Donald Trump and his stupid tariffs are already having an unfortunate impact on regular American lives. If you were one of the excited gamers hoping to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2, we have some bad news.

Orange Mussolini continues to show his financial incompetence, especially regarding tariffs and how they work. After Trump’s masterclass in tanking the global economy following his bonehead announcement of “reciprocal tariffs aimed at countries, mainly our allies, he feels have treated us “unfairly.”

Anyway, it’s no secret the tech space, mainly the gaming community, was apprehensive about the effect of Trump’s looming tariffs, and low and behold, we are seeing just how impactful they will be.
Nintendo is gearing up to launch the Switch 2, with preorders in the US set to go live on April 9. However, the Japanese-based company has taken the unprecedented step of delaying preorders because of the tariffs imposed on Japan and Vietnam.
Nintendo spoke on its decision sent to Gamespot:
“Preorders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the US will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”

Gamers Are Not Happy
As you can imagine, gamers who were excited to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2 are unhappy with their decision. The Nintendo Switch 2 is already expensive, but the 46% tariff on Vietnam, where the company has shifted the manufacturing of the console, could raise the price even more.
The 24% tariff on Japan is also significant because that’s where the physical cartridges are made.
“Once again if you are a gamer who voted for Trump you are stupid as shit. Get ready video game fans. You think these shits are expensive NOW?!? BWAHAHAHAHA we’re f****d,” one user on X, formerly Twitter wrote.
Another post on X read, “Not only is the Switch 2 preorder delayed, it is also possible Nintendo will increase the price for the US market. This is a HUGE mess.”
Bruh.
It hasn’t been a year with this man, and he is already ruining our lives.

Federal prosecutors have unveiled an updated indictment against Sean “Diddy” Combs, adding new charges to the sex trafficking and racketeering case just over a month before trial. In a superseding indictment filed Thursday (April 3) in Manhattan federal court, prosecutors made several tweaks to the sweeping case against Combs, which claims that the hip-hop mogul […]

Yup, the Wu-Tang icon himself was behind the mask, and when he hit the stage for his performance of Bell Biv DeVoe’s classic “Poison,” he absolutely shut it down. The energy was electric, and Meth’s stage presence was undeniable, reminding everyone why he’s one of the greatest to ever do it. The judges were completely stumped, scratching their heads and trying to guess who it was. But Rita Ora wasn’t fooled for long. She quickly called it, saying, “I knew it was you! Your voice is so distinct — and you moved like a pro!” She knew right away, and she was right.

For Meth, the experience was all about doing something unexpected. He told the show, “I had fun with it. I’m always down to do something unexpected, and The Masked Singer let me just go out there and play. That’s what it’s about.” And that’s exactly what he did. He gave the fans a whole new side of himself, showing that even after decades in the game, the legend still knows how to keep it fresh. Method Man proved once again that he’s not just a rap icon; he’s a true entertainer.

“Metaverse” gives Cage the Elephant its fourth No. 1 in a row, the band’s longest streak, besting two other runs of three straight (in 2010-11 and 2015-16). The current stretch dates to 2021, also encompassing “Skin and Bones” that year and “Neon Pill” and “Rainbow” in 2024. The band first topped the chart in 2010 with “Back Against the Wall.”

Concurrently, “Metaverse” bullets at its No. 6 best on Adult Alternative Airplay. On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, it lifts 9-7 with 3.3 million audience impressions (up 8%) in the week ending April 3, according to Luminate.

Elton John is good at a great many things. But on Thursday night (April 4), the pop superstar found out that one thing he has not quite mastered is the art of the late night game show. Appearing on The Tonight Show with his longtime friend and Who Believes in Angels? collaborator Brandi Carlile, John, 78, was paired up with host Jimmy Fallon for a game of “Password” against Carlile and Sinners star Hailee Steinfeld.
Things started off easy enough with Fallon and Carlile pulling a card reading “Grass,” which prompted John to guess “marijuana.” Brandi went with “greener,” which stumped her partner, who guessed “plant.” Fallon pivoted to “mow,” which made John crack up at the thought of doing lawn work himself. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer quickly put it together, thought, and correctly guessed the answer.

That’s when things went sideways. When it was John’s turn to give Fallon a clue for “Sunday,” he waited patiently as Steinfeld offered up “Saturday” and a gentle nod toward the next day to Carlile, who could only hazard a guess at “night.” John then looked at his card, cockily shook his head and said, “Sunday!” Game host Steve Higgins cracked up, gently reminding the rock icon that he can’t actually say the clue out loud.

As The Roots busted out a sad trombone, John looked embarrassed, but quickly joined the laughter at his slip-up, clarifying that what he meant to say was “weekend.”

