Shakira’s ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’: All Tracks Ranked

In a journey of transformation, where tears evolve into diamonds and vulnerability into strength, Shakira reaffirms that her hits don’t lie. With her highly anticipated 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran — with eight new songs of 17, including two remixes — the Colombian superstar plunges into the depths of her soul, alchemizing pain into pop gold while celebrating the strength of womanhood.

More radiant than ever, Shakira reveals a profound exploration of emotions and experiences that marks a pivotal chapter in her illustrious career and life, following a sentimental breakup that left her fragile and sensitive but brought her back to music.

“I feel like a cat with more than nine lives; whenever I think I can’t get any better, I suddenly get a second wind,” Shakira told Billboard in September. “I’ve gone through several stages: denial, anger, pain, frustration, anger again, pain again. Now I’m in a survival stage. Like, just get your head above water. And it’s a reflection stage. And a stage of working very hard and when I have time with my children, really spend it with them.”

On her first full-length release in seven years, Shak delivers a captivating blend of pop, Afrobeats (“Nassau”), bachata (“Monotonía”), Tex-Mex rhythms (“(Entre Paréntesis)”) and a return to her rock roots (“Cómo Dónde y Cuándo”). Infusing elements of electronic music, she maintains her signature versatility, showcasing not only her vocal prowess but also her songwriting prowess, and multi-instrumental abilities.

While Shakira shines brightly on solo tracks such as “Tiempo Sin Verte” and “Última,” she also collaborates with a stellar lineup across the set, including Cardi B, Grupo Frontera and returning artists like Rauw Alejandro and Bizarrap. With Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, Shakira continues to offer a diverse array of melodies that evoke both pain and passion, irresistibly, inviting listeners to dance and contemplate simultaneously.

Below, Billboard ranks all 15 songs from Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran excluding two remixes, in descending order.

Michael Jackson Estate Claims His Mother Has Received $55M Since His Death

Michael Jackson’s estate claimed in legal filings Thursday (Mar. 21) that his mother, Katherine Jackson, has received more than $55 million since the singer’s death — a revelation that came during an acrimonious dispute between the estate’s executors and the elder Jackson.

The new filings, obtained by Billboard, were aimed at proving that the estate itself shouldn’t have to pay for Katherine’s recent legal bills, which stem from her efforts to block an unspecified business transaction — believed to be the estate’s recent estimated $600 million catalog deal with Sony.

In making that argument, estate executors John Branca and John McClain argued Thursday that “virtually no request of Mrs. Jackson for her care or maintenance has been declined” in the years since Michael’s 2009 death.

Trending on Billboard

“Contrary to claims made by Mrs. Jackson’s counsel, the executors have in fact provided liberally for Mrs. Jackson’s maintenance, care and well being,” attorneys for Branca and McClain wrote. “Since Michael’s death, the executors have expended for Mrs. Jackson’s benefit more than $55 million.”

The elder Jackson allegedly received more than $33 million in cash, including an ongoing allowance of $160,0000 per month, plus a $15 million luxury home, the estate claimed. Branca and McClain also claimed that they provided Katherine with an emergency $3.7 million payment in December to satisfy delinquent income tax liabilities.

“It is difficult to imagine that the trustees could provide any more liberally for Mrs. Jackson,” attorneys for the executors wrote.

Thursday’s filing is the latest development in an ongoing feud between Katherine and the executors over her opposition to the unspecified business transaction. While the disputed deal has not been named in court documents, the Jackson estate recently struck an estimated $600 million deal to sell part of the singer’s catalog to Sony, the terms of which were first reported by Billboard last month.

After the Jackson estate sought court approval for the unnamed deal in 2022, Katherine filed objections with the court. But in April 2023, the judge overseeing the estate rejected those objections and ruled that the deal could move forward. Katherine then filed an appeal, which is still pending.

In December, Katherine filed motions asking that the estate pay for the legal bills she had incurred in making her objections, including the ongoing appeal. In an initial response earlier this month, Branca and McClain strongly opposed the request to pay for what they called her “failed objection” and “meritless appeal.”

