Diddy’s trial started on Monday, May 12th, and we’re breaking down what’s happened in the first two days of the trial, including his charges, opening statements, Cassie taking the stand and more.
What do you think of Diddy’s trial so far? Let us know in the comments.
Tetris Kelly:
All right, guys, so this is not a fun one, but the Diddy trial kicked off, and I’m, for one, in shock that they decided that the defense’s argument was gonna be, yeah, there was domestic violence, but not sex trafficking. Like what?
Judy Sanchez:
It’s a lot to take in. Like, racketeering is a very serious charge, but so is domestic violence. So to sort of brush that under the rug, and especially with Cassie knowing that she’s taking the stand pregnant, I don’t know, the optics are very intense. You know, it was, it was a lot of intense, graphic news coming from the Diddy trial this morning.
Tetris Kelly:
I mean, it’s so interesting that you phrase it that way, because I think sex trafficking, racketeering, it’s like, and there’s been all this evidence that’s been in the media, what would your argument be to defend Diddy at this point?
Stefanie Tanaka:
Yeah. I mean, I’m not sure there’s much. He’s gonna try to save his a–, I’m sure. But, you know, I don’t know how you can, I mean, your crimes are bad enough. I don’t know if there’s much. I mean, the lawyers are gonna do their jobs because they’re lawyers, but I don’t know, like, if there’s any way he could really get out of it. I mean, they’re pretty serious. All the allegations we’ve heard, the video evidence with Cassie in the hotel.

Damiano David is releasing his debut solo album ‘FUNNY little FEARS’ this Friday, May 16th, and the Italian singer shares why he transitioned from a band to going solo, songwriting with his girlfriend Dove Cameron, working with Labrinth on “Silverlines,” going on tour and more!
Are you excited for ‘FUNNY little FEARS?’ Let us know in the comments below!
Rania Aniftos:
Hey everybody, it’s Rania Aniftos with Billboard News, and I’m so excited to be here today with Damiano David, welcome!
Damiano David:
Hello.
What an exciting time for you. I mean, you’re gearing up for your next musical era. You’ve released three singles so far: “Next Summer,” “Born With a Broken Heart” and “Silverlines.” So tell me a bit about how you’re choosing to release these singles to kind of introduce this musical era for you.
For me, it’s literally all about, like, instinct and feelings. These were the first three songs I wrote for the record. And so it’s kind of funny that they are actually the singles, but I didn’t know at the beginning, but I always felt like the songs were strong, and since the beginning, I knew they were going to be part of the record. And again, there’s not much strategy around it. It’s literally like a feeling. I like this. I released it.
I mean, I love that. That’s the way to go, because it keeps it fun for you too, and it keeps it authentic. And speaking of authentic, each of these three singles, while they are different in a lot of ways, they still sound like you, but you’re clearly exploring what was that like, getting in the studio and working out different sounds and kind of introducing Damiano to people.
That was very fun. It was a new practice for me because I was used to kind of knowing the sound that we wanted with the band…

We caught up with KATSEYE at Wango Tango and they shared their reaction to the public’s response to “GNARLY,” teasing new music coming soon, handling fame and more.
What do you think of “GNARLY”? Let us know in the comments!
Tetris Kelly:
Hanging out with KATSEYE at Wango Tango. How are you doing, ladies?
KATSEYE:
I’m good!
All right, you know what I gotta start talking about right now: “GNARLY.” I mean, you guys, I feel like you did something. You got the Internet a little bit shook right now. So how was it to put the song out and see everything that happened once it was out in the world?
It was definitely a gag for everybody. And this is like what we felt the moment that we first heard the song. So we were so happy when we saw everybody’s reactions, especially after our first performance. We just got back from Korea doing all this promotion. So we’re excited because today is our first performance here in the U.S. So we’re here to gag.
Yeah, no. And, I mean, that’s what it did. Because I love seeing people, like, watch the performance and be like, Oh, the girls that get it, clearly get it, you know what I mean? So how was it just like, get the choreography and see that that was what changed everybody’s opinion about the song.
I mean, it looks amazing.
She’s like the choreography is good. She’s like gang, gang, gang.
No, literally, like we’re shaking ass. We’re having fun. And I feel like the crowd really, like, just saw us being confident and selling it. And so we’re just super excited. And we 100% stand behind the song. We love it, and we mostly love performing it. So we’re really excited.

