Karol G will perform at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, taking place Sunday, Nov. 19. The Colombian hitmaker — who’s had a massive year, scoring her first Billboard 200 leader with Mañana Será Bonito — is set to perform a trio of songs.
The global star is up for five Billboard Music Awards, including top Latin artist, top Latin female artist, top Latin touring artist, top Latin album (Mañana Será Bonito) and top Latin song (“TQG” with Shakira). Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito, released in February, made history as the first all Spanish-language album by a female artist to top the Billboard 200. The set includes her unprecedented collaboration with Shakira, “TQG,” which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. This year, Karol also went on her first-ever U.S. stadium tour, which included stops in major markets such as Miami, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Earlier this week, Peso Pluma — also up for top Latin artist — was announced as a performer for the 2023 BBMAs. The Mexican star will perform “Rubicón” with a special guest appearance by boxing legend Mike Tyson. NewJeans and Bebe Rexha & David Guetta have also been announced as performers.

With nods in 20 categories, Taylor Swift is the top finalist at the 2023 BBMAs. Morgan Wallen and SZA are runners-up, with 17 entries each. They are followed by The Weeknd (16); Drake and Zach Bryan (14); Luke Combs (10); 21 Savage, Metro Boomin and Miley Cyrus (nine each); Beyoncé and Rema (seven each); Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma (six each); and Ariana Grande, David Guetta, Eslabon Armado, Karol G, NewJeans and Selena Gomez (five each). See the complete list of finalists here.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards Presented by Marriott Bonvoy — which will be produced by dick clark productions — will have a first-of-its-kind collaboration with Spotify “Fans First,” which will bring fans up close and personal with their favorite artists. Performances and awards will roll out across the BBMAs and Billboard social channels, as well as via BBMAs.watch on Sunday, Nov. 19. Billboard Music Awards performers will be revealed daily on BBMAs social channels.

One special BBMAs performance and two exclusive acceptance speeches will be hosted at hotel brands within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. Additionally, Marriott Bonvoy will be providing a select group of fans access to attend five BBMAs performances via Marriott Bonvoy Moments. Other sponsors include Lexus, who will be surprising one lucky fan with VIP treatment with a private ride in a luxury Lexus vehicle to the one-of-a-kind performance.

Maya:Well, we’ve been inspired by a lot of groups but maybe TLC, Destiny’s Child and Spice Girls. The evolution of girl power.

Jurin:I think the fundamental haven’t changed.

Maya:It hasn’t changed I agree, I agree.

Jurin:I think defining yourself in a certain way.

Maya:Don’t limit yourself.

Jurin:Yeah not being bound by any boundaries or anything like that is what I believe is the fundamental aspect of girl power.Whenever I decide on an outfit, I always try to project the image I want to become. For today’s Billboard interview, I went with something a bit more mature and colorful and added a bit of playful touch.Destiny’s Child, TLC and Aaliyah. I love them. I love new challenges, and I like to set my mind to something and just get on with it. So I call myself Active Gal.Well for me personally it means having my own style and loving myself. I think that’s what girl power is.

Harvey:We all have very different personalities and things we really like. Each of us have to remember what we’re really into. Taking time to do what you like to do? I think we are doing that individually. I’m the same with COCONA and HINATA but I also try to draw pictures. I also like to read books and do other things that I really like.

Bad Bunny is ready to sing a new song live on Oct. 5 for the first time, when he takes the stage at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards.
Billboard and Telemundo announced Thursday (Sept. 28) that the Puerto Rican superstar will be part of the ceremony at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida. The show will be broadcast live on Telemundo and simultaneously on the Spanish entertainment cable network Universo, on Peacock and on the Telemundo app. Throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, it will be available on Telemundo Internacional.

They didn’t specify what song Bad Bunny will be performing, but it says in a press release that the hitmaker “will set the stage on fire at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards with a worldwide premiere.” His most recent release is the reggaetón banger “Un Preview,” which just came out Monday.

The singer of “Tití Me Preguntó” and “Me Porto Bonito,” a 15-time finalist at this year’s Latin Billboards, joins a stellar list of artists confirmed to sing at the gala, including Calibre 50, Chiquis, Eddy Lover, El Alfa, Eladio Carrión, Farruko, Grupo Frontera, Justin Quiles, La Factoría, Los Ángeles Azules, Manuel Turizo, Marc Anthony, Marshmello, Olga Tañón, Los Sebastianes, Myke Towers, Nicki Nicole, Pepe Aguilar, Peso Pluma, Sky Rompiendo, Sofía Reyes, Tini, Ximena Sariñana, Yandel and Yng Lvcas.

Mexican music sensation Peso Pluma leads the list of finalists with 21 nods across 15 categories, including Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year and Top Latin Album of the Year. His collaboration with Eslabon Armado, “Ella Baila Sola,” is up for six awards, including Hot Latin Song of the Year, Global 200 Latin Song of the Year and Sales Song of the Year. And his hit with Yng Lvcas, “La Bebe,” competes in five categories, including Hot Latin Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year.

Following Peso Pluma are Bad Bunny and Grupo Frontera with 15 nods each, including four together for their collab “un X100to,” while Karol G has 13, and Shakira and Fuerza Regida have 12 each. See the complete list of finalists here.

Among the special honorees, Los Ángeles Azules will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Latin Billboard Music Awards 2023, while Ivy Queen will be recognized with the Icon Award. Colombian superstar Karol G will be honored with the Spirit of Hope Award in recognition of her commitment to civic, community and humanitarian causes through her Con Cora Foundation.

As has been the case for more than 20 years, the Billboard Latin Music Awards coincide with Billboard’s annual Latin Music Week, the single largest and most important gathering of the Latin music industry, taking place Oct. 2-6. The event will feature panels, conversations and workshops at the Faena Forum and exclusive performances and fan experiences throughout the week in Miami. Shakira, Myke Towers, Vico C, Grupo Frontera, Peso Pluma, Nicki Nicole, RBD and many more are confirmed to participate.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards is shifting from its regular spring slot for a new fall date.
One of the biggest music events on the U.S. calendar, the BBMAs is set for Nov. 19, with further details on the show to be announced at a later date, organizers Billboard and Dick Clark Productions announced today (March 16).

The switch-up will see the BBMAs return to the cooler months, a traditional spot for the ceremony’s early years. From its debut in 1990 through to 2006, the BBMAs took place in December. Then, every edition from 2011 onwards was held in May, with the exception of the pandemic-interrupted 2020 show, which rolled out in October.

The forthcoming event is the followup to the 2022 BBMAs, held last May 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs.

On that occasion, the Weeknd (17 nominations) and Doja Cat (14) entered the ceremony as the top two finalists. Olivia Rodrigo won seven awards, Ye (formerly Kanye West) bagged six, Drake and Justin Bieber both claimed five, Taylor Swift snagged four, and BTS emerged with three awards, more than any other group or duo that time.

The BBMAs celebrates the hottest names in contemporary music today, with winners determined by performance on the Billboard charts.

Awards for the 2023 BBMAs are based on music consumption reflected on Billboard’s charts dated Nov. 19, 2022 through Oct. 21, 2023, and take into account key fan interactions with music, including audio and video streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay and touring.
