Ariana Grande holds at No. 1 in Australia with Eternal Sunshine and, again, narrowly misses the chart double.
As Eternal Sunshine (via Universal) enters a third week atop the ARIA Albums Chart, Ariana’s album cut “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” enters a second week at No. 2 on the national singles tally.

Coming in at No. 2 on the album list is Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You (Universal/Sony), their first collaborative collection. It’s Future’s 10th title on the albums chart, including a No. 1 with 2022’s I Never Liked You. Metro Boomin landed at No. 4 in 2020 with Savage Mode II, a collaboration with 21 Savage, and solo LP Heroes & Villains peaked at No. 5 in 2022. Three tracks from We Don’t Trust You appear on the ARIA Singles Chart, led by “Like That” at No .8.

Closing out the top three on the ARIA Albums Chart, published Friday, March 29, is Olivia Rodrigo’s sophomore LP Guts (Geffen/Universal), which benefits from the release of the Spilled edition, which includes one new track and four songs that were previously only available on wax.

One of those new releases “Obsessed,” arrives at No. 16 on the singles chart, for her 16th top 20 appearance, ARIA reports. Three of those have climbed the chart mountain: “Drivers Licence,” “Good 4 U” and “Vampire.” Following its release in September 2023, Guts debuted at No. 1 in in Australia and logged two weeks at the summit.

Meanwhile, Australian pop duo the Veronicas bag a top 10 debut with Gothic Summer (Virgin Music Australia/Universal). Produced by Goldfinger’s John Feldmann and featuring a cast of top-flight collaborators, including Travis Barker, Gothic Summer is new at No. 6. The Brisbane sisters (Jessica and Lisa Origliasso) have cracked the top 10 with all six of their studio albums, the first three of which peaked No. 2: The Secret Life Of… (2005), Hook Me Up (2007) and The Veronicas (2014).

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, also published Friday, Benson Boone bags a fourth week at No. 1 with “Beautiful Things,” atop an unchanged top three.

Finally, Irish singer and songwriter Hozier returns to the top 10 with “Too Sweet” (Columbia/Sony), new at No. 10. That’s his first solo top 40 hit since 2015, when “Someone New” peaked at No. 24. His career best in these parts came with his 2013’s “Take Me To Church,” which sailed to No. 2.

“It’s deeply meaningful to be honored for this recognition,” says Marciano, a regular entry in Billboard’s Power 100 list. “Our industry’s work contributes to bringing the brightest minds in the world to make breakthrough medical discoveries — discoveries that give back the gift of time to people.”

The award is the charitable organization’s most prestigious honor and is presented those industry leaders who have made notable contributions to their community and profession.

Previous recipients from the music industry include Lyor Cohen, Shelli and Irving Azoff, Edgar Bronfman Jr., Coran Capshaw, Eddy Cue, Clive Davis, Sir Lucian Grainge, Sylvia Rhone and more.

“I am honored to join this admirable group of Spirit of Life recipients,” Marciano adds, “and look forward to continuing the tradition of leaning on music, film and the arts to raise awareness of and funding for City of Hope’s important work against cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.”

City of Hope’s Music, Film and Entertainment Industry fundraising group will present Marciano with the award during a gala dinner this fall in Los Angeles.

A leader in the live entertainment business, Marciano began presenting shows in his 20s, before taking on senior leadership roles at Universal Concerts, AEG Europe and Madison Square Garden Entertainment, then returning to the AEG fold in 2011.

With Marciano at the helm, AEG Presents has promoted tours from many of the music industry’s biggest artists, including stadium juggernauts Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, and overseen a festival portfolio upwards of 30 brands from Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to Stagecoach, Electric Forest, British Summertime Hyde Park and more.

Marciano has also overseen the company’s global growth with the opening of several international offices and an expansion into Australia, Singapore, Japan and France.

In its 50-plus-year history, City of Hope’s MFEI group has raised over $150 million for good causes, specifically cancer research. Marciano has a reputation “as an industry leader who is eager to accelerate City of Hope’s mission and focus on making breakthrough discoveries that move us closer to putting an end to cancer,” said Kristin Bertell, chief philanthropy officer at City of Hope. “We look forward to partnering with him and the larger music community to develop new cures, save patient lives and ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to secure their highest level of health.”

The announcement launches City of Hope’s year-long fundraising initiatives that include the Taste of Hope in NYC in April, Future Hope Poker Tournament and Songs of Hope.

