Charlamagne Tha God and Anderson Cooper engaged in a testy back and forth regarding CNN’s coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris concerning how the network has covered her opponent, Donald Trump. Charlamagne Tha God challenged Anderson Cooper on his colleagues making more about Harris’ race while seemingly ignoring Trump’s recent media gaffes and his former staffers framing him as a fascist.
On Thursday (October 24), Charlamagne Tha God was a panelist on Anderson Cooper’s nightly program, and the longtime The Breakfast Club co-host took a question regarding the news Trump will be joining the popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. Cooper asked if Harris should follow suit, to which Charlamagne had plenty to say.
“I think that she should keep calling Donald Trump a fascist. And I think that Americans need to keep looking at the rhetoric of Donald Trump because I don’t know why we’re even thinking about electing somebody who’s talking about putting people in camps,” Charlamagne said.
He continued with, “I don’t know why we’re talking, why we want to elect somebody who’s talking about mass deportation. I don’t know why we’re having this conversation about somebody who wants to terminate the Constitution to overthrow the results of an election.”
Charlamagne ended his answer by saying, “Even me bringing it up now, you brought it back to Kamala and Joe Rogan. Anderson, who gives a damn?” which sparked Cooper to position the point that people who are watching the election might care to hear from her on the platform.
Charlamagne, responding to Cooper saying that how the network is reporting on some of Trump’s violent rhetoric, uttered a statement that has since gone viral.
“I feel like I heard more on this network about [if] Kamala Harris Black than I do about, you know, Donald Trump being a fascist,” he said.
This comment seemed to fluster Cooper, who said, “Honestly, that’s bullsh*t” and the conversation essentially derailed from there with Charlamagne flipping the statement back on Cooper saying that the idea that his network has done enough of dissecting Trump’s words as a comparison.

An audio town hall with Kamala Harris which was conducted by Charlamagne Tha God received rave reactions from those on social media who tuned in.
On Tuesday (October 15), Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris sat down for an audio town hall with The Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God that saw the vice president assured and direct, delighting those on social media tuning in. The interview took place at the iHeart Radio studios in Detroit, Michigan – days after former President Donald Trump insulted the city while speaking to the Detroit Economic Club. The town hall was another stop on Vice President Harris’ media tour, this time with a distinct focus on the concerns of Black male voters, some of whom have expressed doubts about voting for her in November’s election. But Harris exuded confidence. “I’m going to win. I’m going to win,” she said to Charlamagne. “But it’s tight. And what is at stake is truly profound and historic.”
Charlamagne Tha God has expressed his support for Kamala Harris after previously declaring that he wouldn’t vote for President Joe Biden in the summer when he was the Democratic nominee. With The Breakfast Club reaching eight million listeners a month according to data, the host asked the vice president direct questions about her time as a district attorney and as California’s attorney general. “One of the biggest pieces of misinformation, one of the biggest allegations against you, is that you targeted and locked up thousands of black men in San Francisco,” he said pointing out her record of aggressive prosecution of weed-related crimes. “It’s just simply not true,” Harris replied. “I was the most progressive prosecutor in California on marijuana cases and would not send people to jail for simple possession of weed.” She added that if elected, she was prepared to decriminalize recreational marijuana nationwide.
Harris also touted her campaign’s “Opportunity Agenda” for Black men, which was released over the weekend during the conversation in addition to hitting Trump on several points including his desire to eradicate the Constitution due to racism. “Most of those amendments, one thing or another was about a movement by Black people to ensure we’d be equally protected under the law.”

Charlamagne also joined in on jabbing the Republican presidential nominee over his racism in response to Harris outlining the differences between her policies and Trump’s, saying his vision was “about fascism, why can’t we just say that?” Harris responded, “Yes, we can say that.” Some callers got to ask questions in the town hall about reparations (to which Harris demurred) and about voting frustrations. “You can’t let anybody take you out of the game by not voting,” she said. “The solutions are not gonna just happen overnight… the things that we want and are prepared to fight for won’t happen if we’re not active and don’t participate.”
The town hall was a smashing success for those who tuned in via social media and through listening on CNN and MSNBC which aired it live. Jon Cooper, a former strategist for former President Barack Obama, lauded Harris’ appearance and the networks’ airing for a broader audience. “I was very happy to see that both CNN and MSNBC carried Kamala Harris’ national radio town hall event, moderated by Charlemagne tha God,” he wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “It was one of her best interviews ever.”

