ILLENIUM has had a massive 2023 with his self-titled album and the global tour behind it. But as the year comes to a close, he’s returning to the beginning of the ILLENIUM saga.
On Nov. 21, the producer born Nick Miller will release ILLENIUM Presents: Starfall, a graphic novel spin on the producer’s own origin story. Produced in collaboration with Z2 Comics, which has produced graphic novels with a variety of artists including Blondie, Sublime and Vince Staples, the 80-page graphic novel tells the story of “a cold totalitarian society where only the fittest survive.”
See exclusive images from the project below.
“Nick has embraced a new world order of violence and brutality,” the Starfall teaser continues, “blindly following his overseers’ wishes no matter how much blood stains his hands. To meet these vicious ends, Nick relies on an addictive Substance—a potent elixir that his malignant overlord rations out to the loyally subservient.
But a mysterious woman named Ash soon challenges his worldview, unlocking a potential of harmonyrooted in a winding mythology of phoenixes and fire. To transcend the dystopia he helped create, Nick will have to battle demons of addictions and unearth the secrets of ILLENIUM.”
This storyline mimics Miller’s own life, as the producer has been candid about getting sober in 2012 after a heroin addiction.
“The chance to bring my origin story to life in graphic novel form has always been a dream of mine,” Miller says in a statement. “This will be unlike anything anyone has ever seen from me before.”
The graphic novel will be available in standard hardcover, deluxe hardcover and super deluxe editions. The deluxe edition will feature an oversized hardcover book in a custom slipcase and come packaged with three art prints illustrated by artist Alex Moore. The super deluxe edition, which contains the same contents as the deluxe edition, is limited to 100 copies signed by ILLENIUM and also includes a limited edition holographic collectors card in a magnetic case and an enamel pin. Pre-orders are available now.
The IRL ILLENIUM is currently on tour in Europe and will play a pair of shows at Los Angeles’ SoFi stadium in February behind his ILLENIUM LP, which debuted at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Albums upon its release this past Mary. The hero of our story also announced yesterday (Oct 3) that he got married in Aspen, Col. this past weekend.

Peso Pluma took over Miami on Tuesday (Oct. 3) with an intimate showcase at the Faena Theater, just hours after speaking at the Billboard Latin Music Week 2023.
An exclusive show for Latin Music Week attendees, Peso’s “Billboard En Vivo” concert was as expected: packed. The Mexican star delivered a riveting one-hour set to an equally energetic crowd, kicking off with a cinematic intro featuring black-and-white footage of the artist and a giant spider, Peso’s spirit animal.
“Very cool to be here tonight,” Peso said at the beginning of the show. “I want to thank all of you for the support. Let’s sing some corridos because that’s what people want to hear. This is how La Doble P sounds like in Miami.”
Backed by a live band with instruments — such as a tololoche, trombones and trumpets — that powered Peso’s signature sound, he went on to sing such songs as “Rubicón,” “El Belicón,” “Rosa Pastel” with special guest Jasiel Nuñez, “Bye,” “El Azul,” “Lady Gaga,” “AMG,” “PRC” and “Ella Baila Sola.”
“I want to thank my band because without them, none of this would be possible,” the Jalisco-born artist (real name: Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija) told the audience. “I also want to thank my Billboard family. Thank you to the team for all the support.”
Earlier, Peso joined Yng Lvcas and Grupo Frontera’s Adelaido “Payo” Solís and Juan Javier Cantú for The New Mexican Revolution panel at Billboard Latin Music Week 2023, presented by BMI. There, the singer-songwriter spoke on regional Mexican’s music global growth. “We’re now taking this music global, which were able to do because of unity, has others looking at us now. What we’re doing now will be in the history books of Latin music.”
Celebrated for more than 30 years, the 2023 edition of Latin Music Week includes a Superstar Q&A with Shakira; the Legends on Legends chat with Chencho Corleone and Vico C; Making the Hit Live! with Carin León and Pedro Capó; a panel with RBD’s Christian Chávez, Christopher von Uckermann, and Maite Perroni; Superstar Songwriter discussion with Edgar Barrera and Keityn, and, among many other sessions, Q&As and workshops. See the ultimate Latin Music Week guide here. This year’s Latin Music Week, taking place Oct. 2-6, also includes showcases by Peso Pluma, Mike Bahía and Greeicy, DannyLux and Fonseca, to name a few. Check out the dates and times for the showcases throughout the week here.
Official partners of the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Week, taking place Oct. 2-6, include AT&T, Cheetos, CN Bank, Delta Air Lines, Lexus, Netflix, Michelob ULTRA and Smirnoff.
Latin Music Week coincides with the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony, which will broadcast live from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla., on Thursday (Oct. 5) and will air on Telemundo. It will also broadcast simultaneously on Universo, Peacock, the Telemundo App, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional.
Jason Mraz has never had a No. 1 on the Billboard 200, though he has got agonizingly close (on multiple occasions).
On Tuesday night, Oct. 3, the U.S. singer, songwriter and guitarist felt the fresh air at the top of the tree following his second round performance on ABC‘s Dancing With The Stars.
Mraz and his dance partner Daniella Karagach did a Rumba to “Quizas, Quizas, Quizas” by Andrea Bocelli featuring Jennifer Lopez, and got the judges moving and grooving to their efforts.

