It’s Official: Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ Is a Diamond-Certified Record

Rihanna‘s 2012 smash “Diamonds” is staying true to its title 12 years later by earning diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on Monday (April 22).

Roc Nation officially announced the news via X on Monday morning, revealing that the single has accumulated 10 million equivalent song units. According to the RIAA, one equivalent song unit is equal to a single digital song sale, or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams. This is Rihanna’s third song to achieve diamond status, following her 2010 “Love the Way You Lie” collaboration with Eminem (certified on May 9, 2013) and her 2011 “We Found Love” collaboration with Calvin Harris (certified on April 27, 2023).

Rihanna released “Diamonds” as the lead single from her 2012 seventh studio album Unapologetic, which was nominated for the best urban contemporary album at the 2014 Grammy Awards. It earned RiRi her 12th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, where it spent three weeks on top of the chart. The song also topped Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs (1 week), Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (14 weeks) and Rhythmic Airplay charts (10 weeks).

She embarked on the Diamonds World Tour in support of Unapologetic, which she announced after opening the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards alongside her current partner A$AP Rocky, with whom she shares two sons RZA and Riot Rose Mayers. She reflected on their performance in her recent Interview cover story. “He grabbed my a– … So when he grabbed my a– that night, everybody thought I was about to … My team was worried that I wanted to have his head on a f–king mantle,” she said. “But I was like, ‘Ah, nah.’ That’s why everybody was like, ‘Oh my god. Taking some time off from trolling Diddy, aka The Diddler, 50 Cent continues to grow his Hollywood empire by launching his own studio.

On Thursday (April 18), 50 Cent took a page out of Tyler Perry’s book by launching his G-Unit Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The rapper/mogul also received the key to the city from Mayor Tom Arceneaux, and April 18 is officially known as 50 Cent Day in Shreveport.

The “Wanksta” crafter’s music career is no longer his focal point. Still, he has become one of the biggest names in Hollywood thanks to his slate of popular crime dramas like Power and its successful spinoffs Power Book II: Ghost, Raising Kanan, and Force.

He also has BMF, the series loosely based on the lives of Demetrius Edward “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry Lee “Southwest Tee” Flenory, all currently on the Starz network.

A large crowd was at Government Plaza on Thursday afternoon to see Diddy’s number one nemesis officially secure the lease for the property.

Per local news affiliate KSLA 12, 50 Cent and G-Unit Film and Television acquired a 30-year lease for the property at $2,400 per year, with an option to extend for 15 years.

50 Cent spoke on the epic moment, telling Billboard:

As someone who has always believed in the transformative power of music, film, and television, I’m beyond excited to introduce the expansion of my G-Unit Film & Television through the launch of G-Unit Studios right here in Shreveport.

From the gritty narratives of the streets to the compelling stories that define our era, G-Unit has always been more than just entertainment; it’s a platform for voices that need to be heard, stories that need to be told. Bringing G-Unit Studios to Shreveport is not just a business decision; it’s a commitment to fostering talent, creating opportunities, and building a community that thrives through creativity and innovation. We see Shreveport as a beacon of inspiration and creativity.

Mayor Arceneaux spoke about the move, potentially providing many job opportunities for Shreveport natives.

“We are thrilled that G-Unit Studios will plant its roots in Shreveport,” said Mayor Arceneaux. “This city’s rich culture and talent provides the perfect backdrop for this endeavor. We are eager to collaborate with Mr. Jackson and G-Unit Film & Television to bring captivating movies and entertainment to Shreveport and Caddo Parish.”

Congrats to 50 Cent and the G-Unit Film and Television team.

Rachel Chinouriri’s Conversational ‘It Is What It Is’ and 4 More Cool New Pop Songs This Week

Looking for some motivation to help power you through the start of another work week? We feel you, and with some stellar new pop tunes, we’ve got you covered.

These tracks from artists including Alfie Templeman, Debbii Dawson, Nxdia and more will get you energized to take on the week. Pop any of these gems into your personal playlists — or scroll to the end of the post for a custom playlist.

Coolest Pop Song of the Week: Rachel Chinouriri, “It Is What It Is”

Whether you’ve caught wind of Rachel Chinouriri through her TikTok-viral lullaby “So My Darling” or her blog-approved confection “All I Ever Asked,” the singer-songwriter has established herself as a must-follow for any pop fan looking for potential new stars. The London native has charmed festival audiences, and opened on Lewis Capaldi’s tour after sending the hitmaker a drunk DM; she possesses the ability to apply her vocal lilt to dance-friendly sprints like her 2022 single “I’m Not Perfect (But I’m Trying),” as well as jazzy nod-alongs like this year’s “What a Devastating Turn of Events,” which doubles as the title for her upcoming debut album.

