John Fogerty will visit Australia for the first time since 2012 when he headlines the Country Fest Queensland this easter. And for the first time in a lifetime, he’ll dish-up some Creedence.

Morgan Evans, Lee Kernaghan, James Johnston and many others are on the bill, set for 30-31 March, but it’s the Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman who turns heads.

According to festival reps, the rock legend will perform a set of his own songs, then a second set playing CCR classics – something he hasn’t done in these parts since 1972.

Fogerty visits the land Down Under a year after he gained control of his CCR publishing rights, ending a half-century struggle that was said to be one of the music industry’s grimmest and most arduous tales.

With that deal, the singer, songwriter and guitarist unlocked the rights to such classics as “Proud Mary,” “Down on the Corner,” Fortunate Son,” “Bad Moon Rising” “Up Around the Bend” and “Green River.”

One of America’s seminal rock bands, CCR had a seriously hot streak run, including landing five top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 between 1969 and 1970 before splitting in 1972.

Fogerty wasn’t able to bask in those glory years. When Fantasy Records’ late boss Saul Zaentz took control of Fogerty’s publishing in 1980, an epic and ugly legal fight ensued, resulting in the Rock Hall inductee refusing to play CCR songs live.

That car crash is now in the review.

CCR was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, with Bruce Springsteen doing the honors. Though CCR never nabbed a Grammy Award, Fogerty won a golden gramophone in 1997 for Blue Moon Swamp (for best rock album).

Country music is booming in Australia. According to Luminate’s “2023 Midyear Report,” Australia is the world’s No. 3 market for the genre behind the United States and Canada.

During the first half of 2023, Aussies streamed country music 1.1 billion times, based on the top 500 songs in the genre, with U.S. stars Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs among the favorites.

Country Fest is presented by NQ Licensed Events and Dittmann Bucking Bulls, and will be held at Dittmann Bull Pit, Bloomsbury in Mackay, Queensland.

The hosts of The View slammed Madonna on Friday (Jan. 19) after the icon was sued by two New York City men for starting her Celebration tour stops two hours late.
“I personally wouldn’t wait two hours to get a hot oil massage from George Clooney, much less a concert by anybody,” host Joy Behar said during The View‘s Hot Topics segment. However, Sunny Hostin wasn’t “bothered” by the situation. “I don’t think she should be sued,” she said. “This is baked into Madonna. She’s an icon. She’s always late. When you go to a Madonna concert, you know you have to eat before, you have to get lit before, and you’re going to wait about two hours and listen to a DJ.”

However, the group noted that most acts including Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez and more, all start their shows on time.

“Insert any person’s name who are two hours late. It’s disrespectful,” Sara Haines added. “You’re literally flipping off your fans who paid to come and watch you. You can be a diva. You should not act like a diva. To me, Madonna is not there.”

Haines continued, “Beyoncé? Always on time. Taylor Swift, Pink, that’s called respectful. It’s how you’re raised. You respect someone’s time the way you expect them to respect yours. You showed up here. They paid hundreds of dollars.”

Madonna is currently facing a federal class action lawsuit after allegedly starting her three New York City concerts later than scheduled, a delay that her accusers — show attendees Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden — say caused harm to themselves and other ticket buyers who “had to get up early to go to work” the next day.

In a complaint filed Wednesday (Jan. 17) in Brooklyn federal court, Fellows and Hadden claim Madge breached her contract with concertgoers and violated New York state laws by starting the shows in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center past 10:30 p.m. instead of the scheduled 8:30 p.m. The two men say attendees were “left stranded in the middle of the night,” as the show ended past 1 a.m., and some were “confronted with limited public transportation” options. They also point out that the concert took place “on a weeknight,” meaning they “had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day.”

Green Day will welcome fans to paradise on their forthcoming The Saviors Tour, by playing Dookie and American Idiot in full each night.
Just days out from the release of Saviors, the pop-punk veterans confirm they’ll perform the classic albums on each and every date of the stadium tour, along with “a bunch of your other favorites, new and old, all summer long.”

Hints have been flying left and right, though Rock Hall inductees announced details for the first time this week.

Timing is everything. Dookie this year celebrates its 30th anniversary with the release of a deluxe edition and a surprise club show in Las Vegas last October, where the trio performed the 1994 LP in full, from “Burnout” to “F.O.D.,” and, of course, the hidden track “All By Myself”.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told the crowd at Fremont Country Club that 2024 would be a massive year for the band and its fans. “We are doing a big tour next year,” explained on the night. “It is going to be Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and Linda Lindas.”

American Idiot is enjoying its own milestone, its 20th anniversary. The band threw a lyrical grenade during their set Dec. 31 on ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, when they tweaked the politically charged lyrics to the title track, for a swipe at Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.

Released in 2004, American Idiot was the first of the band’s three No. 1 albums, logging three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and, for a time, allowing Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt to authoritatively boast at being the world’s biggest rock band.

