Lil Uzi Vert Announces New Album, ‘Eternal Atake 2’ | Billboard News

Lil Uzi Vert is back with a new album, ‘Eternal Atake 2,’ and we run through all the details of their announcement. Keep watching for more!

Tetris Kelly:

Philly rapper Lil Uzi Vert announced a sequel to their 2020 album ‘Eternal Atake.’ They also revealed the artwork and a sci-fi-inspired trailer suggesting they were abducted by aliens on March 6, 2020, the day the first ‘Eternal Atake’ was released. The artwork for ‘Eternal Atake 2’ features a group of women with their eyes lit up as if they’ve been possessed by extraterrestrials. Uzi also dropped a 29-second clip of a TV show theme song entitled “Uzi the Earthling!” The clip maybe hints at a TV show, but nothing is confirmed. The way it sounds is reminiscent of TV show themes from the 1960s. Late in 2023, they originally planned to retire after dropping ‘LUV Is Rage 3.’ They made the announcement to the crowd while in Chicago for their Pink Tape Tour. ‘Eternal Atake 2’ is due out November 1.

How DistroKid Is Making It Easier Than Ever for Artists to Get Their Music on Spotify

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, Billboard may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

Recording songs is just one step in the music-making process. Next, emerging artists need to distribute their album, EP or singles on music streaming platforms in order to reach listeners.

Sources like YouTube and TikTok have become a popular method for exposure, but if you’re looking to reach a wider audience, DistroKid can instantly get your music on Spotify — and for as little as $2 a month.

What differentiates the platform from the rest isn’t just its simplicity, but its artist-first mind-set and ability to eliminate having to count tracks and pay royalty fees. In three easy steps, you can get your music quickly released on Spotify in addition to a slew of other benefits. You’ll need to sign up for DistroKid in order to take advantage of everything the service has to offer, but the platform offers a variety of affordable plans to choose from, starting at $1.92 a month (billed annually at $22.99).

Trending on Billboard

Make the most of your DistroKid access when you pick from the Musician, Musician Plus or Ultimate plan. The Musician plan is the base package for one artist that’s $22.99 a year and includes unlimited song uploads, your lyrics in Google, a Spotify verified checkmark, the ability to create royalty splits and access to the mobile app.

For more creative freedom, you can get Musician Plus for $39.99 a year ($3.33 a month) and utilize it for up to two artists while receiving everything in the Musician plan in addition to synced lyrics in Apple Music and daily streaming stats. You can flex your creativity further when you take advantage of the customizable features for a label name, release date, preorder date and iTunes pricing.

To save up to 40% off, you can go for the Ultimate subscription that’s $89.99 a year and includes everything in the Musician Plus plan in addition to 1 TB of storage, contact info for thousands of playlists and free iPhone app access.

Beyond receiving verification on Spotify, a DistroKid subscription gives you control over your artist profile, allowing you to update your photo, bio and links. You can help your music reach more listeners by pitching songs directly to Spotify playlist curators and even track streaming statistics, including number of streams, saves and engagements. The deep insight into your audience can assist in developing marketing plans — especially since DistroKid lets you view Spotify’s streaming charts.

In terms of getting paid, the platform handles all of that for you with payments distributed twice a week — and you get to keep 100% of the royalties.

GloRilla Surprises Fans By Rocking Fake Baby Bump on Instagram

GloRilla added some of her characteristic sense of humor to her social media page this week, throwing her followers for a loop when she shared a series of mirror photos cradling a baby bump.

While GloRilla did not caption the photos, she caught the attention of her famous fans in the comments, with Latto writing, “Gloria, gone on,” while Muni Long added, “You play!” along with a laughing emoji. See the post here.

The rapper, however, is not pregnant, and actually discussed parenthood in a recent interview with Charlamagne Tha God. “I do want to have kids, but not my own kids. I want to do a surrogate,” she said. “I want somebody else to have my baby. I want them to have my DNA, but I don’t want to have it.”

Trending on Billboard

She continued, “I just don’t want to actually have a baby… All my friends have kids, and they’re restricted a lot when they’re pregnant. I’m like, ‘Nah, I don’t want to go through that.”

Earlier this month, GloRilla dropped her debut album, GLORIOUS, featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Sexyy Red, Kirk Franklin, T-Pain and more.

“Last year, I was supposed to drop my debut album, but I was still just getting used to stuff and working a lot,” Glo told Billboard of the project. “When the top of the year came, I had the project basically done. I was like, ‘OK, I gotta give them the mixtape before I give them the album,’ because I went the whole year without dropping anything. That’s why I said I was gonna give them the mixtape first, get em’ back used to me first, give ’em a feel of me, and then that’s gonna prep me for the album. The mixtape did good and did what it was supposed to do, which prepped me for my album.”

