Madonna is ending her critically-acclaimed Celebration World Tour in Brazil this weekend, with a one-night-only concert dubbed the “Celebration in Rio” show.

Taking place live at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the concert will be broadcast locally on Brazilian TV but there are ways to watch Madonna’s Rio concert online outside of Brazil as well (sort of scoring a travel deal to go watch Madge in person).

This is the last stop on Madonna’s Celebration Tour, which is projected to rake in more than $225 million when all is said and done. The tour kicked off in London in October, before winding its way through Canada, the U.S., and Mexico City.

Madonna made a faux pas at a recent Celebration Tour stop near L.A. During her show at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Thursday (March 9), the Queen of Pop accidentally called out a fan in a wheelchair for sitting during her performance. “What are you doing sitting down over there? What are you […]

Madonna is facing a federal class action lawsuit because she allegedly started three New York City concerts later than scheduled, a delay that her accusers say caused real legal harm to ticket buyers who “had to get up early to go to work” the next day.
In a complaint filed Wednesday (Jan. 17) in Brooklyn federal court, ticket buyers Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden claim the Material Girl breached her contract with concertgoers and violated New York state laws by starting three December shows past 10:30 rather than the scheduled 8:30.

“Defendants’ actions constitute not just a breach of their contracts … but also a wanton exercise in false advertising, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices,” attorneys for the two men write.

The three concerts at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, stops on Madonna’s Celebration Tour, were originally scheduled for July but rescheduled to December due to the singer’s illness. Fellows and Hadden say they expected their show (Dec. 13) to start on time, and “would not have paid for their tickets had they known that the concerts would start after 10:30 p.m.”

“Defendants failed to provide any notice to the ticketholders that the concerts would start much later than the start time printed on the ticket and as advertised,” attorneys for the two men write.

Leaving Barclays Center after 1:00 a.m., the two men say ticket buyers were “left stranded in the middle of the night,” some “confronted with limited public transportation” options and others with increased prices for ride-share services. They also point out that the concert took place “on a weeknight,” meaning they “had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day.”

In addition to Madonna herself, the lawsuit also names Live Nation and Barclays Center as defendants. In technical terms, the complaint alleges breach of contract; violation of New York’s business practices and false advertising laws; and several other forms of wrongdoing, including unjust enrichment.

The lawsuit also includes a claim of so-called negligent misrepresentation, saying the concert organizers “knew or should have known” that the concerts would not start at 8:30 because of alleged past instances of Madonna taking the stage late — and should have warned fans.

“Madonna has a long history of arriving and starting her concerts late, sometimes several hours late,” attorneys for Fellows and Hadden write. “This history occurred throughout her 2016 Rebel Heart Tour, her 2019-2020 Madame X Tour, and prior tours, where Madonna continuously started her concerts over two hours late.”

Reps for Madonna and Live Nation did not immediately return requests for comment.

When you’re Madonna, nothing stops a celebration. After spending several days in the ICU battling a “serious bacterial infection,” Madonna was unfortunately forced to pause her career-spanning Celebration Tour. On Tuesday (Aug. 15), Live Nation announced a slew of rescheduled dates for the North American leg of the Queen of Pop’s tour.
Commemorating four decades of hit singles and pop culture-dominating albums, the North American leg of The Celebration Tour was originally scheduled to kick off on July 15 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver and conclude on Oct. 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with additional stops in Phoenix, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal and Atlanta in the interim. Madge was then set to head over to Europe and then back to North America for more dates.

The Celebration Tour will now officially kick off with four sold-out shows in London beginning Oct. 14, followed by shows across Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands throughout the remainder of 2023. The North American leg will commence on Dec. 13 in Brooklyn at Barclays Center, followed by shows in Boston, Seattle, Chicago, Las Vegas, Atlanta and Los Angeles. Due to scheduling conflicts, a number of previously announced shows have been canceled, including Tulsa (July 27), Nashville (Dec. 22), San Francisco (Jan. 15), Las Vegas (Jan. 18) and Phoenix (Jan. 20).

Mere weeks after Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed a law restricting drag shows in Tennessee, Madonna announced plans to perform in Nashville with Bob The Drag Queen opening.

“The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it’s creating an unsafe environment; it makes America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color,” she said. “Also, these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to f–k with a drag queen. Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the queer community.” (There is currently no word on a rescheduled Nashville date.)

“A trip to my archives is always a nostalgic trip down memory lane,” she wrote alongside a series of photos with some of her most iconic throwback pieces of clothing. “If I think about my journey through music over the last 4 decades— how could I not think about all the incredible clothes I got to wear and all the amazing designers I was lucky enough to work with!!”

The slideshow features a number of Jean Paul Gaultier-designed cone bras that Madge famously wore throughout her 1990 Blonde Ambition tour. “When I was a little girl I remember my mother was always cold. Partly because she was sick but also because she never had a coat,” Madonna continued her message. “She always spent what little money we had on our coats and I remember standing outside waiting for the schoolbus With my mother shivering in the cold in the middle of winter!! Years later when I became successful my mother’s sister said to me, ‘Now You can buy all the coats your mother couldn’t buy for herself!’”

The “Vogue” singer continued, “The journey from the memory of my shivering mother in Winter to me shivering in the over air-conditioned storage space where all my costumes are stored is quite remarkable! I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Every time I put on an incredible coat I think of my Mother. I hope she likes my taste in costumes but most of all i hope she’s warm!”

Madonna is less than three months away from kicking of her Celebration Tour, honoring her four decades of hits, on July 15 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