Earlier this week, Michael’s son Blanket echoed those objections, arguing that his grandmother’s appeal was an “extreme longshot” and that it would be “unfair” to force him and his siblings to pay for that case.

In their new filing on Thursday, Branca and McClain went even further — claiming that the estate should not have to pay Katherine’s lawyers for filing objections that had caused “substantial damage.”

“Importantly, this petition is not about Mrs. Jackson’s maintenance, care, comfort and support,” the executors’ attorneys wrote. “This petition is about payment of attorneys’ fees for an objection filed on Mrs. Jackson’s behalf, which the court overruled, and the subsequent, frivolous and still pending appeal.”

An attorney for Katherine Jackson did not immediately return a request for comment.

“It’s more than my father’s story,” the reggae legend’s son, Ziggy Marley, said in an interview with Billboard. “It talks about his life, but I think now is the time for this message of ‘one love’ to be put into the global view. I think it’s a very important time and we’re in a very significant time in the world, so you know, the idea of ‘one love,’ It’s pretty cool to have that out there.”

“We were there from the beginning, we were the one who initiated the idea to do the film on behalf of my family. Erykah Badu & Azealia Banks Call Out Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen Is Back & More | Billboard News

Erykah Badu and Azealia Banks took to social media to give their unfiltered thoughts on Beyoncé’s upcoming album ‘Cowboy Carter.’ After having to postpone 29 shows, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band make their big return at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Djo returns to the top spot on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart as Beyoncé & Dasha break into the top 10. We break down Shakira’s chart history. And more!

It’s Beyoncé’s world, we’re just living in it. We’re telling you the biggest songs on TikTok, hanging out with Karol G, talking about Shakira’s iconic career and taking you to see Bruce Springsteen. It’s Thursday, March 21st. I’m Tetris, and this is Billboard News. I’m so excited about ‘Cowboy Carter’ and I’m clearly not the only one. So let’s get into some Beyoncé news. ‘Cowboy Carter’ is one of the most anticipated albums of 2024. But this new era is rubbing some people the wrong way. Beyoncé already has a No. 1 song from her new album ‘Cowboy Carter’ and it doesn’t even drop until next week. But after revealing the album name, inspiration behind the project and an alternate cover, some other artists are questioning Queen Bey. Erykah Badu shared Bey’s alternate cover on IG with the caption “hm,” seeming to insinuate that she copied Badu’s propensity for rocking similar braids. She recently wore the same style at a red carpet and in a promo. After the Beyhive got wind of it, Erykah took to Twitter, saying to Jay Z ‘say something, Jay, you’re gonna let this woman and these bees do this to me?’ Jay-Z didn’t respond. But Beyoncé’s publicist Yvette seems to have acknowledged it, sharing a slideshow of B with braided hairstyles over her decadeslong career. Erykah Badu isn’t the only artist taking issue with Beyoncé’s new era.

Back to velour! Juicy Couture is making a comeback.

If you were around during the early millennium, then you’re probably already familiar with the Juicy Couture tracksuit’s first run. From Beyoncé to Jessica Simpson, it seems like every star had at least one velour tracksuit on deck, and for celebs like Paris Hilton, Juicy Couture became a lifestyle.

In fact, Hilton still loves wearing comfy tracksuits and she’s not alone, Mel B was spotted wearing a Juicy Couture tracksuit last year.

Despite ruling over much of the early millennium, by around 2014, the velour tracksuit fell out of the style spotlight. With help from TikTok, Juicy Couture’s legendary tracksuit is officially hot again and Gen Z rap girlies like Sexyy Red and Latto have rocked the trend.

Trending on Billboard

But Juicy Couture didn’t start with athleisure wear. The LA lifestyle brand, founded by best friends Gela Nash and Pamela Skaist-Levy in the 1997, was initially created for maternity wear under the name Travis Jeans before changing its name.

