Taylor Swift is ready for her chart crown.
Predictably, Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department (via EMI) flies out the gate in the U.K., where it’s set to become her 12th No. 1.
Based on midweek sales and streaming data captured by the Official Charts Company, Tortured Poets has already collected 197,000 chart units, good enough for the title as the fastest-selling album of 2024 so far.When the full-week’s result is tallied, Tortured Poets will stand tall as Swift’s biggest opening week in the U.K. Her current record holder is 2022’s Midnights, with 205,000 first week U.K. chart units, a result that Tortured Poets has almost certainly eclipsed (with half a week to spare).
When the Official U.K. Albums Chart is published later this week, Swift should notch a 12th No. 1 with Tortured Poets, equaling Madonna at the top of the leaderboard of solo female artists. She’s also the first and only artist this century to rack up 10 U.K. No. 1 albums.

As previously reported, Swift respectively locks up the top three spots in the singles chart race with “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, the title track, and “So Long, London.” With that form, expect the U.S. pop superstar to nab the chart double. “Fortnight” should become TayTay’s fourth U.K. No. 1, after “Look What You Made Me Do” (from 2017), “cardigan” (2020) and “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)” (2023).
Swift’s 11th studio album has already smashed Spotify streaming marks, blasting away with more than 300 million streams in a single day.

Also on the Official U.K. Albums Chart Update, Pearl Jam’s 12th and latest studio album Dark Matter (Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records) is predicted to give the Rock Hall inductees their highest-charting LP in 11 years, at No. 2.
Completing the podium on the chart blast is UB40’s UB45 (Sono Recording Group), new at No. 3. UB45 is the 21st studio album from the British reggae/pop act, gathering seven new songs and as many revisions of older works.
All will be revealed when the national chart is published late Friday, April 26.

Based on early sales and streaming data crunched by the Official Charts Company, Swift’s collaboration with Post Malone, “Fortnight,” the opening track and first official single from Tortured Poets, is in pole position, ahead of the title track and “So Long, London,” respectively.

Swift’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department is already a global record-beater.
As previously reported, the pop superstar’s latest effort on Friday (April 19) became the first album in the streaming service’s history to accumulate more than 300 million streams in a single day.
Earlier, in less than 12 hours after its release, Tortured Poets, became Spotify’s most streamed album in a single day in 2024 so far. The 31-track double album bested the previous record-holder, Beyoncé’s Billboard 200-topping Cowboy Carter, which ultimately earned 300.41 million on-demand official streams in its first full week of release.
Also, “Fortnight,” co-written by Swift, Malone and Jack Antonoff, and co-produced by Swift and Antonoff. became Spotify’s most streamed song in a single day.
In the U.K., Tortured Poets will be expected to set the pace in the chart race. Swift currently has 11 No. 1 albums there. She’s the first and only artist this century to rack up 10 U.K. No. 1 albums, the Official Charts Company reports, and only the second female artist ever to do so, following Madonna. If Tortured Poets debuts at No. 1 later this week, Swift will draw level with Madonna on 12 U.K. leaders.
After 42 years, James finally lands a U.K. No. 1 studio album with Yummy.
The leader at the midweek point, Yummy (via Nothing But Love Music) completes the chart week at No. 1. It’s the second leader for Tim Booth and Co., following their 1998 career retrospective The Best Of, and 19th U.K. top 40 appearance.
Beyoncé’s former leader Cowboy Carter (Columbia/Parkwood Ent.) holds at No. 2 while Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler enjoys a No. 3 entry with One Deep River (EMI). That matches Knopfler’s solo career high, which he achieved with 2015’s Tracker, and becomes his ninth top 10.

According to the Official Charts Company, GUN last hit the top 10 back in 1994 with Swagger, which peaked at No. 4.
Future and Metro Boomin just miss out on a second top 10 in under a month. The U.S. hip-hop stars’ latest collaborative album We Still Don’t Trust You (Epic/Freebandz/Republic) bows at No. 11, following the release last month of the collab We Don’t Trust You, which peaked at No. 2 on the March 29 chart.
A handful of new releases impact the latest Official U.K. Albums Chart, published Friday, April 19, including Maggie Rogers’ Don’t Forget Me (No. 12 via Polydor), Nia Archives’ Silence Is Loud (No. 16 via Island) and Girl in Red’s I’m Doing It Again Baby (No. 37 via Columbia).
Taylor Swift returns to the zenith of Australia’s albums chart with Lover, while Hozier bags a sweet No. 1 single.
As Swifties waited, and anticipated, the release of The Tortured Poets Department, which dropped at midnight, many in Australia turned to her catalog.

Swift’s Lover leads a top three ahead of SZA’s SOS (RCA/Sony), up 13-2, and Swift’s rerecorded LP 1989 (Taylor’s Version), up 5-3, respectively. SZA’s sophomore album spikes as her Australian arena tour gets underway, Friday, April 19 with a concert at Brisbane Entertainment Centre, produced by Live Nation.

