Eminem’s ‘Houdini’ Backlash, Drake’s ‘Wah Gwan Delilah’ Feature, Cardi B vs. Bia | Billboard Unfiltered

In the fifth episode of Billboard Unfiltered, Billboard staffers Damien Scott, Trevor Anderson and Carl Lamarre break down Cardi B & Bia’s beef from verses to allegations made. They also discuss Eminem’s return to rap with “Houdini,” the backlash he’s receiving with the Megan Thee Stallion reference, and how his career has evolved with age. The trio also dives into Drake’s music post Kendrick feud and more!

Damien Scott:
Cardi is so big. To me, her going on live and doing all this is like, it’s, like, so messy.

Carl Lamarre:
Are you guys checking for an Eminem album 2024?

Damien Scott:
Yeah. I listen to every Eminem album.

Carl Lamarre:
Wow!

Trevor Anderson:
Drake jumped that thing into the top 10.

Carl Lamarre:
It slid pretty …

Trevor Anderson:
We’re not talking about slides.

Carl Lamarre:
We are back with a fresh episode of Billboard Unfiltered. We have Mr. Trevor Anderson back with us.

Damien Scott:
Welcome back, Trev.

Trevor Anderson:
Yo, what’s up? It’s pretty good to be back.

Carl Lamarre:
How was Paris?

Damien Scott:
Was it a vacation?

Trevor Anderson:
Yeah, it was.

Damien Scott:
Passport on pivot?

Trevor Anderson:
Yeah, you know.

Damien Scott:
As they used to say.

Trevor Anderson:

Yeah, but it was nice. It was a good time. I appreciate y’all. Yeah.

Carl Lamarre:
This week, pretty formidable. You know, in terms of what we got going on. First off, Cardi B versus Bia. Cardi B last week, she jumped on GloRilla’s and Megan Thee Stallions remix for “Wanna Be,” had, you know, some things to say about Bia, which she threw a little bit of shots.

Damien Scott:
Can you break down this beef? Do you understand how this beef started?

Carl Lamarre:
So, I think, this is just like, guilt by association type s–t, because, you know, Bia’s team Minaj right? Team Nicki. So you know.

Brent Faiyaz’s Journey as an Independent Artist, Creating ISO Supremacy & More | Billboard Cover

Billboard cover star Brent Faiyaz paved the way for many other independent artists. With his success independently, he was driven to create a network where independent artists could thrive, which is how ISO Supremacy came to life. Brent Faiyaz talks about his journey as an independent artist, his advice to other independent artists, why ISO Supremacy’s mission is to support independent artists and more!

Brent Faiyaz:

I really like doing what I want to do. And then I like being able to say no to things that I don’t want to do. The main thing that comes with giving up a piece of your independence is not being able to say no. It really isn’t no deeper than that for me. So I think I just want to, I want to inspire people to not be OK with being told what to do. You can’t grow like this. How are you going to be constant? How are you gonna grow when mother—-ers constantly say no, no, stay down. So before people decide they want to do deals and they want to, they want to take these large amounts of money and they want to collab with this person, that person, I want people to really sit and think about like, you feel me, are they going to be okay with not being able to control the sh*t that they want to do? I was making money selling beats, like in high school, middle school. But that’s like a lot of how I got my friends like when I was young. Like it’d be like growing mother—-ers coming into the house like to get beats off me and sh–. And my parents are like, who are these grown adults coming by the house like to like what is thid going on, like bruh, people like my music.

Vado ft. Dave East & D. Weathers “Chinese Spot,” A$AP Twelvyy “Bronx Zoo” & More | Daily Visuals 6.5.24

HipHopWired Featured Video

Vado’s really been going hard as of late with the new work and new visuals that he’s been dropping off on the weekly and today he links up with a fellow Harlemite who’s on the same G sh*t that the violence and drugs only rapper has been on for quite some time.