Charlamagne tha God called out Jake Tapper over a question about Vice President Kamala Harris during an interview.
In a live interview, Charlamagne tha God took CNN correspondent Jake Tapper to task over a question about the vice president and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Tapper asked him if America was ready to elect a former prosecutor to the presidency. “Jake, I don’t even know if that’s the right question, asking if America is ready for a prosecutor,” The Breakfast Club co-host said. “I mean, is America ready for somebody with all of the criminal charges that Donald Trump has? Most convicted felons can’t even get those kinds of jobs that Donald Trump is currently campaigning for. They can get better jobs at McDonald’s and Walmart.”

Charlamagne, who was joined by activist and writer Angela Rye, continued: “It’s weird to have to say, ‘Is America ready for a prosecutor?’ No, is America ready to elect a criminal?” Later on in the interview, Tapper read a quote concerning lying from the media personality’s book Get Honest or Die Lying and asked Charlamagne about how it ties into the “political rollercoaster” of the past few weeks. “I think the media lied to themselves for a week,” he said, referencing how outlets had called for the political rhetoric to be toned down in the wake of the attempt on Donald Trump’s life in Pennsylvania.
“I think CNN lied to themselves for a week. I think MSNBC lied to themselves for a week. And I want folks, especially the media, to understand you don’t have to willfully surrender to fascism.” He added, “You can’t talk about Trump without telling the truth. He absolutely led an attempted coup of this country. His followers were chanting, ‘Hang Mike Pence.’ [Trump] did suggest that Second Amendment supporters do something about Hillary Clinton. You can’t even begin to have conversations about dangerous rhetoric that leads to political violence without talking about Trump.”
Charlamagne tha God also stated that he was supporting Vice President Harris in her presidential run, saying that he had been reluctant to support President Joe Biden for reelection. The galvanizing of support for Harris has been remarkable, with Zoom calls held by organizations led by Black women and Black men in support of her campaign raising close to $3 million. This was part of a historic effort that saw the campaign rake in $81 million over 24 hours.

LL COOL J is back in album mode and hitting the press circuit as he preps for the release of his 14th full-length project, The FORCE. In a new interview with media personality Charlamagne Tha God, LL COOL J discusses his legacy along with his brief beef with JAY-Z and more in their chat.
LL COOL J, 56, was the first guest for Charlamagne Tha God’s new series, Out Of Context, and the pair launched into an easygoing conversation that centers on LL’s status as a GOAT of the culture with the celebrated rapper showing massive amounts of humility throughout.
At the start of the interview, LL challenges the idea of what legacy means in Hip-Hop culture, reminding viewers that at the very least, this is an art form open for interpretation and you can’t worry about the perception from the fans. LL is also aware that releasing music in the age of the Internet is different from his beginnings in 1985 when he was still a teenager.
Around the 50-minute mark, Charlamagne Tha God raised the point of how battling in Hip-Hop has taken a new turn with LL making mention of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef while adding that in these types of contests, you can’t take it personally.
However, Charlamagne inquired about a long-running rumor that LL and JAY-Z battled in a parking lot in the 1990s with Sauce Money, then affiliated with Roc-A-Fella Records, attempting to challenge the Queens rapper as well. LL explains that JAY-Z also began rapping but shared that he ran out of rhymes but it didn’t appear that he was deeply affected by the moment.

Tyla had to waste time out of her busy day to set the record straight one time about her race.
The South African “Water” singer is riding a wave of success with her hit single and self-titled debut album and is still making press rounds.
During a recent stop at The Breakfast Club, which is becoming the one-stop if you need some controversy, the singer curved a question from host Charlamagne Tha God regarding the past fallout about comments about her race.
How Did This All Begin?
The drama stems from Tyla identifying as “coloured,” which is quite normal for non-white, mixed citizens from South Africa, but in the states, regarded as a slur by Black Americans.
Many folks took her using the term as her way to “disassociate” herself from her Blackness while embracing a term that is widely seen as a slur in the United States.
A debate sparked from her using the term, leading to Charlamagne asking for her perspective on the matter. She punted to her team, who told her not to answer in a now-viral clip.
Hours after the fallout from the clip, Tyla took to her X, formerly Twitter account, to address the situation. She stated that she does identify as a Black woman and further clarified her use of the term “coloured.”
Per The Vibe:
“Never denied my Blackness, idk where that came from,” she began. “I’m mixed with black/Zulu, irish, Mauritian/Indian and Coloured. in Southa I would be classified as a Coloured woman and other places I would be classified as a black woman. Race is classified differently in different parts of the world.”
The “Jump” artist went on, “I don’t expect to be identified as Coloured outside of Southa by anyone not comfortable doing so because i under stand the weight of that word outside of SA, but to close this conversation, I’m both Coloured in South Africa and a black woman. As a woman for the culture. It’s and not or…with that said ASAMBEEE.” Check out the post below.
The Reactions To Tyla Using “Coloured” Are Still Coming In
Tyla’s initial lack of response to Charlamagne’s question and follow-up statement has not quelled the diaspora war on social media.
Many are defending the 22-year-old musician, while others are using the moment to make jokes about her.
“She essentially is saying refer to her as coloured AND a black woman depending on context, environment, & comfortability…which is what some people have been saying from the get… and some of y’all are still choosing to argue and make this a diaspora war,” one user on X wrote.
Another user joked using The Wayan’s Brother’s iconic opening theme song.
We will log this latest moment in the classic social media nonsense folder.