Further down the ARIA Chart, published late Friday, is Linkin Park’s fourth compilation Papercuts (Warner), new at No. 7. The nu-metal favorites have previously led the national tally with 2000’s Hybrid Theory, 2007’s Minutes To Midnight and 2010’s A Thousand Suns.
Also new to the national survey is We Still Don’t Trust You (Universal/Sony), the second collaborative album from Future and Metro Boomin. It’s new at No. 15, and the followup to We Still Don’t Trust You, which recently bowed at No. 2.
Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, Hozier bags his first No. 1 with “Too Sweet” (Columbia/Sony), up 2-1. “Too Sweet” is Hozier’s second top 10 appearance on the Australian chart after his signature song “Take Me To Church” reached No. 2 back in 2013. “Too Sweet” also lifted to No. 1 in the U.K. earlier this month, for Hozier’s first leader there.
According to ARIA, Hozier is the fourth solo male singer to reach the top this year on the Australian chart, following U.S. artists Jack Harlow (“Lovin On Me”), Noah Kahan (“Stick Season”) and Benson Boone (“Beautiful Things”).
“Beautiful Things” (via Warner) dips 1-2 on the latest frame, while British EDM producer Artemas holds onto third spot with “I Like The Way You Kiss Me” (10K/ADA).
The top new debut on the ARIA Singles Chart belongs to U.S. pop singer and actor Sabrina Carpenter, whose “Espresso” shoots in at No. 7. “Espresso” (Island/Universal) is the follow-up to “Feather,” which peaked at No. 22 in 2023.
Also appearing for the first time on the ARIA Chart is Dua Lipa’s “Illusion” (Warner UK), new at No. 21.“Illusion” is the third single from the British pop star’s forthcoming third studio album Radical Optimism, following “Houdini” (No. 7 peak) and “Training Session” (No. 12).
Just three months after he last commanded Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, Bad Bunny is back in charge as his single “Perro Negro,” with Feid, jumps 2-1 to rule the April 20-dated ranking. It’s Bad Bunny’s 25th No. 1 and Feid’s sixth.

On the overall Latin Airplay ranking, “Perro Negro” moves ahead of Eladio Carrión’s “TQMQA,” after accruing 9 million audience impressions in the U.S., a 5% gain, in the week ending April 11, according to Luminate. As “Perro Negro” trades places with “TQMQA,” the latter falls to No. 2, after one week in charge, with 8.8 million impressions, that’s an 8% dip from the previous week.

“Perro Negro” earns the gold medal for its first week and joins 13 other songs that hit No. 1 in 2024. Notably, only three out of those rulers secured two weeks or more atop (including Maluma and Carin León’s “Según Quién” which ruled for four weeks between 2023-24) while the other 10 rulers passed on the crown after only one week in charge. “Perro Negro” becomes the fourth song from Bad Bunny’s Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana to hit No. 1 on Latin Airplay, following one-week rulers “Where She Goes” (August 2023), “Un Preview” (Dec. 2023) and “Monaco” (Jan. 27-dated list).
Benito’s Latin Airplay chart run began with the No. 1-peaking “Mayores,” with Becky G, on the Feb. 17, 2018-dated survey. He’s placed at least two No. 1s every year since then, for a total of 25 career rulers out of 47 entries on the ranking. Bad Bunny has the fifth-most No. 1s on Latin Airplay, with J Balvin in the lead with 36 leaders.
Notably, Bad Bunny boasts his longest-leading No. 1s on Latin Airplay through two collabs with acts outside of his core Latin rhythm genre: “Mia,” featuring rapper Drake, and “Un X100to,” with regional Mexican Grupo Frontera, both for six weeks in charge in 2018-19 and 2023, respectively.
Feid, meanwhile, boasts his sixth No. 1 on the radio ranking.
Elsewhere, “Perro Negro” rebounds 6-5 on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs, which combines airplay, streams, and downloads, following two weeks at its No. 2 high beginning last November. The song dips 10-11 on Latin Streaming Songs despite a 1% gain in streaming, to 4.8 million during the tracking period.
Hozier looks set to hold onto the U.K. singles chart title for another week, at least, while Perrie Edwards, Dua Lipa and Sabrina Carpenter are predicted to crash the top 10.

Last Friday, April 12, Hozier topped the chart for the first time in his career with “Too Sweet” (Island), going one better than the No. 2 peak for his signature song “Get Me to the Church” from a decade ago.
According to the Official Charts Company, “Too Sweet” leads the midweek chart, ahead of Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” (Warner Records) and Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” (Columbia/Parkwood Ent), respectively, and is expected to nab a second straight week at No. 1.

