Gwen Stefani Shares Rare Photos of Son Zuma for 15th Birthday Tribute: ‘We Love U’

“Happy 15th birthday Zuma !!! We love u more than anything,” Stefani captioned the video — set to Zach Bryan’s 2022 track “Something in the Orange” — which featured sweet snaps of Zuma in his earlier stages of life, from missing teeth as a platinum-haired young boy to outgrowing the hair color and growing taller than his rock-star mother in his teen years. In one of the photos in the video, Zuma sweetly shows off a drawing that he made of an animal while posing for the camera alongside Stefani’s husband, Blake Shelton.

Stefani shares Zuma — and her two other children, Kingston and Apollo — with ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale. The No Doubt singer was married to the Bush frontman for 13 years — and dated for nearly six years before tying the knot — before ultimately separating in 2015.

Stefani’s Instagram post serves as yet another look into the life of her three children. Earlier this month, 17-year-old Kingston made the rounds on TikTok after giving a live performance at his stepdad’s Oklahoma bar, Ole Red, to sing a song for those in attendance. Following his song, Shelton appeared on stage and gave Kingston a hug.

Hot 100 First-Timers: Warren Zeiders Scores First Entry With ‘Pretty Little Poison’

Singer-songwriter Warren Zeiders notches his first Billboard Hot 100 chart hit, as “Pretty Little Poison” debuts at No. 86.

The song, released in March through 717/Warner/WEA, arrives with 5.8 million U.S. streams (up 17%), 3.3 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 10%) and 1,000 downloads sold (up 1%) in the Aug. 11-17 tracking week, according to Luminate. It also rises 38-37 on Country Airplay, having become Zeider’s first entry on the survey.

The song’s recent gains can partly be attributed to hype leading up to the release of Zeiders’ debut studio album, Pretty Little Poison, which includes “Poison,” on Aug. 18.

TikTok has been a factor in the song’s growing profile, as a portion of the track has been used in over 65,000 clips to date. (TikTok does not presently contribute directly to Billboard‘s charts.)

“Poison” concurrently pushes 24-22 on Hot Country Songs, marking Zeider’s highest-charting entry. He previously charted five songs on the list: “Ride the Lightning (717 Tapes)” (No. 30 peak in 2021); “Outskirts of Heaven,” featuring Craig Campbell (No. 49, 2021); “Dark Night (717 Tapes)” (No. 40, 2022); “Wild Horse (717 Tapes)” (No. 35, 2022); and “Up to No Good” (No. 50, 2022).

Zeiders (real name: Brady Zeiders), from Hershey, Pennsylvania, scored his first Billboard chart appearance with “Ride the Lightning (717 Tapes)” in July 2021. The song went viral on TikTok, ahead of its Hot Country Songs debut, and led to a record deal with Warner.

“Warren is a gifted songwriter and storyteller, has the confidence and drive to work harder than anyone, understands all the modern tools at an artist’s fingertips to market and promote themselves, and is just a great human being,” Aaron Bay-Schuck, co-chairman and CEO of Warner Records, said upon Zeiders’ signing. “We just had the best time getting to know one another and both [co-chairman/COO] Tom [Corson] and I felt that Warner Records was a natural fit for Warren.”

Ariana & Demi Split From Scooter Braun, Rihanna & A$AP Rocky Baby No. 2 & More | Billboard News

Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato have split from manager Scooter Braun. Rihanna & A$AP Rocky have reportedly welcomed their second child together. Justin Timberlake is showing off his acting chops in the trailer for Netflix’s ‘Reptile,’ as *NSYNC is rumored to reunite in ‘Trolls Band Back Together.’ And more!

Tetris Kelly:
Scooter Braun loses some of his top clients, Rihanna welcomes baby number two, Justin Timberlake flexes his acting skills, Erika Jayne talks her new Vegas residency, and we learned five things about Killer Mike.

