Pop Culture Rewind: The Beatles’ Chart Achievements | Billboard News

We take a look back at The Beatles‘ chart achievements in the latest episode of Billboard‘s Pop Culture Rewind.

Evan Burke:
There’s no group like The Beatles. Before BTS, before Taylor Swift, The Beatles captivated fans with Beatle Mania, and the legendary band had the hits to back up the hysteria. We break down their Billboard chart achievements in this week’s Pop Culture Rewind.

From “I Want to Hold Your Hand” in 1964 to making us “Come Together,” The Beatles have amassed a record-setting 20 No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100, the most of any artist. At one point The Beatles held all top five spots on the chart with everybody wanting to “Twist and Shout.” That record was held until September of 2021, when Drake grabbed the top five slots.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr are one of the most influential groups of all time, setting the standard for fan culture, boy bands and more. Get this: They also have 19 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 with projects like Please Please Me and Abbey Road, bringing them to a whopping 132 weeks at No. 1, easily ranking them as the act with the most weeks atop the chart.

It’ll be a long time before anyone ever does it again quite like The Beatles.

We’ll have another huge moment for you next week in our Pop Culture Rewind.

P!nk Ejects Concertgoer, Nick Cannon Talks Mariah Carey’s Support & More | Billboard News

A moment from P!nk’s Summer Carnival Tour is going viral on TikTok as it shows the singer stopping her show to address a protester. Becky G shares her go-to spot to eat while visiting home, her dream collaboration and more on Speed Dating. Nick Cannon says if it wasn’t for the support he received from ex-wife Mariah Carey during his lupus diagnosis, he “probably wouldn’t be alive.” And more.

Rania Aniftos
P!nk has an interesting protester at her concert. Gwen Stefani opens up about loving life with Blake Shelton. Nick Cannon gives Mariah Carey credit in his health journey. We go speed dating with Becky G. And d4vd goes fishing for answers. Welcome to another episode of Billboard News. I’m Rania Aniftos. It’s Wednesday, September 27th. And we’re starting things off with another incident at a P!nk concert.

Rania Aniftos
P!nk kicked a guy out of one of her shows this week for protesting an unusual thing. During her San Antonio show P!nk had an attendee removed after he interrupted her to protest circumcision. No, I’m not joking. In a TikTok captured by 3BTreasureCo, the singer can be seen interacting with a guy shouting at her while onstage when he holds up his phone to show her his message. After the guy turns to show the audience the message on his phone that appeared to read “circumcision cruel and harmful,” P!nk told the audience he came here tonight to talk about circumcision. The “Trustfall” singer then told security to remove him before giving one final message. Now we’re moving on to Becky G. Tetris took her on a speed date to get to know her a little better.

Tetris Kelly
It’s Tetris with Billboard News and Becky G, I want to ask you a question.

Becky G
All right.

Tetris Kelly
Have you ever been on a speed date?

Becky G
No. I’ve never actually been speed dating. It sounds fun, though.

d4vd Plays Fishing for Answers | Billboard

d4vd plays Fishing for Answers with Billboard.

d4vd
Hey everybody, I’m d4vd and I’m going fishing for answers with Billboard.

d4vd
Who are some emerging artists that you think people should listen to? Lavae is one of them. Of course, this crazy like, electronic kind of funky, hip-hop artist named Odetari. This kid named Juju, recently found him. He makes songs with his little sister as well. I love them. Juju, shout-out to Juju.

d4vd
Number two, who’s made me the most starstruck? I think the person that has made me the most starstruck — SZA for sure, meeting SZA six months ago at MSG, so it was kind of like the most insane moment of my life.

d4vd
Number three, first concert I’ve ever attended — SZA’s concert six months ago at MSG, first show I ever saw my life by the way, never seen the show before that she was the first artist I ever saw live in concert.

d4vd
Number four. Oh, my secret talent. It’s not a secret anymore, but I can do gymnastics. I do a lot of flips on stage and off stage. I’m very nimble, and acrobatic.

d4vd
Number five last one who I love to collaborate with on my next album. There’s this amazing artists that and Scott James that I recently had opened up for my U.S. run of tour. We’ve recently been working a lot together and I would love to have him on my project. Super Amazing. Scott James, and that is fishing for answers with Billboard.

Darius Rucker Talks His New Album, Hootie & the Blowfish, Working With Ed Sheeran & More | Billboard News

Darius Rucker talks about his first new album in six years, Carolyn’s Boy, why he wanted to name the album after his mom, the success of Hootie and the Blowfish, working with Ed Sheeran, the recent popularity of country music on the Billboard charts and more!

Darius Rucker:
You’ll sing a line and he’ll sing it back and he’s singing it different and he’s saying different words, but they’re just better. Hey, I’m Darius Rucker, and this is Billboard News.

