Sean Kingston Facing Decades-Long Prison Stint For Fraud

Sean Kingston is now facing a hefty prison sentence after he and his mother were federally indicted and charged with wire fraud totaling $1 million.

Last Friday (July 19), singer and rapper Sean Kingston was indicted in a federal courtroom in Miami, Florida along with his mother, Janice Turner on charges connected with a $1 million wire fraud scheme. The listed charges are one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud charges with the intent to defraud victim sellers of high-end specialty vehicles, jewelry, and other goods bought with fraudulent documents. If convicted, both face a prison sentence of up to twenty years.

In their statement, the United States Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of Florida said that Kingston, aka Kisean Anderson and Turner “unjustly enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment transfers.” The businesses targeted included a car dealership, from which Kingston and Turner are alleged to have stolen a Cadillac Escalade, and one individual who alleges that the two stole $480,000 in jewelry from them.

An attorney for that individual says that Kingston’s method was “basically a script, he says that he works with Justin Bieber, and obviously puts on a big show here, this is a rental house, he doesn’t own it, and he lures people using his celebrity into having them release things without him paying for it and then he simply never pays.” Kingston is best known for his 2007 single “Beautiful Girls”, which spent four weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He’s worked with Bieber, Wyclef Jean, and Nicki Minaj before stepping back from music.

The 34-year-old artist was arrested in Fort Irwin, California on May 24 which was the same day that a SWAT team and other police officers conducted a raid on Kingston’s home in the Southwest Ranches suburb of Fort Lauderdale. Turner, 61, was arrested during that raid. Both have had their issues with the law – Kingston is also accused of violating a probation sentence related to felony charges of trafficking stolen property which ends in October 2025. Turner served 16 months in prison after being convicted of filing fraudulent loan applications in 2006.

We’re just days away from finally indulging in the long-awaited, highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine and finding out if any of the rumors about the film, including multiple Marvel superhero cameos, prove to be true.

Until that day finally comes, Marvel released its final trailer for the film and in it not only do we get our first look at a very grown up X-23 (Dafne Keen), but we also learn why Wolverine is finally wearing his comic book accurate costume. Explaining that Cyclopes, Beast and Storm used to beg him to wear the yellow and blue X-Men attire, Wolverine tells Deadpool that he always refused to do so because he didn’t want them to think he was actually a part of their family.

Now that everyone is dead and gone, Wolverine finally suits up to help Deadpool save the multiverse from the likes of Cassandra Nova and Alioth.

How will they pull this off? Who knows. Will Wolverine really fight the Incredible Hulk as rumored? We hope so. Will we be catching this film this weekend? You betcha!

Megan Thee Stallion is doing more for the people of Texas than Governor Greg Abbott and Senator Ted Cruz.

Houston native Megan Thee Stallion continues to do right by the people in her hometown. Following Hurricane Beryl’s recent events, which left millions of people in the dark, the Hip-Hop superstar decided to help out those most in need of electricity: senior citizens.

The rapper, born Megan Pete, announced a partnership between her nonprofit organization, the Pete and Thomas Foundation, and local Houston nonprofit Bread of Life Inc. to launch an Emergency Power Program to help senior citizens across Houston.

In a press release, Megan Thee Stallion said about the program, “We need to do our part to provide our elders with the best resources possible to withstand future emergencies. That’s why we wanted to partner with Bread of Life to take a strategic approach to this problem and secure generators to help protect our senior citizens.”

Bread of Life Inc. Executive Director Rudy Rasmus added, “We want to expand our support of the most vulnerable people in the city, and Hurricane Beryl, the derecho, and other storms have highlighted that our seniors are in dire need of assistance.”

Thee Stallion and Bread of Life Inc. followed the devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl, which hit the Texas coast on July 8. 

The powerful storm caused widespread damage, flooding, and power outages to millions of residents. According to the Texas Division of Emergency Management, President Joe Biden quickly approved a disaster declaration for the state.

According to The Daily Beast, President Biden had a “tough time” reaching Texas authorities to get the ball rolling on federal aid because useless Gov. Greg Abbott was on an “economic development” trip to Asia.

HipHopWired got the chance to speak exclusively with YouTube star Bounty Tank, who is preparing to release his new album Kick Door University.