It’s Tuesday, August 22nd, and welcome to Billboard News. Today is full of updates so let’s jump right into our first story.

We learned Scooter Braun has lost both Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande as clients on the same day. Demi Lovato has been managed by Scooter Braun since 2019 and Ariana, who’s been with Braun since 2013, have decided to cut ties with Scooter. It’s unclear what led to the pop stars’ departures, but reps for Demi, Ariana and Scooter all declined to comment. They aren’t the first to drop Scooter as a manager. J Balvin, who was also signed with Braun in 2019, left SB Projects back in May. This all comes just days after rumors circulated online that Justin Bieber, Scooter’s most famous client, was also seeking new management. Last Friday, reps for both Justin and Scooter said the rumors were not true. With Demi and Ariana’s departure, Scooter is still left with a stacked list of clients including acts like Tori Kelly and Dan + Shay.

And if you thought that was interesting, you won’t believe what we have next! Congratulations are in order for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, as the couple just welcomed their second child together.

NewJeans Take It Back to Debut Days, Dancing to ‘Hype Boy’ With BTS’ V: Watch

Another day, another dance video from the girls of NewJeans! On Monday (Aug. 21), the K-pop group — Danielle, Haerin, Hanni, Hyein and Minji — hit the dance studio to film a TikTok of them dancing to their viral song “Hype Boy,” this time with a special guest in tow.

Instead of the girls leading the video, BTSV first appears onscreen in a blue-and-pink plaid shirt, matching pink wide-leg pants and white sneakers throwing a peace sign before the track’s infectious chorus hits. The quintet then pops up around V to join him in the choreography, with the BTS members adding his own swag to the dance moves as he leads in the center.

“‘Cause I know what you like, boy/ You’re my chemical hype boy/ Open my eyes to see old days gone like a dream/ Hype boy, all I wanna/ Hype boy, gonna tell ya,” Haerin and Hanni’s voices boom from studio speakers, as they all strike a pose by the end of the post-chorus of the track.

Fans in the comments section were delighted to see the BTS member alongside the NewJeans, with one writing, “I can’t V-lieve this is happening,” and another adding, “tae dance’s so smooth and chill yet so captivating that you can’t get your eyes off him while dancing.”

V joining BTS comes less than a week after Jimin — who rarely posts to social media — joined Hanni and Danielle to perform the energetic choreo of NewJeans’ “ETA,” also on TikTok. NewJeans’ connection to the boys of BTS is through HYBE; the quintet’s independent label ADOR rests under the HYBE umbrella.

Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Bad Idea Right?’ Debuts Atop Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart

Olivia Rodrigo launches at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart for a second time, as “Bad Idea Right?” debuts atop the Aug. 26-dated survey.

The singer-songwriter first led with “Brutal,” which reigned in its debut week in June 2021.

“Bad Idea Right?” concurrently bows as Rodrigo’s second No. 1, again after “Brutal,” on Hot Alternative Songs. Both charts reflect streaming, sales and all-format radio audience impressions, sharing the same methodology as the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

In the tracking week ending Aug. 17, “Bad Idea Right?,” released Aug. 11, earned 19.7 million official U.S. streams and 5.3 million radio audience impressions and sold 4,000 downloads, according to Luminate.

The streaming count is also good for the track’s No. 1 debut, Rodrigo’s second, on Alternative Streaming Songs. “Brutal” likewise led that list, for two weeks. On Alternative Digital Song Sales, “Bad Idea Right?” enters at No. 2.

Concurrently, “Bad Idea Right?” starts at No. 10 on the Hot 100, marking Rodrigo’s sixth top 10. Three have reached No. 1: “Drivers License” (for eight weeks) and “Good 4 U” (one week) in 2021 and “Vampire” (one) this July.

On the all-genre Streaming Songs tally, “Bad Idea Right?” opens at No. 3 as the top premiere of the week. On Digital Song Sales, it starts at No. 18. The song also debuts at No. 36 on Pop Airplay.

