The Oscar-winning actress celebrated in London with a group of friends who sang “Happy Birthday To You” with a live piano as their canvas. Taking center stage, Moreno conducted her singing friends. Juanes surprises Airbnb guests in Medellin

Two lucky guests stayed in Juanes’ house in Medellin, Colombia, in a partnership with Airbnb. The pair was also surprised by the Colombian singer-songwriter who showed up with guitar in hand to perform for them. “Happy to have opened the doors of my home for an exclusive night with @airbnb for these very special guests,” the “Gris” singer posted on social media. “It was magical to share my Vida Cotidiana with you!!!”

Banda El Recodo’s Billion Streams

The legendary Banda El Recodo was recognized by Pandora for surpassing over one billion streams on the platform, which led the band to now be part of Pandora’s Billionaires’ Milestone Program. To celebrate the billion streams, Pandora will highlight its decades-long hits and new single “Al Ver Que Te Vas” in the Latin Billionaires MX station.

Maluma Records Special Performances for Vevo

As part of Vevo’s ctrl Live Session, Colombian superstar Maluma performed a live rendition of “Balance,” included in his latest album Don Juan. This live performance was the first of a series of videos that were released over the last few days, including live performances of “Los Polvos” and “Hace Un Mes.” The fourth video, “Humedad,” dropped today (Dec. 16). Sebastián Yatra’s Latin Grammy Scholarship

The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation announced that Sebastián Yatra will sponsor the next four-year Prodigy Scholarship that will fully fund a student’s bachelor’s degree in music at Berklee School of Music starting in the fall 2024.

The foundation’s scholarship, created nine years ago, holds a maximum value of $200,000 in financial aid for music students in need. The scholarship is traditionally awarded to “exceptionally talented music students, with financial needs, to support their educational and musical aspirations,” according to the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation. 

“Joining the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation for their annual Prodigy Scholarship is beautiful because I’m part of something that I would’ve wished for as a young kid. One of my big dreams was to study music at Berklee and although my career took a different path which I’m super grateful for, I would’ve loved to have that kind of preparation and knowledge,” Yatra said in a statement. “I hope that the person who gets this opportunity takes full advantage of the scholarship and enjoys it to the max. I’ll be looking out for applicants that share a lot of heart and sincerity in their art.”

Kelly Clarkson Is a Double Winner Again at 2023 Daytime Emmys

Kelly Clarkson and her hit daytime talk show kept up their winning streaks at the 2023 Daytime Emmy Awards, which was finally broadcast live on CBS on Friday, Dec. 15. The show aired six months after the originally announced airdate, June 16, a delay caused by strikes by Hollywood writers and actors. (The nominations were announced way back on April 26.)

Clarkson won daytime talk series host despite the fact that hosts of “informative” and “entertainment” shows were made to compete this year. There had separate winners for the two genres in recent years. Clarkson won outstanding entertainment talk show host the last three years.

Likewise, The Kelly Clarkson Show won outstanding daytime talk series, even though “informative” and “entertainment” series competed there too. Clarkson’s show won outstanding talk show, entertainment the last two years. This year the show bested returning nominees The Drew Barrymore Show, Live With Kelly and Ryan and Today With Hoda and Jenna as well as first-time nominee The Jennifer Hudson Show.

Clarkson has now won seven Daytime Emmys over her series’ first four seasons. This compares to three Grammy Awards over a much longer period of time – 21 years. Clarkson is nominated for another Grammy at the Feb. 4 ceremony – best pop vocal album for Chemistry. She and Adele are currently tied for the most wins in that category – two each.

Clarkson wasn’t present to accept her awards for the second year in a row. Should she show up to support the industry (and the awards show) that has been so good to her? Probably.

Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner hosted the 50th Annual Daytime Emmys, held at the Westin Bonaventure Los Angeles. They also accepted that program’s award for entertainment news series.

Jennifer Nettles sang “Life Is Sweet” over the In Memoriam segment, which included such daytime TV legends as Barbara Walters and Bob Barker, as well as Olivia Newton-John (who wrote songs for As the World Turns), Three’s Company star Suzanne Somers, and Stephen “tWitch” Boss, best known for his role as a dancer, air personality and producer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Daytime TV icon Susan Lucci received lifetime achievement honors at the ceremony. Lucci famously lost the Daytime Emmy 18 times for playing Erica Kane on All My Children before finally winning on her 19th try. Carol Burnett, Andy Cohen and Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos were among those who paid tribute to Lucci via video clips. 

