Matt,” Kearney warns Pascal that he is not making “the best first impression” and says they have their eye on him. “This place is nuts… I like it,” Pascal smiles. Though it is the actor’s first go-round on the show, musical guest, Coldplay will be taking the SNL stage for the seventh time.

Check out Pascal’s SNL promo below.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are getting back into the David Fincher business. The Oscar-winning musical duo will team up with their frequent collaborator for his upcoming movie, The Killer, which is due out on Netflix on November 10.

The news was announced on the Nine Inch Nails site in a post revealing the details for their deluxe 3LP release of their score for Fincher’s 2002 biographical drama about the career of Citizen Kane screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz. “Starting with the Academy Award-winning score for The Social Network in 2010, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have been collaborating with David Fincher as film composers for over a decade,” read the post.

“Their critically acclaimed score for Mank is now available in a deluxe vinyl package,” it continued. “Reznor and Ross have also done the score for Fincher’s next project, The Killer.” The duo — who won a second Oscar in 2021 for the score to animated film Soul (shared with Jon Batiste) — have also written the scores for Fincher’s Gone Girl and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

NIN bandmates Reznor and Ross have had a fruitful side hustle in movie scoring, not only working repeatedly with Fincher, but also lending their musical chops to the 2016 Boston marathon bombing drama Patriots Day, Jonah Hill’s 2018 directorial debut, the coming-of-age comedy Mid90s, the 2019 drama Waves, the 2019 graphic novel TV adaptation Watchmen and director Sam Mendes’ 2022 drama Empire of Light; the pair also co-produced Halsey’s 2021 album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.

NBC revealed on Thursday (Feb. 2) that its popular variety game show That’s My Jam will be returning for season two on March 7.
The show, hosted and executive produced by Jimmy Fallon, features challenges inspired by popular Tonight Show segments. In each episode, two teams of two celebrities compete for a charity of their choice in a series of music, dance and trivia-based games and musical performances.

Season 2 will feature celebrity guests including Chloe x Halle, Kelsea Ballerini, Quinta Brunson, Chance The Rapper, Darren Criss, Jason DeRulo, Nikki Glaser, Taraji P. Henson, Sarah Hyland, Kesha, Patti LaBelle, Adam Lambert, Julia Michaels, French Montana, Keke Palmer, Billy Porter, Nicole Scherzinger, JoJo Siwa, John Stamos, Kenan Thompson, Quavo, Will.i.am, Saweetie and many more.

It’s Groundhog Day! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Thursday (Feb. 2), which means there are six more weeks of winter left. And if you’re not exactly thrilled about that, watching Groundhog Day might just boost your mood.

Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell and Richard Henzel star in the ’90s comedy about a man trapped in a personal time warp where every day is Groundhog Day. Murray plays Phil, a grumpy weatherman sent to Punxsutawney, Penn., to report on the town’s annual Groundhog Day event.

The film delivers a nice mixture of bleak and hilarious moments that encapsulate that sinking feeling of another month and a half of winter. But there’s a not-so-hidden life lesson within the comedic plot, because Phil eventually learns how to approach life “like there’s no tomorrow.”

Groundhog Day will be airing on AMC all day today and on Saturday morning. (See the schedule here.) If you don’t have cable, stream Groundhog Day with a free trial to AMC+ or at AMC.com. You can also subscribe to a streamer that offers AMC and other cable channels such as Hulu + Live TV, Direct TV and Sling TV.

If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you have the option of streaming Groundhog Day on Prime Video for free through AMC+.

‘Groundhog Day’
$free with 7-day trial to AMC+

For those who don’t want to watch through AMC+, Groundhog Day is streaming as a video-on-demand rental ($3.99). You can rent or buy a digital copy of the film on Prime Video and other streamers like iTunes, Google Play and Vudu. Groundhog Day is also available on Blu-ray and DVD.

Not familiar with Groundhog Day? The annual tradition was brought to the U.S. by German settlers. The first Groundhog Day event was held in Punxsutawney on Feb. 2, 1887.

As for the movie, Danny Rubin initially wrote Groundhog Day to land a meeting with producers in hopes of getting other potential work. Director Harold Ramis worked with Rubin on retooling the script, but Murray wasn’t the first choice to play Phil. Michael Keaton, Tom Hanks and Chevy Chase all turned down the role before Murray signed on.

Groundhog Day grossed $105 million at the box office and went on to become one of the highest grossing films of 1993.

Since their inception in 1958, the Grammy Awards have made plenty of history — from first-ever wins for new artists to record-breaking nomination numbers, the annual event has earned its title as Music’s Biggest Night.

In the modern era for the annual ceremony, the Grammys have finally started to make history for queer acts as well as representation for LGBTQ artists and performers at the show has steadily risen. From Culture Club winning best new artist in 1984 (making Boy George the first openly gay man to win the award) to Sir Elton John becoming the first LGBTQ person to win the prestigious Grammy Legend Award, to the Grammys becoming the first of the major award shows to remove gendered categories, the annual affair has proven to be a huge night for queer artists around the globe.

This Sunday (Feb. 5), that representation for queer folks will stay on full display — out folk star Brandi Carlile is nominated for seven awards at the ceremony (including album and record of the year), while other stars like Steve Lacy, Omar Apollo and Anitta round out noms in the remainder of the Big Four categories.

But along with awarding LGBTQ artists with statues, the Grammys have also historically provided a stage for queer performers to give that love right back to their community. Sunday will feature at least four queer performers (Carlile, Lacy, Sam Smith and Kim Petras), further adding to a grand tradition of stars standing up for LGBTQ people through their performances.

Below, Billboard takes a look back at some of our favorite queer performances in Grammys history that helped to uplift the LGBTQ community, from Elton John to Lil Nas X.
