Madonna Teases ‘Troublemaking Queen’ Andy Cohen During N.Y. Show: ‘If You Say One More Bad Thing About Me…’

Madonna has the latitude, and attitude, to say anything she wants during her career-retrospective Celebration Tour dates. And on Saturday night (Dec. 16) the pop monarch did just that when she paused the show for a moment after spotting Andy Cohen in the crowd to give the Watch What Happens Live host a playfully stern warning.

As you might expect, the reality TV icon had excellent seats up front for the gig and according to video of the incident, Madonna couldn’t resist sharing her thoughts in the midst of the over-the-top spectacle celebrating her four decades of hits. “If you say one more bad thing about me on your show… you’re gonna be in so much trouble,” Madonna, 65, said to Cohen, 55, who could not have had a bigger smile on his face during the call-out.

After Madonna spilled some of her drink in Cohen’s direction, she added, “you little troublemaking queen” while Cohen beamed at the attention from the pop idol and mouthed “I love you.”

Cohen posted the video on his Instagram, which included footage of him laughing and lapping up the attention, writing, “I’m a life-long Madonna fan, so it’s a thrill and an honor to be called a ‘troublemaking queen’ by the Queen of Troublemaking. I BOW! Also – go see the new tour. It blew me away!! What a great night. Can’t wait to go back. #TroublemakingQueen.” He also posted a supercut of all the times he’s honored Madonna in his “Mazel of the Day” segment, in which he’s repeatedly praised her for her moxie and untouchable performing chops.

While Madonna did not specify what comments by Cohen she was referring to, the back-and-forth seemed to be all in good fun and part of the unexpected joy of the tour, which has presented surprises on an almost nightly basis. After initially postponing the outing after a hospitalization in June for a serious bacterial infection, Madonna kicked off the 78-date tour in London October at the O2 Arena.

She rolled into New York last Wednesday for the first of several dates in the city, taking the stage late, but elating fans by bringing out her rumored boyfriend, boxing coach Josh Popper and giving her adopted home town a loving Big Apple two-finger greeting. “The relief – the relief that people here speak my language – the language of c-nt. No one is more surprised that I have made it this far than me. I didn’t think I was gonna make it this summer, but here I am,” she said.

The Brooklyn shows have drawn a number of other celebrity guests so far, including Katie Holmes, Chris Rock, Scarlett Johansson, Drew Barrymore and Emmy-winning Ozark star Julia Garner, the actress who was slated to play the singer in an on-pause biopic.

Lorde Seems to Tease New Music in Cryptic Headphones Post: ‘We Building Stamina For This Chapter’

Lorde seems to be gearing up to share some new music, but in an enigmatic Instagram post on Sunday (Dec. 18) the 27-year-old singer teasingly kept fans at arms-length when it came to sharing what’s on her playlist these days. Rocking a pair of AirPods Max and striped pajamas, the “Stoned at the Hair Salon” star shared a pair of pics in which she’s seemingly listening to something, staring at the camera in one and taking a selfie from above in the other with the tantalizing caption, “Listening to myself.”

Lorde has not released a new album since 2021’s Solar Power, her third full-length collection, though she did tease a pair of fresh tracks during a headlining gig at the Boardmasters Festival in the U.K. this summer; fans have speculated that the songs are called “Silver Moon” and “Invisible Ink.”

Before you get too amped up, though, the singer responded to a comment on the post, in which a fan gushed that “L4 SEASON IS UPON US. Lorde is TEASING NEW MUSIC on her Instagram post this is NOT a drill!!!!!!” The comment also claimed that the singer archived her Solar Power cover art from her feed and changed her profile pic.

Lorde — whose Insta feed only contains two pictures at the moment — responded to the comment, writing, “We’re not CLOSE close you guys… i’m just getting so hype n needed to let u know .. start ur excitement on a low flame and bring it up to a gentle simmer .. we building stamina for this chapter.”

In August Lorde also appeared to tease that the L4 era was ramping up, writing on Instagram alongside a post of her swimming in a green-lit pool. “These times are beautiful and they freak me out and there’s so much to tell you,” she said. “No this is not the start of anything out there, just want u to know there’s a light on inside me .. show it to you soon.”

