Bad Gyal Talks Her First Album ‘La Joie,’ Working With Young Miko, Rauw Alejandro & More | Billboard News

Up-and-coming Spanish artist Bad Gyal talks about how she separates who she is in real life, Alba, from her onstage persona Bad Gyal, making her first album ‘La Joie,’ getting to work with Tokischa on her hit song “Chulo” and getting Young Miko on the remix “Chulo Part 2,” why she didn’t want to twerk with Rauw Alejandro at his show in Puerto Rico and more!

Bad Gyal:
When I saw my grandmother at one of my concerts, I thought, “I can relax now. If she approves it. If she is looking at me with illusion and understanding it’s me, then everything is fine.”

Bad Gyal:
Hi I’m Bad Gyal and this is Billboard News.

Leila Cobo:
Alba Farelo, Bad Gyal, welcome to Billboard! How do you separate yourself from Alba and Bad Gyal? Both in fashion and personality, as in everything, or do you see them as the same?

Bad Gyal:
In terms of fashion and how I express myself, I feel there is not that much difference. If I go to an informal dinner with my friends, I end up dressing a little like this too. Maybe not so…mmmm but my style is something that goes beyond my profession and my character, but in terms of my life and my personality, many times people get the wrong idea of how I should be personally, because of my music, my style, my way of dancing and expressing myself. Actually, I consider myself more of a chill person obviously I love Rumba, I love parties, I love music and moving my a–. That’s not a lie. But I do have this other side that likes to just chill out.

Tetris Kelly
Megan and Nicki seem to turn up the heat, the latest on Young Thug, Snoop Dogg and Teyana Taylor. We catch up with Bad Gyal, and we’ve got new music from Meg, Ice, JT and more. It’s Friday January 26th, and welcome to Billboard News. I’m Tetris here to run it all down for you, so let’s start with some new music.

Tetris Kelly
We love a snake queen. Megan Thee Stallion has a lot to say with “Hiss.”

Tetris Kelly
More bops to come throughout the show, but for now let’s hit the top story. Nicki Minaj is attacking Megan Thee Stallion in a big way after the release of her new single “Hiss.”

Nicki Minaj
You will be running on your good foot for the rest of your sorry days.

Tetris Kelly
She’s taking the fight to X and with new music on IG Live even mocking Meg getting shot, and Thee Stallion isn’t backing down.

Megan Thee Stallion
I’m saying a hit dog gonna holla.

Tetris Kelly
The new Meg track seemingly takes a shot at Nicki Minaj and her husband with the lyric about Megan’s Law, the federal law requiring law enforcement to make information available regarding registered sex offenders. Nicki Minaj had her own track in response.

Tetris Kelly
Tory Lanez was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot, and Nicki went on to make fun of Megan’s success and style of rapping.

Nicki Minaj
Because you have three Grammys and you have to learn how to rap on the beat and being comfortable in the music.

Tetris Kelly 1:55
Fans of both artists are following the fallout online, but some are pointing out Nicki has hundreds of posts shading Meg. Meg went on the Breakfast Club and held her position.

Megan Thee Stallion
They’re gonna act like it’s unprovoked. I’m gonna take a little nap and we’ll wake back up and I’m gonna see what they have to say.

Kanye Working on Music Video With North West, Mel B Teases Spice Girls Project & More | Billboard News

50 Cent denies using Ozempic after showing off 40-pound weight loss. Meek Mill says he charges $250,000 for a verse. Kanye West shared a video of his daughter, North West, showing off her ideas for a music video for their collab track off his upcoming album ‘Vultures.’ Justin Timberlake is back: The singer dropped his new track titled “Selfish” and announced a one-night-only show in NYC. Mel B is teasing the Spice Girls’ upcoming project that will feature all five members. Jennifer Lopez is set to be a musical guest on ‘SNL.’ And more!

Tetris Kelly
50 Cent’s weight loss, a North West music video and Meek Mill charges what? JT’s tour, all five Spice Girls and J.Lo on a Saturday — we head over to the Tok for the top songs as we explain the massive success of Alicia Keys and spend some extra time with Julia Michaels.

Tetris Kelly
Hey guys, it’s Tetris and welcome to the Thursday, January 25th, episode of Billboard News. Let’s get busy with three things you should know in hip-hop.

Fans are saying 50 Cent looks like 25 Cent after the iconic rapper is looking much slimmer than usual in an IG post. Users are quick to say he is probably using popular weight loss drug Ozempic. Well, a source told Page Six he’s not on Ozempic and has been on a rigorous training program for eight months. My thoughts are: just be honest. So many people are using it to get skinny now, so just be proud of you — no shame in the game.

Meek Mill has zero shame. The hip-hop heavyweight jumped on Twitter to say, “Every time I do a verse I charge 250k and up if you got 150k on site and I like the song we can swap it out.” 150k down payment — you’re charging them Nicki Minaj prices. Maybe he learned that when they dated, but does a Meek Mill verse help the way a Nicki feature can?

