Keke Palmer and SZA in a buddy comedy produced by Issa Rae? Sign us the hell up for that.

Deadline exclusively reports the four-time Grammy winner will make her acting debut alongside Palmer in a buddy comedy film that Rae will produce under her HOORAE banner.

ColorCreative’s Deniese Davis, Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks from Macro Film Studios will also produce.

Rap Sh!t director Lawrence Lamont will sit in the director’s chair for the project, with his Rap Sh!t teammate Syreeta Singleton handling the script.

The news comes after Keke Palmer and SZA recently teamed up for an episode of Saturday Night Live with Palmer hosting while SZA was the night’s musical act.

Deadline notes the film’s plot remains a secret and that the film was a product of the CoCre lab at Sony Pictures.

The lab was created by a previous pact between ColorCreative and Columbia Pictures to find and raise emerging diverse screenwriters and help them develop and write their first studio feature using original ideas.

This Role Was An Opportunity SZA Couldn’t Pass Up

SZA was considering numerous projects before joining the buddy comedy because working alongside Palmer was an opportunity she couldn’t say no to.

As for Rae, she has been the talk of the internet lately after her Insecure co-star, Amanda Seales, mentioned their lack of a relationship on a recent episode of Shannon Shape’s podcast, Club Shay Shay

It looks like Issa Rae is just focusing on rooting for everyone Black, putting people on, and ignoring the outside noise.

For Palmer, this latest project follows her stellar performance on Jordan Peele’s NOPE, as well as her other successful endeavors like her Emmy Award-winning self-created project Turnt Up With the Taylors, and her gameshow hosting gig, Password, which also earned her an Emmy.

We love to see it.

Jess Glynne Shares the Story Behind Her Photo With the Spice Girls & More | Behind the Photo | Billboard

Jess Glynne shares stories behind her photo with the Spice Girl, photos in the studio, performing on stage and more in this episode of Behind the Photo with Billboard.

Jess Glynne
Hey, I’m Jess Glynne and this is behind the photo with Billboard. This picture was taken in Rack studios in North London, where I’ve recorded a lot of this album. I remember it quite specifically, I wrote the intro to the album. And this was a moment where I was obviously listening to the record back and my friend Jolene, who’s my creative director for it, let’s take a nice little snap. This is a really like beautiful moment, because there was like a few tears actually, that day. This picture is me onstage last year at Radio 1, this was quite a special moment for me because I had not been onstage for I would say, three to four years. It’s been a minute, it was actually like a really big relief being onstage and like everyone’s reaction, and this moment, captures it all. This is a picture of me at Wembley Stadium with the Spice Girls. And this was just before our last show. This was one of the most surreal moments of my life. The Spice Girls was the first gig I ever went to at Wembley Arena as a kid, my manager came up to me, he was like, the Spice Girls are getting back together and doing a tour and they want you to go on tour with them. And I was like, shut up. And he was like, yeah, like, do you want to do it? And I was like, Is this real? Fast forward, it was real. I went on the tour with the Spice Girls. And it was one of the most insane moments and probably one of the biggest highlights of my career. And I will never forget walking out into that stadium for the first time. And there shows that in and I actually felt like a little kid. So that was a moment I will never forget. This is me pouting with my new merch hat on that says I take you for breakfast. And that is a lyric from my musical. “Enough” is a really important song for this record. It was the first song that I wrote that I decided was going to be on the album, it kind of set me up for the messaging of this record. And like when we were announcing the album, The only song that made sense to kind of release with that moment was this song because it kind of summarizes the journey that I’ve been on and where I’m at now. And it’s crazy because the songs kind of evolved for me in its meaning over the years, but when I listened to it now it’s like a really nice kind of reassuring message that I am enough.

KALEO Announces Additional Dates for Summer Payback Tour

KALEO is adding additional dates to the group’s summer itinerary, announcing new dates for the multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Icelandic rockers’ North American Payback Tour.