Longtime TV, radio and red-carpet host and producer Tanya Hart and veteran music/variety producer Al Schwartz were among those being ushered into the Academy’s Gold Circle, honoring people with 50 years of accomplishment. Hart is best-known for her work on American Urban Radio Networks, BET and E! Entertainment. Schwartz is best known for his long association with Dick Clark on such shows as the American Music Awards and the Golden Globe Awards. This is the first time these awards have presented at the national level. These awards were presented by tabloid talk show veteran Maury Povich, who is slated to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Creative Arts Daytime Emmys on Saturday Dec. 16.

The Daytime Emmys also paid tribute to Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray, two long-running talk shows that ended their runs this season.

The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974. In 2021, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime.

The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards was produced by NATAS and Associated Television International (ATI). Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong were executive producers from NATAS, while David McKenzie was executive producer from ATI.

In a highly unusual scheduling move, The Daytime Creative Arts and Lifestyle Emmy ceremony will stream live on Saturday Dec. 16, the day after the main telecast, at Watch.TheEmmys.TV and via The Emmys apps for iOS, tvOS, Android, FireTV and Roku. That show will also be held at the Westin Bonaventure. Will that show seem anti-climactic coming after the main event? Probably.

It’s Yeezy season, and we’re not talking about his ugly sneakers and clothes. Kanye West is back with his latest album, Vultures, and like with his other recent album rollouts, this one is a hot a** mess just based on what went down at a recent listening event for the project.

Kanye West put on a show in a room full of enablers during his listening event for his new Ty Dolla-assisted project Vultures, which was supposed to drop on streaming platforms on Friday, December 15.

Videos from culture vulture YesJulz’s live stream of the event began hitting X, formerly Twitter timelines. One moment many folks reacted happily to was the reunion between Kid Cudi and Ye.

For those who forgot, the two friends had a huge falling out in February after West said some hurtful things about his fellow Kids See Ghosts collaborator because of his friendship with Pete Davidson, his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian’s former lover interest.

After getting the boot off the DONDA album, Ye and Cudder have made up with the “Day ‘n’ Nite” rapper appearing on West’s new project.

Kanye West Went On Another Epic Rant

West reuniting with Kid Cuid wasn’t the only thing that happened during the event. Like with any other Yeezy function, the rapper went on a wild rant where he name-dropped Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Adolph Hitler, and Jesus.

“They want a Virgil, then, don’t let me speak at the funeral. I saw two, three, four, five white people not let me speak. Drake, I love you, I’m a get the tattoo. But any of y’all n-ggas, Trav, whoever, y’all gotta show up. Don’t tell me I’m talking crazy. Me, Pharrell, we broke down this door; we’re all in this sh-t together,”

Oh, he wasn’t done. The antisemitic side of him made an appearance, and the Chicago rapper didn’t sound remorseful about his previous comments either.

“I don’t wanna hear sh-t from any of these Jewish n-ggas saying I’m in an episode,” Ye says. “Harley Pasternak followed me to the f-cking hotel, and that n-gga killed Aaron Carter. And now they won’t clear the Backstreet Boys sample. Harley Pasternak, Pusha. Your trainer. Harley Pasternak, Jay-Z.”

But wait… there’s more.

Mr. West kept on spewing his unproven theories and stats. He claimed that he prayed with Tory Lanez and even took a dig at Nicki Minaj for not clearing her verse on New Body, preventing him from putting it on Vultures.

“The French own 80% of the banks in Africa. It’s 60 million of us in America and 60 million Jews in the world,” Ye says. “50% of our deaths are abortion. 25% of us go to prison.”

Oh, what a mess. Mr. West needs some serious help, but unfortunately, the people in his orbit just keep letting him make a fool of himself.

The Biggest Boss, Rick Ross, is gearing up to conquer the biggest mountain in Africa and get in the best shape of his life.

Spotted on HipHopDX, Rick Ross isn’t one to back away from a challenge, and this might be his biggest one yet. The Maybach Music Group general took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, December 13, to announce he is climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain.

