Ice Cube is considered one of the early leaders of the so-called “Gangsta Rap” phenomenon, so any opinion he offers on the subject is valid. Recently, Candace Owens posited a theory that the Hip-Hop music offshoot was created by the “Feds” but Ice Cube swiftly corrected the conservative pundit.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Candace Owens had this to say about Gangsta Rap:
Gangster rap was never black culture. It was created by the Feds, who proferred deals to homosexual black men in prison and then turned them into artificial celebrities. The goal was to create false idols to destroy black American values.
I will never change my mind on this.
When someone tossed a question in the direction of Ice Cube regarding Owens’ comments, the former N.W.A. band member offered a history lesson from a vantage point he actually experienced in the late 1980s.
“We called it Reality Rap the industry coined it Gangsta Rap. The fans wanted gangsta rap and that’s what they got. The Feds didn’t write none of my sh*t. I’m a real MC,” Cube said to the Twitter user in this quoted reply.
On X, another user shared an excellent quote from N.W.A. member MC Ren about how the term Gangsta Rap grew legs and that it was not by the design of the rappers who performed the music. The thread can be found here.

Candace Owens shared that her YouTube channel has been suspended due to antisemitic comments made by Ye aka Kanye West last month.
On Monday (September 9), conservative media personality Candace Owens shared that YouTube shut down her channel for seven days. She stated that an appearance by Ye aka Kanye West on her show in August was the reason for it. “There will be no show today, or at all this week. That’s because @YouTube has issued me a strike and a one-week suspension for my sit-down with Kanye. They also removed the interview as “hate speech”, as it was mass reported by Zionists. Their tactics never change,” she wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter. She also shared screenshots of the messages she received from YouTube.
https://twitter.com/RealCandaceO/status/1833550415171932214
The comment in question was Ye claiming that Jewish people control the media.” Owens felt that a recent discussion that she had with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach on Piers Morgan’s show led to the suspension and demonetization of her channel. The channel currently has 2.4 million followers. “The world knows why I am being targeted and frankly, I have never felt more confident that I am the right person for this to happen,” she added in another post on X.
“Thus far, I have had zero strikes on my @YouTubeCreators account,” she said, continuing: “I have now been inundated with 3 back-to-back content hits within minutes, plus an email that I am now fully demonetized. We all know exactly who is behind this and why.” The suspension is a blow to Owens, who was fired by The Daily Wire after a public feud with co-founder Ben Shapiro over Israel and antisemitism.
A spokesperson for YouTube confirmed the suspension to the New York Post. “We’ve suspended channels associated with Candace Owens from the YouTube Partner Program following repeated violations of our policies, including our Advertiser-Friendly Guidelines and Community Guidelines,” Jack Malon said in a statement. The statement went on to say that she would no longer be able to make money from the platform, but creators would be able to reapply in 90 days.

The devil works hard, but Candace Owens constantly works harder to remind us she is the ultimate OP. Like the rest of us, Cardi B is tired of her coontastic shenanigans.
Cardi B had time for Candace Owens after the edgeless conservative fixed her lips to talk about Sonya Massey’s tragic death at the hands of the police.
Candace Owens claims that the senseless shooting was not racially motivated, urging Black people not to fall for the bait. In her recent Spaces Chat on X, formerly Twitter, Wednesday (July 24), Cardi B called her out on her bullsh*t.
Cardi B Calls Out Candace Owens For Her Lack of Sympathy
“Today she said something so disturbing about the Sonya Massey case. For you to sit here and say that ‘Oh not everything is racial. I know that this is sad, but this is not something racial. There’s more white people that get killed by the cops,’ girl shut up,” Cardi B said.
She continued, “You don’t feel one little bit of empathy, a little bit of sympathy of how this woman died? There was no argument, there was no conflict, there was no raised voice, and she got shot.”
The Bronx Hip-Hop star’s comments were a direct reply to Owens ridiculously saying, “Police officers are human beings, there are mistakes that happen. The idea that now you’re going to use this situation to then try to make Black Americans believe that this happened simply because she was Black is pointedly ridiculous.”
Owens also tells Black Americans to “not take the bait,” adding that unarmed white Americans are more likely to be killed by police than Black Americans.
What?
Cardi B Reminds Candace Owens She Is A Black Woman
Cardi B called C A P on that notion, saying that Massey’s killer, Deputy Sean Grayson, could most definitely still be racist even if he never said a racial slur.
“He knew in the back of his head because she was a Black woman that he was going to get away with it,” the “Bodak Yellow” crafter continued. “Not only did he think that, but the department thought that because they didn’t tell her son or her father that a cop shot her. It had everything to do with the fact it was because she was Black. So nobody has to say a racial slur for you to know that it was racially motivated.”
Cardi B also hit Owens with a stark reminder that she is a Black woman and that what happened to Sonya Massey could also happen to her.
“This could be you one day. And it could be actually worse because you the type of person that if a cop stop you, you would get sassy at the mouth. As soon as you get sassy at the mouth, the muthaf**ka would shoot your a**,” the Grammy-award-winning artist said.
The BX native also shot down Owens’ claims that President Biden’s statement on the shooting was politically motivated.
“What happened to her has nothing to do with this f**king election. It has everything to do with the sh*t that’s been happening for years in this country,” Cardi said. “There is no justification. It was just straight kill. And America has to see that so people can understand why [there is] outrage with cops.”