“Bad Idea Right?” is the second song released from Guts, Rodrigo’s sophomore LP, following “Vampire.” It’s due Sept. 8.

Pack A Lunch: Fyre Festival 2 Tickets Reportedly On Sale

HipHopWired Featured Video

Celebrity Sightings In Los Angeles - July 13, 2023 - Fyre Festival co-founder

Fyre Festival, the epic event that was replete with struggle, is making a triumphant return according to its founder. Billy McFarland shared that he’s putting on part two of the beleaguered festival, promising that this time around won’t be a repeat of the last.

We’ve documented the trials and tribulations of the first Fyre Festival, which McFarland and rapper Ja Rule partnered on to bring to the masses. The event promised a bevy of top entertainment acts, lodging, food, and the like but the reality was far from what was advertised. This time, McFarland is drumming up interest on social media although he has yet to share any actual details.

“It really all started in a seven-month stint in solitary confinement,” McFarland begins in his video announcement. “I wrote out this 50-page plan of how it would take this overall interest and demand in Fyre, and how it would take my ability to bring people from around the world together to make the impossible happen.”

While McFarland puffs his chest out and says he’s working with new partners that will bring the Fyre Festival 2 vision to life, he is purposefully vague in his message but does mention that there is a Broadway music based on the festival in development.

Fyre Festival is on schedule to materialize in 2024 in the Caribbean, with pop-up events happening around the globe in the lead-up to the event. No word yet on who is taking care of the food or lodging, but we’d urge travelers to pack a lunch and an air mattress just in case.

Oliver Anthony Is Becoming a ‘Rich Man,’ Too, As an Independent Musician With a No. 1 Hit

In two weeks, Oliver Anthony went from an unknown artist to the owner of the No. 1 track on the Hot 100 chart with the surprise hit “Rich Men North of Richmond” — and in the process went from earning less than $200 in weekly royalties to roughly $356,000 in his chart-topping week.

“Rich Men North of Richmond” generated an estimated $218,000 in royalties for both recorded music and music publishing from track purchases and on-demand audio streams in the week ended Aug. 17, Billboard estimates based on Luminate data. And because he owns his master – released through digital distributor Vydia – and publishing, Anthony will pocket all that money. The track, released through digital distributor Vydia, generated 147,000 track sales and 17.5 million audio on-demand streams over that time period. Luminate did not track any on-demand video streams for the recording. The track also earned Anthony a small amount of publishing royalties from 517 spins at radio.

After the unlikely, whirlwind week in America’s spotlight, Anthony’s long list of accomplishments include the first artist to debut a first Hot 100 chart entry at No. 1; No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs charts; the 23rd song to top both the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously (and the first to do so by a solo male); the first solo-written Hot 100 No. 1 since Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” in March and April 2022; and a rare independently released recording to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100.

The intense interest in “Rich Men North From Richmond” — it instantly found favor in conservative political circles and became a cultural lightning rod among liberals — bled over to the other 18 individually released tracks in Anthony’s catalog and generated an additional $139,000 from 73,000 track sales, 14.8 million audio on-demand streams, 658,000 on-demand video streams and 65,000 programmed audio streams. Anthony had four of the week’s top 10 track downloads: “Ain’t Got a Dollar” was a distant No. 2, “I’ve Got to Get Sober” was No. 5 and “I Want to Go Home” was No. 10. (Strong download sales also put “Ain’t Got a Dollar” and “I’ve Got to Get Sober” onto the Hot Country Songs chart.) In all, Anthony had 16 of the top 100 track downloads in the country last week.

