Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me” leaps to No. 1, from No. 20, for its first week atop the Billboard Global 200 chart. Meanwhile, Tate McRae’s “Greedy” bounds 21-1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for its second week at the summit.
The singles, among several others, surge on the surveys a week after the top 19 titles on the Global 200 were holiday tracks and the full top 20 on Global Excl. U.S. were seasonal songs.

Meanwhile, three songs are new to the Global 200’s top 10: Xavi’s “La Diabla” (33-4), Peso Pluma and Anitta’s “Bellakeo” (43-7) and Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” (50-8). On Global Excl. U.S., “La Diabla” (23-2) and “Bellakeo” (26-8) also reach the top 10 for the first time.

The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States.

Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.

‘Lovin on Me’ Leaps to No. 1 on Global 200

Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me” ascends to the top of the Global 200 with 52 million streams (up 15%) and 11,000 sold (up 6%) worldwide in the Dec. 29-Jan. 4 tracking week. The rapper adds his second No. 1 on the chart, and his first on his own, after Jung Kook and Harlow’s “3D” reigned in its debut week in October.

Tate McRae’s “Greedy” jumps 24-2 on the Global 200, after two weeks at No. 1 beginning in November, and Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” rebounds 32-3, following a week on top the same month.

Xavi’s “La Diabla” flies 33-4 on the Global 200, led by 56.9 million streams (up 16%) worldwide. The song becomes the first top 10 on the chart for the Mexican-American singer-songwriter (born Joshua Xavier Gutiérrez). It concurrently tops the U.S.-based Hot Latin Songs chart for a second week.

Rounding out the Global 200’s top five, Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red” roars 40-5, after it dominated for four weeks beginning in September.

Peso Pluma and Anitta’s “Bellakeo” blasts 43-7 on the Global 200, with 44.4 million streams (up 8%) worldwide. The song is the fifth and second top 10 for the Mexican and Brazilian stars, respectively.

Also new to the Global 200’s top 10, Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” hikes 50-8, with 29.5 million streams (up 13%) and 3,000 sold (up 12%) worldwide. The Strafford, Vt., native scores his first top 10 on the tally.

‘Greedy’ Back Atop Global Excl. U.S.

Tate McRae’s “Greedy” returns to No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart with 38.9 million streams (up 10%) and 1,000 sold outside the U.S. Dec. 29-Jan. 4. The track became McRae’s first leader on the list in early December.

Xavi’s “La Diabla” darts 23-2 on Global Excl. U.S., led by 44.5 million streams (up 17%) outside the U.S., becoming his first top 10.

Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” soars 26-3 for a new Global Excl. U.S. high; Jung Kook’s “Seven,” featuring Latto, charges 22-4, after it reigned for nine weeks starting upon its debut last July; and Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me” jumps 27-5 for a new best.

Plus, Peso Pluma and Anitta’s “Bellakeo” climbs 28-6 on Global Excl. U.S., with 35.7 million streams (up 10%) outside the U.S. As on the Global 200, they up their totals to five and two career top 10s, respectively.

Harlow’s “Lovin on Me,” released on Generation Now/Atlantic, drew 29 million streams (up 13%, good for top Streaming Gainer honors on the Hot 100) and 52.3 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 1%) and sold 8,000 downloads (up 10%) in the Dec. 29-Jan. 4 tracking week, according to Luminate.

The single bounds 19-1 for a third week atop the Streaming Songs chart; rises 2-1 for a second frame atop Digital Song Sales; and holds at its No. 5 high on Radio Songs.

The track became Harlow’s third Hot 100 leader on the Dec. 2, 2023-datec chart, following “First Class” (No. 1 for three weeks in April-May 2022) and “Industry Baby,” with Lil Nas X (No. 1, one week, October 2021). Notably, he is the first artist to have placed atop the chart each year since 2021. (Drake and Taylor Swift each led with new No. 1s in 2020-23; plus, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has jingled to No. 1 on charts dated each year in 2019-23.)