Late last month, one Tereasa Johnson aka Reesa Teesa had social media buzzing with her TikTok series Who TF Did I Marry in which she described how she was hoodwinked into a marriage by a man dubbed “Legion” who was living all the lies imaginable and got her caught up in his toxic way of life.
With her sudden rise to fame, Reesa Teesa became an overnight celebrity in the culture and with that being the case, Charlamagne tha God cracked a joke at her expense. Unfortunately, it cut deep.
Now, tha God is apologizing for his misstep. In a recent interview on The Tamron Hall Show, Reesa was asked about the negative comments she’s been getting as a result of her TikTok series. And she admitted that when Charlamagne made the “big back” comment (a joke aimed at people that are overweight), it was “disappointing” and “hurtful.”
Naturally, Charlamagne tha God (who often tells listeners to be empathetic and respectful to others) did apologize to Reesa Teesa for his rude comment, sort of. Charlamagne also reminded everyone that disturbing someone else’s peace of mind is never the way to go.
“All jokes aside, I tell y’all all the time the easiest way to keep your own peace is to not disturb the peace of others,” said Charlamagne I disturbed that woman’s peace and that wasn’t my intention so I apologize if my words made her feel that way.”
He also added, “I personally feel like we have to stop bringing this stuff to social media if you don’t want people to have an opinion on it,” he said. “Some of this stuff should just be reserved to our therapists if we can’t handle people having an opinion about whatever we are venting about. Keep it off social media.”
Well, we wouldn’t call that a full walk back.
Reesa meanwhile has to deal with the subject of her TikTok series, her ex-husband Jerome McCoy aka “Legion,” who is considering suing her over the series, which he says has negatively affected his career as a public relations representative at a hospital.
If nothing else, social media is great for some good ol’ fashion relationship drama.

Welp, it’s finally official: comedian Jess Hilarious will be the permanent new co-host at The Breakfast Club with Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy. After spending much of 2023 rotating different co-hosts, including Jess Hilarious, to replace Angela Yee, who left the show in December 2022, it was announced Monday that Hilarious is finally on the show for good.
“I’m very excited to have Jess Hilarious join The Breakfast Club. She is a force in her own right, an actress, comedian, podcaster, and now, the co-host of The Breakfast Club,” Thea Mitchem, iHeartMedia executive vice president of programming, said in a published statement. “Jess was the standout choice to join Charlamagne and DJ Envy to build upon The Breakfast Club’s legacy of entertaining, informing and enlightening the community.”
Hilarious, born Jessica Robin Moore, also expressed gratitude for making the cut as permanent co-host.
“I’m looking forward to joining forces with one of the largest media platforms,” she said. “I’m confident that taking the third seat at The Breakfast Club will show people that Jess Hilarious is not just comedy, but culture.”
Things were looking pretty touch and go regarding Hilarious’ future on the popular radio show. The Wild ‘N Out star had already told her followers that she had been selected as The Breakfast Club’s permanent host last month, but Charlamagne disputed the claim telling TMZ that he was “not happy” with the fact that he was still in the dark regarding who the new host would be and that he’s “done with the rotating of the guest hosts,” which implied that Hilarious still hadn’t gotten the greenlight.
Chances of Jess joining the show seemed even slimmer last week when she went in on Charlamagne and Envy calling them “trash” for suggesting that R&B songstress SZA is this generation’s Mary J. Blige.
But all’s well that ends well, and now Jess Hilarious is officially a card-carrying member of The Breakfast Club. Congrats, Jess, and good luck.

