Drake fans, get ready: DJ Akademiks has revealed that new music from the Canadian superstar is on the way.
The news comes in the wake of Drake’s highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar, which has dominated the hip-hop world for months.
On Monday (July 8), Akademiks took to social media to rally behind Drake, addressing those who doubted the rapper’s staying power.
“All u n—– who been acting like Drake finished… bookmark this tweet for 6 months from now,” he declared. “We don’t want u n—– no where near us… Remember that.”
He added, “And yes… enjoy all the other noise and bs… Drake new music otw. and it’s fye… trust.”

Akademiks, one of Drake’s most loyal supporters, has remained steadfast in his defense of the “Hotline Bling” hitmaker throughout his ongoing beef with K.Dot.
During a May appearance on the Flagrant podcast, Akademiks argued that Drake came out on top in the conflict, highlighting the different expectations placed on the two artists.

“The rules aren’t the same for both artists… Drake has never ducked a battle. He’s always been there,” he explained.
The anticipation for new Drake music has been building, especially after his longtime producer, Gordo, hinted at a summer release. In an Instagram post featuring a photo with Drake, Gordo teased, “You guys ready for summer 2024…”
Drake’s latest chart-topping success was with his track “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 17, 2023.
This marked Drake’s 13th No. 1 hit, tying him with Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 singles by a solo male artist. “First Person Shooter” is from his latest album, For All the Dogs, which has already produced several other top 10 hits.
When Reid Wilson, a 14-year-old singer from the heart of Alabama, stepped onto the America’s Got Talent stage, his nerves were palpable.
But as soon as he began belting out Lesley Gore’s 1963 hit “You Don’t Own Me,” those nerves vanished, replaced by a voice so powerful and a presence so magnetic that it left the judges and audience stunned.
“I am definitely nervous, but I am going to put my all into this and sing my heart out and try not to miss a note,” Wilson declared before his performance. And boy, did he deliver!

The judges were clearly taken aback by Wilson’s unexpected song choice and undeniable talent.
Simon Cowell couldn’t help but admit, “We weren’t expecting that.” Heidi Klum, visibly impressed, gushed, “I think you’re absolutely incredible. I loved when you took the mic off [the stand] and gave a little more stage presence. Well done.”
Simon added that his parents must have good musical taste, to which Reid quipped “no,” getting a laugh from the judges and the audience.
Sofia Vergara, who had initially been concerned about Wilson’s nerves, was thoroughly impressed: “You were so nervous at the beginning. I was, ‘He’s not going to be able to put his stuff together,’ but you did, and you did amazingly. It sounded spectacular from here.”
But it was Howie Mandel who had the most profound reaction to Wilson’s performance.
Visibly moved, Mandel shared, “I was bowled over because I was surprised. You know what? That stage is where dreams come true. Do you believe in dreams?”
When Wilson answered affirmatively, Howie pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending a shower of glittering confetti raining down on Wilson and his proud mother, who had rushed onto the stage to embrace her son in a moment of pure joy.
Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me” was a bold choice for the young singer.
The song, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964, has been a feminist anthem for decades. Written by John Madara and David White, it showcased Gore’s powerful voice and became one of her signature hits.
Gore, already famous for her hit song “It’s My Party,” recorded “You Don’t Own Me” when she was only 17 years old. It was later featured on her album Lesley Gore Sings of Mixed-Up Hearts.
Backstage, Mandel couldn’t stop raving about Wilson’s raw talent.
“I did it because of the sound and who you are was nothing close to anything I was expecting. You are a big talent,” he told the young singer, who was still trying to wrap his head around this life-changing moment.
For Wilson, whose musical hero is none other than the legendary Aretha Franklin, this is the opportunity of a lifetime.
“I would love to be the next superstar,” he confessed. “I sing at family gatherings every now and then but nothing big.”
Now, armed with a Golden Buzzer and a ticket to the live shows, Wilson has the chance to make that dream a reality.

Yuki Chiba, Loco and BabyTron all notch their first career entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated July 13) thanks to a series of A-list collaborations.
Yuki Chiba is already established in the Japanese hip-hop scene, but he earns his first crossover hit in the United States thanks to his featured appearance on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Mamushi.” Released June 28 on her third studio album Megan, the song debuts at No. 68 on the Hot 100 with 7.3 million official U.S. streams and 1,000 downloads sold in its opening week, according to Luminate. It also starts at No. 18 on Hot Rap Songs and No. 21 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The bilingual track features Megan dishing a few bars in Japanese. (Megan debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.)