Lorde typically keeps a low-profile between projects, but in September, she opened up to fans in a lengthy emotional letter, revealing that she’s “living with heartbreak again.” The note unveiled what she described as both emotional and physical pain she’s endured recently, explaining, “It’s different but the same. I ache all the time, I forget why and then remember. I’m not trying to hide from the pain, I understand now that pain isn’t something to hide from, that there’s actually great beauty in moving with it. But sometimes I’m sick of being with myself.”

The post did not touch on any news about her current professional endeavors, but instead focused on what she said was the “really inflamed’ status of her body and the long process of learning to listen to those warning signs. “It might seem funny or be easy to forget, but I make records because I need to,” she added. “The songs are spells; a spell to let go of something, a spell to unlock a door. Every time I put something into words just as I see it, set it to the right music, a knot comes loose in me. But it hurts too, confronting the knots.”

For fans always in search of a clue as to her next era, though, it ended on a potentially promising note. “I know I’m gonna look back on this year with fondness and a bit of awe, knowing it was the year that locked everything into place, the year that transitioned me from my childhood working decade to the one that comes next,” she said. “One that even through all this, I’m so excited for. It’s just hard when you’re in it.”

“They’re the Fleetwood Mac of cold weather, and they’re the No. 1 band alphabetically of all time,” SNL‘s James Austin Johnson said to introduce the group in a commercial parody for ABBA Christmas.

“You can’t get enough of their music. You loved Mamma Mia!, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and the prequel, Mama,” he joked.

“And you love how their hits like ‘Dancing Queen’ make you feel young, sweet and 17. And now, being released for the first time, it’s their 1978 Christmas album, ABBA Christmas, with songs like ‘Santa Queen,’” he said, leading into the group’s festive remake of “Dancing Queen.”

Unforgettable album highlights include “Frostitita” and their “‘Fa La La’ number, sung with their signature ‘standing close facing different directions.’”

The ad points out that the holiday album would be a gift “perfect for everyone, from mothers to their gay sons.”

iHeartRadio Power 96.1's Jingle Ball 2023 - Show

Nicki Minaj has long established herself as one of the leading Hip-Hop artists of her era, regardless of gender, and earned a historic mark to go along with her lengthy accolades. Nicki Minaj recently released her latest studio album Pink Friday 2, which went No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts, earning the Queens superstar the most top of chart debuts among female rappers.

Nicki Minaj, 41, is coasting on the success of Pink Friday 2, which dropped on December 8, which is her birthday. Each of her albums has debuted at or near the top for the duration of her career, and her latest set sold the equivalent of 228,000 album units in the week ending December 14.

More from Billboard:

The set also sold 25,000 copies sold on vinyl — the largest week for a rap album by a woman since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991.

Pink Friday 2 was preceded by a trio of charting songs on the Billboard Hot 100: “Super Freaky Girl” (No. 1 in 2022), “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” (No. 13, 2023) and “Last Time I Saw You” (No. 23, 2023).

Minaj was previously tied with Foxy Brown for the leaders among female rappers with a Billboard 200 No. 1 debut, and she is also the first female rapper with No. 1 albums in two different decades, a testament to Minaj’s talent and longevity.

On Twitter, the Barbz are celebrating Nicki Minaj and her latest chart-topping album,  . Check out the reactions below.

Billie Eilish Joins Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig & Maya Rudolph in ‘Tampon Farm’ Sketch on ‘SNL’

A Barbie song, a Christmas classic, a scene co-starring cats and a dreamy ode to a tampon farm: This was Biliie Eilish‘s Saturday night.

This weekend’s Saturday Night Live musical guest performed “What Was I Made For?” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and lent her comedic side to former and current cast members, joining them for two sketches on the Saturday (Dec. 16) episode.

One was the “Whiskers R We” bit, in which Eilish and host Kate McKinnon ran a “Holiday Cat-tacular” adoption campaign with a twist.

The other was the night’s “Tampon Farm” sketch. As SNL describes it: “A group of crunchy women (Kate McKinnon, Billie Eilish, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Paula Pell) sing a song about working on a tampon farm.”

“Tampon farm,” sings a guitar-playing, Americana McKinnon. “The women making cotton, cotton for the tampons, tampons for the blood/ Tampon farm, women with guitars are singing to the tampons/ Tampon farm.”

