Drake Drops ‘The Heart Part 6’ in Ongoing Kendrick Lamar Feud, Dua Lipa & Usher Host Surprise Concerts & More | Billboard News

It’s Monday, May 6th, and the saga between Drake and Kendrick Lamar continued throughout the weekend. Drake released “The Heart Part 6” on Sunday as a response to Kendrick’s “6:16 in LA,” “euphoria,” “meet the grahams” and “not like us,” all released last week. Meanwhile, the Queen of Pop, Madonna, wrapped up her Celebration Tour in Rio de Janeiro breaking the attendance record. After her release of ‘Radical Optimism’ this past Friday, Dua Lipa had a surprise pop-up concert in Times Square. Despite the Lovers & Friends Festival being canceled, Usher still performed a show in Las Vegas with a surprise appearance from Lil Jon. After last week’s success on the Hot 100, will Taylor Swift still manage to hold all top 10 spots? Keep watching to find out! Plus, Billboard gives you All Access to the Project GLOW Festival, where we give you an exclusive look into performances and more.

Tetris Kelly:

Madonna’s insane crowd, Dua’s pop-up performance and Usher’s surprise. We’re still talking Drake and Kendrick Lamar. We run down the Billboard Hot 100 and take you to Washington D.C. for an EDM festival. Happy Cinco de Seis. Our first story is the story that keeps on giving. If you can keep up, let’s dive in. The Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud is still going strong, with a weekend full of new diss tracks to run through we’ve got you covered. Over the weekend Kendrick and Drake beef continue with Kendrick releasing a one-two punch. On “meet the ghrahams,” he attacks Drake alleging he he’s gotten cosmetic surgery. And on “Not Like Us,” he says this about Drake. Then Drake fired back on “The Heart Part 6.” Responding to Kendrick’s previous track, where he claimed he had people working inside Drake’s company OVO, and Drake says he made up a fake child to see if the rumor would get back to Lamar. That brings us to a total of nine diss tracks in a little over a month. I’m sure this is far from over, so stay locked in to Billboard for the latest. And the guys are giving us beef, while the ladies are giving us life. Plus, an update from Usher. Here are three things to know in music news. Madonna closed out her Celebration World Tour in Brazil, playing a free show in Rio de Janeiro. More than 1.6 million fans flocked to Copacabana beach, making it the most-attended concert of all time.

Ariana Grande Dazzles in Pearly White Gown at 2024 Met Gala

Ariana Grande has already been in a fairytale mind-set while filming her role as Glinda the Good Witch in the upcoming Wicked films, and on Monday (May 6), she was able to channel that fantastical vibe on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet.

The pop superstar wore a custom gown on the carpet, designed by Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson, with a sculpted bodice made entirely of mother of pearl and a flowing white skirt, accented with floral eye decorations.

During an interview with La La Anthony on the Vogue livestream, Grande explained the inspiration behind the look and said that mother of pearl happens to be her birthstone, while also relating to her Wicked role.

“I loved the tie-in of the opalescence and little hues of pink and green for Glinda’s bubble and for Wicked,” she said. “Pearls are just made in the most unexpected of ways. You never know what beautiful things you will find in unexpected places.”

When Anthony asked about Wicked — based on the beloved Broadway musical — Grande couldn’t reveal too much ahead of the first part hitting theaters in November, but she did gush about her co-star Cynthia Erivo and her experience on set.

“It was just the most extraordinary, transformative and beautiful experience I’ve ever had in my life,” Grande told Anthony. “I love the project so much more now, and I’ve loved it since i was 10 years old. Just to be able to be a part of its world and find new truths with Cynthia in these women.”

Grande and Erivo were reunited on the Met Gala carpet, where they embodied their two characters, with Grande’s pure-white look contrasting Erivo’s black floral look.

The duo were then seen kissing on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, according to photos published in Italian magazine Chi and shared on X (formerly Twitter). They made their red carpet debut in February at Clive Davis’s annual Pre-Grammy gala.

Shawn Michaels Invites Kendrick Lamar & Drake on ‘WWE NXT’ to ‘Settle This Thing’

Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been going back and forth for what feels like forever (it’s only been about a month). And each entry from the two heavyweights has gotten more and more personal.

On Lamar’s latest “Not Like Us,” the Compton rapper brings up wrestler Shawn Michaels’ finishing move, rapping, “Sweet Chin Music, and I won’t pass the aux,” in reference to kicking Drake in the figurative face with his barrage of diss tracks. The bar is also a nod to the Montreal Screw Job, an incident that involved The Heartbreak Kid and the WWE conspiring to unseat Canadian wrestler Brett “The Hitman” Hart as champion.

Just like the rest of us, Michaels has been paying attention to the feud, which started with Lamar teaming up with Future and Metro Boomin to diss the Canadian rapper on “Like That.” Michaels took to X and chimed in with a post that extended an invitation to both rappers “to settle this thing” on WWE NXT and even offered to mediate a resolution if they aren’t interested in stepping into the squared circle.

