Alison Wonderland Opens Up About Her Recent Miscarriage: ‘When I’m Ready, I’ll Tell My Story’

This past January, Alison Wonderland tweeted an earnest request:

“Since cancelling 3 shows in December I have been getting constant s–t from Twitter, Instagram and Tiktok about it and it somehow isn’t dying down. I just want to let everyone know that I had to leave Asia for emergency surgery and then the week after I had a fever of 102 + for 4 days straight and couldn’t leave my bed.

“One day I will explain why I needed surgery,” she continued, “but right now I have not even processed it myself. I am asking nicely for all you ‘plur’ ravers to just be a bit more understanding- what I am dealing with in my private life right now is painful enough and I just want to concentrate on healing and music . Love u all.”

Nearly a year later, the producer sat down with Billboard News to talk about what she was going through during that time.

Speaking in mid-October, just weeks before she gave birth to her second son, Wonderland revealed that she experienced a miscarriage in December of 2024 that forced the cancellation of said shows. She says the online backlash she subsequently received “was so horrible, to have people so unsupportive and rude. And I had said ‘Look, I’m going through a lot. It’s surgery; it’s medical; it’s an emergency, please respect my privacy.’ And to this day I’m getting bombarded about the fact that I had to cancel shows at the end of last year. But I hope that you see this, and I hope you know it’s because I had a miscarriage … That sucked, because I did not feel like a person and I just didn’t want to have to tell everyone that. I wasn’t ready to. I don’t owe them that.”

Wonderland also reveals that this was her fourth miscarriage, with these experiences inspiring her June single “Again? F–k.”

“I was so messed up,” she says of writing the track. “I was like, ‘The only way I can get through this is writing a song with a sense of humor and like, kind of being aggressive about it, because it’s like, ‘How do I move forward?’” she also revealed that “I Want to Live in a Dream” is about “trying to escape that feeling of reality” which she felt due to the miscarriage but which she’s found is something many people around her are grappling with in various contexts.

“I think a lot of people at the moment feel like they don’t fit in anywhere,” Wonderland says. “A lot of people have said that to me, a lot of big artists have said that to me, that they’re struggling, because it’s very quick quick quick quick quick right now, and I’m an album artist. I’ll always be an album artist.”

To wit, both of the aforementioned singles come from Wonderland’s fourth studio album Ghost World, out Dec. 6. The producer says that the world building and story telling inherent in the album creation process is something that’s core to her creative process.

I’ve actually met [KATYSEYE]. Like, a while ago, I was shooting for Vogue, and they came to me, and they’re like, “Hi, we are new group, KATSEYE,” and they wanted to sing “Water” for me. And, like, they literally the cutest group … So, yeah, they’re cute. I’m excited to see their performance.

Coachella was insane. It was my first time performing there, so that was really fun. Like, especially the second week, I was vibing, yeah, and now I have some more in Europe and everything.

I literally love The Smurfs and Rihanna being Smurfette. So I’m happy that I’m a part of that one.

At a critical moment for immigrant communities in the United States, a growing number of Latino artists are raising their voices. The raids carried out in cities like Los Angeles, along with the strict immigration policies of the Trump administration, are not only shaking up the system — they are also profoundly impacting the world of Latin music. From Billboard chart-topping artists like Ivan Cornejo and Fuerza Regida to iconic figures in Latin music like Maná and Pepe Aguilar, voices of solidarity are growing louder.

“The people being attacked today are not ‘illegal aliens’; they are human beings with RIGHTS,” Becky G wrote on Instagram. Singer DannyLux also issued a call on social media: “Protests are a cry from a community tired of being ignored and criminalized simply for seeking a dignified life!” Many artists are not just speaking out. Mexican superstar Junior H launched merchandise whose profits will go entirely to CHIRLA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing legal support for immigrants facing ICE detention and deportation. Fher Olvera, lead singer of the Mexican rock band Maná and longtime advocate for immigrant rights, urged his followers to protest peacefully. “That’s how they’re going to win,” he said. Peso Pluma, alongside his manager George Prajin, has shared links to organizations defending immigrant rights like the National Immigration Law Center and United We Dream.