The focus of Juicy Couture was “casual luxury,” according to the founders. “Really amazing clothes that you could wear every day,” Skaist-Levi said in a 2015 interview alongside Nash. “First we designed a sexy V-neck T-shirt and that really took off, so we made it in 26 different colors. We manufactured everything in Los Angeles, which was a big part of our success. It turned out to be very profitable because LA was our backyard.”

How did the Juicy Couture’s tracksuit become so popular? We can thank Madonna for debuting a custom Juicy Couture tracksuit back in 2001. After the Material Girl wore it out, the tracksuit started popping up everywhere with celebs like Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez sporting velour.

Besides tracksuits, Juicy Couture designs dresses, jumpsuits, swimwear, jewelry, purses and more.

See below for a roundup of Juicy Couture tracksuits to buy online.

Azealia Banks vs. The World: A Comprehensive List of Her Famous Feuds

From lengthy back-and-forth beefs to one-sided rants and attacks against Beyoncé, here’s a comprehensive list of the NYC rapper’s most publicized beefs.

Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, T.I., Erykah Badu — these are just a handful of the high-profile artists Azealia Banks has scuffled with online in recent years.

Banks’ penchant for conflict nearly eclipses her bars in the years since her first mixtape dropped in 2012. Indeed, if there’s one thing Banks has become best known for, it’s perhaps her endless list of feuds on and off social media with her fellow musicians.

Earlier this week, Banks hopped on Instagram to critique the cover and title of Beyoncé’s upcoming album Cowboy Carter. Despite, Beyoncé herself explaining the meaning behind the project and why she decided to make an entire album in a genre she’s only previously dabbled in, Banks weighed in with a litany of assumptions and criticisms ranging from a lack of creativity (“Wow we didn’t even try to put even a little effort into a more artistic title?”) to outright ignorance (“reinforcing the false rhetoric that country music is a post civil war white art form”). She even took a shot at Bey’s husband, saying, “JAY-Z is the only boring thing here.”

This isn’t the first time Banks has taken aim at Bey. After her seminal sixth album Lemonade dropped, Banks accused the Houston native of trying to take advantage of the social justice issues that were all over the news back in 2016. “She’s purposefully strayed away from political discourse her entire career to make sure she didn’t alienate white ppl,” she said at the time. “And now that black women’s suffering is a national conversation, she wants to hop on it and make our suffering ‘trendy.’”

And that’s not even the worst thing she’s said about a fellow musician. From lengthy back-and-forth beefs to one-sided rants and attacks, here’s a comprehensive look back at Banks’ most publicized feuds.

Beetlejuice Makes His Grand Return to Winter River in Eerie ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Trailer

No need to say his name three times, because the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice official teaser trailer arrived on Thursday (March 21).

The one-minute clip features a glimpse of the returning and new characters, including Wednesday star Jenna Ortega taking on the role of Astrid, the daughter of the iconic Lydia Deetz played by Winona Ryder, who is reprising her role. Catherine O’Hara is also returning as Delia Deetz, and the three generations of the Deetz family — Delia, Lydia and Astrid — are seen at a funeral at the start of the trailer.

“Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened,” the description of the Tim Burton-directed series reads, as is seen in the teaser clip when Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice makes his grand entrance after Lydia finds the unearthed model. “With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”

The trailer is soundtracked by a spooky, slowed down rendition of Harry Belafonte’s “Day-O,” which was famously featured in the original 1988 film, when a ghostly couple played by Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin haunt a family that moves into their home, and forcing them to perform the classic track with their paranormal abilities.

Trending on Billboard

“The relationship between Lydia and Astrid, my character, is very important,” Ortega previously told Vanity Fair of the upcoming sequel. “And it’s also really strange because it’s a lot of catching up and putting the pieces together of what’s gone on in Lydia’s life since, which is nice, I think, for anybody who loves the character and is excited to see her again.”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hits theaters on Sept. 6. Watch the teaser trailer below.