Country music took the top three spots on the Hot 100 but took different routes to get there. Track purchases was the deciding factor in “Rich Men North of Richmond” beating out Luke Combs’ “Fast Car” and Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night.” “Fast Car” had just 10,000 track purchases, 7% as many as “Rich Men North of Richmond,” but its radio audience of 101.7 million was more than 100 times more than the 937,000 achieved by “Rich Men North of Richmond.” Combs’ “Last Night” had the most on-demand audio streams of the trio — 20.5 million to 17.5 million for “Rich Men North of Richmond” and 16.4 million for “Fast Car” — but the fewest track purchases with 6,000 and a radio audience — 70.5 million — about 69% the size the audience of “Fast Car.”

Daily data suggests Anthony’s hot streak will continue. This week’s track purchases of “Rich Men North of Richmond” may decline from last week but through the first two days of the tracking week purchased enough to likely give Anthony the top download for a second consecutive week. And with radio programmers following the lead of consumer purchases and streams, this week’s broadcast radio spins will easily top last week’s count. That’ll all mean more money for the independent artist — and plenty of leverage as he considers offers coming in from major labels “rushing” to sign him.

Scooter Braun Jokes That He’s ‘No Longer Managing’ Himself

Scooter Braun is poking fun at himself amid news that a number of celebrities have parted ways with his management company, SB Projects.

“Breaking news… I’m no longer managing myself,” he tweeted on Tuesday (Aug. 22).

In 2021, Braun sold SB Projects’ parent company Ithaca Holdings to South Korean entertainment conglomerate HYBE, under which SB Projects has continued to operate. Braun is now HYBE America’s CEO.

Braun’s tweet comes just hours after sources close to the situation told Billboard that Idina Menzel parted with the manager amicably last year. Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande also exited their deals with SB Projects this year. J Balvin, who also signed with Braun back in 2019, also left in May and is now managed by Roc Nation.

SB Projects currently includes longtime client Justin Bieber on its roster, despite a report on Friday (Aug. 18) noting that Bieber was looking to leave the company. Reps for both parties told Billboard that the “rumors” were “not true.”

SB Projects’ roster still includes Tori Kelly, Ava Max, The Kid LAROI and Watt, among many others, according to their website.

Irv Gotti Claims Jay-Z Didn’t Need Dame Dash To Be Successful

Any time Irv Gotti is on Drink Champs he is sure to go viral. The Queens native made a recent visit to the podcast and said that Jay-Z did not need Dame Dash to be successful.

The entertainment mogul sat down with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN for his third appearance on the popular podcast. The Murder Inc. Records founder spoke on several topics including the backlash he received after slandering Ashanti so excessively. Additionally, he addressed Dame Dash’s recent comments stating that Jay-Z’s “Super Ugly” response to Nas’ “Ether” was Irv Gotti’s fault. “The response, I wasn’t there for the response,” Dash said on the That’s F***ed Up Podcast. “I had landed… Irv Gotti f**ked that one up!”

When asked about Dash, Irv said bluntly “I don’t think Jay likes Dame. Did I say something that people don’t know already?” He went on to allude that Damon gets too much credit for Hova’s success. “Jay didn’t need nobody. [Dame Dash] started Roc-A-Fella with Jay and Biggs, so he should get credited. I’m saying the making of the records, I don’t know what you want me to say. Jay didn’t need nobody. Jay was picking the beats, Jay was rapping over the beats, Jay was making things. It was all Hov. Dame was along for the ride. It was a great ride.”

Elsewhere in the interview he also revealed that he cut all ties with Fat Joe after Joe called him a sucker for talking bad of Ashanti. “Once you show me who you are or you speak negatively about me, it’s over. His defense and Ja’s defense is they do shows with Ashanti, but Rule will never come out and say, ‘Gotti’s a sucker.’ Fat Joe said, ‘Oh, Gotti’s a sucker.’ I got to pull back and regress from that. Because if I was to go respond or anything with that, it could get crazy. He was on some ‘If I’m your brother I should be able to tell you when you’re wrong.’ My thing is like, you don’t know what went on with me and Ashanti.”

You can see Irv discuss Damon Dash below.