KALEO will begin headlining amphitheaters across the continent through the fall, kicking off at Hayden Homes Amphitheatre in Bend, Ore., on Aug. 25. The upcoming run will feature support from Chance Peña, Hembree and Larkin Poe on select dates.

Ticket presales for the newly announced dates begin Tuesday (April 30) at 10 a.m. local time, with general on-sale starting Friday (May 3) at 10 a.m. local time at officialkaleo.com.

Last week, KALEO was announced as direct support for The Rolling Stones show at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 11, as part of their 2024 Hackney Diamonds Tour. Then, KALEO will embark on a previously announced run of summer headlining dates starting at Dillon Amphitheatre in Dillon, Colo., on June 14, followed by a sold-out performance at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo. Last month, KALEO returned with the new single “Lonely Cowboy,” which is available on all streaming platforms and is joined by a stunning performance video shot inside Rome’s historic Colosseum. The stand-alone track notably marks the group’s first new original music in three years.

“Lonely Cowboy” hinges on a softly plucked acoustic guitar and sparse orchestration, while gruff, yet warm vocals remain the guiding force. “Guess it’s time to say goodbye to the rider of the night,” sings vocalist, guitarist, pianist, songwriter and producer JJ Julius Son as he paints a vivid picture underscored by a proud and intentional homage to Italian film composer Ennio Morricone.

JJ commented on the song, sharing, “It feels like a Spaghetti Western, and I love those vibes. My friends and family have always encouraged me to put it out, but now was the right time. It’s an important one for me.”

The Colosseum show took place in front of 250 of the group’s biggest fans at the Archeological Park of the Colosseum in Rome, joining the ranks of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, The Cure, Elton John and Paul McCartney as the only artists to ever perform an electric concert in front of the iconic monument. Presented by VERTIGO LIVE, a leading producer of cinematic live experiences, the momentous night was captured on film and will be released as KALEO: Viva Roma in the Shadow of the Colosseum later this summer. Stress is one of those feelings that’s unavoidable and at times it can stir up feelings of anxiety. Before you let anxious energy overrun you, one of the best stress relieving tools you can take advantage of is an anti-anxiety journal — and there’s a ton of medical research to back the benefits of an anti-anxiety journal.

The University of Rochester Medical Center claims that journaling can “help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental health.” And that includes managing anxiety, reducing stress and coping with depression. Journaling, experts say, helps give you a sense of control in times when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Using an anti-anxiety notebook can allow you to pinpoint stress and anxiety triggers, further allowing you to create a plan to help manage the feelings.

While yoga and meditation are common methods for reducing anxiety, you can’t always breakout the yoga mat — especially if you’re traveling. An anti-anxiety journal is not only compact, but can be used wherever and whenever you’re feeling anxious, making it the ultimate at-home or commuter gadget to have in your arsenal.

Rapsody Says to ‘Get the F— Outta Here’ With Any ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ Slander After J. Cole’s Kendrick Lamar Diss Track

During an appearance on the Bootleg Kev podcast, Rapsody was asked her feelings about J. Cole apologizing to fans and Kendrick Lamar after dropping his “7 Minute Drill” diss record from his recent mixtape Might Delete Later. On the track, Cole took shots at Lamar’s discography, most notably To Pimp a Butterfly, calling the Compton rapper’s third solo effort boring, rapping, “Your second sh– put n—as to sleep, but they gassed it.”

Rapsody — who, like Cole, is from North Carolina and was featured on Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly track “Complexion (A Zulu Love)” — was reluctant to give her opinion, but ultimately had this to say when asked about the apology.

Trending on Billboard

“I try not to speak on these things,” she began. “I hold my thoughts to myself. But, aye, he’s a man, he made his decision. But I’m just speaking from me, if I’m in that position? I love the spirit of what this is or the sport of it. And if it’s me, I’m goin’, ‘Homie or not, let’s go.’ You know, he approached it how he approached it.”

