Jimmie Allen Sexual Assault Accuser Agrees to Drop Lawsuit Against Country Star

Jimmie Allen‘s former manager has agreed to dismiss her lawsuit claiming the country singer sexually assaulted her, ending the case less than a year after it was filed.

In court papers filed Thursday (Mar. 14), attorneys for Allen and his unnamed Jane Doe accuser — his former day-to-day manager — jointly asked a federal judge to dismiss her claims against the country singer. In the same filing, Allen also agreed to drop his counter-suit accusing the woman of defamation.

Jane Doe’s attorney, Beth Fegan at the law firm FeganScott, confirmed the agreement to Billboard: “FeganScott can confirm that Jane Doe and Jimmie Allen have reached a mutual accord as to Plaintiff’s claims and Mr. Allen’s counterclaims and have agreed to dismiss them The decision reflects only that both parties desire to move past litigation.”

A rep for Allen did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Though the claims against Allen will be dropped, the case will continue against management firm Wide Open Music, where the Jane Doe plaintiff was employed, and its founder, Ash Bowers. In her lawsuit, the accuser says Wide Open and Bowers didn’t do enough to protect their employee from Allen’s abusive behavior and fired her when she complained about it.

The agreement also won’t fully end Allen’s legal woes. The country star will continue to face a second lawsuit, filed by another Jane Doe, who claims that the singer assaulted her in a Las Vegas hotel room and secretly recorded it. That case remains pending.

Allen was a rising star in the country music world at the start of last year, but in May and June he was hit with the pair of sexual abuse lawsuits in quick succession. Following the accusations, his label, booking agency, former publicist and management company all suspended or dropped him.

The first case, filed on May 11, alleged that Allen had “manipulated and used his power” over the woman on his management team to “sexually harass and abuse her” over a period of 18 months that elapsed from 2020 to 2022.

“Plaintiff expressed in words and actions that Jimmie Allen’s conduct was unwelcome, including pushing him away, sitting where he could not reach her, telling him she was uncomfortable and no, and crying uncontrollably,” the woman’s lawyers wrote in the complaint. “However, Allen made clear that plaintiff’s job was dependent on her staying silent about his conduct.”

The second lawsuit, filed on June 9, accused Allen of battery, assault and other wrongdoing over an alleged July 2022 incident at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. Though the Jane Doe in that case says she had “willingly joined Allen in the bedroom,” she claimed she had “repeatedly told him she did not want him to ejaculate inside her” because she was not on birth control, but that Allen had done so anyway. She also claimed that he had secretly filmed the encounter on his phone despite the fact that she had “not consented to being recorded”

Allen strongly denied all the accusations, saying he would “mount a vigorous defense.” He later counter-sued both women — accusing the management employee of defaming him and claiming that the other woman had stolen the phone he allegedly used to record her.

Gunna & Offset Flex Their Designer Luxuries in New ‘Prada Dem’ Video: Watch

Gunna and Offset have reunited on the music side as the two joined forces once again on Friday (March 15) for the decadent “Prada Dem.”

An ode to the Italian design house, Gunna and Set trade slippery bars over the woozy synths and high-hats. The “Fukumean” rapper pushes back against the snitching allegations stemming from him reaching an Alford Plea deal in the YSL RICO case in December 2022.

“I set the trend, I’m a trendsetter (Yeah)/ I’m not a rat, still getting cheddar,” Gunna raps.

“Young rich bastard, I got 10 figures/ Run a n—a pockets, I ain’t friends with him (Uh-uh)/ 10 years in and I’m still winning,” Offset rhymes.

It’s far from the first time Offset and Gunna have connected, as they collaborated in the past on records such as “Wild Wild West” and Drip Season 2‘s “Beat the Case.”

Reuniting in 2024 is a big deal, as it marks the first time a prominent rapper has lent a feature standing next to Gunna since he reached a plea deal in the YSL RICO case to secure his freedom.