And to think the night had started off on such a high note. After his monologue, Fallon moved over to his desk to tee-up the duo’s appearance later in the show and just couldn’t help himself in enthusing about John’s deep catalog of hits. That inspired Jimmy to start reading off a list of Elton’s hits, segueing into singing the choruses of “Your Song” and “Tiny Dancer” a cappella before cueing the Roots to give him a beat for “Rocket Man,” and proving with that song and “Daniel” that he loves the classics, but might not always know all the lyrics.

After first trying “Daniel” with what sounded like an Irish accent, Fallon requested a reggae rhythm from the Roots, prompting a switch to a rasta accent. He then moved on to scatting the lyrics to “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” beatboxing the piano intro to “Bennie and the Jets” and busting out his Mick Jagger impression for “I’m Still Standing” during the six-minute supercut bit.

John and Carlile then came out to talk about their first joint album, with John recalling how the “Broken Horses” singer wrote him a letter expressing her admiration, long before they finally were introduced in person during his Las Vegas residency at a time when John knew who Carlile was, but had never crossed paths with her. “She wrote me a letter and explained that she’d been a fan of mine ever since she was a kid,” John said. “And I was the reason she wanted to make music and Bernie’s [Taupin] lyrics were the reason she wanted to write lyrics.”

Carlile asked if he’d ever consider a collaboration, and John, a longtime supporter of new and emerging artists, said he would definitely be down. The minute the two finally met up in the studio, John said, “I fell in love with her. And I fell in love with her talent, her voice. But more than that, I fell in love with the person. And we’ve become firm friends. We’re like family.” After that, collaborating, he said, was a “no-brainer,” because ever since that first intro he’d wanted to record with her; the pair first collaborated on John’s pandemic-era The Lockdown Sessions LP on the song “Simple Things.”

They finally got in the studio in L.A. in Oct. 2023 with Taupin and producer Andrew Watt with “nothing” written beforehand. John described the first few days as “very anxious” because he was doubting his ability to create on the spot, despite the blank sheet method being his preferred way of collaborating lately. Though Carlile said she too was anxious, things pretty quickly clicked and after recording the epic album opener, “The Rose of Laura Nyro,” the parts seamlessly fell into place.

“It just turned out exactly the way I wanted it,” John said. “It sounded fresh. It’s the best album I’ve made since the early ’70s.”

After finishing the last of seven concerts at GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City March 30 as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour, Shakira announced she would return to Mexico in August. Her encore will bring her total shows played in the country to 22, a record for a single tour. Shakira initially played 11 stadium shows in Mexico, selling them all out, and eventually announced additional shows for August and September, including one more stop at GNP Seguros Stadium. Her eight performances there will be a record.
It’s the latest success in a string of them for the Colombian star. Last week, Billboard reported that, for the month of February, Shakira topped the monthly Top Tours chart for the first time, earning $32.9 million from 282,000 tickets sold that month, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore.

Shakira follows Bad Bunny, Los Bukis and RBD among Latin artists who have topped the monthly ranking, making her the first solo Latin woman to hit No. 1. This also marks the first time Shakira ever tops the chart, which launched in 2019, after she finished her previous outing, 2018’s El Dorado World Tour.

All those tickets sold are particularly sweet success for Shakira, who not only hadn’t toured in six years, but hadn’t had this level of success with her recorded music, either. Since 2019, as is by now very well known, the global superstar split up with her longtime partner, Gerard Pique, moved from Barcelona to Miami, turned her heartbreak into chart-topping songs, and now, at 47 years old and as the mother of two children, is in the midst of what will be the biggest tour of her career.

At her side is manager Nadine Eliya, who after working with Shakira in different capacities for years, took over management in 2023 after the Colombian star moved to Miami and started releasing new music. While that was a project in and of itself, Shakira’s new tour, a massive endeavor that kicked off last month in Brazil, is the Colombia’s star most ambitious move yet. Originally slated to be an arena tour, Shakira scrapped those plans last fall, following reaction to her new album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Sony Music Latin), and announced she was doing stadiums instead. And while she had to cancel three South American dates —two for production issues and one due to illness — her Mexico run has more than made up for lost time.

Given the extraordinary resurgence of Shakira, spotlighted by her No. 1 spot on Top Tours for February, Eliya is Billboard’s Executive of the Week. Here, she speaks about crafting Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, and its impact on the touring market.

You’ve had many Shakira highlights in the past year, but these Mexico concerts feel particularly significant. Is that the case?