The “Aston Martin Music” rapper revealed that he and his trainer will scale the mountain together in the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania. He also has a plan in case anything goes wrong during the trek.

“I mentioned on the podcast last year we was climbing to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro,” Ross said during his jog. “It’s official. Early 2024, it’s going down. [We’re getting in the] best shape of our lives [for this]. Promise I won’t fall out on you muthafuckas. Promise. And guess what? I swear Imma wear my watch, and if I pull that pin on it, in one hour, that helicopter will be there for us.”

Rick Ross’ health journey has been well documented via his social media since suffering multiple seizures that he claims were the direct result of codeine usage.

Since then, when he is not popping bottles of his favorite champagne, out with his girlfriend, or showing off his massive property in Atlanta, Georgia, you can find him in the gym hitting the mits.

When he is not working on his hand skills, he is probably flying somewhere on his brand-new private jet, where he is searching for a personal flight attendant promising to pay a massive six-figure salary.

Rick Ross continues to do big things.

SiriusXM Stock Merger, Live Nation Analyst Upgrade Lead Billboard Global Music Index to New High

SiriusXM’s announcement that it planned to merge its stock with Liberty SiriusXM Group, a tracking stock of Liberty Media, helped the SiriusXM share price climb 16.4% to $5.40 this week after it lagged for much of 2023. Friday’s high mark of $5.78 nearly brought the stock back to where it ended 2022, at $5.84 per share. 

The deal, which requires regulatory approval and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024, “will create value for all stockholders by eliminating the tracking stock structure, enhancing liquidity and allowing former LSXM stockholders to participate directly in the ongoing performance of SiriusXM,” said Greg Maffei, Liberty Media president/CEO, in a statement released Tuesday (Dec. 12).

Elsewhere, Live Nation climbed 9.2% to $93.00 this week thanks in part to an investor note by Morgan Stanley analysts that raised the price target to $110 from $100. Analysts pointed to a “secular shift” in consumer spending on experiences, the company’s increased disclosure about its Venue Nation business and a “highly unlikely” chance the Department of Justice will break up the company following its antitrust probe. Morgan Stanley’s $110 price target implies the stock, which is up 33.4% year to date, has 18% upside after Friday’s close.

Those big gains from SiriusXM and Live Nation, as well as a 4.1% gain from Universal Music Group, one of the index’s most valuable components, helped the Billboard Global Music Index increase 2.2% this week to a record 1,522.78. Nine of the index’s 20 stocks finished the week in positive territory, 10 stocks lost ground and one was unchanged.

Other indexes soared this week after the U.S. Federal Reserve held interest rates unchanged on Wednesday (Dec. 13) and indicated it would cut interest rates three times in 2024. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite set a record closing price of 14,813.92 on Friday, marking a 2.8% gain for the week. The S&P 500 is still 2% away from its high mark after finishing the week up 2.5% to 4,719.19. In the United Kingdom, the FTSE 100 rose 0.3% to 7,576.36. South Korea’s KOSPI composite index gained 1.8% to 2,563.56.

The Billboard Global Music Index’s second-largest increase came from Reservoir Media, which gained 15% to $6.82. The stock’s $6.89 closing price on Thursday was its highest since $7.06 on Feb. 16 and is 31.4% above its 52-week low of $5.19 set on Aug. 10. Chinese music streamer Tencent Music Entertainment gained 8.0% to $8.88. 

Hipgnosis Songs Fund gained 4.9% to 0.701 pounds ($0.89) after the company announced on Monday (Dec. 11) the sale of 20,000 non-core music assets for $23.1 million. The proceeds will be used to pay down its revolving credit facility. On Friday, the company also announced the appointment of Christopher Mills as an independent non-executive director effective immediately. Mills, who has a reputation as an activist investor, is CEO/investment manager of North Atlantic Smaller Companies Investment Trust and founded Harwood Capital Management in 2011. Following the news, Hipgnosis Songs Fund shares rose 2.3% on Friday.

Music streaming company Anghami dropped 30.4% to $0.94, bringing its three-week decline to 66.5%. Other than Anghami, however, no other stock finished the week with a loss greater than 5%. iHeartMedia fell 4.9% to $2.52 and MSG Entertainment dropped 3.2% to $31.16.