Loco (real name: Kwon Hyuk-woo) makes his Hot 100 arrival thanks to his new track with Jimin, “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band.” The song, released June 28 via BigHit Music/Geffen/ICLG, debuts at No. 88 with 6.8 million U.S. streams and 11,000 sold. It also launches at No. 3 on Digital Song Sales, as well as No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales, earning Loco his first leader and Jimin his fifth (apart from BTS).
Loco, from South Korea, has been releasing solo music for over a decade, including two studio albums — Bleached in 2017 and Weak in 2023, with the former reaching No. 7 on World Albums. The rapper has additionally charted four tracks on World Digital Song Sales, including three top 10s: “Can’t Help Myself” (by Eric Nam featuring Loco; No. 4 peak), “Young” (with Baekhyun; No. 4) and “All I Wanna Do” (by Jay Park featuring Hoody and Loco; No. 9).

BabyTron, from Ypsilanti, Mich., is a member of hip-hop trio ShittyBoyz. “El Beneficio De La Duda” scores 6.2 million audience impressions, up 56%, earned during the June 28-July 4 tracking week, according to Luminate. “Te Va a Doler,” meanwhile, falls to No. 26 with a 48% decline in audience (down 48%) after one week on top.
Thanks to the 56% gain in audience, “El Beneficio De La Duda” takes home the Greatest Gainer trophy, a weekly award for the song with the largest increase in audience among the 50-title radio ranking. A pair of California stations lead the way with the most plays, KLAX in Los Angeles and KRZZ in San Francisco, in the latest tracking week, while KFZO in Dallas, rounds up the top three.

“El Beneficio De La Duda,” composed by singer-songwriter Joss Favela and released May 28 via Music VIP, grants the label its first ruler on the overall Latin radio ranking. Music VIP came close when “Que Onda Perdida,” another Grupo Firme song, with Gerardo Coronel, reached No. 3 in July 2023.
“For us, it is wonderful to continue to represent our Mexican music in the highest possible way,” Music VIP’s Isael Gutiérrez, founder and CEO of Music VIP Entertainment, tells Billboard. “Every achievement and every record we break drives us to keep innovating and creating music that continues to break boundaries.”
As “El Beneficio” lands at the summit on the overall Latin radio tally, Grupo Firme replaces itself at No. 1, the second act to achieve the feat in 2024, following Myke Towers whose “Borracho y Loco” with Yandel ceded the throne to his own “La Falda,” after the latter’s one week in charge (Feb. 24-dated list).
Beyond its Latin Airplay coronation, “El Beneficio” takes the lead on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, for the group’s 10th No. 1 there, tying with Christian Nodal for second-most champs this decade, both trailing only Calibre 50’s 11 No. 1s since 2020.
“When Joss Favela sent me the first take of the song, he simulated the accordion with his voice because the song wasn’t produced yet,” Caz adds. “I still liked how his voice hummed the melody and decided to incorporate it, and that is one of the most special details of the song.”
Grupo Firme, comprising Eduin and Johnny Caz, Abraham Hernandez, Joaquin Ruiz, Christian Gutierrez, Jose Rubio and Dylan Camacho, celebrates its second No. 1 on the heels of the group’s La Última Peda Tour 2024, the 32-date run that launched in San Antonio, Texas on May 10 and will wrap up Nov. 2 at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

BLACKPINK’s LISA is the latest addition to the line-up for the 2024 Global Citizen Festival.
The K-pop superstar will mark her first live solo set at a festival she co-headlines this year’s event, where she joins previously confirmed headliners Post Malone, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll and Rauw Alejandro.
The timing is sweet. Just this week, LISA landed her first Billboard Global Excl. U.S. No. 1 with “Rockstar,” which opened at the summit. The song was first teased on TikTok earlier last month when LISA joined the social media site and set a Guinness World Record by gaining 1 million followers in just over two hours. That’s just one in an impressive and expanding collection of records smashed by LISA, Jennie, Rosé and Jisoo.

Meanwhile, Shady’s back (back again), as Eminem returns with his new track “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and Babytron, from his forthcoming album The Death of Slim Shady. “Tobey” is climbing a whopping 59 places to No. 17.
It follows the success of Eminem’s previous single “Houdini,” which marked his 11th U.K. No. 1 single in June 2024.
“Houdini” was the Detroit rapper’s first fully solo No. 1 since “Toy Soldiers” in 2005 and his first U.K. chart-topper since 2020’s “Godzilla,” featuring Juice WRLD.
