For the past few weeks, Hit-Boy has been on his grizzly dropping off new videos featuring his homie, Big Hit, but today the producer extraordinaire/rapper is going it solo for a minute to show he can do it all by himself.

Dropping off some new visuals to “Sunrise,” Hit-Boy hits up a Happy Mart convivence store with two attractive young women who run the spot while Hit drops his bars at the store window. Those ain’t Snickers bars either, b.

Elsewhere Wiz Khalifa seems more than content to be living the bachelor lifestyle as is evident in his clip to “Close Frame” where he throws himself a pool party with hella snow bunnies who may not know how to twerk, but can smoke and get lit with the best of them.

Lisa Marie Presley’s Daughter Riley Keough Named Sole Trustee of Estate

Riley Keough has been named the sole trustee of her late mother Lisa Marie Presley’s estate, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Daisy Jones & The Six actress moved to approve the deal on Monday (June 12) in Los Angeles Superior Court, and her grandmother Priscilla Presley will be paid an undisclosed amount to drop her petition challenging a 2016 amendment to her late daughter’s will that replaced her as a co-trustee. She argued that the amendment was never delivered to her while her daughter was alive, as required by the trust’s terms.

Following the death of her father Elvis Presley and his parents, Lisa Marie became the sole inheritor to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s estate, which was managed by Priscilla, who was married to Elvis from 1967 to 1973. When the trust was dissolved on Lisa Marie’s 25th birthday in 1993, she formed a new trust to continue the management of the estate with Priscilla Presley as co-trustee.

Lisa Marie died at age 54 on Jan. 12 after being hospitalized for suffering cardiac arrest. “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla said in a statement announcing the news. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

Peso Pluma Announces New Album’s Release Date & Unveils Tracklist

Peso Pluma is set to drop his new album, Genesis, on June 22, the música Mexicana star announced today (June 13). The “Por Las Noches” singer also unveiled the set’s star-studded tracklist with songs featuring some of his go-to collaborators such as Natanael Cano, Junior H, Luis R Conriquez and Jasiel Nuñez.

While it’s not his debut album — the Guadalajara-born artist released Ah Y Qué? in 2020 and a year later Efectos Secundarios — it feels like a momentous LP given the winning streak that has catapulted him to the top of the charts in the last few months.

Rapidly becoming a household name in the U.S. and beyond, Peso has now become the first artist to dominate both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global 200 Excl. U.S. simultaneously with two different songs: The blockbuster hit “Ella Baila Sola” with Eslabon Armado and his unprecedented “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 55” with Bizarrap, which dropped in May.

The album announcement comes weeks after his collab with Argentine producer Bizarrap who, thanks to Peso, experiments with regional Mexican music for the first time for one of his music sessions. The song scored the Mexican singer his ninth top 10 song on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart. Elsewhere, “Vol. 55” makes its No. 31 debut on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 ranking dated June 17.

Peso Pluma is currently on his first-ever U.S. tour. The Live-Nation-produced stint kicked off in April and will make stops in Nashville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Last week on Black Ink Crew, Puma, and Teddy narrowed their search for new tattoo artists to eight. This week the new bosses of the Black Ink brand moved their recruits into a big a** mansion, and one of the OGs is still big mad.

Black Ink Crew, Meets The Real World & Big Brother

To find new artists to help usher in the new era of Black Ink, Puma, and Teddy decide to take some cues from the Real World and Big Brother and move the seven lucky tattoo artists plus one piercer into a mansion that Puma’s friend, Daymond John helped him secure.

Puma and Teddy make it abundantly clear that not all of them will make it to the new shop.

This is a different way than they are used to when selecting artists, but Puma and Teddy feel it was the right decision. Puma has an event lined up for the recruits at Cookies in New York City. Unfortunately, not all of the artists will be selected to participate. One of them, Made Rich, is BIG MAD that he was not chosen but eventually comes to grips that he will not be participating in the first event.

