Bush’s Gavin Rossdale Cooks Dinner for Famous Guests in His New TV Series

Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale is taking his skills to the small screen, with his new celebrity culinary talk series set to premiere next month.

Titled Dinner with Gavin Rossdale, the new show will see its titular host opening up his home to a number of celebrity guests as he prepares them meals, and engages in deeply personal conversations about their lives, careers, and everything in between. The series will premiere on VIZIO WatchFree+ on Feb. 13.

Some of the guests featured in the series include tennis icon Serena Williams, actress Selma Blair, multi-hyphenate entertainer Common, comedian Jack McBrayer, singer Sir Tom Jones, and actress Brooke Shields. “Miles Davis said that every musician should be able to cook,” Rossdale said in the series’ trailer. “So I took that as a great inspiration with my love affair with food.”

“I had a very simple idea about a TV show where I cook dinner for an inspiring guest,” Rossdale said in a statement. “We get to see these amazing people up close and no one held back. It’s magic to sit and eat with Sir Tom Jones or Serena Williams. I’m so grateful to all my guests.

“When we met with the team at VIZIO – it was obvious this was home,” he added. “It was a huge endeavor and I’m so happy we pulled it together. I’m hoping that everyone enjoys this series as much as I enjoyed making it. I’m very lucky and thrilled – but most of all grateful to everyone who worked to make this show happen.”

“Our team was excited to bring Dinner with Gavin Rossdale to our VIZIO audience because this series is an exceptionally unique blend that delivers equal parts culinary experience and emotional journey,” added Katherine Pond, Vizio’s Group Vice President of Platform Content & Partnerships. “We know our fans respond to food-related content, and with Gavin’s ability to foster meaningful conversation with his extraordinary celebrity guests, we knew this was going to be a hit.”

Rossdale rose to widespread fame as the frontman for British rock outfit Bush, who reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with their 1994 debut album, Sixteen Stone, which included charting singles such as “Comedown” and “Glycerine”. Two years later, they would best their previous accomplishments and top the chart with 1996’s Razorblade Suitcase. Their latest album, The Art of Survival, arrived in 2022.

Timothée Chalamet Dedicates an Unexpected Song to Sarah Sherman in ‘SNL’ Promo

At one point, Chalamet tells Sherman that he was “thinking of dedicating” one of the songs he plans to perform to her. As he’s fresh off portraying the legendary Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic of the folk-rock star, A Complete Unknown, Sherman begins to ponder which song in Dylan’s discography he could be referring to.

“Which one is it? Probably ‘Forever Young,’ right?” she asks, mentioning Dylan’s 1974 hit. In response, Chalamet shuts her down by taking a darker tone. “No, I was thinking ‘Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,’” he tells her.

“Oh, shoot,” Sherman says, visibly disappointed.

Chalamet first appeared on SNL in 2020. Three years later, he hosted the series again, starring in one particularly viral sketch in which he portrayed Troye Sivan in the form of a sleep-paralysis hallucination. However, this marks the actor’s first time serving as musical guest on the series.

Watch Chalamet and Sherman banter back and forth in the promo below, and catch the full episode of Saturday Night Live on Jan. 25 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The show also streams live on Peacock, where you can find previous episodes of the series.

Charli XCX to Produce & Possibly Star in New Movie ‘The Moment’ Based on Her Original Idea

Charli XCX is producing — and will possibly star in — a new movie she conceptualized.

As announced by Variety on Thursday (Jan. 23), the 32-year-old singer/songwriter will team up with A24 for a film titled The Moment, which will be based on her own original idea. Details about the plot and characters have not yet been revealed, but the publication reports that Charli may also star in the project.

Aidan Zamiri will make his directorial debut on the project. The Scottish photographer and filmmaker also wrote the screenplay with Bertie Brandes; A.G. Cooke, who produced much of Charli’s year-defining 2024 album Brat, is locked in to compose the score.