There’s a lot to like about Chinouriri ahead of that project, due out May 3, and now new single “It Is What It Is” can be added to the list. As the whistle hook and bass creep are introduced on the track, two of Chinouriri’s friends caution her against reaching out to a dude — “No, no, NO, Rachel!” — in voice-note form, setting up the conversational tone and emotional exhaustion she adopts on the song’s verses. The way Chinouriri talks through her knotted-up feelings about an imperfect relationship, then pauses to drop a pristine chorus, is reminiscent of how The Streets’ Mike Skinner constructed his best songs two decades ago. This is storytelling and pop craft at a high level.

What a Devastating Turn of Events contains more moments that showcase Chinouriri’s talent and ambition, but “It Is What It Is,” arriving two weeks ahead of the album, makes for a strong introduction to her appeal for unfamiliar listeners.

It’s been more than a year since Nike released the SB x Air Jordan 4 “Pine Green” sneakers and just when it was rumored that Nike wouldn’t be dropping another colorway to the much revered collaboration, it seems like we will in fact be getting a new drop.

According to Sole Retriever, Nike is planning on revisiting the collaboration that changed the game for the Air Jordan 4 as far as comfort was concerned and will be releasing a new SB x Air Jordan 4 in a white and navy blue colorway. The news comes after rumors that the next colorway would be an all-black silhouette or even a white and red color blocking that never came to fruition. With sneakerheads giving up any hope that the SB Air Jordan 4’s would ever see a new colorway the resell prices for the “Pine Green”‘s began to jump with pairs going for as much as $800 depending on size.

Now with this white and navy SB Air Jordan 4’s, best believe the hype will slowly build as the release date creeps up and hypebeasts begin to get hungry for them.

Sole Retriever reports:

Sole Retriever can confirm that Nike SB and Jordan Brand will release an all-new Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Retro colorway for Spring 2025! This pair comes in Summit White Navy as part of Jordan Brand’s Spring 2025 lineup. The Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Retro Summit White Navy sports a summit white-based premium leather upper, highlighted by a suede toe wrap in neutral grey, identical in design to its Pine Green predecessor.

Moving on, navy blue has replaced pine green on the plastic eyelets, back heel tab, and midsole. The Jumpman logo on the tongue and insoles stays red, with Nike SB branding in white prominently featured on the back heel. A white sole with Zoom Air cushioning and hits of gum rubber on the toe and heel for better grip complete the look of this Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 Retro SP.

We. Can’t. Wait!

Check out pics of the SB x Air Jordan 4 “Summit White Navy” below and let us know if you’ll be trying to copp a pair when they drop in the Spring of 2025.

J Balvin Takes Billboard Behind the Scenes of His Coachella Set | Billboard News

J Balvin takes Billboard behind the scenes of his out of this world Coachella set. The Latin superstar shared his creative vision, a closer look at his alien space ship, bringing the aliens to life, getting Will Smith to make a guest appearance and more on this episode of Tour Stop.

J Balvin:
You know, finally we see that they do exist, you know it’s an official UFO. For the people that are gonna be on mushrooms, they’re gonna enjoy that s–t so bad. Gonna be the best mushrooms of their life.

Cassie Bartho:
Never a dull moment.

J Balvin:
Hey, what’s up? I’m J Balvin, and welcome to my tour stop. Let’s go!

We did Coachella for the first time: 2018 was with Beyoncé. Shout out, Beyoncé! Love you, queen. 2019 we did our show — it was great. And the story it’s once again is the same: I invest all my love, I invest everything, I had to give the people the best.

Ashley Evans:
We’ve done Coachella before with Jose …

J Balvin:
Listen.

Ashley Evans:
This is my time!

J Balvin:
I know it’s your time. But you know, I just want to let you know that this guys are from another planet. That’s his dad right there. He’s an alien.

Tetris Kelly:
Do you trust him with your set?

J Balvin:
1,000%. It probably wouldn’t be the same stage or show without him.

Ashley Evans:
Our concept for the show was to take people to outer space. We wanted to come up with a message that Jose is from another planet and he’s landed here at Coachella, and he’s got one message for the entire world and the entire festival. It’s like, ‘Let’s f–king party.’

J Balvin:
As a kid, I was have this feeling that aliens do exist in the universe … [it’s] too big. And we got to be too selfish to think that we just the only ones in this universe.

Since December 2022, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer has remained largely out of the public eye due to her diagnosis with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder known for causing uncontrolled muscle spasms that make it hard to move. Dion was forced to postpone all of her 2023 tour dates, before ultimately canceling the rest of her tour entirely. Last December, her sister Claudette revealed that Celine had “no control” of her muscles.

Dion made a surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards in February, presenting the coveted album of the year tropy to Taylor Swift for Midnights. “Thank you all,” she said to the applauding crowd, showing no signs of weakness. “I love you right back. When I say that I’m happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart.”

In March, the songstress spoke out on social media for International Stiff Person Syndrome Awareness Day. “Today the world recognizes International SPS Awareness Day,” Dion wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her smiling with her three sons. “As many of you know, in the fall of 2022, I was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day get back onto the stage and to live as normal of a life as possible. I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my kids, family, team and all of you!”