In the visuals to “Chinese Spot,” Vado connects with Dave East and D. Weathers at, well, the Chinese spot where they’re joined by a gang of people who get turnt, poured up, and ultimately order some grub from the Chinese spot they’re chilling in front of. Remember when you could get chicken wings and French fries drowned in ketchup for $5? Those were the days.

Keeping the scene in New York (kinda), A$AP Twelvyy shows love to the Boogie Down but for his clip to “Bronx Zoo” the A$AP Mob member heads to Japan where he takes in the night life and cool environment that’s pretty close to that of Times Square in the Big Apple.

Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Sauce Walka, Valiant, and more.

Lady Gaga Responds to Pregnancy Rumors & Taylor Swift Defends Her | Billboard News

After fans speculated that Lady Gaga may be pregnant, she took matters into her own hands and responded to the rumors with a Taylor Swift reference. The “Anti-Hero” singer herself slammed the rumors about Gaga, and we have how she responded and more.

Tetris Kelly:
Lady Gaga wants you to stop the pregnancy rumors, and she’s using Taylor Swift to do so. Taylor’s got something to say. Yeah, you heard us right. We have the story.

Fans had been looking at photos of the global pop star and speculating on if she was pregnant, which honestly, in 2024, are we still doing that? Well, Gaga felt the need to set the record straight by posting this on TikTok. In addition to the hilarious sound she used, saying she’s not pregnant and encouraging us to vote. People are obsessed. She said she’s down back crying at the gym, referencing this Taylor Swift song.

Taylor commented, “Can we all agree [that] it’s invasive and irresponsible to comment on a woman’s body. Gaga doesn’t owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman.”

We agree. How about you two do a song together? This isn’t the first time Gaga was over pregnancy rumors. Last time in 2019, she said she was pregnant with LG6. So hopefully this time it’s LG7 and features some TayTay.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor Talks Performing ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ at WeHo Pride 2024 | Billboard News

Sophie Ellis-Bexter performed her hit brought back to life “Murder on the Dancefloor” at WeHo Pride 2024. She talks to Billboard about how the LGBTQ+ community has supported her throughout her career, her tour in America, a new album in the making and more!

Sophie Ellis-Bextor:
I know that there’ll be some young people that will only ever know me as the “Murder on the Dancefloor” lady. But to be honest, that’s absolutely fine with me. “Murder on the Dancefloor” is very much the sort of thing I do. I’ve been doing pop disco since I started. So if you’re intrigued, and you want to find more, there’s plenty of it.

I can kind of credit pretty much everything about how I performed to my relationship with my LGBTQ+ audience because it’s been those shows that I’ve done, they’ve really kind of crystallized and helped me feel safe on stage — excited and relaxed. But I do think if you are able to perform and feel safe, it’s an amazing gift when you’re performing. So yeah, my lack of inhibition is completely down to them.

My kids are thrilled. What I love about pride is that it links you to the past, and the present and the future — I really believe the message of it is still so relevant. It’s a very inclusive, supportive, warm audience. I know we talk a lot about being your authentic self to the point where we’ve kind of, we don’t really think about what that means. But actually being able to just feel comfortable in your own skin is one of the biggest things you can do for someone, isn’t it?

Method Man might’ve soured on this new generation of Hip-Hoppers (at least as live shows go) but the Wu-Tang swordsman isn’t giving up the game anytime soon and if you searching for bars with content and substance then look no further than the man known as the Iron Lung.

Linking up with Grafh for the visuals to “Fight For Love,” Method Man and Grafh partake in any underground soiree where the women are as attractive as they are deadly as they’re actually vampires who prey on unsuspecting men who think they’re going to be necking only to get, well, necked. Method always said protect ya neck, right?

French Montana meanwhile enjoys the company of women who don’t feast on blood and in his clip for “Casino Life,” the Bronx representative showcases his lavish life as he stunts in some big boy cars before hopping on a private jet to take him to whatever exclusive party he was invited to in another continent. That’s balling.