Does this song sound like this one? Well, the Supreme Court doesn’t want to hear about it as Ed Sheeran escapes a court battle, and we have the story. On Monday, June 16, the high court refused to revive a long-running lawsuit that claimed Sheeran’s 2014 hit “Thinking Out Loud” infringed Marvin Gaye‘s famed 1973 jam “Let’s Get It On.” Sheeran has faced multiple lawsuits over the track that reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and ultimately spent 58 weeks on the chart. Ed’s legal accuser had asked the justices to hear the case, which was dismissed in November by a lower court that ruled the two tracks share only basic “musical building blocks.”

What’s happened to me too, now that I’m an adult, people tell me, “I was Boy No. 1 in this movie.” And I’m just like, “That’s so cool.” So we’re here in front of Union Station.

There was a restaurant and the owner was an opera singer. My grandpa would go to the restaurant and he told him, “I’ll be your waiter, I won’t charge you anything, but give me singing classes.” That’s why he slept here, he went over there, the owner would give him classes and he would come back. My grandpa was deported, like, four or five times.

R. Kelly Hospitalized Over Alleged Prison Overdose & Seeks Trump’s Pardon | Billboard News

R. Kelly was reportedly hospitalized following claims of an alleged overdose while in prison. The singer is now seeking a pardon from President Donald Trump. Keep watching for the full story.

Tetris Kelly: R. Kelly was reportedly hospitalized after what he is claiming was another attempt on his life inside prison. His defense attorneys are saying that Trump can save him. This all follows the Billboard reports that the R&B star and convicted sex offender was sent to solitary confinement. We have the update.

A few days ago, a court filing said R. Kelly was sent to solitary within hours of claiming that prison officials took out a hit on his life. Now, outlets are saying a court filing submitted by the singer’s attorney on Monday claims R. Kelly was left bedridden in a hospital after a staff member instructed him to take additional medication the night of June 12. The alleged overdose reportedly caused the “I Believe I Can Fly” artist to lose consciousness, and he was then taken to Duke University Hospital, according to defense attorneys. Kelly is claiming he was given enough medication to end his life, and he is convinced he will be killed or left to die. He’s arguing yet again to be released to home confinement. The prosecutors responded: “This is the behavior of an abuser and a master manipulator on display.”

R. Kelly’s attorneys have repeatedly asked for Trump to provide their client with a pardon, having publicly asked the president. Kelly is currently serving a 3-decade prison sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking convictions he received in 2021.

The Billboard video staff is reacting to Miley Cyrus’ joke about JoJo Siwa’s sexuality seemingly changing with her new relationship with her fellow Big Brother contestant, Chris Hughes and the conversation on social media that goes on regarding sexuality and celebrities especially during Pride month.

All right, so guys, I don’t know if you saw it. At World Pride, Miley Cyrus posted a little video in which she said, “I’m gonna go back into the closet where maybe I can find JoJo Siwa.”

Well, as we all know, JoJo Siwa is now publicly dating a man, Chris, and so people are saying like, Hey, did she go back in the closet? Was she fake gay? There’s a whole thing.

I’m kind of shocked that Miley would say that. 

Stefanie Tanaka   

I mean, I think people have been kind of accusing a lot of stars of doing that. They were talking about Fletcher also, like, dating a man after she said that she was a lesbian or something. 

Tetris Kelly

I mean, we all know that sexuality is on the spectrum for pretty much everybody, so you should be able to kind of do what you want to do. I don’t think it changes anything for JoJo. But what is interesting to me is that JoJo has always, in multiple interviews, multiple times, gave a lot of credit to Miley Cyrus. So what’s to be said when somebody that you look up to is commenting on your personal life? Because now JoJo is speaking out about it.

Wait. So my question is, is Miley gay? 

Stefanie Tanaka  

She said she’s pansexual, which means that her sexuality is fluid. So, I mean, that’s not necessarily saying that she doesn’t, she can’t date a man, right? You know, just she said before that she doesn’t really care about, like, you know gender.

Judy Sanchez  

She’s so hung up on the label. Yeah, she herself. Well, I think Miley’s brand is so, like, free and, fluid.

Well, I feel like people are more hung up on labels, like, if you say that you’re gay, they’re like, you have to be gay. Well, she’s like, I don’t know if it works that way. 

Jerah Milligan  

She can’t be bi? I guess my thing is like, look, I guess I’m confused on what’s wrong. And like, she dates women, now she’s dating a dude. She could date a woman after this dude.