Some in hip-hop — such as Lil Baby — have distanced themselves from Gunna amid the YSL case, with Young Thug still behind bars.

Despite that, it was a busy Friday for Gunna, as he hopped on Flo Milli’s Fine Ho, Stay album for their “Edible” collab.

It seems the complaints behind McDonald’s ice cream machines have hit the fed’s radar. The DOJ has formally addressed their faulty equipment.

The Verge is reporting that the global fast food chain’s signature soft served dessert is the topic of discussion for the not only the United States Department Of Justice but also the Federal Trade Commission. On Thursday, March 14 both the agencies submitted a joint filing regarding the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. In essence the DMCA criminalizes any production, deviation and repairing of any copyrighted works.

The act covers all McDonald’s ice cream machines as they regard to as “commercial and industrial equipment.” These appliances are actually purchased from Taylor Products Inc., an ice cream equipment supplier based out of Edison, New Jersey thus they are the only party who can perform repairs on the machines. Furthermore, the technicians who are licensed to service the machines are few and far between. The DOJ’s submission asking that the DMCA be reviewed citing “renewing and expanding repair-related exemptions would promote competition in markets for replacement parts, repair, and maintenance services, as well as facilitate competition in markets for repairable products.”

According to Gizmodo restaurants lose an average of $625 dollars a day when their ice cream machines are inoperative. McDonald’s has yet to formally comment on the DOJ’s filing.

Spotted on TMZ Sports, former Washington Wizards star John Wall opened up about moments he wanted to take his own life.

In a recent episode of The OGs podcast, Wall revealed to fellow NBA hoopers Mike Miller and Undonis Haslem that he suffered a great deal following the passing of his mother, who succumbed to breast cancer.

Wall revealed losing his mother, whom he considered his “best friend,” led to him putting a gun to his head on two occasions but ultimately deciding not to pull the trigger because of his two sons.

Per TMZ Sports:

“My mom was my best friend,” the 33-year-old said.

“I put a gun to my head twice, and a lot of people that are close to me, friends at the time, didn’t know.”

Wall explains dealing with his mom’s death was his “darkest moment,” combined with a litany of injuries after signing a $170 million contract extension with the Wizards.

But, Wall chose not to pull the trigger … ’cause he couldn’t bear the thought of leaving his two sons behind.

“If I take myself away from this Earth, I’m failing my kids, like, who gon’ be able to raise them,” Wall said.

“I know I gotta be there for them.”

John Wall Is Currently In Therapy

Netflix’s hit series Black Mirror is known for taking brief hiatuses in-between it’s seasons and with the sixth season almost a year old, Netflix has just announced that the popular sci-fi show will be returning for a seventh installment…next year.

On Thursday, (March 14), Netflix released a teaser trailer announcing that Black Mirror would be returning in 2025 with six new episodes. And though details about what to expect aren’t given, Netflix did confirm that one of the episodes would be a sequel to one of Season 6’s standout episodes, “USS Callister.”

The news should be welcomed by fans of the series who were pleased to see the show get back on track in Season 6 after a very lackluster fifth season in 2019, which many felt was easily the worst season in the franchise. Now that the show’s regained some popularity and respect with it’s 2023 return, Netflix is looking to capitalize and give fans some more stories that have at times given us a glimpse as to what to expect in our own actual reality.

No release date has been set but don’t be surprised if Season 7 of Black Mirror returns sometime next Summer.

Mexican American teen Ivan Cornejo delivers a new sad sierreño song that his fans could soon turn into a new anthem. “Baby Please” finds the 19-year-old pleading for a second chance. “This song was inspired by the desperate desire we feel during our lowest moments in a break up,” he said in a statement. “We hate the attachment, but love the thought of a rekindled love.”