Bruh: Social Media Influencer Gets “Christian BBL”

A Nigerian influencer has introduced a new term, “Christian BBL,” to explain a surgical procedure that she had, leaving many online confused.

According to Complex, the Internet was ablaze this week as Sophia Idahosa, known to her followers as Sophiology, posted a video to her YouTube channel to explain getting a surgical procedure that she referred to as a “Christian BBL.” In the 39-minute video, Idahosa explained the procedure to viewers beginning with her visit to Houston cosmetic surgeon Dr. Jung Money to get liposuction and a fat transfer to her hips. She then connected the procedure to her commitment to Christianity and addressed those making comments questioning her thinking behind this for being “judgmental” and “projecting their beliefs.”



“I have never presented myself to be [a] holy, perfect example,” Idahosa said at the 6:30-minute mark of the video. “I’ve always vouched for the girls that love God and are not accepted by others.” The 29-year-old had been hit with comments calling out her behavior. Later in the video, she stated that “having surgery is one thing, but aftercare is everything.” In a separate video, she explained further saying: “I’m not personally that person. I’m here for anything that makes you look better, feel better, have more confidence and just enjoy your life.”

Her use of the “Christian BBL” phrase had many online perplexed and expressing as much in posts on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I’ve been screaming at the idea of a Christian BBL for the last 13 hours,” wrote one user.

Others who commented jabbed her, with one YouTube commenter saying, “Leave religion out of it. You have the free will to be vain if that is what you want.” Another X user posted a meme featuring Blac Chyna (who has recently undergone surgery to reduce her butt and breasts) superimposed in front of a large cross, making fun of the term.

A Brazilian Butt Lift, or BBL, has become a common surgical procedure for women who want to be curvier, particularly around their hips. According to WebMD, there were 21,823 BBL surgeries done in the U.S. in 2020. That number dropped from 28,076 in 2019, but research suggests that the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the decline. It’s also regarded as a dangerous procedure, as a report from the Aesthetic Surgery Journal noted that there were one to two fatalities for every 6,000 of those BBL surgeries, the highest such rate among cosmetic surgeries.

RIOT, who started making beats at 10 years old on GarageBand, began producing songs with Ice Spice in 2021. Then the dynamic duo hit the ground running the next year with the TikTok-trending drill song “Munch (Feelin’ U).” Co-signed by Drake, the single was later certified gold. Next to arrive was Ice Spice’s 2023 EP Like..? Executive produced by RIOT, the project peaked at No. 5 on Billboard‘s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It also spun off two more hits, “In Ha Mood” and “Gangsta Boo” featuring Lil Tjay, the latter of which became Ice Spice’s first Hot 100 entry.

The creative rapport between RIOT and Ice Spice has since yielded several more Hot 100 success stories. Those include Taylor Swift’s “Karma” remix featuring Ice Spice (No. 2) and co-written by RIOT as well as the RIOT-produced “Princess Diana” by Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj (No. 4). RIOTUSA also produced Ice Spice and Minaj’s second teaming on “Barbie World” with Aqua from Barbie: The Album. New York native RIOTUSA, who signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music this past summer, joined Billboard for a conversation on Threads. Here are some soundbites from the live Q&A session on Dec. 13.

On what his music appearing on the Billboard charts means to him and his career:

“It’s a blessing fr (for real). Billboard helped me understand how big the records I work on really are. It reminds you [that] hard work pays off. When I saw I was the No. 1 rap producer, I felt honored and grateful.”

On how he and Ice Spice met: 

“We met in school [State University of New York Purchase] back in 2019. We had mutual high school friends and started hanging in the same circles.”

On what it’s like recording with Ice Spice in the studio:

“It’s a fun time because she really be saying how she feels in that moment … from picking out vibes or punching in lyrics on the spot.”

On working with Nicki Minaj for “Princess Diana” and “Barbie World”:

“Nicki is a legend, icon. She was so cool in person and welcomed me into her creative space. When I found out she was getting on ‘Princess Diana,’ I knew it was lit. But then finding out about ‘Barbie World’ with Ice too? I was like nah, this is New York City.”
