Ayra Starr and Wizkid linked up again on “Gimme Dat,” which she released on Thursday (April 24).
The Sabi Girl teased the collaboration a week earlier in an Instagram video of her vibing out to the tropical-tinged dancefloor filler while watching the sunset before the song cuts to Wizkid singing, “God da–,” which Starr used as the clip’s caption.
Produced by VybeO and Mikabeatz, “Gimme Dat” samples Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s 2000 hit “911,” which reached No. 6 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was nominated for best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocal at the 2001 Grammy Awards.
Starr and Wiz first collaborated on “2 Sugar” from the latter’s 2022 More Love, Less Ego album, which was nominated for best Afrobeats at the 2023 MTV VMAs (in the category’s inaugural year); her 2022 hit single “Rush” was also up for the same award. Both artists have earned Grammy nominations in the best African music performance category, with Starr scoring a nod with “Rush” and Wizkid notching his fifth nomination with his “MMS” collaboration with Asake.

“Gimme Dat” is her second single of 2025, following “All The Love” in February, and his first musical release since his sixth studio album Morayo, which came out last November via Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records. In May of last year, Starr dropped her sophomore album The Year I Turned 21 via Mavin Global and Republic Records. Both Morayo and TYIT21 peaked at No. 4 on World Albums.