Meanwhile, Teddy links up with Alex and Spyda because he feels it would be an excellent idea for the original Black Ink artists to be in the building to help out, but he has no idea that his plan will backfire epically.

Spyda & Puma Clash

The event goes well, with the recruits making a great impression on their potential bosses, but the positive vibes quickly disappear when Sypder and Alex show up.

Puma feels Spyder’s chance to be a part of the new Black Ink is gone after he initially said no to the idea of Black Ink moving out of the hood and proudly showed his allegiance to Ceaser.

Spyda loses his cool when he senses that Puma doesn’t want him to be at the event, and Puma asks Teddy why Spyder is at the event if they don’t need his help.

The loud tattoo artist engages in a one-sided shouting match with Puma before Teddy tells him to follow him outside before things get physical.

As he leaves, he can hear Puma saying the new artists at the event tattoo better than him, and Spyder loses it, calling him a fake boss and telling him to suck his, you know what.

Madonna Joins Elite Company With Hot 100 Hits in Five Distinct Decades, Thanks to ‘Popular’ Debut

Madonna joins exclusive company in having hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart in five distinct decades, as “Popular,” with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti, debuts on the June 17-dated list.

With the entrance, Madonna has debuted songs on the Hot 100 in the 1980s, ‘90s, 2000s, ’10s and now ‘20s.

Among women, Madonna joins Cher as the only women to have debuted titles on the Hot 100 in five separate decades, with Cher’s history on the chart spanning the ‘60s through the ‘00s.

(Brenda Lee is the only other woman to have appeared on the Hot 100 in five distinct decades; she debuted songs in the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s, while her chestnut “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” has re-entered annually in the ‘10s and ‘20s.)

“Popular” debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 43 with 10.1 million official streams, 2 million airplay audience impressions and 4,000 sold in the United States in its first week (June 2-8), according to Luminate.

The song, released June 2 on HBO/XO/Republic Records, is from the new HBO drama The Idol, which premiered June 4 and stars The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp and Dan Levy, among others.

“Madonna … Madge. She’s the ultimate co-sign for this song, for this album and for this TV show,” The Weeknd beamed to Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe on June 2.

Here’s a look at the elite artists that have appeared on the Hot 100 in five or more decades. Three stars have done so in six decades: Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney and Elvis Presley, with all three having extended their runs to a sixth decade each in the ‘20s thanks to seasonal re-entries. (Acts below designated with an asterisk likewise expanded their chart histories to a fifth decade each also via seasonal songs’ or other revived titles’ re-entries).

Notably, Jackson and McCartney have been visitors to the Hot 100 in seven distinct decades each, additionally considering their runs in groups in the ‘60s: Jackson, thanks to the Jackson 5, and McCartney, via the Beatles.

The Queen of Pop adds her 58th Hot 100 hit, the seventh-most among women since the chart began with the survey dated Aug. 4, 1958. (It was a historic month for music; along with the Hot 100’s bow, Madonna was born Aug. 16, 1958, and Jackson, Aug. 29.) Taylor Swift leads all women with 190 Hot 100 entries, followed by Nicki Minaj (129), Beyoncé (81), Aretha Franklin, Ariana Grande (73 each) and Rihanna (63). (Madonna breaks out of a tie with Miley Cyrus, who has logged 57 appearances.)

Madonna boasts her highest Hot 100 rank since 2012, when “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” featuring Minaj and M.I.A., hit No. 10, becoming her then-record 38th top 10. (Drake and Swift now have the only higher top 10 totals: 68 and 40, respectively.)

Concurrently, “Popular” debuts at No. 6 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart, marking Madonna’s first appearance since the survey originated in 2012. On Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, it opens at No. 16, becoming her first entry since 1995. She claims her second-highest-charting Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs hit, after only “Like a Virgin” (No. 9, 1985). She has also reached the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs top 20 with “Vogue” (No. 16, 1990) and “Like a Prayer” (No. 20, 1989).