Tetris Kelly:
Hey, it’s Tetris Kelly with Billboard News hanging out with Darius Rucker. How’s it going?

Darius Rucker:
Oh, good. I cannot complain.

Tetris Kelly:
We’ve got to talk about this new music. So Carolyn’s Boy is out on Oct. 6, six years since your last release. So why now? What has taken six years?

Darius Rucker:
When the pandemic hit and everything, it slowed everything down. But it also made it to where, you know, there was no rush for the record, so I took my time. I think it’s time for it to come out.

Tetris Kelly:
And then of course, Carolyn’s Boy, obviously, referencing your mom. So what was it like to name the album after her?

Darius Rucker:
You know, it was during the pandemic, and everything over writing the record, and I was having a bad day. And I just remember, I just said to myself, “You know, at the end of the day, I’m just my mama’s boy.” And so I decided I was gonna name it Carolyn’s Boy after that, but … it was just, she’s been, she was such a big influence on me. And she was so important in my life. And, you know, it was time for me to do something special with that.

Paramore teased something on socials, writing out some dates in the Notes app, and it appears they’re teasing something related to their album This Is Why. The first date listed is Friday, so we’ll know more then!

Jharrel Jerome Shares What’s on His Playlist | Billboard

Jharrel Jerome chats with Billboard and shares what is on his current playlist.

Jharrel Jerome:
Hey, what’s up guys? I’m Jharrel Jerome, and this is my playlist.

My workout playlist would usually include a lot of Travis Scott or oddly enough, a lot of Afrobeats. I’m super into, like, grooving on the treadmill.

My road trip playlists will probably be a Drake album, probably a full Drake album, because there’s a good range of music. Or Tame Impalam, actually. Depends on where I’m driving, actually. If I’m, like, down the PCH? Tame Impala.

Singing in the shower, Frank Ocean, or anything that makes me feel like I can really, really sing. Brandy.

And those are my playlists!

Charles Kelley of Lady A on Being Sober, His Sobriety Journey & More | Billboard News

Lady A stopped by the Billboard News, and Charles Kelley talked about his journey with sobriety and how he is feeling today.

Charles Kelley:
I’m getting close to 15 months. I never thought that I would actually enjoy it, you know?

Stephen Daw:
Of course.

Charles Kelley:
I kind of was like, “OK, I want to do this. I’m gonna do this for my family. I’m gonna do this for my band. I’m gonna do it for myself.” But I never really thought I would actually, you know, enjoy it like I have, and I think it’s the energy you get from, you know, not having crazy nights and all those different things. But just also for me, I think it’s, it’s kind of led me a lot closer to my spirituality. It’s led me to look at myself and what I want more. Like, what am I doing? What am I standing for? What do I want the next 20 years? And I think, you know, sometimes you have to kind of hit that little point of desperation in a way, I think, to find that and I’m just … I’m glad I hit it, you know, in my 40s and didn’t wait till later on in life.

Rania Aniftos:

The fight continues for Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner as the kids are ordered to stay in New York. Drake is back on top with a new Hot 100 hit and we learn more about Vic Mensa as he goes Speed Dating.

Hey, everybody! Happy Monday! I’m Rania Aniftos, it’s Monday, September 25th, and this is Billboard News.

We have a lot of sports today in the show, so let’s start off with Taylor Swift’s big game. Football season is in full swing and Taylor Swift is in her football era as she was spotted at the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday.

Taylor Swift was spotted sitting in Travis Kelce’s box at the Chiefs vs. Bears game this past Sunday wearing a team jacket and cheering alongside Mama Kelce. Cameras were quick to show Taylor with Travis’ mother enthusiastically cheering for her rumored boyfriend. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed that he invited Swift to watch him play, saying in an interview, “I threw the ball in her court. I told her I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead. You might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead.” Barstool Sports caught the two leaving the game together and posted it to their IG. The Chiefs beat the Chicago Bears 41 to 10. I think Taylor might be a lucky charm.

We warned you it was a sports day. From football to more football, Usher has some big news.

That’s right, Usher will be headlining Super Bowl 58.

It was announced over the weekend that Usher will be headlining the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show presented by Apple Music on February 11th, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Usher:
We’re really excited about the entire thing. Obviously, a legacy, but more than anything, the fact that this is the most grand stage to ever play on.

Rania Aniftos:
The Atlanta singer used the clip from his “Confessions Part II” music video to make the announcement by receiving calls from Kim Kardashian, Marshawn Lynch, Odell Beckham Jr. and Deion Sanders. During his career, he has had 18 top 10 hits on the Hot 100, including nine No. 1s with songs like “You Got It Bad,” “Yeah!” featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris, “My Boo” with Alicia Keys, and “OMG” featuring Will.I.Am.