Meghan Trainor:
I love it. I’ve seen it 100 times.
At first I didn’t get it, and then I got it.
The ones that get it, get it. That’s how I get it.
Work with KATSEYE. I feel like that is two of my faves together. That’s something we should make happen.
Yeah, except like, how do I perform next to them yo? They’re the best dancers I’ve ever seen.
You got the moves. I think you can keep up.
Hi, I love you.
I love you, too. Speaking of collaborations-
Do you like the dress?
The dress looks amazing. I love the pink. Bringing it to Wango Tango. New song, Mimi Webb.
Do you like it?
I do love it. Tell me about the song and how it was to work with her.
She’s on my label, and so they called me and were like, would you ever work with Mimi Webb? And I was like, I love Mimi Webb. The biggest Mimi Webb fan there is, is my husband, Daryl [Sabara]. So he was like, “Please work with her.” And then we met, we fell in love. And then I wrote this chorus the night before because I wanted Daryl to be able to read my mind.

Jackson, Tetris with Billboard News ready to get in conversation with Jackson Wang, what’s up man? Thanks for coming.
Jackson Wang:
Hey, thank you for having me.
Of course, you got a lot going on, my friend. So we’re gonna start with the music. Of course. MAGIC MAN 2 you’ve been teasing. You’ve been telling everybody about it, but MAGIC MAN, the first one, debuted at 15 on our Billboard 200 charts.
Thank you. Thank you. Please make me top five.
There you go. See he’s already said what he wants. What made you decide you want to follow up the 2022 project with a second version of MAGIC MAN?
I’ve been working on stop for over 11 years, and I was just like, hey, I need to recharge. I need to refresh and be inspired again. So I took a year off, and I was like, hey, you know what? I haven’t actually made a song for myself. You know, when I was in my youth, I’ve always, you know, wrote songs or produced songs, trying to show everyone, hey, I can do this, I can dance, I can sing, I can perform. But what about me? What do I want to say as a person? So I took that year off and I just started writing diaries and converted them into music.
What was something during that year that you felt like when you look back like you’re like, I’m so happy I took this year off because I had this moment.

Lainey Wilson, Reba McEntire & Miranda Lambert sit down ahead of the ACM’s and share how they came together to create their new collab, “Trailblazer.” They share how Brandy Clark, Dolly Parton and more influenced the song, producing and recording together and more!
Are you excited for “Trailblazer?” Let us know in the comments!
Melinda Newman:
I wanna start by just asking how the song came together.
Miranda Lambert:
The first conversation was an idea that we could write a song for all of us to sing together, right?
And you brought up Brandy because we all love her so much.
Reba McEntire:
Love Brandy Clark.
Miranda Lambert:
Yes.
Reba McEntire:
Her writing, her singing, everything about her.
Miranda Lambert:
Yeah, so we went to my back porch and-
Lainey Wilson:
Yeah, we were like, okay, we’re gonna get to do a song with Reba. So what kind of song do you think that like, what do we write, you know?
Miranda Lambert:
And she was on set, so we were calling her and trying to FaceTime and figure out, like, what’s the right message for this, this trio, like, what do we really want to say in a three minute song? Because it felt really important to all of us, I think.
Reba McEntire:
And I had texted with Brandy the day before, giving her some ideas, and then when I finally got to hear it, I was ecstatic. Thrilled to pieces, and Brandy said that was the fastest she’s ever written a song because they gelled so well together.
Lainey Wilson:
We were just having a conversation about how both of y’all have influenced me, and how it’s just it’s kind of like passing the torch and blazing trails for each other. And so it’s just like, you know, generation after generation it’s going to continue. Well, we got to keep blazing those trails for the next ones.