“Lovin on Me” concurrently tops the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same methodology as the Hot 100, for an eighth week each.

“Lovin on Me” is currently a standalone single from Harlow, whose most recent album, Jackman., debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 in May, becoming his third top 10 set. (The song’s hook samples singer Delbert “Dale” Greer’s 1995 cut “Whatever.”)

Swift’s “Cruel Summer” soars 19-2 on the Hot 100 following four nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning in October. It rules Radio Songs for an 11th week (72.6 million, up 13%). The song also leads the Adult Pop Airplay chart for an 18th week – surpassing the 17-week reign of Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” last year for the longest for a song by a woman in the chart’s history.

Tate McRae’s first Hot 100 top 10, “Greedy,” flies 24-3, besting its prior No. 7 peak to become her first top five hit on the chart.

Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red” roars 29-4 on the Hot 100, after it led for three nonconsecutive weeks beginning in September, and Zach Bryan’s “I Remember Everything,” featuring Kacey Musgraves, jumps 31-6, after it dominated for a week upon its debut in September, as it ups its commands on the multimetric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs and Hot Country Songs charts to 19, 18 and 15 weeks, respectively.

SZA’s “Snooze” ranks at No. 6 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 2, as it leads the multi-metric Hot R&B Songs chart for a 23rd week.

Tyla’s initial Hot 100 top 10, “Water,” swells 32-7 for a new high, after it previously reached No. 10. It concurrently crowns the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart for a 13th week.

Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” blasts 36-8 on the Hot 100, following 16 weeks at No. 1 beginning last March – the longest reign ever for a non-collaboration – and Luke Combs’ No. 2-peaking “Fast Car” revs 47-9 (up 24% to 46.3 million in radio reach as it wins the chart’s top Airplay Gainer award).

Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Doja Cat’s “Agora Hills” hikes 35-10. The song drew 39 million in radio audience and 11.7 million streams (up 10%) and sold 1,000 in the tracking week.

Doja Cat notches her ninth Hot 100 top 10, following “Paint the Town Red”; “Vegas” (No. 10 peak, October 2022); Post Malone’s “I Like You (A Happier Song),” on which she’s featured (No. 3, October 2022); “Woman” (No. 7, May 2022); “Need To Know” (No. 8, November 2021); “Kiss Me More,” featuring SZA (No. 3, July 2021); Ariana Grande’s “34+35,” on which she and Megan Thee Stallion are featured (No. 2, January 2021); and “Say So,” featuring Nicki Minaj (No. 1, one week, May 2020).

The Scottish singer and songwriter bags the first No. 1 of 2024 with Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent (EMI), up 72-1, an album that topped the national chart for two consecutive weeks following its release in 2023.

Its new chart wings grew out of a surprise “special edition,” which includes five previously-unreleased cuts, available on new physical and digital formats.

The love extends to Capaldi’s chart-topping debut LP Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which improves 46-28. Divinely Uninspired has logged 10 weeks at No. 1 since its release in 2019.

The 27-year-old artist gave fans an update and some insights into his own battles, by way of a lengthy — and positive — New Year’s Eve message in which he pointed out an improvement in his overall health. “I’m currently taking some time off to focus on my health and wellbeing and it’s been going great,” he explained. He’s still not ready to step back into the spotlight, some six months after he announced a hiatus from touring.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s former leader 1989 (Taylor’s Version) holds at No. 2 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, published Friday, Jan. 5, and is the best-placed of Swift’s seven LPs inside the top 40. Further down the list is 2022’s Midnights (No. 8), 2020’s folklore (No. 9), 2017’s reputation (No. 12), 2019’s Lover (No. 13), 2020’s evermore (No. 24) and the original 2014 recording of 1989 (No. 40). According to data published last week by the Official Charts Company, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) was the U.K.’s best-selling LP on vinyl in 2023.

Completing the top 3 on the latest tally is The Weeknd’s career retrospective, The Highlights (Republic Records/XO), while ABBA’s jewel, Gold: Greatest Hits (Polydor), lifts 5-4, its highest position since 2008. Gold extends it all-time record to 1,131 weeks on the chart.