Wearing a bandana, plaid shirt and overalls, Eilish makes an appearance, smiling as she holds a barrel of the beloved tampons and shakes more tampons out of a tree. “The hands load the fibers,” she sings.

Taylor Swift Brings Dad to Cheer On Travis Kelce at Chiefs-Patriots Game at Gillette Stadium

If any Taylor Swift fans missed her appearance the Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots game, here’s everything they’ll want to see.

The Chiefs played against the Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday (Dec. 17), and won. Swift attended the game to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce, tight end for the Chiefs, and she brought along some family and friends.

Spotted with Swift in a suite at the stadium were dad Scott Swift, Brittany Mahomes, and longtime friends Alana Haim and Ashley Avignone.

Swift and her dad coordinated in Chiefs sweatshirts (Taylor in grey, Scott in a vintage red find). The pop icon also sported a hand-crocheted Chiefs beanie with Kelce’s number, 87, that was made for her by Kut the Knit, who reacted appropriately on Instagram: “TAYLOR SWIFT IS WEARING THE HAT I MADE HER BRB PASSING AWAY RN.”

Clothing shop Westside Storey, one of many Kansas City local businesses benefiting from the buzz about Swift and Kelce’s romance, recently sold Swift a bundle of vintage Chiefs apparel. After Swift wore a red Chiefs sweatshirt at their game last weekend, shop owner Chris Harrington told Billboard that Westside Storey’s online store had an unprecedented number of orders in the days that followed.

Dad-and-daughter duo Scott and Taylor were seen smiling and taking selfies together Sunday, and at one point Mr. Swift seemingly brought out a birthday cake to share with others nearby. Taylor turned 34 earlier in the week, on Dec. 13.

See some clips captured of Swift at Sunday’s game below.

How Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s Romance Is Boosting Kansas City’s Economy

Every time Taylor Swift shows up in Kansas City, people eat more donuts.

Last July, Donutology’s two stores in the city made 20,000 donuts in a single weekend after marketing “Tayl-gating” 30-packs, including Lavender Glazes and Caramel Is a Cat bismarcks, to meet the demand of 74,000 Swifties at two Arrowhead Stadium concerts. The stores hastily hired former employees for around-the-clock frying and assigned their marketing director, Abby Meyer, to help in the packaging department. “It hasn’t really died since then,” Meyer says.

Unlike other U.S. cities on last summer’s Eras tour, Kansas City’s Swiftie boom continues, thanks to the singer’s high-profile presence in the city this fall with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce of the NFL’s Chiefs. And Donutology isn’t the only one cashing in on the buzz: Local businesses such as clothing shops Westside Storey and Made In KC and restaurants Piropos and Prime Social have significantly boosted their sales, social-media views and website traffic over the past few months.

“We can’t attach a number to it,” says Tim Cowden, president/CEO of the Kansas City Area Development Council. “It’s an incredible opportunity that she is providing our region.”

According to the city’s Economic Development Council, Eras tickets across the United States sold at an average price of $1,200, so the Kansas City shows generated $88.8 million in revenue. Additionally, Swifties bought $1,300 to $1,500 worth of meals, merch and other goods throughout the tour, and for Kansas City, that amounted to an overall financial impact of $185 million to $200 million. Then, after Swift’s widely viewed appearance last Sunday in a vintage Chiefs sweatshirt during the team’s game against the Green Bay Packers, Westside Storey, which sold her the item, landed an unprecedented 100 online orders in the two or three days after the game, according to the store’s owner, Chris Harrington.

“It’s quite insane,” says Harrington. “It’s just driven traffic like we’ve never had before. We’re waiting to see when it ends.”

Piropos, the Argentine restaurant where Swift and Kelce had a Kansas City dinner date in late October, reports a similarly massive word-of-mouth reaction. “We didn’t put up any sign. People just called us,” says Cristina Worden, the restaurant’s owner. “We got more reservations, we have more commentary. It’s been great for every business.”

The Eras-related sales spike in Kansas City took Keith Bradley, co-owner of the 11-store gift-and-apparel chain Made In KC, by surprise. Ticketholders streamed into town, buying apparel, jewelry, candles and hats, and the stores scrambled to adapt by launching Swift-themed drinks and friendship bracelets. Nearly three months later, when Swift attended her first Chiefs game, “it felt like that was a new wave,” Bradley says, adding that his shops’ most popular holiday-season products are “anything Taylor and Travis,” such as candles and T-shirts.