Candace Owens is firing back at Eminem after the Detroit legend dissed her on his new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).
On the track “Lucifer,” the 51-year-old rapper takes aim at the conservative pundit, spewing the lines, “And Candice O, I ain’t mad at her/ I ain’t gon’ throw the fact b—- forgot she was Black back at her/ Laugh at her, like them crackers she’s backin’ after.”
Em also refers to Owens, 35, as a “MAGA dirtbag in a skirt” and drops such nicknames for her as “Grand Wizard,” “Klandace” and “Grand Dragon,” before scheming to plans to “get in her pants.”

Elsewhere on The Death of Slim Shady, the 15-time Grammy winner bashes Owens — a supporter of Donald Trump and a critic of Black Lives Matter — once again on the song “Bad One,” where he raps that “she turned her back on her own race.”
Shortly after the album dropped on Friday (July 12), Owens addressed the disses on her YouTube channel in an eight-minute diatribe, calling Eminem a “lefty elitist” who is “cosplaying a race that you aren’t.”
Trending on Billboard
“You’re so irrelevant, your music isn’t good anymore,” she added, dubbing Em “granddad Shady.” “He is a lesson to a lot of people out there that you need to know when it’s time for you to retire.”
This isn’t the first time Eminem and Owens have clashed. In August 2023, she criticized the rapper’s age and speculated about his sexuality after he sent a cease-and-desist letter to then-Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy for using his music while campaigning.
“Some people also say that when we get older we get grayer. We know that’s true,” Owens said in a video on her YouTube channel. “But for Eminem, the once hardcore rapper, it seems that he is getting older and gayer. Yes, Eminem might be gay.”
The Death of Slim Shady boasts 19 tracks and includes previously released singles “Houdini” and “Tobey,” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron, along with a sequel to 1999’s “Guilty Conscience” with Dr. Dre. Eminem peppered collabs throughout the project with special guest appearances from Jelly Roll, J.I.D, Skylar Grey, Bizarre, Ez Mil, and more.
The new LP marks Em’s first album since 2020’s Music to Be Murdered By as he seeks a 10th consecutive chart-topper on the Billboard 200.

As Rasheed Wallace reportedly said, even the sun shines on a dog’s ass twice a day and Candace Owens is a perfect example of that phrase. Candace Owens was a recent guest on the Piers Morgan Uncensored show and in their discussion, the conservative pundit checked the host on the nature of the Israel-Hamas and the media’s reluctance to refer to the happenings as genocide.
Candace Owens, 35, sat down with Piers Morgan, 59, and the tense discussion surrounding the Isreal-Hamas war turned towards Owens making note of the fact that journalists are seemingly fearful of critiquing Israel’s actions. At one point, Owens included Morgan in that group.
“You too, Piers, seem a little fearful to critique Isreal and coming off as trying to be a little understanding of everything,” Owens said. Morgan, perhaps anticipating this, dodged the assertion. For her part, Owens clearly articulated what the word genocide means and did manage to get Morgan to throw a very soft jab at Israel’s PM, Benjamin Netanyahu.
The 90-minute conversation between Morgan and Owens touched on her leaving The Daily Wire, her political positions, her connection with Ye FKA Kanye West, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and much more.
Check out the clip in question below and keep scrolling to see reactions to the Israel-Hamas segment. Also, let’s be clear, we’re not on her side about much of anything. On this point, however, she called it straight and that’s all we’re noting.

Cardi B showed and proved that she’s a defender of the “real beaters” and “real bean flickers” massive and crew after taking to social media to defend the use of pornography. This comes as Candace Owens is on a public crusade to ban pornography and it appears that Owens has a lot of supporters according to what we witnessed on X.
On May 21, Candace Owens took to X and shared a tweet shooting down the usage of porn, claiming its use is deliberately weakening men.
“Ban pornography. It is a psychological weapon intended to weaken our men,” the political pundit wrote with several other users agreeing with her stance while others pushed back. As seen online, Cardi B caught wind of the tweet after it was posted on an Instagram account and replied under the post with a strong defense of the genre.
“Ommmggg why yall so against porn ? Is it that bad for yall ? I enjoy it but I don’t know I guess is like a 6 time a year thing. I personally don’t feel no connection or addiction to it just a little quick one two … NOTHING LIKE REAL INTIMACY!” read Cardi B’s response.
After someone challenged her stance, Cardi wrote, “How? It actually should teach men how to please a woman.”
On X, formerly Twitter, news of the exchange went wide and some folks are questioning Cardi B and essentially adopting the stance of Owens.
It should go without saying that pornography is for adult consumption and that like any other form of media, there should be some limits to what one exposes themselves too. Too much of anything can become an issue and Cardi clearly said it’s not a 24-7 thing but that part was skipped because people like to be emotional and loud online these days.
We’ve got replies with folks alarmingly siding with Candace Owens and unnecessarily name-calling Cardi B below.