Finally, Vermont, U.S.-born singer and songwriter Noah Kahan enjoys a new peak with his third studio album Stick Season (Island), up 8-3. The title track from it leads the Official U.K. Singles Chart for the first time.

More than two decades after Sophie Ellis-Bextor unleashed “Murder On The Dancefloor,” her pop monster returns to the U.K. top 10 – thanks to Saltburn.
The tune rebounds to No. 8 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, published last Friday, Jan. 5, its first appearance in the top tier for more than 22 years. During the seven-day chart cycle, “Murder” collected more than 2.2 million streams for its best-ever streaming week in the U.K., the Official Charts Company confirms.

There’s no mystery to its fresh legs. “Murder On The Dancefloor” (via Polydor) is synced to a prominent scene in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn, a dark comedy that has erupted on Amazon Prime Video.

“Murder” is one of Ellis-Bextor’s six solo U.K. top 10 hits, peaking at No. 2 back in 2001. The daughter of a popular TV star Janet Ellis and director and producer Robin Bextor, Ellis-Bextor’s breakthrough came with Spiller’s 2000 club cut “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love),” on which she was the uncredited vocalist. The track went to No. 1 on the Official Chart. Ellis-Bextor has also accumulated five U.K. top 10 albums.

Ellis-Bextor isn’t the only artist to benefit from the Saltburn effect. Mason and Princess Superstar’s 2006 single “Perfect (Exceeder)” (via Armada) reenters the top 40 on the Official Singles Chart for the first time in 17 years, appearing at No. 40. Following its release, the single reached No. 3.

As the Christmas songs are swept from the chart for another year, a raft of singles vault up the tally.

As expected, Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” (Republic Records) completes its first summit climb in its 14th week, vaulting 10-1.

Meanwhile, Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me” rebounds 27-2 (up 27-2 via Atlantic); Casso, Raye and D-Block Europe’s “Prada” (Ministry of Sound) bounces 73-3; Tate McRae’s “Greedy” (Ministry of Sound) returns 37-4 and Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” (EMI) is up 96-5.

Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) nabs a sixth nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Jan. 13, 2024), as the set earned nearly 64,000 equivalent album units (down 35%), according to Luminate. Swift has four albums in the top 10 on the new chart, as her chart-topping Midnights, Lover and Folklore are found at Nos. 5, 6 and 10, respectively.

With the new chart’s data reflecting the tracking week of Dec. 29, 2023-Jan. 4, 2024 — the first week after the Dec. 25 Christmas holiday — seasonal albums vacate the top 10 (and entire 200-position chart). A week ago, five holiday efforts populated the top 10.

Meanwhile, Republic Records claims the Billboard 200’s top six and a modern-era single-week record eight of the top 10.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Jan. 13, 2024-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Tuesday (Jan. 9). The top seven titles on the new Billboard 200 are all former chart-toppers, as, following 1989 (Taylor’s Version) at No. 1 are Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time (rising 5-2 with nearly 64,000; up 6%); Drake’s For All the Dogs (6-3; 58,000, up 1%); Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 (3-4; 57,000, down 13%); Swift’s Midnights (9-5; 46,000, down 13%); Swift’s Lover (11-6; 45,000, down 10%); and SZA’s SOS (13-7; 44,000, down 5%).

Noah Kahan’s Stick Season surges 18-8 with 42,000 equivalent album units earned (up 5%), Zach Bryan’s self-titled former No. 1 vaults 20-9 with 41,000 (up 9%), and Swift’s chart-topping Folklore flies 21-10 with 36,000 (down 3%).

Republic Records has a banner week in Billboard 200’s top 10, as the label is home to eight of the top 10 titles. Since Luminate’s electronically monitored music data began powering the chart on May 25, 1991, no label had previously held eight of the top 10 on the Billboard 200 simultaneously. Republic previously boasted seven of the top 10 on six different occasions — all in 2023. The company first claimed seven of the top 10 on the Feb. 18, 2023-dated chart.