The Moment marks the first undertaking of the “Apple” singer’s new production company, Studio365. It’s also part of a larger career pivot from Charli, who has previously opened up about wanting to shift from music to acting; coming up, viewers will see the pop star play roles in Benito Skinner’s Overcompensating series, Gregg Araki’s upcoming thriller I Want Your Sex, Daniel Goldhaber’s Faces of Death remake and Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero graphic-novel adaptation.

Trending on Billboard

“I’m enjoying learning about being on a set and learning from great directors and actors,” Charli told Variety of her new ventures in December. “I hate it when musicians dive into a different field head-first without really researching or learning much of anything about it. So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.”

News of Charli’s next film arrives on the same day the 2025 BRIT Awards nominations went live, with the singer sweeping nods in five categories — more than any other act this year — including artist of the year, pop act and dance act. She’s also up for album of the year with Brat, while “Guess” is in the running for song of the year.

Watch ‘The Colors Within’ in Theaters, See Ms. Rachel’s Netflix Debut and More Family Hits of the Week

The Billboard Family Hits of the Week compiles what’s new and worth your family’s time in music, movies, TV, books, games and more. Forget the mind-numbing scrolling and searching “what to watch for family movie night” … again. The best in family entertainment each week is all in one place, in this handy guide. Isn’t it satisfying to cross something off your list?

This weekend brings the highly-rated, PG anime movie The Colors Within to theaters, actor Timothée Chalamet to Saturday Night Live and YouTube Kids sensation Ms. Rachel to Netflix.

The Colors Within introduces viewers to a world of synesthesia through its protagonist, teenager Totsuko, who sees colors in those around her. The Japanese movie explores color, music (Totsuko joins a band) and growing up, and its Jan. 24 U.S. theatrical release has it showing with subtitles and dubbed into English.

Follow Friday night at the movies with Saturday night at home, tuning in to SNL with older kids when the young ones are in bed (or on Sunday, if SNL‘s airtime is just too late!). Chalamet, a face movie lovers have most recently seen in the Dune franchise and the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, plus in 2023’s Wonka, is host and musical guest on the Jan. 25 episode on NBC. It’s the actor’s third time hosting but first time booked for the music segment — but he did his own vocals in the Dylan pic, so he’s learned a thing or two about commanding a stage. It could be a fine weekend to take in some sketch comedy and pique your children’s interest in Dylan.

By Monday, when the older kids are busy with schoolwork, Netflix is premiering a program meant for the nursery school-aged group. If you allow any YouTube time in your home — keep in mind the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends screen time be very limited for children under 2, but their guidelines note that viewing educational content together with a parent or caregiver is OK — you’ve likely seen the playful Ms. Rachel and her toddler learning videos. Starting Jan. 27, Netflix will have four episodes featuring curated content from Ms. Rachel, who has a background in early childhood and music education. The network notes Ms. Rachel’s focus on early language development, phonics and learning to read.

In a new one-minute promo for the episode released on Wednesday (Jan. 22), the actor explains that he’s “never done this before,” referring to both hosting and performing during the episode, adding, “It’s a lot of work and I want to focus on the songs.”

Therefore, he’s called on four of his doppelgängers — a callback to the viral lookalike contest in Lower Manhattan back in October that he made a guest appearance at. In the clip, the body doubles do extra work to help save Chalamet time, including “meeting with the writers, working on my monologue and, of course, listening to Mikey Day brag about hosting Is It Cake?.”

In the middle of the promo, Chalamet gets a text reminding him that he has a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Since he’s all tied up, he sends one of the lookalikes to the show instead — much to the confusion of Fallon.

Lucy Dacus Pledges $10,000 to Gender-Affirming Surgery GoFundMes in Wake of Trump’s Return

In an executive order issued on his first day back in office, President Donald Trump rolled back protections for the transgender community and declared that the United States would no longer provide any federal funds to “promote gender ideology.” If it’s a fight the president wants on trans rights, then Lucy Dacus is ready to square up.

In a post to her X account on Wendesday (Jan. 22), the singer-songwriter told her fans to share GoFundMe pages for trans people looking to pay for gender-affirming surgeries, promising that she would donate $10,000 as a means of helping. “if trans people wanna comment surgery gofundmes, I’m gonna give away 10k in $500 increments until it’s gone,” she wrote. “if other people wanna scroll through and make donations, please do.”

