Vybz Kartel has returned to the U.S. for the first time after 20 years in prison to perform two sold-out shows in Brooklyn, N.Y. We go behind the scenes with the King of Dancehall to see how he feels about being back on tour, his show essentials and more!

Did you see Vybz Kartel live? Let us know in the comments below!

Vybz Kartel:Hi, my name is blank. Wagwan. My name is Vybz Kartel, and I’m here in Brooklyn with Billboard. Where are you?

Interviewer:All right, World Boss, how does it feel to be back in New York?

It feels blessed, you know, because, remember, it’s been 20 years, so for me to be here now, it’s just a feeling of jubilation. It’s a triumphant feeling.

Team Member:This is for you. Congratulations, two sold-out shows, where you need to be love, where the people are.

I’m here with my family, not just my family, family. I’m here with CJ, the promoter, she’s family as well. TJ, Scatter, the whole crew. It feels amazing, and I feel blessed.

What do you remember about the last time you performed in New York?

Sir, I do not remember anything. But in my defense, it’s been 20 years. But if you’re talking about, like, being in the streets mingling with the people from Bronx to Brooklyn to Queens, Flatbush, I’m in White Plains, so it’s giving nostalgia.

What are your dressing room essentials?

My dressing room essentials are beautiful women, expensive clothes and God around us.

What does your preshow routine look like?

Drinking with beautiful women, expensive clothes and God around us.

What song are you most excited to perform?

Oh, “Brooklyn Anthem.” Come on, this is BK.

LISA collaborated with 100 Thieves, and we take you inside the exclusive pop-up, where the global pop star even made an appearance. With the venue LISA’ed out from the side of the building to the merch, keep watching for everything you missed at the 100 Thieves x LISA pop-up!

Fan 1:

Pretty surreal experience that I won’t forget.

Tetris Kelly:

We got to hang with LISA and her fans — oh, and adorable dogs — at the 100 Thieves pop-up in LA, and from the moment the queen walked in, she had us shook.

Fan 2:

She’s gorgeous, different, like her aura was unreal.

Tetris Kelly:

We take you there for Billboard All Access. The pop-up had everything a fan could need. There was, of course, photo moments, where you could be your best rock star, and you could take the time to listen to each of LISA’s alter egos from her brand-new album. Can we take a second to talk about the merch? So much merch. They had her albums, light sticks, there were hoodies and adorable T-shirts. There were even games, because 100 Thieves is at the center of bringing games, culture and music together.

Fan 3:

When I heard they were doing one with LISA, I was like, you could not pick a better collab together to really kind of bridge that gaming vibe. The side of the building is covered in her face, which is insane.

Tetris Kelly:

And the fans were loving it.

Fan 4:

She’s so talented. She’s so cool.

Fan 2:

She went from performing at the Oscars, doing that whole thing, the James Bond thing, and then she’s here, like, 24 hours later. And I was just like, wait, that’s insane.

Billboard is at Rolling Loud Los Angeles, and from the vibes to the interviews with the artists and seeing them on stage, we take you there in “Billboard All Access.”

Cash Cobain:

Rolling Loud is from California. I see the palm trees. It’s beautiful. It’s amazing. I’m about to go perform right now, so, you know what I’m saying, it’s feeling good right now.

Tetris Kelly:

Before making it to the headliners, we had to check out the vibes at Hollywood Park, and fans were taking advantage of actual carnival rides, in addition to getting their hair and looks on point at multiple activations with tattoos and more. And don’t forget karaoke. There were also real artists backstage before their big sets.

DDG:

I just want to be one of the ones that come out here one day. And you know, I’m not pulling up at three o’clock, I’m pulling up at the SoFi Stadium doing — hell out of my own s—. You know what I mean?

Tetris Kelly:

Also you’re on the track with headliner Playboi Carti, man. Billboard ranked it the eighth best song out of the 30 songs. So how was it to work with my boy?

Cash Cobain:

Shout out to “FINE S—” man. For sure.

Tetris Kelly:

How is it to see, like, your peers out in the crowd and stuff at performances?

Derrick Milano:

It’s like you see them in the elements, and you see all the work and the hard work that’s put in, and you just appreciate who they are as artists and what you do.

Tetris Kelly:

And do you actually care about any of the other headliners that’s played, like anybody’s set you are trying to see before you bounce out tonight?

Tetris Kelly:Billboard‘s resident WWE expert Carl Lamarre went to Monday Night RAW at Madison Square Garden to check on the fans after an eventful few weeks, and we take you there [with] Billboard All Access. As people lined up to head into the venue, we stopped to ask them a few questions.

Fan 6:I got Cena, man. I gotta ride with him, man.

Fan 7:John Cena, all day, come on, man. The day he turned heel. Next day, I felt different. I woke up feeling different. Do you feel me?

Fan 2:I’m sorry, guys. Cody Rhodes, you can’t see him.

Rich the Kid:John Cena.

Tetris Kelly:Now, if you know, you know, so after his massive debut in the ring last week, we had to ask.

Carl Lamarre:What about Travis Scott or Bad Bunny?

Fan 1:Bunny, what Bad Bunny? We’re Boricuas, we gotta go Bad Bunny. Way to go, Bad Bunny.