Republic also stands tall on the new chart with the Nos. 1-6 titles, marking the second time that the label has achieved the feat. Republic, which formed in 1995, is the only label to have held the entire top six (since August 1963, when the chart combined its previously separate mono and stereo rankings into one overall chart) and last did so on the Dec. 9, 2023-dated list.

Willy Wonka has charted lots of ear candy on Billboard’s surveys.

For over half a century, songs that stemmed from Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have sweetened Billboard surveys, encompassing three hit films, a Broadway musical and more.

The franchise’s latest entry is Wonka, the movie that chronicles the backstory of how the famed chocolatier’s career began. Its companion album debuts at No. 18 on Billboard’s Soundtracks chart (dated Jan. 6), with 4,000 equivalent album units, up 29%, Dec. 22-28, according to Luminate.

One of the set’s signature songs, “Pure Imagination,” sung by Wonka’s namesake star Timothée Chalamet, hit No. 27 two weeks earlier on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart.

The film’s soundtrack features new songs performed by Chalamet and fellow cast members, including such cuts central to the movie’s storyline as “A Hatful of Dreams,” ballad “For a Moment,” a duet with co-star Calah Lane, “You’ve Never Had Chocolate Like This,” and “A World of Your Own.” Many were written by Simon Farnaby, Neil Hannon and Wonka director Paul King, while Joby Talbot wrote the film’s original score.

“A World of Your Own,” notably, has been submitted for contention for best original song at the 96th Academy Awards. (Nominations will be announced Jan. 24, with the Oscars to be held March 10.)

Fellow Wonka stars, including Hugh Grant and Keegan-Michael Key, also perform tracks in the film and on its soundtrack.

Wonka, meanwhile, is off to a scrumdiddlyumptious start at the box office, already closing in on reported grosses of $150 million domestically and $250 million internationally since it premiered Dec. 15.

As the new movie adds another chapter of chart (ready, set) action, here’s a look at how Willy Wonka has long been choc-ful of success on Billboard’s charts.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) (via Universal) is by some distance the most successful of Swift’s re-recorded albums in these parts, ARIA notes. Her previous projects, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version), each spent one week in 2021, while Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) led for two weeks in 2023.

Closing out the top three is the Weeknd’s 2021 career retrospective The Highlights (Universal), up 6-2, equaling its peak position, while Swift’s 2022 studio release Midnights holds at No. 3. Close behind is Morgan Wallen’s former leader One Thing At A Time (Mercury/Universal), gaining 12-4.

As Christmas recordings shuffle out of the main ARIA charts, published Friday, Jan. 5, Jack Harlow is one of the beneficiaries. The Louisville artist’s latest hit “Lovin On Me” (Atlantic/Warner) enjoys new life in the new year, up 7-1 for its seventh non-consecutive week leading the ARIA Singles Chart.

There are similar rebounds for Tate McRae’s “Greedy” (RCA/Sony), up 15-2, equaling its peak position, and Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red” (RCA/Sony), which ruled the national tally for 10 weeks last year and roars up the latest list, 21-3.

Also, Swift’s “Cruel Summer” heats up 24-4; “Prada” by Casso, Raye and D-Block Europe bounces 25-5 (Ministry of Sound/Sony); South African artist Tyla’s international breakthrough hit “Water” (Sony) flows 28-7, its equal best spot; and Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” (Universal) improves 26-6, for a new high.

U.S. country star Zach Bryan is double trouble on the ARIA Singles Chart, with two songs in the top 10 — “I Remember Everything” featuring Kacey Musgraves (Universal/Warner), up 30-8, and “Something In The Orange” (Warner), up 36-10. In a sign of the strength of country music in the land Down Under, Wallen’s “Last Night” pounces 35-9.

Finally, just one new release appears in the ARIA Top 40 this time around, English producer Fred Again and U.S. rapper Baby Keem’s “leavemealone” (Atlantic/Warner), new at No. 34.