It has only been a month since comedian Jess Hilarious announced that she was set to be the new host of The Breakfast Club with Charlamagne The God and DJ Envy, and drama between Jess and the hosts has already ensued. Note: Charlamagne disputed the claim that she was selected as a permanent host, but we’ll get to that in a second.
On Tuesday (Jan. 23), Jess shared a post by The Shade Room that showed Envy and Charlamagne elevating songstress SZA to the level of Mary J. Blige. Jess was having none of it.
“These N-ggas trash,” the Wild ‘N Out comedian wrote. “Envy shut up! I know artists be pissed when old heads do this bc now everybody negatively comparing SZA to MJB and it ain’t even her fault! She has her own identity already.”
It’s arguable that Hilarious isn’t wrong here. Calling SZA the new Mary is basically opening the door for trolls and die-hard MBJ fans to lash out and cause the “Kill Bill” singer to catch strays when she was just minding her own business and being great.
Still, it’s also arguable that Jess was being a little harsh when she called Charlamagne and Envy “trash” just for making the comparison. Perhaps her hostility towards the two Breakfast Club hosts has something to do with whatever happened with her joining the team.
From Hip Hop DX:
In late December, the former Wild N’Out star announced that she would be replacing Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club after more than a year of the morning show being just a two-man operation.
“It’s official,” she said during an event in her hometown. “I’ma put the fuck on for my city. Specifically, West Baltimore.”
However, these plans seem to have fallen apart.
Just last week, Charlamagne Tha God said he was “not happy” about the confusion surrounding the show, which has been without a third host since Yee departed in December 2022 to front her own syndicated program.
The Breakfast Club has had a number of rotating guest hosts including Claudia Jordan, Jess Hilarious, Jason Lee, and Loren LoRosa over the last year and a half, but they have yet to announce a permanent replacement.
When asked by TMZ about the situation, CTG said: “I would really like to know. I just came from downstairs. It was just me and Envy doing the show again.
“Everybody saw us rotating guest hosts last year and we said we were gonna start 2024 off with a new host and that hasn’t happened yet.”
He added: “I am done with the rotating of the guest hosts.”
Welp, now that Jess Hillarious has fired off on the show’s only two current hosts, chances of her ever becoming a Breakfast Club host—if it’s even something she wants anymore—have likely gone from slim to nill.
So, what do y’all think? Is Jess right about the comparison of SZA to Mary, or did Envy and The God have a fair point? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Charlamagne Tha God and Drake have a rather complicated history.
One minute they criticize each other, the next minute they’re popping bottles in the club, and then they’re once again engaged in some back-and-forth foolery. Most recently Drake popped off an insult at Charlamagne when he called him “a f*cking goof” after Charlamagne said that Drizzy’s collaboration track with SZA was basically a dud out on these streets.
During a recent interview with Elliott Wilson and Brian “B. Dot” Miller on their Rap Radar podcast, Charlamagne reflected on his tumultuous past with Drake and how it got to this point. From criticizing the man’s work early in his career to continuing to throw a jab or two in 2023 (the man said Drake was basically his own sexual orientation), Charlamagne was open and honest about his role in this weird and unnecessary “beef” between the two of them.
“Everything I said about the music, early on, was true. I always felt like that about the music. I’m like ‘yo, why try to be the next Chris Brown or Miguel when you could be the next Jay-Z?’ I always felt like he was that good of a rapper.”
Well, at least he felt Drizzy had Jigga potential when he was critiquing his music. Still, that’s something that Drake didn’t seem to appreciate as it led to some on-sight-ish kind of energy from Drizzy’s side according to Charlamagne.
“I mean, he didn’t find it funny. There’s plenty of times people come back and be like, ‘Yeah, Drake and his team was just here looking for you.’”
While one would think that Drake probably just wanted to put the fear of God into Tha God with his team behind him, Charlamagne later learned it was probably a bit more serious than that when he revealed another incident that went down while he was at an iHeart event.
“I met these security guards one time — this was at an iHeart music festival in Vegas — and these m*thaf*ckas looked like killers. They were big super-goons. They were with G-Eazy at the time. And they was like, ‘Yo man, you know how many times we was told, if we see you, [to fight you] on sight? Don’t even ask no questions, just handle it?’ I’m like, ‘Really?’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah, we used to do security for Drake.’”
Daaaaamn, Drake?! Like that?! Does that man know how many heads be talking ish about him? He gonna sick his security team on half the hood? Luckily, Charlamagne never got a universal from anyone that was down with the King of the North, but he might want to tread lightly when talking sideways about the 6 Gawd going forward because apparently it’s that real.
Check out Charlamagne speak on Drake around the 39:45 minute mark, and let us know your thoughts on the situation in the comments section.