The judges awarded the pair 24 out of 30, equaling the night’s (and season’s) best, also notched on the evening by Marvel star Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy, who danced to Camila Cabello’s “Don’t Go Yet”.
Mraz is now joint leader. First, no doubt, feels great for the two-time Grammy Award winner who has landed two top 10s on the Billboard Hot 100, and five top 10s on the Billboard 200, including two No. 2s — for 2012’s Love Is a Four Letter Word and 2014’s Yes.
The three eights awarded by the DWTS judges is an improvement on the three sevens awarded for week one, when Mraz and Karagach strutted out with a Cha Chat to “I Feel Like Dancing,” one of his own songs.
In June, Mraz released his eighth studio album, Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride, and, last month, issued the 15-year anniversary Deluxe Edition of We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. We Deluxe.
He’s competing for the Mirrorball Trophy, now in its 32nd season and renamed in honor of the late head judge Len Goodman.

One celebrity no longer in contention is Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney Spears’ younger sister.
On Tuesday, Spears and her dance partner Alan Bersten performed a Cha Cha to “Shake Senora” by Pitbull featuring T-Pain and Sean Paul. The routine didn’t cut it.
When fan votes and judges scores were counted, Spears was eliminated.

The Voice has found another one.
Teen Kaylee Shimizu showed up big time during her Blind Audition Tuesday night (Oct. 3), with a performance that carried the confidence of youth, and the skills of a professional.
Hailing from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Shimizu covered the Beatles’ “Golden Slumbers,” peppering it with elite high notes — all stability and control — and with more runs than a track and field event.

The 17-year-old gave us feathery touches, through to the dynamite, and earned a four-chair turn.
John Legend turning first, followed immediately by Niall Horan, Reba McEntire and, after a pause to soak it up, Gwen Stefani.
“We’re just stunned right now. Your voice was just dazzling, it was so creative it was so musical,” remarked Legend. “You know you could win The Voice, right,” he added, before rolling out the red carpet for Team Legend. “You have so much confidence delivering these impossible notes.”
Stefani was “blown away.” The youngster’s “vibrato, it’s so slow,” and it “feels like you have so much control over that,” she added. “I’ve never heard anything like that before and I think it’s because you’re so young and free.”
Horan, as a member of One Direction, has enjoyed several lifetime of experiences. “I cannot believe what I just witnessed,” he enthused. “That was just unbelievable. When we talk about ‘technically gifted,’ I’ve never met anyone so gifted. The song choice was perfect.”
Speaking last, McEntire admitted, “when I was 17 I had not the imagination to be even think about singing like you. I’ve never heard anybody do what you did on stage today. It was spiritual to me.”
Shimizu digs her “soulful R&B” and grew up singing karaoke with her Filipino family, who were invited to join the contestant on center stage.
There could be only one team for Shimizu, and that was Team Legend.