The Swift-Kelce romance is a feel-good, fast-moving story and a “buzzworthy partnership,” as Katie Essing, a University of Missouri assistant teaching professor of marketing, describes it — which allows brands to attach themselves for exposure without fearing backlash or consequences. After Swift publicly ate chicken fingers with ketchup and what appeared to be ranch dressing at a Chiefs game in late September, KFC referred to Swift on social media as its “Ranch Queen” and Heinz launched a new flavor called Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch. “Brands having anything to do with ranch could jump on social media,” Essing says. “And that’s what we see happening with the brands in the Kansas City area with this relationship.”

The Eras Tour was so huge — grossing $900 million plus, with 63,000 ticket sales per show, or 3.3 million overall, according to Billboard estimates — that officials and businesses in host cities had to be asleep to not take advantage of the marketing opportunities. Tampa named Swift “honorary mayor”; Las Vegas lit up its Gateway Arches in colors representing all of her albums; and Seattle’s Japonessa Sushi Cocini racked up $10,000 in sales of “Reputation” sushi rolls and cocktails packed with glitter. But only Kansas City has extended its Swiftie effect beyond Eras.

Kansas City mayor Quinton Lucas says the NFL Draft in April, which reportedly drew 312,000 attendees and generated $164.3 million, led to “flack” from some local businesses. (Owners complained about street closures, excessive traffic and high parking costs that kept regular customers away.) “Taylor Swift was the opposite — for almost no municipal investment, we’re getting a heck of an investment,” he tells Billboard. “Any mayor would love to have Taylor Swift just start randomly coming to their city. This is great for our economy. It’s great for our culture. It’s great for letting people know we have this dynamic city. Life kind of sucks, so it’s nice to just see two happy people enjoying life.”

Fans Choose Karol G’s ‘Que Chimba De Vida’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music

Karol G‘s “Que Chimba De Vida” has topped this week’s new music poll.

Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Dec. 15) on Billboard, choosing the Colombian star’s new single as their favorite new music release of the past week.

“Que Chimba De Vida” brought in 59% of the vote, beating out new music by Megan Thee Stallion and Renee Rapp (“Not My Fault”), Nicki Minaj (Pink Friday 2 (Gag City Deluxe)), Lil Baby (“Crazy” and “350”), and others.

Karol G — who ranked No. 6 on Billboard’s Greatest Pop Stars of 2023 list — gives the year one final kiss-off with “Que Chimba De Vida,” which translates to “What a Cool Life.” The MAG and Edgar Barrera-produced track starts off unsuspectingly with guitar licks before fully delving into Mexican music inspired production, proving that her upbeat energy — exhibited in Mañana Será Bonito and its follow-up Bichota Season — will continue to flourish well into 2024 (though unclear where the track will live in relation to her previous releases).

Trailing behind “Que Chimba De Vida” on the poll is “Not My Fault,” the team-up between Megan Thee Stallion and Reneé Rapp. The Mean Girls movie musical soundtrack single brought in 35% of the vote. Opening up with Lindsay Lohan’s now-iconic line “It’s not my fault you’re like, in love with me, or something!,” the song’s lyrics are from Regina George’s point of view and as such, boasts rhymes ripe for your next social media post (see: Megan’s witty line, “I run s—, to be a bad b—- is a sport!”)

See the final results of this week’s new music release poll below.

Nicki Minaj Scores Third No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With ‘Pink Friday 2’

Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 debuts atop the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Dec. 23), marking her third leader — and the most No. 1s among female rappers. She previously led the tally with Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded in 2012 and her debut studio set Pink Friday in 2011.

Pink Friday 2 launches with 228,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 14, according to Luminate. That sum marks the largest week for a rap album by a woman in the 2020s decade, and the biggest for an R&B/hip-hop album by a woman this year.

In total, Pink Friday 2 marks Minaj’s seventh top 10 album, the entirety of her charting efforts, on the Billboard 200. She has also hit the region with The Pinkprint (No. 2, 2015), Queen (No. 2, 2018), Beam Me Up Scotty (No. 2, 2021) and the best-of compilation Queen Radio: Volume 1 (No. 10, 2022).

