Nine Inch Nails Appear to Be Readying a 2025 World Tour

It’s been a while since Nine Inch Nails toured on a grand scale, but speculation is mounting for a global tour announcement to arrive soon following some leaked dates.

News of a potential tour was first put forward on Monday (Jan. 13) when fans on the Nine Inch Nails subreddit began to share screenshots of what are ostensibly prematurely-posted Facebook events for the upcoming shows.

In a thread titled “It’s happening (?)”, a fan shared a screenshot of an event which lists a Sept. 10 date for the Peel It Back World Tour to take place in Tampa, FL. Another user tracked down a Ticketmaster listing for the event which shows an on sale date of Friday (Jan. 17).

Though these fans confirmed that the events were swiftly taken down following their listing on social media, a collation of the supposedly leaked dates featured shows scheduled for the likes of Brooklyn, Tampa, Atlanta, Raleigh, Philadelphia, and Cleveland throughout the U.S., along with dates in Manchester and London in the U.K., and a Canadian show in Toronto.

Currently, none of the dates have been confirmed by the band, though the tour title alludes to Nine Inch Nails’ 1994 track “March of the Pigs”, potentially indicating the rumored tour could be an anniversary trek in support of the band’s The Downward Spiral record, which turned 30 in 2024.

Nine Inch Nails haven’t performed live since the completion of their U.S. and U.K shows in 2022. Prior to that, their last concert tour took place across 2017 and 2018, with The Trilogy Tour seeing them play 69 shows across North America, Europe, and Asia.

In recent years, the veteran industrial act (which comprises founding member Trent Reznor and – since 2016 – Atticus Ross) have been more focused on soundtrack work, which has seen them take home numerous Golden Globes, Grammys, and Academy Awards.

In April 2024, Reznor noted that his work with Ross had left the pair eager to work on a new Nine Inch Nails album. “[Soundtrack work has] managed to make Nine Inch Nails feel way more exciting than it had been in the past few years,” he said. “I’d kind of let it atrophy a bit in my mind for a variety of reasons.”

Ross added he feels, “excited about starting on the next record… I think we’re in a place now where we kind of have an idea.”

Mac Miller’s Posthumous ‘Balloonerism’ Album to Be Accompanied by Short Film

The upcoming Balloonerism record from late rapper Mac Miller is set to release alongside a short film of the same name, a new announcement says.

Miller’s Balloonerism – the second posthumous album released since his 2018 passing – is scheduled for release on Friday (Jan. 17), though fans can ease themselves into the experience with its accompanying new film.

Based on the lyrics and music of Miller, and directed by Samuel Jerome Mason, the animated Balloonerism “follows a group of school friends who are transfigured by the music of a chord organ and launched into a shadow world”, a synopsis of the film reads. “Swallowed by the turtle of time, they must plod through the underbelly of adulthood.”

The film is scheduled for a Wednesday (Jan. 15) release throughout the U.S., with international fans receiving it one day later. A series of “One Night Only” advance theater screenings are scheduled around the world, including in New York City and Miller’s native Pittsburgh. Other screenings are planned for Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Ireland, France, Canada, and the U.K.

In keeping with the theme of the new record, tickets are priced at $5 (or the “approximate equivalent in ex-US markets”) in line with the album’s lead single, “5 Dollar Pony Rides”.

Miller’s Balloonerism album has been the subject of fan speculation for over a decade now, with the rapper having recorded it around the time of his 2013 album Watching Movies with the Sound Off and follow-up mixtapes, Delusional Thomas and Faces. Following the circulation of leaked songs amongst fan communities, the record’s official release was teased with a trailer at November’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival.

“We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist,” they added. “Given that unofficial versions of the album have been circulating online for years and that releasing Balloonerism was something that Malcolm frequently expressed being important to him, we felt it most appropriate to present an official version of the project to the world.”

Last week, “5 Dollar Pony Rides” was shared ahead of the album’s arrival and features Miller’s close friend and collaborator Thundercat helping out on the production side of things.