Candace Owen’s relationship with The Daily Wire is over, and now X users are connecting the dots and feel she is using Black Press to get back in our good graces.
Per the Daily Mail, edgeless conservative Candace Owens and The Daily Wire are done. Per the website’s reporting, her exit comes after clashing with the company’s co-founder, Ben Shapiro, over the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Co-founder and CEO Jeremy Boreing announced the split with Owens in a post on X, formerly Twitter, simply writing, “Daily Wire and Candace Owens have ended their relationship.”
Owens confirmed her exit by responding, “The rumors are true— I am finally free,” in a post on her X account that also hilariously points her followers to a webpage to “support her work” or “give her a gift.”
The grift never ends with these people.
X Users See The Jig With Candace Owens
Anyway, the news of Owen’s exit from The Daily Wire, which was the home of her now-defunct talk show Candace, Owens has been making her rounds on more traditional Black outlets in what many have been calling a “rebrand.”
Owens has sat down with Joe Budden for a one-on-one interview, much to the chagrin of social media who feel people like Budden lack the skills to sit across from a person like Candace Owens, who has the propensity to push narratives that require pushback and extreme amounts of fact-checking.
Just recently, The Breakfast Club, for whatever reason, brought Owens on their show to spew her nonsense, and yes, like Budden, many feel the Power 105.1 morning show crew lacks the interviewing skills to handle her.
Also, now there are many clips of Owens landing on timelines where people agree with her outrageous talking points.
We here at HipHopWired are not buying what Candace Owens is selling.
In the gallery below, you can see more reactions to Candace Owens trying to rebrand herself.
1. Not here, not ever.
2. Exactly, stay over there Candace
3. Way too much

Candace Owens was trending on the X social media platform after making a statement aimed at the wife of the president of France. The controversial conservative pundit said that she would bet her career on the wife of President Emmanuel Macron being a man.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday (March 12), Candace Owens took shots at Brigette Macron, 70, the wife of President Macron, 46, who has been the target of a conspiracy that suggests Mrs. Macron is not a woman.
“After looking into this, I would stake my entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man,” Owens shared on X. “Any journalist or publication that is trying to dismiss this plausibility is immediately identifiable as establishment. I have never seen anything like this in my life. The implications here are terrifying.”
As seen in Daily Mail, the claims around Mrs. Macron date back to 2021 when two women, a psychic and a freelance journalist, made the charge in a documentary. The outlet adds that the root of the rumor came from a false claim issued by Faits et Documents, a far-right publication just after President Macron was elected.
On Monday (March 11), Owens delved into the conspiracy at length on her podcast which was no doubt inspired by comments made by Tiphaine Auzière, the daughter of Mrs. Macron and President Macron’s stepdaughter.
Auzière spoke with the Paris Match outlet to discuss the claims that her mother was born male. Adding to this, Auzière shared that she was just 10 years old to learn that her mother was involved with a student who was 25 years her junior.
Owens added at the end of her Tuesday tweet that she doesn’t intend to stop investigating the angle and called on other journalists to do the same.
On X, Candace Owens and her comments caused some commotion. We’ve got the reactions below.

“I never had dinner with the president!” – Ice Cube (“No Vaseline”)
O’Shea Jackson’s jab at Eric Wright on the scathing diss track aimed at his former N.W.A family carried significant weight in 1991. At the time, the president represented the power that was oppressive to the Hip-Hop community. A group like N.W.A didn’t participate in a lunch benefiting the Republican Senatorial inner circle, which was hosted by then-President George H. W. Bush. And the idea that Eazy-E did just that painted him out to be a traitor to the community.
[embedded content]
We fought the power for change in our community, we didn’t fraternize with the power in an attempt to join their fraternity. And any individual in the Hip-Hop community who didn’t adhere to these unwritten laws was subject to being publicly tarred and feathered. No questions asked.
Fast forward to 2024 and, as The Notorious B.I.G. once said “Things Done Changed.”
The power that we were up against in the 80s and 90s has changed shape over the years. It’s a little more complicated to figure out who “The Power” is now when the economics and landscape have been modified, altered and remodeled. In some ways it has changed for the better but, as they always say—the more things change, the more they stay the same.
“Sharing our platforms and our audiences with individuals who have spent the majority of their careers in the spotlight disparaging the very communities we come from is a dangerous proposition.”