Megan Thee Stallion has become an honorary member of a major girl group — but it’s not within the music industry. On Wednesday (Oct. 23), the 29-year-old made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where she also debuted her own jersey for WNBA‘s New York Liberty.

The “Savage” rapper immediately took to X to share her photos of her experience including a shot with some of the teammates while she held up her merch. While the artist is originally from Austin, Texas, she wasn’t shy to show her support for the 2024 champions, even performing her viral “Mamushi” dance with the teammates.

“Im on @FallonTonight TONIGHT hottiesss make sure you tune in ? also s/o to my girls for putting me on the team ? @nyliberty,” the caption for the post reads.

NY Liberty made history this year winning their first-ever championship against the Minnesota Lynx. The night of firsts didn’t end there though as it was also the only time a winner-takes-all overtime game has occurred in WNBA history, according to NBC New York.

The best way to show your support for the women’s basketball team (beyond attending games in person) is to rep their official merch. As the 2024 champions, the athletes have a line of exclusive championship merch that you can stock up on and show off.

His son, Hit-Boy also shared a caption explaining why he and his pops were making so much music this past year. “People used to ask me what was I on dropping so much music and moving around with my pops so much,” he began to explain, “In the back of my mind, the paranoia of him going back was always there and here we are. We don’t know what the future holds but Big Hit sends his love to all his supporters. He recorded over 700 songs when he was out so we got more music otw.”

Hit-Boy and Big Hit have been making impressive music since the elder Hit was released from prison in May of 2023. The 53-year-old served a 15-year sentence in federal prison after being caught with 10 kilos of cocaine, 10 guns, and $300,000 in cash while his son was growing up, according to a Men’s Health profile. He then found himself back inside for a 12-year sentence for a crime connected to a hit-and-run accident six years after he got out.

Los Angeles Times Editorials Editor Resigns After Owner Refuses To Endorse A Presidential Candidate

Los Angeles Times Editorials Dragged For Not Endorsing VP Harris

One Los Angeles Times Editorials editor is standing on business and wants to be on the right side of history, while the owner of his former employer opts to stay neutral.

Mariel Garza said, “screw you guys, I’m out,” after the publications owner refused to let the Los Angeles Times Editorials board endorse a presidential candidate.

Speaking with the Columbia Journalism Review, Garza said she is “resigning because I want to make it clear that I am not okay with us being silent. In dangerous times, honest people need to stand up. This is how I’m standing up.”

Patrick Soon-Shiong, the owner of the Los Angeles Times, told the editorial board earlier in the month the publication would not be making an endorsement, something it has been doing since 2008.

According to the CJR, the editorial board was set to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

In her resignation letter, Garza wrote, “Presidential endorsements don’t really matter,” adding that “reality bit me like cold water on Tuesday when the news rippled out about the decision not to endorse without so much as a comment from LAT management, and Donald Trump turned it into an anti-Harris rip.”

She wasn’t kidding. The Trump/Vance campaign immediately sent an email, calling the Los Angeles Times decision the  “latest blow to Harris-Walz.” “Even her fellow Californians know she’s not up for the job.”

Garza continued that the decision not to endorse “makes us look craven and hypocritical, maybe even a bit sexist and racist. How could we spend eight years railing against Trump and the danger his leadership poses to the country and then fail to endorse the perfectly decent Democrat challenger — who we previously endorsed for the US Senate?”

Patrick Soon-Shiong Says A Whole Bunch of Nothing

Shiong took to X, formerly Twitter, to try and explain his decision not to endorse a presidential candidate:

So many comments about the @latimes Editorial Board not providing a Presidential endorsement this year. Let me clarify how this decision came about. The Editorial Board was provided the opportunity to draft a factual analysis of all the POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE policies by EACH candidate during their tenures at the White House, and how these policies affected the nation. In addition, the Board was asked to provide their understanding of the policies and plans enunciated by the candidates during this campaign and its potential effect on the nation in the next four years. In this way, with this clear and non-partisan information side-by-side, our readers could decide who would be worthy of being President for the next four years. Instead of adopting this path as suggested, the Editorial Board chose to remain silent and I accepted their decision. Please #vote.

In an election where one candidate, Donald Trump, is praising Hitler for having loyal generals and being blatantly racist, you would think you want your paper to stand side by side with the other candidate to keep a fascist out of the White House.

Welp.

Malibu Babie Signs With ONErpm Ahead of New Single

Two years after she became the first and only woman to debut at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot R&B/HipHop Songs as a producer this century — thanks to Nicki Minaj‘s Rick James-indebted “Super Freaky Girl” — Malibu Babie has found a new home.