On the subject of To Pimp a Butterfly suddenly being considered mid, she wasn’t buying into that narrative.

“I thought about that when Cole made his apology,” she said. “And when he did it, I would never approach his discography. But at the art of war … war is war. But it’s funny to see the landscape of sheep to me. And it’s like, because we’re in this battle and he says it’s not good, everybody is like, ‘Yeah, we don’t think it’s that good’? Get the f— outta here.”

Shaboozey & Beyoncé Make History as ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ Replaces ‘Texas Hold ’Em’ Atop Hot Country Songs Chart

Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” bounds to No. 1 from No. 6 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart (dated May 4). The song, which interpolates J-Kwon’s 2004 hip-hop classic “Tipsy,” marks the first leader on the list for the Virginia native (born Collins Obinna Chibueze).

“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” surged by 95% to 20.9 million official U.S. streams; 1,202% to 170,000 radio airplay audience impressions; and 48% to 14,000 sold April 19-25, according to Luminate.

Trending on Billboard

Notably, as Shaboozey dethrones Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which reigned for the past 10 weeks, two Black artists have led back-to-back for the first time since Hot Country Songs became an all-encompassing genre ranking in 1958.

Shaboozey guests on two tracks on Beyoncé’s LP Cowboy Carter, which leads Top Country Albums for a fourth week (with 66,000 equivalent album units): “Spaghettii” (also with Linda Martell) and “Sweet * Honey * Buckiin’.” He recently told Billboard that he’s “so happy to have such a powerhouse of an artist that chose to take this journey to country, so it’s amazing to be a part of that.”

A week earlier, Shaboozey soared to No. 1, from No. 34, on the Emerging Artists chart and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” topped Digital Song Sales and Country Digital Song Sales, marking his first coronations on Billboard’s charts. He adds a second week atop Emerging Artists, while the track paces Country Digital Song Sales for a second frame.

The song is the lead single from Shaboozey’s American Dogwood/EMPIRE album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, due May 31. He previously released the sets Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die in 2022 and Lady Wrangler in 2018. He told Billboard that he describes the new LP as “a little bit of this genre that even Cowboy Carter created, just a bit of everything. A lot of country, but some hip-hop moments on there, too. But a lot of my personal story and journey.”

J-Kwon’s “Tipsy” ruled the Hot Rap Songs chart for five weeks and hit No. 2 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in 2004. The St. Louis rapper recently told Billboard of Shaboozey’s revival of the song, “It really ain’t even paying homage … let’s say it like this: we did that together, and I’m proud of him.”

All charts dated May 4 will update on Billboard.com tomorrow, April 30.

Taylor Swift Thanks Fans After ‘Unbelievable’ Hot 100 Chart Achievement

Taylor Swift made history once again as she claimed the top 14 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart dated May 4. All of the tracks, led by “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone at the summit, are from her freshly released album, The Tortured Poets Department.

“You’ve outdone yourselves, this is unbelievable,” the 34-year-old superstar wrote on social media on Monday (April 29), responding to the exciting news.

She also charts 32 songs – all 31 from the deluxe version of The Tortured Poets Department plus Lover stand-out hit “Cruel Summer” – on the latest list overall, the most ever in a single week by a woman. Swift was already the only artist ever to dominate the Hot 100’s entire top 10 — thanks to tracks from her last album of all-new material, Midnights, in 2022, led by the collection’s “Anti-Hero.”

Trending on Billboard

On streaming, Tortured Poets has also earned more than a billion listens across its 31 tracks on Spotify in just five days since its release, the fastest LP to ever do so. The milestone marks only the latest record Swift has set with the new album over the past few days, with Tortured Poets recently becoming Spotify’s most streamed album in a single day with more than 300 million streams accumulated in its first 24 hours of availability. Similarly, “Fortnight” set a new precedent for most single-day streams amongst individual songs on the platform.

“This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up,” Swift wrote of her latest project on Instagram upon its release. “There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it.”