The post, which has since earned more than 300 replies, ended with a stark message from the Boygenius singer about the future for trans Americans under a second Trump presidency. “the government will never be the source of our validation or protection,” she wrote. “we have to do it ourselves.”

Trump’s executive order (titled “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government”) makes it the official policy of the United States that there are only two sexes, while also eliminating any and all federal funding for gender-affirming health care.

The executive order comes despite calls from established medical organizations — including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychological Association and the Endocrine Society — for policies aimed at limiting access to gender-affirming care to stop. Additionally, the American Medical Association continues to acknowledge that gender identity and sexual orientation both exist on a spectrum rather than as a binary.

LGBTQ+ advocacy organization Lambda Legal already announced that they plan to challenge Trump’s executive order in court, saying “the impact of these executive actions will be devastating — stripping away health care access, weakening workplace protections from abuse, inviting exclusion and harassment of vulnerable school children, and giving a green light to discrimination throughout public life.”

Meanwhile, Dacus is currently promoting her forthcoming new album, Forever Is a Feeling. Last week, she debuted two new songs, “Limerence” and “Ankles,” while debuting the latter during a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Ominous ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 3 Trailer Previews Cruel Summer For Stranded Teens Cued to Drowning Pool’s ‘Bodies’: Watch

Get ready to go back to the woods. Paramount+ and Showtime dropped the spooky trailer for the upcoming third season of acclaimed, Emmy-nominated series Yellowjackets on Wednesday morning (Jan. 22). The first peek at the nail-biting show about a group of talented high school soccer players who survive a plane crash in the wilderness will return for a two-episode premiere on Feb. 14 on streaming and on demand for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan; the on-air debut will take place on Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. ET.

The two-minute trailer is cued to hard rock band Drowning Pool’s signature 2001 hit, “Bodies,” as, like the show, it toggles between footage of the young women fighting for their survival in the deep woods and their still-shellshocked adult selves. “Once upon a time, a bunch of teenage girls go stranded in the wilderness,” says a voiceover, as another, ominous voice, whispers the chorus to the Drowning Pool song: “let the bodies hit the floor.”

“And they hunted their friends… feasted on their flesh and they went completely nuts,” she says as the tempo ramps up and we see the girls howling, running through the woods in pelts while wielding sharp implements and shouting “buzz, buzz, buzz” as they jump around in unison.

With allusions to the cannibalistic behavior, the grown-up versions of the players worry that the desperate lengths they went to to survive will follow them for the rest of their lives as some mysterious force appears to be stalking them in the present.

The show is led by a strong ensemble cast featuring the young players portrayed by Liv Hewson, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Courtney Eaton, Sophie Thatcher and Samantha Hanratty, while the adult versions are played by Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell.

A description of the upcoming season promises that, “as summer arrives, the Yellowjackets face a fragile victory — the brutal winter that nearly claimed them is finally behind them, but distrust in leadership and tension within the team jeopardize their chances of being rescued. In the present, long-buried secrets from their pasts begin to surface. As the women fight to keep their lives from unraveling, they must confront a chilling question: who are they really, and what dark truths are they hiding from each other and themselves?”

Joining the cast this year will be Oscar-winner Hilary Swank and comedian/actor Joel McHale, with Elijah Wood returning in his recurring guest role.

The first two seasons of the show featured a driving title track and score composed by That Dog./Shudder to Think veterans Anna Waronker and Craig Wedren, which was later covered and released as a single by Alanis Morissette. The show also featured a barrage of classic 1980s-1990s alt rock songs, including classics from Morissette, Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair, Hole, Wilson Phillips, Portishead, Belly, Wreckx-N-Effect, Ace of Base, Enya, as well as Nirvana, the Cranberries, Pulp, Veruca Salt, Papa Roach, Elliott Smith, Garbage, Tori Amos, 4 Non Blondes, Madonna, N.W.A. and many more.