Meanwhile, Madonna has released new songs in consecutive weeks. Following the June 2 arrival of “Popular,” her team-up with Sam Smith, “Vulgar,” was released June 9. The tracks follow Madonna’s March 20 tease that she was working on new music with fellow pop titan Max Martin.

Billboard 2022: The Covers

2022 was a big year for music, and it reflected on Billboard‘s magazine covers throughout the year.

Post Malone kicked off 2022’s covers by opening the doors to his Utah home, and the rest of the year featured intimate conversations with stars like SZA, Anitta, Sam Smith, Bad Bunny and many more.

To celebrate Women in Music, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Madonna were transformed into NFTs, and Billboard kept up with current events by diving into the Roe v. Wade overturn and Snapchat’s future.

Stray Kids also graced the cover in September, marking one of the year’s most popular issues. “What I can say is, we’re definitely trying to put on a good impression and be as genuine as we can for people who look up to us,” Bang Chan said in the accompanying feature of the group’s global superstardom. “Our goal ever since we debuted was to reach as many ‘stray kids’ as possible. To deliver our music and give strength to people who really need it.”

Doing that is not supporting me.” If you remember earlier this year, Selena had to tell her fans to leave Hailey alone after they thought her ex’s wife was dissing the pop star. The Silversun Pickups are returning to Southern California for their second visit in less than a year, performing at the new Bellwether music venue in Los Angeles on Sept. 27.

The critically acclaimed LA-based indie rock group, led by vocalist and guitarist Brian Aubert, along with bassist Nikki Monninger, drummer Christopher Guanlao and keyboardist Joe Lester, are touring in support of their sixth studio album Physical Thrills. Released in August, Physical Thrills is Silversun Pickups second album produced by legendary American musician, songwriter, and record producer Butch Vig and is the third album to be released on their own label, New Machine Recordings.

Much of the music on Physical Thrills was written by Aubert during the pandemic and, earlier this month, the band announced the release their new EP Acoustic Thrills, featuring acoustic tracks from Physical Thrills: “Scared Together,” “Empty Nest” and “Alone on a Hill.”

“After building so many layers on the album it felt great to strip these songs down to their rawest form,” Monninger said in a press release announcing the album.

Yesterday, the Silversun Pickups announced a Sept. 29 concert at The Show inside of Agua Caliente in Rancho Mirage, Calif., near Palm Springs. Best known for their 2006 songs  “Lazy Eye” and “Well Thought Out Twinkles” both of which made the top 10 of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart in 2007, and their 2009 track “Panic Switch,” Silversun Pickups last played Los Angeles on Oct. 3 at the Orpheum Theater.

The Bellwether, a 1,600-capacity GA venue and joint venture between leading U.S. indie concert promoter Another Planet Entertainment and Teragram Ballroom owner Michael Swier, opens July 11 with a show from Phantogram. Located at 333 S. Boylston Street, the Bellwether’s opening run of shows includes two performances from HAIM (July 17-18), three nights of Porter Robinson (July 28-30), three nights with Carly Rae Jepson (Aug 12-14) and two nights with Isiah Rashad, August 17-18.

Cardi B Strikes Back, Kesha v. Dr. Luke, Dua Lipa Case Closed & More of the Week’s Biggest Legal Stories

THE BIG STORY: Don’t Mess With Cardi B (Or Her Lawyers)

Omar Little, the notorious Baltimore stick-up man who robs drug dealers on HBO’s The Wire, once famously said: “You come at the king, you best not miss.” Well, that same sentiment seems to be increasingly true about Cardi B and her team of lawyers: If you come at her, you better be sure you’re ready for the consequences.

Back in 2017, a guy named Kevin Brophy did exactly that, suing the superstar for millions in damages. His case claimed that Cardi had left him “humiliated” after an image of his enormous back tattoo was inadvertently photoshopped onto the “raunchy” cover of her debut mixtape, Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1.

But now, six years later, it’s Brophy who’s paying Cardi, not the other way around.

Months after a federal jury rejected his lawsuit, Brophy agreed this week to hand over a whopping $350,000 in legal bills that the superstar spent defeating his case. He also agreed to voluntarily end his efforts to revive the case and waived any chance at a future appeal.