Since the likelihood of this going down is next to zero, Instagram user @shady00018_ made this hilarious video of how a wrestling match between Rap’s Big 3 might go, with J. Cole hitting the eject button while Lamar and Drake have a good ol’ fashioned no-holds-barred wrestling match.

It feels like this back-and-forth between Drake and Kendrick has reached every corner of the pop culture universe with the songs being played during sports broadcasts and actors offering up famous movie costumes for motivation.

MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch would’ve had a field day with this beef.

Tyla Ditches the Water for Sandy Gown in Met Gala Debut

Despite making a major splash last summer with her Billboard Hot 100 top 10 smash “Water,” Tyla went for a different classical element for her debut at the 2024 Met Gala on Monday evening (May 6).

In honor of this year’s dress code, “The Garden of Time,” the South African popiano star arrived in a gritty and glittery body-hugging Balmain gown that was meant to symbolize the sands of time, complete with an hourglass sand timer as her accessory.

“I’m wearing sand, basically, the sands of time. We really wanted something out of the box for this year. I walked with Balmain, it’s my first time at the Met,” she told Met Gala red carpet host La La Anthony. “It feels amazing, I’m so excited to go inside and see all the pictures when I go home…. I just love the outfit and how everything turned out.”

Despite having to cancel her Coachella festival performance and push back her North American tour due to an injury she announced in March, Tyla said she’s still looking forward to “tour, festivals… I just dropped my debut album, guys, go stream it! Tyla. I’m excited to drop more things.”

Tyla released her self-titled debut studio album on March 22, 2024 via Fax and Epic Records, and it reached No. 24 on the Billboard 200 and No. 8 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums while topping World Albums, where it’s spent the last two weeks at No. 1.

Lea Michele Cradles Baby Bump in Turquoise Gown at 2024 Met Gala

Lea Michele was all smiles at the 2024 Met Gala on Monday (May 6) — especially because she has a baby on board!

The pregnant Glee actress walked onto the green-splashed white carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art dressed in a flowing, turquoise Rodarte gown, complete with a white floral strap and a tulle shawl, perfectly capturing the “Garden of Time” dress code. The whimsical dress code is inspired by a 1962 J.G. Ballard short story of the same name. In the photos, she’s seen smiling wide as she cradled her baby bump.

The 37-year-old Broadway star, who is married to businessman Zandy Reich, revealed that she’s pregnant with her second baby back in March. In the pictures, Michele — who is already Mom to 3-year-old son Ever Leo — poses with a silky white shawl draped over her shoulders, cradling her baby bump as it peeks through the fabric. “Mommy, Daddy and Ever are overjoyed,” she captioned the post.

Bad Bunny Dazzles at 2024 Met Gala With Fairytale Flair: Learn the Symbolism Behind His Look

Bad Bunny’s style choices have always been unpredictable. As a co-chair of the 2024 Met Gala, he was expected to deliver an unforgettable fashion statement, and he certainly lived up to the hype.

His red-carpet appearance blended personal identity, cultural homage and fairytale fantasy, perfectly encapsulating the “Garden of Time” dress code.

His striking look consisted of a custom outfit from the Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection by John Galliano. Benito’s ensemble was laden with symbolic and cultural references; it featured a black satin corset and a navy barathea wool smoking jacket adorned with black grosgrain lapels. The jacket’s stitching was notably unusual, with an inside-out appearance that added an avant-garde twist to his attire.

Complementing the look was his gigantic beret made of blue foam paired with tiny sunglasses. This choice of headwear added a dramatic flair that was both whimsical and fashion-forward. On his feet, the “Me Porto Bonito” singer sported shoes that were no less unusual — they were crafted to resemble the shape of a goat, further enhancing the eccentric, storybook theme of his outfit.

Adding a personal touch and a nod to his heritage, the Puerto Rican hitmaker carried a black Flor de Maga, the national flower of Puerto Rico, which symbolizes the island’s bravery and resilience during challenging times.

Bad Bunny has never been afraid to rock unusually bold styles since his emergence in the mid-2010s; check out his style evolution throughout the years here.

The 2024 Met Gala is also co-hosted by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth.

Met Gala 2024: Photos From the Red Carpet

The first Monday in May is officially here, which means that today’s biggest stars, artists and professionals will take the luxurious white carpet at the 2024 Met Gala.

Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez served as co-chairs of the event at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 6, as did Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and, as usual, Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. All five co-chairs stepped onto the carpet upon its opening, rocking jaw-dropping colors and textures to capture the “Garden of Time” dress code. The whimsical dress code is inspired by a 1962 J.G. Ballard short story of the same name.

This year’s exhibit theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, is set to feature 250 items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, according to an Instagram post announcing the theme back in November. The exhibit will appear at the museum beginning on May 10. “From a 17th century English Elizabethan-era bodice and Christian Dior’s famous Junon and Venus ballgowns, to 21st century acquisitions by designers including Phillip Lim, Stella McCartney, and Conner Ives, the core exhibit will span 400 years of history,” the caption reads.

The works will be displayed at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in new ways, including elements such as video animation, CGI, AI and more.