Here’s What Travis Kelce Has to Say When Asked If Taylor Swift Is Writing Songs About a ‘Good’ Guy After ‘So Many F-Boys’

Travis Kelce may have accidentally dropped a Taylor Swift Easter egg.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday (Jan. 13), where he was asked about being around his Grammy-winning girlfriend while she’s finding musical inspiration.

“Let’s just say you’re hanging and out and having a little dinner and all of the sudden the creative juice sparks,” McAfee began, “and the absolute beast that you’re sitting with who is going to go down as maybe the most famous icon in the history of music … are you a motivator every single time?”

Kelce responded that he would “never chime in” during Swift’s writing process, “but I’m here to support it. I’m here to see where it can go.”

When McAfee suggested Swift might be working on an album about a “good” guy (joking that he’d heard about all the “f—boys” on previous albums, thanks to his Swiftie wife), Kelce cheekily said, “There might be a few.”

“You know I can’t say, you know I can’t say… any of that,” he continued. “I hear music everywhere.”

The superstar’s last album was The Tortured Poets Department, which was released back in April. Swift’s 31-track 11th studio album was No. 1 on the 2024 year-end Billboard 200 albums chart, followed at No. 2 by Swift’s own 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which was released in 2023. Tortured Poets outperformed all of her past albums on the Billboard 200 by spending 15 weeks at the top of the chart. The LP arrived amid Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour, which wrapped last month after 149 shows.

Elsewhere in the new interview, Kelce talks to McAfee about his role in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore sequel and how “bananas” the crowd was at the Eras Tour concert at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium in November.

Amazon Commits $10M to L.A. Wildfire Relief Efforts

Amazon is committing $10 million to L.A. wildlife relief efforts, the company announced on Monday (Jan. 13). The donation comes from Amazon’s entertainment division (Amazon Music, Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios), along with Ring and Whole Foods Market.

According to a blog post on the Amazon website, the money “will go directly to national and local disaster and response organizations including the American Red Cross of Southern California, FireAid, MusiCares Fire Relief Effort, World Central Kitchen, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Habitat for Los Angeles Wildfire Fund, and Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce Small Business Relief/Recovery Fund, among others, as well as in-kind advertising opportunities on Prime Video for nonprofits supporting LA fire relief efforts.”

Amazon has already donated more than 145,000 essential items to 17 local organizations working on the wildfire response, including fire stations, community fire brigades, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Dream Center and multiple YMCA chapters. This includes 30,000 items to the Los Angeles County Salvation Army, 5,000 shelter items, more than 300 wildfire response items, gift cards to LAUSD to support teachers who lost their classrooms in the fires and 1,000 items to support fire stations, among many others.

The company says it’s also “deploying” its AWS cloud technology, including drone support, “to help emergency responders better understand and react to the evolving wildfire situation.” Additionally, it says it’s “curating opportunities” for its Southern California employees to volunteer with organizations including the LA Regional Food Bank and LAUSD.

Amazon’s announcement follows similar commitments made by companies including Sony Group Corporation, which on Monday said it would donate $5 million to wildfire relief efforts, as well as the Warner Music Group/Blavatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund, which pledged $1 million.

The melancholy midtempo hit — which has so far peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 — got its biggest look when Eilish performed it at the closing ceremony for the 2024 Summer Olympics, playing the song from Long Beach in August to signal the Games’ handover from Paris to Los Angeles is 2028. Sony Group Corporation Pledges $5 Million for L.A. Wildfire Relief

Sony Group Corporation has pledged $5 million to support relief efforts related to the Los Angeles-area wildfires.

The sum will be allocated to organizations supporting first responders, community relief and rebuilding efforts, as well as employee assistance programs.

 “Los Angeles has been the home of our entertainment business for more than 35 years. Through our many thousands of employees, partners and friends based there, our roots run deep in this community,” said Sony Group Corporation chairman/CEO Kenichiro Yoshida and president/COO/CFO Hiroki Totoki in a statement. “We will continue to work with our local business leadership to determine how best Sony Group can support relief and recovery efforts in the days ahead. Our thoughts go out to those who are impacted by this devastating situation.” 