The North America leg is slated to start July 29 at Nationals Park, Washington, DC. Before that, a tour of the U.K. and Europe is locked-in with Nothing but Thieves, the Hives, Donots, the Interrupters, and Maid of Ace, kicking off May 30 at O Son Do Camiño in Monto Do Gozo, Spain.

Produced by Live Nation, this will be the band’s first major tour since the 120-date 2016–17 Revolution Radio tour and the 29-date, 2021–22 Hella Mega Tour alongside Weezer and Fall Out Boy.

The trek is announced ahead of the release of Saviors this Friday, Jan. 19. The band’s 14th studio album, Saviors is the followup to 2020’s Father of All Motherf—ers, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart.

A little over a month after Kendrick Lamar headlined an event for Global Citizen’s Move Afrika campaign, the initiative is expanding to West Africa in 2024, with Ghana joining Rwanda as a host nation for a 2024 concert event.

The announcement arrived on Wednesday (Jan. 17) at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland from Global Citizen; pgLang, the creative imprint co-founded by Lamar and Dave Free; Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana; and Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda.

The Move Afrika: Ghana initiative looks to drive economic investment in the Ghanian entertainment industry, and is part of the wider Move Afrika campaign, which aims to establish an international music touring circuit across Africa. Musical talent at the upcoming 2024 event in Accra, Ghana, has not been announced, but Global Citizen previously brought Usher, SZA, Stormzy and TEMS to a 2022 concert in Accra as part of a different campaign.

“I am excited to announce that later this year, Global Citizen will return to Ghana with Move Afrika: Ghana. Global Citizen is known for leveraging live music events to engage youth while creating social and economic impact,” said President Akufo-Addo. “We are delighted to join Rwanda in becoming the next destination for Global Citizen’s multi-year, multi-market pan-African tour and expect continued impact in the years ahead. Today, we celebrate this milestone for Ghana. We look forward to future announcements on this growing cohort of Move Afrika destinations.”

“We visited Accra for the first time in 2022 and really connected with the people and the culture. Accra will always be a special place for us and we are excited to work with Move Afrika and expand our efforts to Ghana,” pgLang said in a joint statement.

“Congratulations to my brother and friend, President Nana Akufo-Addo, for your partnership with Move Afrika,” offered President Kagame. “Last month, Rwanda was privileged to host the inaugural Move Afrika concert, in partnership with Global Citizen. Without exaggeration, Kendrick Lamar moved the whole city of Kigali with his performance. We are even happier that he took the time to engage with our local artists. Africa has the talent. More often than not, what they lack is mentorship and support. Global Citizen’s commitment to develop the workforce needed for professional concert tours will leave an important economic legacy for our region.”

“We are honored to bring Move Afrika to Ghana. Our partnership with the Ghanaian and Rwandan governments will showcase the best of African creative talent to the world, while generating economic investment into the local creative economy, which will have a lasting impact across the continent for years to come,” said Kweku Mandela, Global Citizen’s chief vision officer, in a statement.

Coachella has the enviable reputation as a place where vintage acts put aside their differences, bands bury the hatchet, legends return to the spotlight.
Jane’s Addiction, Pixies, Pavement, Rage Against the Machine, Outkast and The Stooges all famously got the bands back together in the California desert.

This year it’s No Doubt’s turn to keep that reputation intact.

The lineup for Coachella 2024 is suitably stacked, with Lana Del Rey, Tyler, The Creator and Doja Cat listed as headliners; and the likes of Peso Pluma, Lil Uzi Vert, Blur, Ice Spice, J Balvin, Jhené Aiko and scores more join the bill.

The big surprise is the inclusion of No Doubt, which is set for a first reunion concert in nine years.

“We’ll see you in the desert this April!!!,” reads a statement on the band’s social accounts, an announcement that’s now trending.

Earlier, Gwen Stefani, bass player Tony Kanal, drummer Adrian Young and guitarist Tom Dumont teased a comeback with a video posted to their socials. “Just a Girl” plays over the clip, in which Stefani reminisces about the good old days. The singer fires off a text to Kanal, and the four bandmates assemble for a Zoom call. “Do you wanna do a show?,” she asks. The answer, as we now know, is a solid yes.

Next year marks the 30th anniversary of No Doubt’s hit third album Tragic Kingdom, which featured breakout singles including “Just a Girl,” “Spiderwebs” and “Don’t Speak,” and which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in Dec. 1996, more than a year after its release.

Last year, “Don’t Speak” entered the Billion Views Club on YouTube, marking the band’s first video — and one of less than 20 released in the 1990s — to reach that milestone. Also in 2023, No Doubt issued their 1995 sophomore LP The Beacon Street Collection on vinyl for the first time.