The world of reality television has produced quite a few notable stars, and with that in mind, it’s not hard to see how Bounty Tank is the next one up in that progression of fame. The Cleveland, Ohio native is the star of his own YouTube series (recently added to Tubi) which is in its sixth season and has over 780,000 subscribers including paid members in addition to a social media following of over 1 million subscribers. For Bounty Tank aka Franklin Frazier, becoming a bounty hunter was a pivot after attaining a nursing degree from Hampton University which he attended on a football scholarship. His goal to become a U.S. Marshal was put on hold due to hiring freezes, which led him to the world of bounty hunting.

A desire to serve his community and lead with understanding is at the heart of Bounty Tank’s mission, and that energy has led him to dive further into creating music, which is another passion of his. Beginning in 2019, Bounty Tank started to create and release singles, leading to his first album Skeletons being released in 2021. On the verge of his upcoming album, Kick Door University, HipHopWired got the chance to talk extensively with him about his music and his career.

HipHopWired: With your pivot into getting into rap, what was the inspiration for that? 

Bounty Tank: Honestly, what planted the seed was – “I got my own show, so why pay someone or pay somebody else for music on the show, when I can do my own?” I’ve always had a passion for music, so it just made sense.

HipHopWired: So with that – when you rhyme, what’s the energy that you like to evoke? Every MC pretty much has their own energy that they want to give off to their fans like for you? How would you define that?

Bounty Tank: I have energy just telling stories about what’s going on in my life. I’m a regular guy. So whatever the vibe is, or the story of the lyrics that I’m talking about, I just like to give. I have a lot of laid-back stuff. I got some songs where I’m just amped up. I mean, it just depends on the vibe of the song. So I think I’m naturally just a laid-back, kind of smooth type of rapper.



HipHopWired: With the album coming out, are we going to get that mixture?

Bounty Tank: The album is called Kick Door University, but the next single coming out, “Mr. Kick Door” is pure energy – I’m talking about “Okay, I need my money”, (laughs) and it’s full energy. It’ll be a mixture. There’ll be some smooth songs on there too.

HipHopWired: Pivoting back to the show – how’s the feedback been from fans who’ve stuck with you starting the show, seeing you evolve into this artist, in addition to being in the bounty hunter profession, how’s that feedback been?

Bounty Tank: Everybody’s excited. Everyone’s happy to be back. I’ve been gone for six months filming. So everyone’s excited man, they’re loving it. I mean, they like the excitement that the show brings, they like the music, and the energy coming with it. So yeah, it’s a good feedback. It’s crazy.

HipHopWired: One thing that I got from just getting the chance to watch some of the show -the one thing that stands forth is you pretty much being that presence of a guiding light. You’re doing it in a way that most people who have their own preconceptions of being a bounty hunter have them shattered. That is amazing to see. Is it challenging at times to keep that consistent?

Bounty Tank: No, that’s just embedded in me. At the core, I just like to help people so it’s not hard. You know, the people that receive it, they’ll get it and the people that don’t receive it, they just don’t get it. But I’ve always had that door open and lane open. So that’s easy for me because that’s just it’s me, it’s my core. 

HipHopWired: And you’ve gotten some great feedback already from like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre giving you a shout-out. Has there been anybody else, you know, from the rap world that’s been giving you the green light, like, “keep going”? 

Bounty Tank: It’s a lot of people that watch the show, man…Justina Valentine. she rocks with the show, man. Nick Cannon. There’s a ton of people. I was talking to DJ Drama a couple of months ago, he was on tour and he was watching the show, man. So it’s a lot of people tapped in. 

HipHopWired: So, what are your go-to songs, aside from your music, what are your go-to Hip-Hop tracks?  Something like, “I need to get my day started or maybe I want to wind down a little bit?”

Bounty Tank: Man, it depends on the vibe, what I’m doing. If I’m on some therapeutic, trying to chill and get my mind right, I’m going to listen to some J. Cole or Kendrick Lamar…it depends on the vibe and really what I have going on to get my day started. Just to get pumped up, man, I might throw some Lil Wayne. The Carter.

How to Watch Karol G’s ‘Mañana Será Bonito Forever’ Concert Livestream

Karol G‘s history-making Mañana Será Bonito World Tour will come to an end on Tuesday, July 23, with the Colombian superstar wrapping a year of touring at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, where she will become first artist to have four sold-out nights at that venue.