Also in the new top 10 of the Billboard 200, Tate McRae lands her first top 10-charting set with the No. 4 arrival of Think Later.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Dec. 23, 2023-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Dec. 19. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram.

With a third No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Minaj breaks out of a tie with Foxy Brown for the most leaders among female rap artists. Minaj is also the first female rapper with No. 1 albums in two different decades, as she logged her first two leaders in the 2010s, and her third came in the 2020s.

Of Pink Friday 2’s 228,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Dec. 14, SEA units comprise 129,000 (equaling 169.87 million on-demand official streams of the 22 songs on the streaming edition of the album), album sales comprise 92,000 and TEA units comprise 7,000.

With 169.87 million on-demand official streams generated by Pink Friday 2’s songs, the set garners Minaj’s largest streaming week ever, the 2020s decade’s biggest streaming week for a rap album by a woman, and 2023’s largest streaming week for any R&B/hip-hop album by a woman.

As Pink Friday 2 sold 92,000 copies, the album registers the biggest sales week for any rap album by a woman in the 2020s decade and the largest sales week for an R&B/hip-hop album by a woman in 2023.

Pink Friday 2‘s sales were bolstered by the album’s availability across a range of variants, in both digital download and physical configurations on its street date (Dec. 8). It was issued as a 10-track album in two CD editions (a standard version and a signed version sold through Minaj’s webstore) and four vinyl editions (including three retailer-exclusive versions, all with different covers and color vinyl).

Concurrently, an expanded 22-song version of Pink Friday 2 was issued via digital retailers, in both a clean and explicit edition. Four later iterations of the digital album were released through the tracking week through Minaj’s webstore, in both clean and explicit versions, all with alternative cover art, and sold for $5 each. On Monday (Dec. 11), a 23-track version added a remix of the album’s “Beep Beep” with 50 Cent. Tuesday brought a 23-track edition with the bonus track “Love Me Enough,” featuring Monica and Keyshia Cole. Wednesday saw the 22-track edition drop with a new alternate cover. Finally, on Thursday, a 24-track version dropped containing both the “Beep Beep” remix and “Love Me Enough.”

Pink Friday 2 sold 25,000 copies on vinyl in its first week, scoring the largest sales week for a rap album by a woman since Luminate began tracking sales in 1991.

At No. 2 on the Billboard, Taylor Swift’s chart-topping 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is a non-mover with 109,000 equivalent album units earned (up 7%). It’s the first time in nine months that the top two albums are by female artists. It last happened on the March 11-dated list, when Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito was No. 1 and SZA’s SOS was No. 2.

Interestingly, this week marks the fifth time Minaj and Swift have occupied the top two positions on the chart together. They first did so on the Jan. 22, 2011-dated chart, when Swift’s Speak Now was No. 1 and Minaj’s Pink Friday was No. 2. Then, for three weeks in a row in January of 2015 (Jan. 3-17), Swift’s 1989 was No. 1 while Minaj’s The Pinkprint was No. 2.

Minaj’s frequent collaborator Drake is No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with his former leader For All the Dogs, which is steady with 68,000 equivalent album units (down 10%). Drake is also a featured artist on Pink Friday 2, along with fellow Billboard 200 chart-toppers 50 Cent, J. Cole, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne and Monica.

Tate McRae lands her first top 10-charting album on the Billboard 200 as Think Later bows at No. 4. The set starts with 66,000 equivalent album units — her biggest week yet. Of its starting sum, SEA units comprise 58,000 (equaling 75.99 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs), album sales comprise 8,000 and TEA units comprise less than 1,000.

Think Later was preceded by McRae’s first top 10-charting hit on the Billboard Hot 100, “Greedy,” which reached the top 10 in November and has so far climbed to No. 7 (as of the most recently published chart). The album also houses her latest Hot 100 entry, “Exes,” which has thus far peaked at No. 34.

The rest of the top 10 on the new Billboard 200 is comprised of former No. 1s, including three more Swift titles. Michael Bublé’s Christmas is a non-mover at No. 5 (64,000 equivalent album units; up 7%); Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time falls 4-6 (63,000; down 3%); Swift’s Midnights dips 6-7 (57,000; up 4%), SZA’s SOS descends 7-8 (53,000; up 2%); Swift’s Lover climbs 11-9 (49,000; up 13%) and Swift’s Folklore falls 9-10 (49,000; up 5%).