These Mexico concerts were so rewarding in so many ways. It’s nice to see a Latin American city leading on a global scale as a concert city market, and only reinforces the massive growth we’ve been seeing in the Latin market over the last 10 years. To be breaking such significant records 30-plus years into your career is a testament to Shakira’s longevity and the care we’ve taken to keep creating music that draws new fans while deepening the connection with the ones who have accompanied her all along the way.

Shakira went from having a much-publicized split with her longtime partner two years ago to now leading Billboard’s tour recap for the month. What was the biggest challenge in achieving this?

The biggest challenge, I think, was being able to channel the pain into productivity, into growth, into a tool for connection. I think her music last year has struck a chord with so many women who felt like she gave a voice to their same feelings and frustrations and made them feel seen.

I think people may think, it’s Shakira, she’s a global star, this is easy…

Ha! Every new leg of a stadium tour brings its own challenges, and every achievement only brings ideas for new goals we want to reach. It’s a misconception that when you get to the top, you relax. It only makes the stakes higher. And I’m bad at relaxing.

What has been the biggest challenge in putting together this stadium tour?

The biggest challenges were bringing a production of this size to Latin America, which had never been done before in many of the markets we visited. Also,  thinking big picture about where we want to be at the end of it, the milestones we want to hit, and how we plan to get there.

What can you tell us about the concept of the tour?

It’s all about female archetypes, connection and empowerment. If you notice, many of the interludes, that are a CGI-animated Shakira — an industry-wide first — center around an archetype: the warrior, the mother, the primal she-wolf. The idea was to take the fans on this journey with her and to walk out feeling uplifted and empowered. And I think she delivered beyond anyone’s expectations, including her own.

What were your expectations when you started to plan, and what are they now?

I think we expected to surprise fans with a big show but we didn’t expect how emotional the reaction would be and what a movement it’s become, this experience of attending her concert.

A couple of weeks ago, Shakira also released the music video to “Ultima,” a very melancholy ballad that looks back at her relationship. Why now?

We filmed that video a while back, but we wanted to release it at a time that had meaning to it. It felt like a beautiful bookend to a year after the release of such a personal album and sharing it from a very different place than when the song was written, after the live [version] of the song has connected with so many on tour. It was a gift for the fans who offered so much support through a difficult time.

While on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday (April 3), Hailee Steinfeld opened up about her engagement to Josh Allen and played a game of Password with Elton John — in front of whom, as she recalled on the show, the Sinners star once sang as part of his Grammy salute in 2018.
After teaming up with Brandi Carlile to face off against Fallon and Sir Elton for Password — which the comedian and rock legend ended up winning after a hilarious “Crocodile Rock” clue moment — Steinfeld recalled the “craziest” experience of performing alongside Sam Smith, SZA, Shawn Mendes and more for 2018’s I’m Still Standing – A Grammy Salute. When Fallon asked whether it was a lot of pressure to perform in front of the icon, she replied, “Uh, yeah! Oh my god, are you kidding?”

“But no, because he has such a wonderful, calming energy and welcoming energy,” she continued. “Just the craziest thing to be in his presence.”

Fallon went on to congratulate Steinfeld on her recent engagement to the Buffalo Bills quarterback, which the couple announced in November after more than a year and a half of dating. Of her new home in Buffalo, NY, the “Starving” singer said, smiling, “I have been given a very warm welcome.”

“The people are incredible, it’s such a wonderful, wonderful place,” she added. “I love it so much.”

After Steinfeld and Allen shared news of their engagement, posting an adorable photo of the football star down on one knee as the Edge of Seventeen star covered her mouth with shock, the city of Buffalo erected a billboard reading: “The Queen City has a new queen. Congratulations, Josh and Hailee.”

Looking at a photo of the sweet gesture, Steinfeld told Fallon, “That is one of the cooler billboards.”

This year, the Bills had an excellent season, making it all the way to the AFC Championship before the Kansas City Chiefs bested them on their way to the Super Bowl. Steinfeld is a passionate champion of her fiancé’s team, and in February, she hilariously threw shade at their rivals when she was asked to name the four AFC teams in a Who What Wear interview. “You got the Buffalo Bills and the Bills’ three sons,” she replied pointedly at the time.

Even so, Steinfeld did manage to find some nice things to say about the Chiefs when she was challenged to do so in a new Hot Ones Versus episode posted the day prior to her Fallon interview. “I can find nice things to say about anybody, even if I don’t like them — even if we don’t like them,” she said while facing off against her Sinners costar Michael B. Jordan, though it proved to be more difficult than she thought.

“Yellow and red really complement them all pretty well,” she said to avoid eating a spicy wing, struggling to think of more things to say as Jordan laughed at her. “They are very loud … it’s great you want that from a fanbase. And third, they go hard for their team.”
