Project Pat is a Memphis Hip-Hop legend. As part of the seminal group Three 6 Mafia, the man born Patrick Earl Houston, who also happens to be the older brother of Juicy J, helped make sure that besides the East and West coasts, there was plenty to say and hear coming out of the middle of the map.
So Witness To History linking up with Pat was practically a requirement. The homie from WKYS, Aladdin Da Prince, held down the hosting duties and chopped it up with Pat for an insightful episode.

Leslie “Big Lez” Segar is a cultural icon. Full stop.
Many people have contributed to Hip-Hop culture in a myriad of ways over its 50 year history. Big Lez hold a special place in the hearts of Hip-Hop heads thanks to making her mark as host of BET’s Rap City, dancing (and choreographing) classic music videos and just being the ultimate tastemaker and influencer before they were even defined.
So the Witness To History history leaped at the chance of chatting with Big Lez about her making her mark and making sure Hip-Hop didn’t remain a boy’s club. Peep the knowledge the Queens native dropped above.

As the Witness To History podcast chugs along, Hip-Hop Wired decided to look at 50 years of our beloved genre from a fan’s, participant’s and journalist’s perspective. For the latest episode, Senior Editor D.L. Chandler and Director of Content Alvin aqua Blanco chatted about what the culture means to them along with attempting to recap some of the best moments, artists, and more over its five-decade lifetime.
Recapping 50 years of Hip-Hop is frankly an impossible feat, but we did manage to key in on some topics and MC”s we think didn’t get enough burn during the run-up up the culture’s milestone birthday this past August. Regardless, we’ll only continue to big up the best of Hip-Hop, and with a critical eye when necessary until it hits 51 and beyond.
The convo was so fluid we decided to break up the episode into two parts. Tap in above and below. And be sure to check out past Witness To HIstory episodes right here.

While East Coast, West Coast and even Southern cities get plenty of attention when it comes to Hip-Hop, you can’t forget Chicago when discussing the beloved genre. So making sure we documented some official Chi-Town rap lore for the Witness To History podcast was essential.
Hip-Hop Wired presents Witness To History: 50 Year of Hip-Hop Greatness sat down with rap legend Twista, Fake Shore Drive founder Andrew Barber, and rapper (and OG Kanye West homie) GLC to talk all things Chicago Hip-Hop. The Morning Hustle’s Kyle Santillian got these game changers to delve deep into the pride they feel for their city and how they helped push its contributions forward.

Fifty years is a long time, and that means a legion of important contributors to Hip-Hop culture. Some have been more involved than others, and out of that batch is a smaller fraternity of game-changing artists.
Covering all of them for a 50 year anniversary tribute is nearly impossible. But it’s with the mission of honoring those too often dismissed for flashier, mainstream names that Hip-Hop Wired presents Witness To History: 50 Year of Hip-Hop Greatness, a podcast series that speaks to important industry players whose unique stories deserve as much shine as possible.
So it only makes sense that the first episode be an in-depth conversation with the legendary DJ Kid Capri. The Bronx native is a savant on the turntables and is a virtual encyclopedia of Hip-Hop knowledge. With WKYS’ Aladdin Da Prince as the episode’s co-host, Kid Capri delves into topics like his mixtape innovation and his time on the iconic Def Comedy Jam.