Like father, like daughter: Kanye West has jumped on Instagram to share a storyboard of what seems to be a video he’s working on with daughter North West. He captioned the video: “treatment by your bestie Miss Westie.” I love their bond. North is definitely going to be somebody we see a lot of in the future.

Flavor Flav on Taylor Swift, New Public Enemy Music & More | Billboard News

Hip-hop legend Flavor Flav stopped by Billboard News and spoke to Rania Aniftos about using A.I. to translate his new track “Every Where Man” with Chuck D, recording new Public Enemy music, his potential return to reality TV, being a fan of Taylor Swift and more!

Flavor Flav:
I can hold some notes besides the national anthem.

Rania Aniftos:
We were gonna get into that!

Flavor Flav:
Don’t go there! Don’t go there!

Rania Aniftos:
We were gonna get into that!

Flavor Flav:
Don’t go there!

Ay yo, check this out. This is Flavor Flav, and this right here is Billboard News.

Rania Aniftos:
Hey, everybody! It’s Rania Aniftos with Billboard News, and it’s such an exciting day in the studio today because we have the one and only Flavor Flav. Welcome!

Flavor Flav:
In the building!

Rania Aniftos:
In the building! You are fresh off the release of an A.I. song, A.I. generated, A.I. facilitated track, “Every Where Man” featuring your old Public Enemy pal Chuck D. So tell me a bit about how that came together. What was the inspiration behind it?

Flavor Flav:
My partner Chuck D mentioned to me about doing a record called “Every Where Man” because I’m every … Flavor Flav is everywhere, man. You know what I’m saying? So, me and Chuck sat down. Chuck took the pen, put it to the paper. So really, Chuck D wrote this song. He writes it, I recite it like that, you know what I’m saying? So that’s how this record really came to be because Chuck is always ahead of his time, so we got this song now transposed into, like, 30 different languages. This song in Spanish, I was bugging out because I’m like, “Wow, listen to my voice in Spanish. Listen to my voice in …”

Rania Aniftos:
Korean!

Flavor Flav:
Like, Korean. Yeah, you know, and I never, ever thought that I wouldn’t be speaking Korean. You know what I’m saying? But hey, thanks to A.I.! And not only that, but I’m glad that this is happening because A.I. has been misused so much, you know? And there’s a lot of people that’s not using it correctly, so I feel that I’m one of the first ones to show the example of A.I. being used correctly.

Billie Eilish and Finneas have earned their second Oscar nomination for their track “What Was I Made For?” and Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt have been nominated for “I’m Just Ken,” but there are a few musicians and actors who are noticeably missing from this year’s nominations. Jennifer Lopez has been nominated for a Razzie for her role in ‘The Mother.’ Rihanna had the ultimate fangirl moment when she met Natalie Portman for the first time. Common and Jennifer Hudson seemingly confirm their relationship on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show.’ On a recent episode of ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy cleared the air after DJ Envy called SZA “this generation’s Mary (J. Blige).” And more!

It’s Tetris, it’s Tuesday and it’s January 23rd. Welcome to Billboard News. Now it is spicy in these music streets, but before we get into the tea of the day, let’s jump over to the movie biz for the Oscar noms.

Billie Eilish may earn her second Oscar while everyone notices a major snub. Here are your 2024 Oscar nominations. Billie Eilish and Finneas earned their second Oscar nomination for “What Was I Made For?” If she takes home the trophy for best original song, that will make her a two-time Oscar winner at just the age of 22. But she’ll have to beat out Jon Batiste and Dan Wilson; Scott George; Diane Warren, who received her 15th nomination but has yet to win; and fellow ‘Barbie’ soundtrack writers Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. Noticeably missing from the category: Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night.”

Julia Michaels Talks Writing Music for Disney’s Wish,’ Her Approach to Writing for Other Artists & More | Billboard News

Julia Michaels talks about what it was like to become the youngest female songwriter to write songs for Disney film Wish, how she would feel if she were to receive an Oscar nomination, how her anxiety is her power, how she approaches for other artists like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter and more!

Julia Michaels:
There’s gonna be littles all over the world that are going to feel connected to the songs, and they’re gonna grow up with the songs like I grew up with my Disney songs. Hi, I’m Julia Michaels, and this is Billboard News.

Rania Aniftos:
Hey, everybody. I’m Rania Anifto with Billboard News, and I’m so happy to be here with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Julia Michaels.

So Wish, yes, what a beautiful story. You got to write the music for it. And you’re the youngest female songwriter to write songs for a Disney movie.

Julia Michaels:
That’s what I’ve been told.

Rania Aniftos:
What was that like, hearing about that history-making accomplishment?

Julia Michaels:
Overall, just was such an honor. I mean, I’ve … I grew up listening to Disney and watching Disney, Alan Menken and the Lopezs and Howard Ashman, and just the greats, and to be able to, you know, follow in their, their footsteps is beautiful … terrifying and beautiful.

Rania Aniftos:
Obviously, I’m guessing it was pretty intimidating writing for, like, a Disney film. Like, how did you I guess, work through that? Were you were like, “OK, I can do this. I’m set in, they asked me you know, like, and I’m ready to take this on.”