On Thursday (Oct. 24), ONErpm announced that the artist/producer signed with the distribution and marketing company; “Baddie Bakery,” her new Flyana Boss-assisted single, is due Friday (Oct. 25).

Trending on Billboard

“Malibu Babie’s producer accolades speak for themselves and it’s time for the world to recognize her as an artist,” said Alex Ziabko, denior director of A&R at ONErpm, in a statement. “Malibu reminds us all to have fun from time to time. I’m thrilled to welcome such a strong, creative, forward-thinking artist to ONErpm.”

“I’m so excited to be releasing music with the ONErpm team” added Malibu Babie. “Alex & the incredible team of women he’s brought on to support me — Jenna LoMonaco, Julia McLeod, & Casey Childers, immediately understood my artistic vision and unique path as a producer/artist. I’m thrilled to bring my music to life with an innovative team who takes my mission to trailblaze as seriously as I do!”

In addition to her forthcoming new single with Flyana Boss — the hip-hop duo behind the 2023 hit “You Wish” — Malibu Babie is also prepping a new mixtape for 2025. Beginning Oct. 31, she will join Qveen Herby‘s The Alchemist tour as a supporting act. The trek will commence at The Novo in Los Angeles, visit major cities such as Toronto and New York, and conclude at The Fillmore Miami Beach in Miami on Nov. 23.

Recently, Malibu Babie has landed placements with Katy Perry and Kim Petras (“Gorgeous”), as well as official remixes of tracks from Sia and Kylie Minogue (“Dance Alone”) and Shania Twain (“Giddy Up!”). She released her debut mixtape, Malibu SZN, Vol. 1, in November 2022.

Hailing from Olympia, Wash., Malibu Babie graduated from Vanderbilt University, where she made an eleventh-hour decision during her senior year to ditch her law school aspirations and go all in on music. After six years of toiling in the industry — including a stint as a studio intern for a company called ZMG in Nashville — she finally struck gold with “Super Freaky Girl.”

Minaj’s 2022 smash debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated Aug. 27, 2022, becoming Minaj’s first unaccompanied No. 1 hit on the chart. The “Super Freak”-sampling track also helped Minaj become the first solo female rapper to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 since Lauryn Hill did so with “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998. The same week “Super Freaky Girl” reigned as America’s most-consumed song, Malibu Babie notched a second Hot 100 entry, this time with Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Her,” a house-inflected track from Megan’s Traumazine LP. That track, whose music video earned three nods at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, peaked at No. 62 on the Hot 100.

Charli XCX Dubs Herself, Chappell Roan & Sabrina Carpenter the ‘Holy Trinity’ Ahead of Primavera Sound

Glory be to the father (Charli XCX), the son (Sabrina Carpenter) and the holy spirit (Chappell Roan). Amen.

Shortly after the Primavera Sound lineup was announced Thursday (Oct. 24), featuring all three women with top billing, the “365” singer took to X to declare that she and her co-headliners have now officially formed a sacred union.

“headlining primavera sound next year with sabrina and chappell,” Charli tweeted. “finally holy trinity unlocked ;)”

Taking place at Barcelona’s Parc Del Fòrum June 5-7, the festival’s lineup will also feature sets from LCD Soundsystem, FKA Twigs, Fontaines DC, Clairo, Haim, Turnstile, Wet Leg, Beach House, Waxahatchee, Beabadoobee, Caribou, Anohni, Denzel Curry and more. The Brat summer ring leader previously performed at 2024’s iteration of Primavera Sound, which was headlined by Lana Del Rey, SZA and more.

Trending on Billboard

Regarding Charli’s tweet, it’s easy to see the connection between her, the “Espresso” singer and “Good Luck, Babe!” musician. All three pop stars had explosive breakthrough years in 2024, with the “Von Dutch” artist’s LP Brat reaching No. 3, Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet hitting No. 1 and Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess ascending to No. 2 on the Billboard 200. All three of those chart peaks mark career highs for the artists.

Charli is now in the midst of her Sweat Tour with Troye Sivan in support of Brat. In a recent interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, the “Boom Clap” artist revealed that she originally didn’t think her latest album would “appeal to a lot of people,” something that partially inspired her now-iconic lime-green text-only cover art.

“Where the actual first idea of doing a text cover came from was to save money,” she said at the time. “It actually feels like it very much embodies the word ‘brat’ to kind of not be there, because that is sort of less of the norm, I suppose, for female artists. That felt punchy. The pixilation makes it looks like it’s kind of been done in this rush … you didn’t get the proper hi-res file… I knew it would generate this conversation. I knew that a lot of people would be sort of frustrated or disappointed by it.”

See Charli’s tweet below.