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2024 will play out over the two weekends of April 12-14 and 19-21. Festival passes will be available at Coachella.com starting on Friday (Jan. 19).

Click here to check out tickets for either weekend. Passes are divided into three tiers and priced at $499-$549 for general admission and $1,609 for VIP. Camping passes start at $149.

Bush will celebrate their 30th anniversary this summer with a 32-date North American tour slated to kick off on July 26 at the Hayden Homes Amphitheater in Bend, OR. Bush – Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour will find the Gavin Rossdale-fronted rockers criss-crossing the continent with special guests Alice in Chains guitarist and solo artist Jerry Cantrell and Candlebox, as well as additional guests to be announced soon.

The tour is slated to include stops in Denver, Indianapolis, Chicago, Nashville, Cincinnati, Toronto, Boston, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas and San Diego before winding down on Sept. 15 with a show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

Loaded The Greatest Hits 1994-2023 — Bush’s first-ever hits collection — pulls together the band’s seven No. 1 singles, the new track “Nowhere to Go but Everywhere” and a studio cover of the Beatles’ “Come Together.” Among the beloved hits on the collection are: “Everything Zen,” “Little Things,” “Comedown,” “Glycerine,” “Machinehead,” “Swallowed” and “Greedy Fly.”

An artist presale will begin at noon ET on Tuesday (Jan. 16), with VIP packages available, followed by a general onsale on Friday (Jan. 19) beginning at 10 a.m. local time; for information on tickets click here. A limited number of tickets will be available in participating markets with prices as low as $19.94 (before taxes and fees) as a tribute to the release of the band’s 1994 debut, Sixteen Stone.

As it stands, Orlando will call time on his 62-year concerts career on March 22 at Mohegan Sun’s 10,000-seat arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

“We are honored that after such a historic entertainment and humanitarian career, Tony Orlando has chosen Mohegan Sun to host his final live performance,” comments Tom Cantone, president of sports & entertainment for Mohegan. “It’s now time for us to give him a standing ovation for entertaining over 100,000 fans at Mohegan Sun over the years, something that only Billy Joel has done, as he will be forever part of Mohegan’s entertainment family.”

According to reps, this will mark his 65th appearance at the venue over a 23-year period. During that impressive run, Orlando was also inducted into Mohegan Sun’s Walk Of Fame in 2010.

“I am so honored that my last concert will be at my favorite venue on Earth, Mohegan Sun Arena,” comments Orlando, paying tribute to the “flawless” work by Cantone, the stage crews, and the staff. “I also want to thank all my friends within the Mohegan Tribe for making me feel like family and for the opportunity to say goodbye,” he adds. “Thank you for making my dreams come true.”

Orlando is a two-time American Music Award winner and a recipient of the People’s Choice Award for best male entertainer. In 2016 he collected the Casino entertainer of the year award and the Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment from the Congressional Medal Of Honor Society, honoring his tireless efforts on behalf of veterans.

In 1990, the entertainer was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, a permanent reminder of his outstanding achievements in the entertainment industry.

The New York Pops will honor industry legend Clive Davis at the orchestra’s 41st birthday gala, “The Soundtrack of Our Lives: A Tribute to the Legendary Clive Davis,” on Monday, Apr. 29, at 7:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The orchestra will be joined by what is promised to be “a spectacular group of guest artists.”
The title of the event borrows the title of Davis’ 2013 autobiography and a 2017 documentary film on his life, now available on Netflix.

“We are thrilled to be honoring Clive Davis and his innumerable contributions to popular music,” said Steven Reineke, New York Pops music director and conductor, in a statement. “For decades, Mr. Davis has introduced us to countless favorite artists and songs, and shaped the American music landscape. Together with the 78 musicians of The New York Pops, we’ll revisit the soundtrack of our lives at Carnegie Hall.”

Proceeds from the Gala will support the New York Pops’ PopsEd music education programs. The concert will be followed at 8:30 p.m. by a black-tie optional dinner and dance at the Mandarin Oriental New York.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 11:00 a.m. Tickets to the concert and dinner dance are currently available for New York Pops donors of $100 or more by calling (212) 765-7677.

Davis, the chief creative officer for Sony Music Entertainment, previously held top posts at Columbia, Arista and J Records. In those years, he also oversaw Arista Nashville, LaFace Records and Bad Boy Records.

Davis has received four Grammy Awards as an album producer, including best album awards in three different genres — rock (Santana’s Supernatural, which also won the overall album of the year award), pop (Kelly Clarkson’s Breakaway) and R&B (Jennifer Hudson’s eponymous debut album). In 2000, he received a Trustees Award from The Recording Academy and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (with Patti Smith doing the honors). In 2010, The Recording Academy named The Grammy Museum theater in his honor. In November 2022, Davis was one of seven honorees of the National Portrait Gallery’s Portrait of a Nation awards.
