We are partnering with TalkShopLive all week long and yesterday we had Garth Brooks live from Nashville during the segment a fan asked the country superstar if he could elaborate on his cameo in the upcoming ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ sequel featuring Paul McCartney and Elton John and he had this to say,

“No. Can’t say anything about it. It’s not my deal. If it was my deal, I’d spill my guts but it’s not so they swear you to secrecy into silence. I will tell you this. I will tell you this though. If you think you have laughed before, Jiminy Christmas, first of all, I was loved with ‘Spinal Tap’ in love with the original movie, the fact that it’s coming back. It’s just, it’s going to be neat to get to be a part of this because it’s history, man.”

Happy Monday, y’all. It’s December 4th, and I’m finally back from Asia. I’m so excited to be bringing you the news again so let’s get right into our top story. Taylor Swift continues to make history on our charts, this time, it’s the Billboard 200.

Taylor Swift is the queen of the Billboard 200 Albums chart dated December 9th. She has a staggering five albums in the Top 10. ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ reclaims the top spot with ‘Midnights’ landing in third, ‘Folklore’ grabs No. 5, ‘Lover’ takes six and ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ re-enters at No. 10. Taylor is the only living artists with at least 5 titles in the Top 10 at the same time in the past 60 years. The only other act to hold at least 5 of the Top 10 at the same time was Prince on the May 14th, 2016 dated list following his death.

And while Taylor is topping the Billboard 200, we’ve got a new queen of the Hot 100 and it’s taken her a long time to get her top spot.

I’m gonna have to ask you this question, it’s not… I didn’t prepare it. What’s your favorite dish at Waffle House? How about that? How about that?

Oh my God! Ok, I haven’t had it in a minute, but bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.

I get the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on Texas toast because I’m from Texas, of course. And then the side of hashbrowns and that’s all it takes to get to my little heart.

Tetris Kelly:
What was your dream job as a kid?

Ally Brooke:
To be a singer.

Tetris Kelly:
Oh, well look at you accomplishing your dreams. Who was your childhood crush?

Actually, Josh Groban.

You got a lot to talk about your magnum opus. You released this album Black Mona Lisa.

Billy Porter:
Yeah.

Tetris Kelly:
Why did you refer to it as that and how was this project different?

Billy Porter:
You know, we were writing. I was in the writing process with Justin Tranter and his team, and you know, we probably ’bout six, eight months into the process — we had written a bunch of other stuff, and the themes and the tone were forming. I don’t remember where “Black Mona Lisa” came from, I just kind of say, it kind of fell out of the sky. And everybody in the room was like …

Tetris Kelly:
That works.

Billy Porter:
Did that just happen? Like there was like a, you know, like, time stood still for about a good 20 seconds, and then like, maybe even 30. And then 20 minutes later, the song was written. It’s referencing the original Mona Lisa. And that painting is relevant, always — past, present and future. And that’s my goal with my legacy.

Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock has been ordered to pay Kelly back $2.6 million. Kelly Clarkson has won a legal ruling that her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock owes her more than 2.6 million in commissions she paid to him for procuring business deals while he served as her manager. California’s labor commissioner ruled that Kelly’s ex procured several deals for Kelly that should have been handled by her talent agents at CAA, violating a California law that bans anyone other than licensed talent agents for procuring work for artists. Brandon must pay back commissions earned on four deals: over $1.9 million for Kelly’s role on The Voice, just north of $280,000 to promote Norwegian Cruise Lines, $450,000 to promote Wayfair, and $93 to host the Billboard Music Awards in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Kelly filed for divorce from Brandon in June 2020. The case was finalized in 2022, with the singer agreeing to pay $45,000 a month in child support for their two children plus a one-time payment of just over $1.3 million. Attorneys for both sides did not immediately return requests for comment.

Cher’s “DJ Play a Christmas Song” scores the singer a No. 1 on a Billboard chart in seven consecutive decades. Dang, that’s impressive. For seven straight decades, Cher has earned a new No. 1 on a Billboard songs chart. “DJ Play a Christmas Song” off the diva’s first holiday album ‘Christmas’ jingles up from No. 3 to No. 1 on the December 2nd-dated Dance Electronic Song Sales survey. Can we pause for a second? I can’t believe this is Cher’s first holiday album. Aren’t those like a rite of passage? The living legend now joins the only other acts, The Rolling Stones, to have at least one new No. 1 on a Billboard songs chart in each of the seven decades from the 1960s through the 2020s.

Mariah Carey Breaks Through to the Top 3 of TikTok Billboard Top 50 Chart | Billboard News

Mitski’s ‘My Love Mine All Mine’ remains at No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50, while Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ comes close to the top, and more!

Mitski’s “My Love Mine All Mine” continues its reign at No. 1, while Mariah Carey’s Christmas classic breaks into the top three.

Mitski’s “My Love Mine All Mine” rules for a sixth week on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart posted Nov. 30. The song extends its standing as the longest running No. 1 since the chart’s inception in September. Lil Mabu and Chrisean Rock’s “Mr. Take Your B-tch” stays in the No. 2 spot for a third straight week, while Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” rises two spots to No. 3 as the holiday season is in full swing. Mariah also performed the song during the 2023 Billboard Music Awards.

Darell’s “Lollipop” comes in at No. 4, a new peak for the song thanks to dance challenges with Darell himself getting in on the action. And rounding out the top five is JID’s “Surround Sound” featuring 21 Savage and Baby Tate, thanks to another dance trend making the rounds on the app.

Ally Brooke Talks Possible Fifth Harmony Reunion, ‘Under the Tree’ EP & More | Billboard News

Singer Ally Brooke stopped by Billboard News and opened up about a potential Fifth Harmony reunion, her return to pop music, creating her new holiday EP Under the Tree and more!

Ally Brooke:
I’ve just learned to really own who I am and be unapologetic and just be free, that’s what it is, just to be free.

Hey, it’s Tetris with Billboard News, and look who I got hanging out with me today! Ally Brooke. What’s up, girl?

Your return to pop. You said, “You need a banger? Well, I’m gonna give it to ya.” “Gone to Bed,” tell me about the single.

I love it so much. So it’s basically about two lovers. You want to see your lover but you don’t, and you end up seeing that person and you’re like, “Man, I really should have just gone to bed.”

Tetris Kelly:
It’s like pop, it’s very in-your-face pop, but you dabbled in a lot of things from Latin to EDM. So what made you decide on this sound for this project?

Ally Brooke:
Well, I was going to the Latin route and I loved it, but I felt like I really wanted to go back to who I truly was, you know, the pop artist that I am. I have recently reconnected with my former A&R from the Fifth Harmony days, named Joey Arbagey. He’s amazing; he’s responsible for all the hits. We recently reconnected. He played “Gone to Bed” and I completely fell in love. I was like, “That’s my record.”

Tetris Kelly:
And the fact that you’ve worked with him for so long. So how has that been, to be at a new label, but also have somebody that knows you really well?

Ally Brooke:
We made, you know, history together. So to have that and to have like a fresh perspective now and being in 2023 is really amazing. I’m kind of bringing that old energy but bringing the new energy too.