For the special occasion, Karol’s Mañana Será Bonito Forever concert — billed as a global celebration of the tour’s unprecedented success across the U.S., Latin America and Europe — will livestream via the hitmaker’s official YouTube channel.

Kicking off at 6 p.m. ET tomorrow, the show’s livestream was announced by Karol earlier this month in an emotional Instagram post in which she wrote in Spanish, “The time has come to close an unforgettable chapter in our lives. This album, more than songs, has been a journey of overcoming, of desire, of motivation and a band-aid for the soul.”

She continued in her post: “Every stadium we stepped in vibrated with the beautiful emotions that each one of you brought and we had the opportunity to fill thousands of hearts around the world. We are about to have the last concert of this tour and yes, it is hard to say goodbye to something that has meant so much to all of us, but the time has come and I want us to celebrate together! This July 23rd, our last concert, we will broadcast it through my YouTube channel, in real time, so that EVERYONE, anywhere in the world, can watch it and celebrate this beautiful thing we built together.”

The trek was in support of her record-breaking 2023 set, Mañana Será Bonito, which became the first Spanish-language album by a female artist to top the Billboard 200. The LP went on to win the Latin Grammy for album of the year and a Grammy for música urbana album.

Karol is the first Latina to headline a global stadium tour and was the highest grossing Latin touring artist of 2023. According to Billboard Boxscore, she grossed $155.3 million and sold 925,000 tickets from 20 shows, placing at No. 11 on Billboard’s all-genre year-end Top Tours chart. 

This year so far, Billboard previously reported that Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito Tour had earned $45.1 million and sold 419,000 tickets from nine shows. It landed at No. 2 on the gross-based Top Tours chart for April 2024.

“When I take the stage in a stadium, one of the reasons I cry is because I know one day this will all be over; I’ll be home remembering the time I was No. 1,” Karol told Billboard back in February. “That’s life.”

In a clip of her performance of her Billboard Hot 100 chart topper, “Flowers,” posted to Gucci’s social media, the 31-year-old star is seen delivering the lyrics in a sleek little black dress with a plunging neck line, paired with a lacy bralette, a chunky gold necklace and black sunglasses.

During the song, she made several playful quips, including calling out attendee Kendall Jenner. “Is that Kendall Jenner doing harmonies?” she says, pulling up her sunglasses to get a better look. She also changed the second verse lyrics from “cherry red” to “Ancora red,” in reference to a statement Gucci color introduced by the designer brand’s creative director, Sabato De Sarno.

Tucker Wetmore Announces His First Headlining Tour: ‘This Has Been a Dream Come True’

Country singer-songwriter Tucker Wetmore has had an extremely promising career launch thanks to a pair of songs that appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 and rose into the top 20 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart. His breakthrough hit “Wine into Whiskey” marked Wetmore’s debut Hot 100 single, and he swiftly followed with “Wind Up Missin’ You.”

Now Wetmore, who is signed to UMG Nashville in partnership with Back Blocks Music, is bringing those potent hits — and more — to his first headlining tour, the Waves on a Sunset Tour, a 16-show trek that launches Oct. 4 in Statesboro, Ga. Supporting Wetmore will be Hannah McFarland, Eli Winders and Ashland Craft.

Wetmore, who was featured as Billboard‘s Country Rookie of the Month for May, said in a statement, “I am so excited to be going on my first headline tour! Thank you to my fans and listeners for making this possible. This has been a dream come true of mine for so long. So excited to bring out some of my friends, Hannah McFarland, Eli Winders and Ashland Craft, on the road with me. God is good!”

In addition to his double-shot of hits, Wetmore also contributed music to the soundtrack to the movie Twisters, including the song “Already Had It” and the Conner Smith collaboration “Steal My Thunder.”

In addition to his own headlining shows, he’s set to join Luke Bryan’s Farm Tour 2024 and will open select dates for Jason Aldean, Jordan Davis, Jelly Roll and Dustin Lynch.

Wetmore is also working on his upcoming album, previously telling Billboard, “I’ve been working on songs for three or four years. The project is going to be all over the place when it comes to ideas — some cool country-type stuff, some that are more of an 808s-type of vibe. And there’s one song I’m definitely playing a little piano on, too. ‘Wine Into Whiskey’ did what it did, and it was really cool, but I don’t want it to just be a moment; I want to use the momentum to build something great.”