TikTok has been a major factor in the song’s growing profile, as a portion of its audio has been used in over 300,000 clips on the platform to date. (Activity on TikTok is not included in Billboard’s charts except for the newly-launched TikTok & Billboard Top 50.) On Instagram, the song has been used in over 13,000 Reels.
The song also becomes just the second Hot 100-charting song for Dead Oceans/Secretly Group, the independent record label founded in 2007 by Chris Swanson and Phil Waldorf. The label first reached the chart with Phoebe Bridgers and Maggie Rogers’ charity cover of Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” (No. 57, 2020).
Mitski (full name: Mitski Miyawaki) first appeared on a Billboard chart in July 2016 with her fourth studio album Puberty 2. The set, her first release on Dead Oceans, reached No. 19 on Alternative Albums and No. 32 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums.
Since then, she has charted three albums on the Billboard 200: Be the Cowboy (No. 52, 2018), Laurel Hell (No. 5, 2022) and her latest a week ago. Laurel Hell also hit No. 1 on Alternative Albums, Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums.
In 2018, Mitski scored her first No. 1 on a Billboard chart, when “The Only Heartbreaker,” from Be the Cowboy, topped Adult Alternative Airplay. The song became her first of four total entries at the format, followed by “Love Me More” (No. 23 peak in 2022), “Should’ve Been Me” (No. 16, 2022) and current single “Bug Like an Angel” (up 17-16 on the latest chart, a new high).

On the Hot 100, Swift charts three songs: “Cruel Summer” (up 6-4, after reaching No. 3), “Anti-Hero” (26-21, after spending eight weeks at No. 1) and “Karma,” featuring Ice Spice (38-31, after hitting No. 2).
Rounding out the Artist 100’s top five, Olivia Rodrigo dips to No. 2, Zach Bryan rises 5-3, as his new five-track EP Boys of Faith debuts at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 (44,000 units), Morgan Wallen holds at No. 4 and Doja Cat jumps 10-5, powered by her new LP Scarlet, which opens at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 (72,000 units).

The Blind auditions are rumbling along on NBC‘s The Voice, and, on Monday night (Oct. 2), one particular contestant got tongues wagging.
Hailing from Wrightsville, Arkansas, Mac Royals stepped into the spotlight and showed he’s in the right place. With a voice coated in caramel, Mac covered John Mayer’s “Gravity,” and was an immediate with the judges. All of them.
Royals has a vision to “build a bridge” from the industry to Arkansas, a place lacking in opportunities for talent. “I want to be there personally to help them, so I’m here doing what I can,” he explained.

Don’t bet against him.
Prior to hitting the stage, Royals remarked: “I hope the coaches can hear my heart and not just my voice,” and that “they can feel the pain in the song that I’m about to deliver, and that’s what’s going to make them turn around.”
Niall Horan didn’t hesitate, as he turned first. John Legend closely followed, then Gwen Stefani, with Reba McEntire bringing up the rear — for a four-chair turn.
“Wow, that was such a beautiful rendition of that song,” Legend later remarked. “You made us forget about the original and just think about who is this person and I was so moved by your performance.” Legend wasted no time in presenting his pitch.
“You have this incredible gifted voice,” explained Stefani. “You weren’t trying got show off your voice, you were showing off you. And your heart. And that was beautiful.”
It was “off the scale, it was amazing,” Horan enthused. “You did everything so well. And brought different variations of your voice, we heard the falsetto, we heard the sick runs in the middle.”
McEntire played the geography card. As an Oklahoman, they’re virtually neighbors. “I had 18 people in my hometown growing up,” she noted, “so I do know about small towns, giving back, helping out.”
The smalltown connection was a winner, as Mac selected Team Reba.

John Mayer didn’t waste a moment.
Ahead of his fall Solo tour, the seven-time Grammy Award-winning bluesman appeared on two separate shows overnight, for chats, laughs and a performance.
At the restart of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Mayer stopped by for a chat with the host, and for several trips down memory lane.
[embedded content]
The rocker recounted the time Fallon’s bandleader Questlove filled in for his drummer on stage at Madison Square Garden. “He was coming to the gig anyway, and somewhere along the line of him coming to the show he got offered to play like six songs,” Mayer remembers. Questlove apparently learned all those songs on the way to the Garden, and delivered the goods for a “magical night.”
At the top of the talk, Mayer took us back in time for his “Crypto Bismol” comedy spot which came to him one night and ended up getting pitched for The Tonight Show.
As its title would suggest, the Solo shows feature Mayer alone with an acoustic guitar on stage – “out there on a tightrope” is how he describes it. “It works,” he tells Fallon, “it’s an opportunity for me to play some of the songs from my career, tell stories around them, and read signs with requests on them and they’ll try to stump me and see if I remember an old song.”
Expect the concerts to be “open-ended and great, and fun, and I’m never quite sure where the show is going to go,” with “turn on a dime” moments. “It’s really exciting.” The format is “the most fun to have finished; you know those shows where they’re really hard when you’re doing them and then when you’re done you’re just so rewarded.”
Mayer is clearly a busy guy. And what do you give a busy person? More work. That’s certainly the case, as Mayer unwraps his new SiriusXM channel, Life. The idea, he explains, is a radio channel that “isn’t genre-based, but plays music for whatever moment you’re most likely to be in during your day or week, your month or even your year.” Life begins in November.
Naturally, Mayer gave late owls a taste of things to come, with a one-man acoustic rendition of “Shouldn’t Matter but It Does,” lifted from his 2021 album Sob Rock.