It’s Lady Gaga’s birthday, and she’s giving out the presents — in the form of a glowing update on her new music.
The 38-year-old pop star shared a warm post on her big day, March 28, one that’s been full of joy and messages of kindness.

“Today has been so special,” she writes on Instagram. “I can’t remember a time I was so happy on my bday. I am in love with my best friend, my family and friends are loving and kind and healthy. I feel like my heart is bursting with gratitude for my own health and MUSIC.”

Gaga reflects on her busy work schedule, which includes the sequel to Todd Phillips’ Joker, for which she suits up as Harley Quinn alongside lead Joaquin Phoenix, and new music.

“I am writing some of my best music in as long as I can remember,” she enthuses.

Seeing messages from her Little Monsters from “all over the world,” plus artists and “publications that love my work it means so much to me,” she continues. “Thank you for loving me the way you do and for having such a real love for my songs.”It’s been almost four years since Lady Gaga dropped Chromatica, her sixth studio album, and a return to her dance-inspired roots on singles such as “Stupid Love,” the hit Ariana Grande collaboration “Rain on Me” and “Free Woman.” Chromatica debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in June 2020, for her sixth leader.

Though little is known of the direction and style of her next musical era, Gaga has confirmed via social media that she’s “not making a rock album.”

In her latest post, Gaga, wearing a black leather jacket behind the wheel of a car, and sporting bleached-blonde long hair and eyebrows, hints at pop matters to come.

“I’ve been writing pop songs since I was a little girl I can’t believe I still get to do what I love,” she writes. “This year will be an important and meaningful year for us I know. Music changes people lives I’m so honored I get to be a part of that in this.”

Last year, Gaga appeared as a guest vocalist on the gospel-tinged Rolling Stones song “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” from the legendary British rockers’ LP Hackney Diamonds.

Joker: Folie à Deux is due out in cinemas on Oct. 4. The first Joker, based on the D.C. Comics villain, became the first R-rated movie in history to accumulate $1 billion at the box office.

Taylor Swift and K-pop set the benchmark for global album sales in 2023, new data published by the IFPI reveals.
Following the release last week of its Global Music Report 2023, the IFPI published three year-end albums charts, breaking down the biggest titles by sales and formats (vinyl and streaming).

The K-pop phenomenon continues to power ahead, proof of which can be seen on the IFPI Global Album Sales Chart 2023.  SEVENTEEN’s FML leads an all-K-pop top five on the tally, which measures global unit sales – or “pure sales” – across all physical formats, as well as full album downloads.

Following its release in 2023, FML landed at No. 1 in South Korea and Japan, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and went on to sell 6.4 million units globally, sending the title to No. 1 on the previously-announced IFPI Global Album Chart. FML also smashed the record for most pre-orders ever for an album in South Korea, according to the Federation.

An “unprecedented” 19 of the top 20 titles on the IFPI Global Album Sales Chart were created by South Korean acts, demonstrating the K-pop genre’s “global dominance of the physical album format,” reads a statement from the IFPI, issued Thursday, March 28.

Trending on Billboard

The one only non-Korean act to crack the top 20 (at No. 6) was reigning, four-time IFPI global recording artist of the year Taylor Swift, whose album 1989 (Taylor’s Version) also topped the IFPI Global Vinyl Album Chart. Indeed, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) leads an all-TayTay top 3 on the wax tally, ahead of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and Midnights, respectively. Swift snags seven of the top 20, including folklore (at No. 7), Lover (No. 9), evermore (No. 13) and Red (Taylor’s Version) (No. 15).

U.S. country star Morgan Wallen lassos his first IFPI Global Chart No. 1 with One Thing at a Time, his Billboard 200 leader. The 36-track double LP tops the IFPI Global Streaming Album Chart, which counts global streams from both ad-supported and subscription platforms. The streaming list calculates a weighted global unit number taking into account differing economics across regions. Wallen also appears at No. 9 with Dangerous: The Double Album, released in 2021.

“As highlighted in IFPI’s Global Music Report,” comments Lewis Morrison, director of global charts & certifications at IFPI, revenues from both digital and physical music formats continue to see healthy growth, and the combination of fantastic artistry, format variety and the tireless work of record labels is the foundation on which this growth is built.

The charts, he continues, “are a great summary of a fantastic year for global recorded music.”

Zach Bryan wasn’t the only boss on stage at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Wednesday night (March 27).
For the encore, Bruce Springsteen joined Bryan for two songs, including a performance of the unreleased number “Sandpaper.”