Sony joins other entertainment companies who have pledged money to the fire relief efforts. Also on Monday (Jan. 13), the Warner Music Group/Blavatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund pledged $1 million, directed to organizations assisting the Los Angeles community, local first responders and individuals in the music industry affected by the disaster. Recipients of the pledge include the California Community Foundation, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Project HOPE and MusiCares, among others.

Universal Music Group (UMG) will take the money it would have spent on its Grammy party, which it canceled Monday, and redirect it to aid wildfire relief efforts.

“Today we have cancelled all of our Grammy-related events, including the Artist Showcase and After-Grammy Party, and will redirect the resources that would have been used for those events to assist those affected by the wildfires,” UMG said in a statement.

Additionally, the Walt Disney Company has pledged $15 million to help rebuild L.A. Among the recipients will be the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

“Time to disappear,” Big Draco wrote to X. “PS Drake u went out sad.”

The 6 God diss seemingly came out of nowhere as Soulja was ranting about the Los Angeles evacuations and the imminent TikTok ban coming to the United States.

He continued: “If they really remove tiktok then that means America is fucked… Whole LA burned down like it was nothing… I don’t know who needs to hear this but this world is evil.”

It’s unclear what exactly Soulja Boy saw regarding Drake that set him off but fans speculated in the replies it was related to his “Fighting Irish” freestyle targeting LeBron James, legal action against Universal Music Group or tied to his blockbuster feud with Kendrick Lamar last year.

Drake and Soulja Boy have seen their careers crossover at various points since they teamed up for “We Made It/Trophies” in 2014.

Big Draco went viral during his 2019 The Breakfast Club interview where he claimed Drake copied him “word for word, bar for bar.”

Soulja Boy expanded on his Drake explosion when he later joined Big Boy’s Neighborhood. He claimed Drizzy stole the first bar from his 2007 track “What’s Hannenin” for 2010’s “Miss Me” featuring Lil Wayne.

“You gotta understand the timeline. In 2006 I was 16, an underground artist. [Drake] was still on Degrassi. I was really in the streets dropping fire,” he said. “He was watching me, copying me. So, when he got a deal and came out with his first big single he copied me and ain’t nobody know what he was copying. They thought that was an original Drake bar, quote… He stole my whole s–t.”

Over the weekend, Fivio posted a snippet on TikTok where he somewhat addresses the situation. “And my real name Max/And I really got plaques/Double digits, no cap,” he raps as Fivio references his real first name Maxie. “I’m the real Plaqueboymax, Plaqueboymax, Plaqueboymax, Plaqueboymax/I’m the real Plaqueboymax/ In the crib, countin’ all my plaques/Tell Kai Cenat react to that.”

Now, yesterday (Jan. 13), Plaqueboymax reacted to the snippet on his stream and asked whether Fivio was “dissing” him or “shouting [him] out.” However, he smiled and took it in stride, although, he did admit that he would be hitting “not interested” whenever he comes across the song on social media. “Every time I hear this song, I will be hitting Not Interested, reason: other,” he confessed. ‘If they got harassment, I’ll click that sh—t. Y’all make sure y’all get this sh—t going, though. But not on my TikTok. This not For You page. Sorry. Can’t do it. No sir.”

He then grew annoyed by fans in the stream chat suggesting that he should record a song dissing Fivio and Lil Tjay, but he revealed that he wasn’t interested. “Why do y’all wanna bring that side of me out?” he asked. “That’s a super negative side of me. I don’t give a f—k to diss neither of these n—s.” Adding, “The sh—t [Fivio] made, he’s dissing himself. He’s damn near dissing himself.”

Village People to Perform at Donald Trump’s Inaugural Events

Village People have joined the presidential inaugural activities for Donald Trump.

The group took to Facebook on Monday (Jan. 13) to announce that they have “accepted an invitation from President Elect Trump’s campaign to participate in inaugural activities, including at least one event with President Elect Trump.”

They continued, “We know this wont make some of you happy to hear however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics. Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost.”

The statement concluded, “Therefore, we believe it’s now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump.”

She shared to Billboard via a statement, “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