Not to limit himself, Mayer also dropped in at Watch What Happens Live for a spot on the couch with Andy Cohen.
The questions came hard and fast, some from fans Zooming them in from home.
Among them, will Mayer reunite with Dead & Company (“we will play shows. I have to believe…everyone has it in their hearts to keep playing”), what is the sexiest musical instrument (saxophone), his first celebrity crush (Debbie Gibson), his three-word self-description as a lover (“takes some time”) and his least-favorite album (Paradise Valley – he has reasons).
Mayer’s Solo arena tour kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the MSG in New York City.

BTS star Jung Kook is on track for his high-charting solo single in the U.K. as “3D” makes a bright start.Based on midweek sales and streaming data published by the Official Charts Company, “3D” (via BigHit Entertainment), which features Louisville rapper Jack Harlow, is set to bow at No. 2, for the week’s highest debut.

“3D,” which leads Billboard’s new music poll this week with 62% of the vote, appears to be closing the gap on the incumbent, Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red” (Ministry of Sound). In an earlier update from the OCC, “3D” entered at No. 3, before leapfrogging Kenya Grace’s “Strangers” (FFRR), now appearing likely to dip 2-3 on the national singles tally.
In the meantime, Doja Cat’s hit remains in the box seat for a fifth consecutive week at No. 1 in the U.K.
Jung Kook made U.K. chart history earlier this year with “Seven,” his collaboration with Latto. The track landed at No. 3 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, published July 21, for the highest-charting debut by a solo Korean act.
All seven members of the BTS – Jin, Jimin, Suga, Jung Kook, RM, V and J-Hope – have shared solo material.
First, bandmate j-hope set the mark with his J. Cole collaboration “On The Street,” peaking at No. 37 in the U.K. Then Jimin bettered it, nabbing his own top 40 appearance with “Set Me Free Pt. 2” (No. 30 peak). Jimin then reset the bar with a top 10 for “Like Crazy,” peaking at No. 8 in March.
If “3D” holds its spot, or goes one better, it would give Jung Kook a higher U.K. chart position than any single released by BTS. The K-pop phenomenon has a peak of No. 3 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, achieved on three occasions – with 2020’s “Dynamite,” plus “Butter” and “My Universe” with Coldplay (both from 2021).
The next-best debut on the U.K. chart should belong to Ed Sheeran, with “American Town” forecast to debut at No. 23, and “Magical” poised to enter at No. 37, for what would be the English singer and songwriter’s 62nd and 63rd top 40 appearances. “American Town” and “Magical” are lifted from Sheeran’s Autumn Variations (Gingerbread Man), which is sailing to No. 1 on the U.K. albums chart.
The Official U.K. Singles Chart is published late Friday, Oct. 6.

Presented by Michelob Ultra 21+, the Colombian power couple’s performance featured some of their biggest hits from their individual careers and collaborative efforts.
Dubbed “One Day, One Love,” the intimate showcase started off with Bahía performing three of his notable hits: “Cuenta Conmigo,” “De Que Manera,” and “Detente.”

Soon after, wearing a tight, pink sequined dress, Greeicy took center stage to perform a handful of her bangers, including “Los Besos,” “Destino,” and even premiered a never-before-released track. She then hit the Cultura Profetica-assisted “Te Creí.”
“This place is so awesome,” the pop artist told the packed theater. “I feel you closer. Mike and I feel very thankful to be in this special place where music is celebrated.”
After their individual sets, the couple united on the stage to not only flirt, share anecdotes of their relationship, harmonize, and even do a dance off, but to perform their collaborations “Pecadito,” “Esta Noche,” and “Amantes” ahead of wrapping up their Billboard En Vivo concert series.