The concert wrapped up with Bryan and The Boss dueting on “Revival,” the closer from the country-rock artist’s 2020 album release Elisabeth, with Maggie Rogers in support.

Earlier, Rogers joined Bryan on stage for a rendition of “Dawns,” the standalone song they co-wrote and released in 2023.

The rock legend recently made a triumphant return, taking the stage in Phoenix, AZ with the E Street band to relaunch their world tour after a six-month break due to the singer’s battle with peptic ulcer.

The problem was so acute, the 74-year-old icon has said he thought he might never perform live again. “You sing with your diaphragm,” he told E Street Radio host Jim Rotolo. “My diaphragm was hurting so badly that when I went to make the effort to sing, it was killing me, you know?,” he said. “So, I literally couldn’t sing at all, you know, and that lasted for two or three months, along with just a myriad of other painful problems.

Twenty-nine shows were postponed as a result of the medical issue, all of which have been rescheduled for the months ahead. U.S. dates on Springsteen’s world tour are set to conclude late April, and are followed with a deep run across Europe and the U.K.

Springsteen will go coast-to-coast in 24 hours. He’s on stage again tonight (March 28) at Chase Center in San Francisco, CA.

Bryan is enjoying a seriously hot run. He was named as Billboard’s Top New Artist for 2023, a year that saw him bag his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, with his self-titled fourth LP (via Belting Bronco/Warner Records), and his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart (“I Remember Everything,” featuring Kacey Musgraves). All 16 of the new release’s tracks debuted in the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100, led by the Musgraves collaboration. Bryan’s The Quitting Time Tour returns to Barclays Arena on Thursday night , then moves on to Belmont Park, NY.

Sir Lion, it turns out, wasn’t king of the weird jungle that is The Masked Singer.
TV songs was the theme for Wednesday night’s (March 27) episode of Fox’s celebrity singing contest, which saw Clock (“Good Times”), Lizard (“Scooby Doo, Where Are You?”), Poodle Moth (“Unwritten” from The Hills), and the big cat ( “Love and Marriage” from Married With Children) belt out the small screen hits.

Lizard, for the second consecutive week, and Sir Lion accumulated the lowest votes on the night, and faced off for their future on the show.

The pair tangled with “Who Are You” by the Who, the theme for The Masked Singer.

The Lizard lives on, the Bridgerton-channeling Sir Lion is out. Under the feline mask was Billy Bush, the radio and TV personality, host of Fox’s Extra, who became the subject of international news when, during the 2016 presidential campaign, video resurfaced of him and Donald Trump engaged in a crude conversation.

“I am not a great singer,” he said during his exit interview with The Masked Singer host Nick Cannon. “If you can’t get them with the lips, get them with the hips. I like to distract a little bit.”

For viewers back home, Bush had some advice: Tackle your fears (The Masked Singer being his). “If you’ve ever done something that’s a little on the scary side — like, this is scary. I’m shaking back there — say ‘yes’. Do it. I had a ball.”

Bush as Sir Lion follows the exit of Joe Bastianich (as Spaghetti & Meatballs), Savannah Chrisley (as Afghan Hound) and Kevin Hart (as Book) in this 11th season of Fox’s quirky singing competition.

Cannon returns as host of The Masked Singer, which features the returning judges Robin Thicke, McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and newbie Rita Ora, who is filling in for Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who had a stint on London West End performing in Sunset Boulevard.

“Baccarat” is one of the 15 tracks from Ozuna’s sixth-studio album, Cosmos (his seventh top 10 on Top Latin Albums), which reached No. 9 high last December. The song concurrently grants Ozuna his eighth champ on Latin Airplay as a soloist, unaccompanied by any other act, and first since “Deprimida” reached No. 1 in June 2022, for one week in charge.

Elsewhere on the Latin radio rankings, Myke Towers’ “La Capi” takes the Hot Shot Debut of the week on Tropical Airplay, as the song opens at No. 7 with 2.3 million audience impressions during the tracking week.

“La Capi,” released via One World International/ Warner Latina, grants independent label One World International its first top 10 on Tropical Airplay. Warner Latina, meanwhile, collects its first top 10 through a Towers’ entry.

“La Capi” becomes Towers second entry on the tropical radio tally, after “Travesuras,” his collab with Nio García, Casper Mágico, Ozuna, Wisin & Yandel and Flow La Movie, which topped the chart for one week in 2021.