For Cardi, turning the tables on Brophy is just the latest financial trouncing of a legal opponent.

Late last month, a gossip blogger named Tasha K who made salacious claims against the rapper was forced to file for bankruptcy after Cardi B won more than $3 million in a defamation lawsuit against her. Shortly after Cardi won that verdict, she tweeted “imma come for everything” along with the acronym BBHMM — “bitch better have my money” — and then spent months chasing the cash, including seizing money from Tasha’s YouTube royalty account.

The takeaway? At least when it comes to legal matters: You come at the queen, you best not miss.

KESHA v. DR. LUKE RULING – New York’s top appeals court handed a key victory to Kesha in her legal battle with Dr. Luke, making it more difficult for him to prove at a looming trial that she defamed the producer when she accused him of rape in 2014. The court said Dr. Luke was a “public figure,” meaning he will need to show that Kesha acted with “actual malice” when she made her statements — a notoriously difficult legal hurdle to clear.

DUA LIPA CASE CLOSED – A Florida reggae band called Artikal Sound System decided to drop its copyright case accusing Dua Lipa of copying her smash hit song “Levitating” from their earlier track. The move — a unilateral capitulation, not a confidential cash settlement — came just days after a federal judge cast serious doubt on whether Artikal would be able to prove that Lipa ever even heard the song she was accused of stealing.

JIMMIE ALLEN SUED AGAIN – The country star was hit with a second sexual abuse lawsuit, claiming he assaulted a woman in a Las Vegas hotel room and filmed the encounter without permission. The case came a month after Allen was accused of sexually harassing and raping a woman on his management team. Allen has strongly denied the allegations and has vowed to “mount a vigorous defense.”

TORY LANEZ SENTENCING – Los Angeles prosecutors formally asked a judge to impose a 13-year prison sentence on Tory Lanez after he was convicted last year of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, telling a judge that Lanez had “waged a campaign to humiliate and re-traumatize the victim” in the wake of the 2020 incident. Sentencing had been set for this week but was rescheduled to Aug 7.

MUSIC AS SEX DISCRIMINATION – The Ninth Circuit issued a first-of-its-kind ruling that said blasting music with “sexually graphic” and “violently misogynistic” lyrics in a workplace could violate federal discrimination laws. Reviving a case against a company that played songs like Too $hort‘s “Blowjob Betty” and Eminem‘s “Stan” at its Nevada warehouse, the court said the music potentially created a “hostile or abusive environment.”

COURT RIPS BAD SETTLEMENT – In another big music ruling, the Ninth Circuit overturned a class action settlement in a royalties lawsuit against the relaunched Napster, sharply criticizing an “unreasonable” deal that secured just $53,000 for songwriters while paying their lawyers a whopping $1.7 million in legal fees. The court said that paying attorneys “more than 30 times the amount that the class received” was likely to “make the average person shake her head in disbelief.”

YOUTUBE CASE DROPPED – Just a day before it had been set to go to trial, a Grammy Award-winning composer dropped her closely-watched lawsuit against YouTube over access to its anti-piracy tools like Content ID. The ruling came weeks after a federal judge gutted the case by refusing to let it move forward as a class action — a ruling the composer had said would “gravely undermine” the goals of her lawsuit.

ASTROWORLD GAG ORDER STANDS – A Texas appeals court refused to lift a strict gag order on the lawsuit over the deadly 2021 disaster at Travis Scott‘s Astroworld festival. The court was unmoved by arguments from ABC News, which argued that the “sweeping” restrictions clearly violated the First Amendment’s protections on free speech and had created a “news desert” in which almost no reliable information about an important case is being shared with the public.

COVID RELIEF HIJINKS? The owners of a small Palm Springs, Calif., venue filed a lawsuit against Marc Geiger and his company SaveLive, claiming the former WME agent deceived them into accepting an investment in their venue during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of a ruse to take over the business without paying a fair price.