Meanwhile, Reik presents their latest titled “Abril,” which begins as a soft ballad, harmoniously led by strings and vocals, and then evolves with electronic elements into a contemporary pop-style piece. In the realm of pop, Colombian singer-songwriter Andrés Cepeda released “Prométeme” — his first under Warner Music México — in which he sings about the thrill of beginning of a relationship: “Promise me that you’ll still stay when I fail/ When as time passes, I give myself away and the truth comes out/ When our lips touch and lose their electricity/ Promise me that you’ll still stay until the end.”

Halle Bailey Serenades Baby Son Halo in Ethereal ‘In Your Hands’ Music Video: Watch

After reserving her right to keep her first pregnancy to herself, Halle Bailey is slowly beginning to share her baby boy with the world. In the music video for her latest single, “In Your Hands,” the Grammy-nominated singer and actress cradles her son as she belts out the moving ballad.

“All in your hands, in your hands/ The world is yours when I’m in it/ In your hands, in your hands/ You can’t let go or you’ll lose your chance,” Halle sings in the soaring chorus.

Co-produced by Dem Jointz and Davekeyz and co-written by Halle and Feli Ferraro, “In Your Hands” finds Halle crooning of the stability and safety she feels when she’s with those she loves the most — whether that’s her partner — YouTuber and rapper DDG — or her baby son, Halo. In the final frame of the music video, Halle cradles her child in her arms as she gently sways from the side to side, taking in the closing notes of the powerful ballad.

Trending on Billboard

“In Your Hands” marks the second non-soundtrack solo release of Halle’s career, following the Grammy-nominated “Angel,” which peaked at No. 6 on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs in 2023.

Halle revealed on Jan. 6 that she and DDG had welcomed their first child together. “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post at the time. “The world is desperate to know you.”

The arrival of baby Halo came after months of online rumors and speculation about the star possibly being pregnant.

2023 was a banner year for the “Angel” singer, given her starring turns in two of the year’s biggest movie musicals — The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple — both of which spawned accompanying soundtracks that featured contributions from her. At the 2024 NAACP Image Awards, Halle took home the outstanding ensemble cast in a motion picture award alongside her Color Purple castmates, including Taraji P. Henson, Fantasia Barrino and 2024 Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks (best actress in a supporting role).

Elijah Marley, the grandson of reggae legend Bob Marley, thrilled the crowd paying tribute to Jo Mersa Marley on his birthday recently.

On March 9, the family of the late, great reggae legend Bob Marley held a tribute concert to honor the birthday of the late singer and relative Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley at Nine Mile in the St. Ann’s parish of Jamaica. Amid a star-studded lineup, one figure captivated the audience—Elijah Marley, the 12-year-old grandson of Bob and son of Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley.

With his father and uncles behind him beaming with pride, Elijah sang and the audience burst into cheers at his performance. The young Marley has been rising in prominence, having previously displayed his skills at the celebration of what would’ve been Bob Marley’s 77th birthday on February 6, 2022, at the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston.

The highlight of that “Roots 77” showcase (which also incorporated live stream performances from artists such as D’Angelo) was Elijah doing a cover of Stephen Marley and Capleton’s “Rockstone”, singing lead as he played the drums. He also captivated the 3,000 audience members with a performance of John Lennon’s iconic tune “Imagine”, and even covered country music star Blake Shelton’s “God Country,” adding his own twist to it.

The concert honoring Jo Mersa Marley also featured notable artists such as Kabaka Pyramid, Spragga, Christopher Ellis, Lutan Fyah, and Black Am I. Jo Mersa Marley was on his way to being an established artist carrying on the family’s legacy as the first-born son of Stephen Marley, beginning with his debut EP Comfortable in 2014. He had released several singles that moved the needle in the reggae scene including “Burn It Down”, a collaboration with his brother Yohan Marley that was released in 2019.

The 31-year-old Jo Mersa Marley died in December 2022 after being found unresponsive in his car in a parking lot in Miami, Florida. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office would later determine the cause of death as “acute asthma exacerbation,” with rhinovirus/enterovirus infection listed as a primary cause.

Rest in powerful peace Joe Mersa Marley.