Meanwhile, Little Mix’s Perrie has got her solo career off to a strong start with “Forget About Us” (Columbia). It’s new at No. 6 on the Official Chart Update, and could give the British pop artist the top debut for the week. As a member of Little Mix, Perrie has five U.K. No. 1 singles, 19 top 10s and 32 top 40 appearances.
Another chart superstar is close behind, Dua Lipa. The pop singer’s “Illusion” (Warner Records) starts at No. 7 on the Official Chart Update, and should give Lipa a third consecutive top 10 single from her forthcoming album Radical Optimism, due out May 3, and 16th across her career.
U.S. pop singer and actor Sabrina Carpenter could ride a caffeine rush to her first-ever top 10 appearance with “Espresso” (Island). It pours into the chart blast at No. 10. Carpenter has three career top 40 appearances in the U.K., with a best of No. 19 for 2023’s “Feather.”
Finally, Manchester chart heavyweights Oasis could return to the top 40 with “Supersonic” (Big Brother). The Rock Hall nominated group’s debut single this year celebrates its 30th anniversary, and currently sits at No. 14. That’s well up on its peak position of No. 31 following its release back in 1994.

The top debut on the latest ARIA Albums Chart belongs to U.S. rapper J.Cole, as his surprise-release mixtape Might Delete Later (Interscope/Universal) bows at No. 2. It’s the followup to 2021’s The Off-Season, which peaked No. 3, and 2018’s KOD, which went to No. 1 on the ARIA Chart.
The podium is completed by Ariana Grande’s former leader Eternal Sunshine (Universal), down 2-3 in its fifth week on the survey.

Beloved Australian singer and songwriter Missy Higgins returns to the top 10 with her debut The Sound Of White (Eleven: A Music Company/Universal), boosted by the release of a 20th anniversary edition.
Originally issued in 2004, The Sound Of White reigned over the chart for seven non-consecutive weeks and went on to win album of the year at the 2005 ARIA Awards. Her next two LPs, 2007’s On A Clear Night and 2012’s The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle, also reached the chart zenith.
The Sound Of White returns at No. 6 on the ARIA Albums Chart, published Friday, April 12, ahead of the release this September of a new album, The Second Act, which she has described as a “kind of sequel” to her debut.
Also making an impact on the latest chart is American singer and songwriter Conan Gray’s Found Heaven (Universal) at No. 10; U.S. retro psychedelic-lounge trio Khruangbin’s A La Sala (Dead Oceans/RKT), new at No. 14; and Melbourne metalcore group Alpha Wolf’s Half Living Things (CVA/Sony), which opens its account at No. 19.
Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” (Warner Records) locks up top spot again, while the collection from which it is lifted, Fireworks & Rollerblades, arrives at No. 17 on the albums survey. Also, new release “Slow It Down” speeds 35-24 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Finally, British-Cypriot producer Artemas is on the rise, as his U.K. hit “I Like The Way You Kiss Me” (10K/ADA) lifts 7-3 on the ARIA Chart, while his previous single “If U Think I’m Pretty” gains 64-37.
“La Cumbia Triste” is a cause for celebration for Los Ángeles Azules and Alejandro Fernández, who each bank a new No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart, as their first collaboration ascends 3-1 to rule the April 13-dated list.

“La Cumbia Triste” rolls to No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay boosted by a 13% gain in audience impressions, to 7 million, earned in the U.S. in the week ending April 4, according to Luminate. The song sends Christian Nodal and Peso Pluma’s “La Intención” to No. 5, after two weeks in charge, with a 41% decrease in impressions, to 4.6 million.

As “La Cumbia Triste” seizes the throne on Regional Mexican Airplay, Los Ángeles Azules adds their fourth career No. 1. Further, they extend its span of hits to 24 years, dating to the the cumbia sonidera group’s first week at No. 1 on Feb. 3, 2004, when “El Listón De Tu Pelo” commenced a seven-week reign. Fernández, meanwhile, collects his eighth No. 1, and first through a collaboration in almost two years, since “Nunca Dudes en Llamarme,” with La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho, ruled for one week in Sept. 2022. In between, “No Es Que Me Quiera Ir” and “Difícil Tu Caso” led for one week each last August and November, respectively.
In total, two other co-billed songs from Fernández have topped Regional Mexican Airplay: “Decepciones,” with Calibre 50 (one week, Oct. 2020) and “Duele,” with Christian Nodal (one week, April 2021).
“La Cumbia Triste” will appear on Los Ángeles Azules’ forthcoming 30th studio album, Se Agradece, to be released April 12. Two other top 10-charting songs previewed the project: “Tú y Tú,” with Cazzu and Sant Fe Klan, an equal Regional Mexican Airplay winner, for one week in charge (May 2023) and “El Amor de Mi Vida,” with Maria Becerra, which nearly missed the penthouse, reaching No. 2 last October.
The news arrives in midst of Los Ángeles Azules’ 31-date El Amor De Mi Vida tour which kicked off in Nashville, TN. on Feb. 13 and will take the Mejía Avante family to a double booking on Napa County, CA on June 1-2.
Beyond its Regional Mexican Airplay coronation, “La Cumbia Triste” rebounds to its No. 5 high on the overall Latin Airplay chart (lifts 9-5) thanks to a 12% gain, to 8 million.