Benny Blanco Celebrates Selena Gomez’s Birthday With Adorable Relationship Throwback: ‘I Love U’

It’s Selena Gomez‘s birthday, but Benny Blanco would probably argue that he’s the one getting a gift.

On Instagram Monday (July 22), the producer celebrated his superstar girlfriend’s 32nd trip around the sun with an adorable post recalling one of the first times they worked together. In 2019, he dressed up as a life-size white teddy bear in their “I Can’t Get Enough” music video with Tainy and J Balvin. Five years later, he’s dating the Only Murders in the Building star, and Blanco appears to have given Gomez an actual white teddy bear as a birthday present that doubles as a callback to the origins of their relationship.

“i used to play a teddy bear in ur music video and now i get to b urs in real life…,” he wrote, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo of Gomez hugging him in his bear costume, as well as a current snap of her happily snuggling with her plushie.

Blanco added, “happy bday bb ! i love u !”

The two-time Grammy nominee commented on the romantic post, “I love you [teddy bear emoji]”

The Rare Beauty founder’s big day comes about a year into her relationship with Blanco, whom she started dating last summer. In recent weeks, the couple has been active together on TikTok, with Gomez enlisting the hitmaker earlier this month in filming an adorable put-a-finger-down challenge that revealed which of them said “I love you” first. (Spoiler: It was her.)

A few days later, Blanco convinced the “Single Soon” artist to try a wacky sandwich combination — pickles and cheese in between two slices of watermelon — that she definitely wasn’t a fan of.

In addition to finding love, Gomez has also had quite the triumphant year. Days before turning 32, for instance, she earned her first-ever Emmy nod in an acting category for her role as Mabel on Only Murders in the Building. Shortly before that, she and her Emilia Pérez costars — Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón and Adriana Paz — collectively won best actress at the Cannes Film Festival.  

“I’m honored and and insanely grateful for this,” she wrote on Instagram Stories earlier this week of the Emmy recognition.

For his third high-profile collaboration in basically as many months, enigmatic R&B crooner 4batz taps music icon and fellow Dallas-born crooner Usher for a remix of his NSFW cut “Act IV: fckin u again (18+).” The ski mask-clad singer keeps the same bars as the original, singing, “Can’t stop f–kin’ you/ ‘Cause your body drops like a prostitute/ And I cannot get enough of you/ ‘Give me a break,’ f–k is a break?/ I swear” over Nic Dreams’ unchanged production. Where 4batz’s tone can sound a bit steely at times, Usher’s voice provides a much-needed dose of warmth and seduction as he proclaims, “Gotta say, I’ll make sure you know a n—a name/ Usher, don’t forget the Raymond/ I pull up and blow it out the frame/ Roll with me, I’ll make you famous.”

Water Rayana Jay’s garden and watch her blossom. If there’s anyone in rap who is still fearlessly pursuing new ways to completely disassemble classic tracks and fashion them into a gloriously unique musical experience, it’s JPEGMAFIA. The Baltimore rapper calls on 2 Live Crew‘s “Hoochie Mama” for an endlessly shape-shifting amalgamation of thrashing metal guitars, stabbing house-inflected synths and rage rap. It’s complete hedonism and pure balls-to-the-wall madness; he raps, “She had issues with her father!/ I had issues with my barber!/ She off all of these drugs!/ Coke in her butt, RIP Aaron Carter!” With his Lay Down My Life Tour set to commence next month (Aug. 7), Peggy is making sure his crowds are pumped up with some relentlessly high-octane head-bangers.

Rob49 with Cardi B, “On Dat Money”

If you ever imagined Rob49 and Cardi B colliding on a track, “On Dat Money” is probably exactly what fans envisioned, and that’s not meant to be a slight. The New Orleans rapper’s raunchy fantasies combined with Bardi’s explicit bedroom exercises are going to make nuns cover their ears, but welcome to hip-hop. Rob made his debut on the Billboard Hot 100 last year with his guest appearance on Travis Scott’s UTOPIA album, and he looks to notch a first entry as a lead artist with the Cardi stimulus package.

Blxst, “Private Show”

Last week (July 19), two-time Grammy nominee Blxst dropped his long-awaited debut studio album, which featured collaborations with Anderson. Paak, Kamasi Washington, Feid, Becky G. and more. Stunna Girl steps in and raises the stakes with a braggadocious assist.
